• How to detect when the screen is on?

  As mentioned in a previous question, I am having difficulty intercepting all android.intent.action.SCREEN_ON events without a long-lived service (discouraged). I may be able to work around the need if I can simply work out when the screen is on at any given time, in the service. Can anyone suggesting a method call that would return this information? 1.5 upwards.

  I'd like to add one additional method for each service operation in my WCF client proxy code (i.e. the generated class that derives from ClientBase). I have written a Visual Studio extension that has an IOperationContractGenerationExtension implementation, but this interface only seems to expose the ability to modify the service interface, not the ClientBase-derived class. Is there any way to generate new methods in the proxy client class?

  Short of using static IP addresses, is it possible to have a Cisco ASA use a DNS name rather than an IP address? For instance, if I want to limit a host in the DMZ to access only one particular web service, but that web service might be globally load balanced or using DynDNS or cloud, how can the ACL be expressed so that a fixed IP address isn't used and the admin doesn't have to keep opening and closing down IP addresses?

  Hello, I would like to know how can I import songs from a web service into Android library without having to download the file into sdcard. I have all the data from the web service but I do not know how to integrate the tracks into Android database. My idea is not to have to download the files, but playing them on streaming using the music player. Do I need to download the tracks to the sd card and then Android does all the stuff? • Accessing SVN repository from CCNet (CruiseControl.net) using an Active Directory user

  I have CCNet setup to talk to our SVN repository, which has it's ACLs setup using Active Directory groups. This is working fine, except I'm not happy with having the user name and password of the AD user stored in plain text on the CCNet instance. Is there a way to either encrypt the AD username/password, or get the CCNet service (I've tried running the service as the user and removing the the username/password section of the CCNet/SVN config) to use a domain account outside of the standard config?

  Hi! There is an email service ExactTarget with web service API. There are samples (in php though) for sending email to whole list instantly, or to single subscriber by triggered action. It's pretty hard to get in it's documentation, and I couldn't find explanation how to send email to a single subscriber instantly without having some triggering actions. • Is this the Crudy anti pattern?

  Currently I am creating a WCF service which has to connect to a DAL which, just connects to a database using ADO.net and stored procedures. The DAl writes its responses from the database to a datacontract which is passed over the wire to the client via the service. I was reading that this may possibly be the anti pattern 'CRudy Interface', but I wasn't sure as I am sharing the datacontract. If I am using an anti pattern, can anyone suggest a better pattern to use for the behavior I require? Thanks

  Hi, I'd like to: <unjar src="lib/mst-service-impl*.zip" but I can't put an asterisk in there. It is only one file, but I don't want to hardcode the version in there. Is there a way to create a property with the asterisk (I know this particular example doesn't work, but perhaps something along these lines): <property name="my.jar" file="lib/mst-service-impl*.zip"> so that I could then do this: <unjar src="${my.jar}" Thanks, Ben

  I'm having an issue with the treeview control from the silverlight 4 toolkit. I can't get it to view to display my data correctly, the toplevel items are shown but the childnodes are nowhere to be seen. More info: I have a wcf service that delivers a list of Categories with nested subcategories to my viewmodel (I made sure to explicitly include my subcategory data). • How to implement long lived network connection in dotnet

  The idea is to have a windows service, that clients can connect to (tcp, wcf, remoting), and when the data changes in the windows service, send the changes to the clients. An example of this would be a stock pricing server, and when the price changes for instruments, send the changes to the client. Wcf does have streaming, but is that just for streaming one big message response or can it be used for lots of small messages ? Is sockets the only way to achieve this ?
