• Select photo while keep the order

  I have a list of photo on the page, each have an unique id, user can click on them to toggle select the photo, when they click the submit button, I need to send the array of selected photo ids to the back end, in the order that the photo was selected. I think that the fastest way to track if a photo is selected is to use an object that use photo id as key, like: var selected = { "6272861": true, "6272888": true } when the user unselect a photo, I just need to delete selected["6272861"]. But this will ignore the order, if I use an array to keep the selected photos: var selected = ["6272861", "6272888"]; then when I need to unselect a photo, I have to loop through the array and delete the item. Is there better ways? thanks.

  this is the code: Jsfiddle when you clear the url filed and leave it empty the input is hidden and disappear , need to return to the input tag wit h display if the value is empty by click or tab. i have a form with inputs the url input is edited by clicking on the link double click or click next to the link that means in the div area when it's done editing it converts the text to link the Problem: when you leave the input empty it make the attribute of the code and the input attribute hidden so no info is show neither can type an info. how can i make if that input with the id url0/url1 is empty to return to the input option to make it visible and can type?

• php calling classes functions in separate pages

  I've worked with J2EE recently and like the idea of struts.xml where I can handle the redirection to pages based on return string from action classes. In PHP, in my new under-development site, I am trying to follow the MVC standards without an MVC framework used from the internet. So I create the controllers, models and views (empty now). The only thing I am really stuck at is when I submit the form in view (insert_product.php) then I will need to create another php page to handle the post data and pass them to controllers. Anyway of avoiding creating those pages and maybe having something like struts.xml? Even if I can post data directly to controller class, that would be good. Thanks,

• why does the data property in an jquery ajax call override my return false?

  hi, i have the following block of code: $("#contact_container form, #contact_details form").live( "submit", function(event) { $.ajax({ type: this.method, url: this.action, data: this.serialize(), success: function(data) { data = $(data).find("#content"); $("#contact_details").html(data); }, }); return false; } ; when i leave out the data: this.serialize(), it behaves properly and displays the response within the #contact_details div. however, when i leave it in, it submits the form, causing the page to navigate away. why does the presence of the data attribute negates the return false? (probably due to a bug that i can't spot...) also, is the syntax to my find statement correct? it comes back as "undefined" even though i use a debugger to check the ajax response and that id does exists. thanks, steve

• how do i detect \r\n in a u_char type of buffer?

  i am trying to construct http content from packet sniffing in C. right now i am able to save all the packets in a file but i want to get rid of the headers in the first packet. they are also being saved as per they are a part of tcp payload. the actual body after the header starts after double "crlf" or \r\n\r\n in http response. how do i detect \r\n so that i can only save the following part of the buffer in the file. the buffer is u_char type. i cant figure out the command or the part i looked on google and other places but i mostly find c# commands, nothing in C.

• How expensive is a call to java.util.HashMap.keySet()?

  I implemented a sparse matrix as List<Map<Integer,Double>>. To get all entries of row i I call list.get(i).keySet(). How expensive is this call? I also used the trove library for an alternative implementation as List<TIntDoubleHashMap>. What's the cost of calling list.get(i).keys(), here? Do you have any further ideas of how to implement an efficient sparse matrix? Or can you provide a list of existing implementations in java?

• Building my first Javascript Application (jQuery), struggling on something

  I'd really appreciate recommendations on the most efficient way to approach this. I'm building a simple javascript application which displays a list of records and allows the user to edit a record by clicking an "Edit" link in the records row. The user also can click the "Add" link to pop open a dialog allowing them to add a new record. Here's a working prototype of this: http://jsfiddle.net/FfRcG/ You'll note if you click "Edit" a dialog pops up with some canned values. And, if you click "Add", a dialog pops up with empty values. I need help on how to approach two problems I believe we need to pass our index to our edit dialog and reference the values within the JSON, but I am unsure how to pass the index when the user clicks edit. It bothers me that the Edit and Add div contents are so similiar (Edit just pre populates the values). I feel like there is a more efficient way of doing this but am at a loss. • Send mass emails php (probably a shell question?)

  I've got 80,000 users on my site and i've recently turned away from the forum script i've been using and built something very simple myself that works just as well (the forum script was too bloated and resource intensive for my simple site) The only thing i've lost is the ability to mass email all my members. So i'm looking to come up with a script to do it myself. After looking around (including questions on here) I decided using Swift Mailer would be a good idea. However i've been through all the documentation and can't see how to send say "100 at a time" and i'm not sure how to go about it. To put it simply. I have an admin panel with a form with two inputs "subject" and "message". When I click submit what is the safest way for me to send 80,000 emails without crashing my server or being marked as spam? I'm on quite a beefy dedicated server so don't have the problems associated with shared servers. Thanks in advance for any advice!

  I have a file on a Windows 2003 NTFS file system. It is called C:\MyFolder\MyFile.txt. First grant a user read access to the file. Then I remove the user's read access to the parent folder. Now the user cannot use Windows Explorer to browse the folder and double click to open in Notepad. The user can go to Start (menu) Run and enter "C:\MyFolder\MyFile.txt" and the file will load in Notepad. Can someone point me to some MSDN documentation that explains why this is? I've tried all the google and bing queries I can think of. thanks much

  Lets say I have a class A that is fairly simple like this - public class A{ private int randomField = 0; protected int key; protected double dmg; } Now I want to write a number of sub-classes that inherit the protected fields and only differ based on the initial values that are assigned to those fields - for example, if I wrote two subclasses B and C, the only difference between those two sub-classes would be that the values key and dmg would have different values. They would share a method, set, which would be exactly the same, in that it would affect the same variable. I find when I'm writing these sub-classes I'm repeating myself, as I just change the constructor to set different initial values to key and dmg, and simply copy and paste the set method. Is there a 'good' way to do this?

I can't add by 1 because my for-loop looks like: for x in range(1,math.floor(math.sqrt(x))): y = math.sqrt(n - x * x) But as I understand it will actually be 1 < x < M where I need 1 < x <= M Adding 1 will completely change the result. • Network Logon Issues with Group Policy and Network

  I am gravely in need of your help and assistance. We have a problem with our logon and startup to our Windows 7 Enterprise system. We have more than 3000 Windows Desktops situated in roughly 20+ buildings around campus. Almost every computer on campus has the problem that I will be describing. I have spent over one month peering over etl files from Windows Performance Analyzer (A great product) and hundreds of thousands of event logs. I come to you today humbled that I could not figure this out. The problem as simply put our logon times are extremely long. An average first time logon is roughly 2-10 minutes depending on the software installed. All computers are Windows 7, the oldest computers being 5 years old. Startup times on various computers range from good (1-2 minutes) to very bad (5-60). Our second time logons range from 30 seconds to 4 minutes. We have a gigabit connection between each computer on the network. We have 5 domain controllers which also double as our DNS servers. Initial testing led us to believe that this was a software problem. So I spent a few days testing machines only to find inconsistent results from the etl files from xperfview. Each subset of computers on campus had a different subset of software issues, none seeming to interfere with logon just startup. So I started looking at our group policy and located some very interesting event ID’s. Group Policy 1129: The processing of Group Policy failed because of lack of network connectivity to a domain controller. Group Policy 1055: The processing of Group Policy failed. Windows could not resolve the computer name. This could be caused by one of more of the following: a) Name Resolution failure on the current domain controller. b) Active Directory Replication Latency (an account created on another domain controller has not replicated to the current domain controller). NETLOGON 5719 : This computer was not able to set up a secure session with a domain controller in domain OURDOMAIN due to the following: There are currently no logon servers available to service the logon request. This may lead to authentication problems. Make sure that this computer is connected to the network. If the problem persists, please contact your domain administrator. E1kexpress 27: Intel®82567LM-3 Gigabit Network Connection – Network link is disconnected. NetBT 4300 – The driver could not be created. WMI 10 - Event filter with query "SELECT * FROM __InstanceModificationEvent WITHIN 60 WHERE TargetInstance ISA "Win32_Processor" AND TargetInstance.LoadPercentage 99" could not be reactivated in namespace "//./root/CIMV2" because of error 0x80041003. Events cannot be delivered through this filter until the problem is corrected. More or less with timestamps it becomes apparent that the network maybe the issue. 1:25:57 - Group Policy is trying to discover the domain controller information 1:25:57 - The network link has been disconnected 1:25:58 - The processing of Group Policy failed because of lack of network connectivity to a domain controller. This may be a transient condition. A success message would be generated once the machine gets connected to the domain controller and Group Policy has successfully processed. If you do not see a success message for several hours, then contact your administrator. 1:25:58 - Making LDAP calls to connect and bind to active directory. • Microsoft&rsquo;s new technical computing initiative

  I made a mental note from earlier in the year.  Microsoft literally buys computers by the truckload.  From what I understand, it’s a typical practice amongst large software vendors.  You plug a few wires in, you test it, and you instantly have mega tera tera flops (don’t hold me to that number).  Microsoft has been trying to plug away at their cloud services (named Azure).  Which, for the layman, means Microsoft runs your software on their computers, and as demand increases you can allocate more computing power on the fly. With this in mind, it doesn’t surprise me that I was recently sent an executive email concerning Microsoft’s new technical computing initiative.  I find it to be a great marketing idea with actual substance behind their real work.  From the programmer academic perspective, in college we dreamed about this type of processing power.  This has decades of computer science theory behind it. A copy of the email received.  (note that I almost deleted this email, thinking it was spam due to it’s length) We don't often think about how complex life really is. Take the relatively simple task of commuting to and from work: it is, in fact, a complicated interplay of variables such as weather, train delays, accidents, traffic patterns, road construction, etc. You can however, take steps to shorten your commute - using a good, predictive understanding of a few of these variables. In fact, you probably are already taking these inputs and instinctively building a predictive model that you act on daily to get to your destination more quickly. Now, when we apply the same method to very complex tasks, this modeling approach becomes much more challenging. Recent world events clearly demonstrated our inability to process vast amounts of information and variables that would have helped to more accurately predict the behavior of global financial markets or the occurrence and impact of a volcano eruption in Iceland. To make sense of issues like these, researchers, engineers and analysts create computer models of the almost infinite number of possible interactions in complex systems. But, they need increasingly more sophisticated computer models to better understand how the world behaves and to make fact-based predictions about the future. And, to do this, it requires a tremendous amount of computing power to process and examine the massive data deluge from cameras, digital sensors and precision instruments of all kinds. This is the key to creating more accurate and realistic models that expose the hidden meaning of data, which gives us the kind of insight we need to solve a myriad of challenges. We have made great strides in our ability to build these kinds of computer models, and yet they are still too difficult, expensive and time consuming to manage. Today, even the most complicated data-rich simulations cannot fully capture all of the intricacies and dependencies of the systems they are trying to model. That is why, across the scientific and engineering world, it is so hard to say with any certainty when or where the next volcano will erupt and what flight patterns it might affect, or to more accurately predict something like a global flu pandemic. So far, we just cannot collect, correlate and compute enough data to create an accurate forecast of the real world. But this is about to change. Innovations in technology are transforming our ability to measure, monitor and model how the world behaves. The implication for scientific research is profound, and it will transform the way we tackle global challenges like health care and climate change. It will also have a huge impact on engineering and business, delivering breakthroughs that could lead to the creation of new products, new businesses and even new industries. For example, we have seen remarkable results from some of our current customers: Malaria strikes 300,000 to 500,000 people around the world each year. To help in the effort to eradicate malaria worldwide, scientists at Intellectual Ventures use software that simulates how the disease spreads and would respond to prevention and control methods, such as vaccines and the use of bed nets. Technical computing allows researchers to model more detailed parameters for more accurate results and receive those results in less than an hour, rather than waiting a full day.
