  hello everyone. i am using slideshow2 by Aeron Glemann in a website.Does in generate the thumbnails or do i have to provide them?the images iam showing are coming from a cloud, and are passed to the slideshow in an array.the thumbs exist in the cloud. how can i pass them in the array if the show cannot create them? i have used the replace parameter with regex but it shows as thumbnails the full image and nothing happens when i alter the css properties for the thumbnails. the images are displayed. here is the line for the show creation: var myShow = new Slideshow('show', eval(res.value), { controller: true, height: 350,overlap: false, resize: false, hu: '',replace:[/^\S+.(gif|jpg|jpeg|png)$/,'t$1'],thumbnails: true, width: 600}); the value object contains the images from the cloud in format shown below: ['xx.jpg','yy.png',....] thank you very much for your time.

• Django: test failing on a view with @login_required

  Hi all, I'm trying to build a test for a view that's decorated with @login_required, since I failed to make it work, I did a simple test and still can't make it pass. Here is the code for the simple test and the view: def test_login(self): user = self._create_new_user() self.assertTrue(user.is_active) login = self.client.login(username=user.username, password=self.data['password1']) self.failUnless(login, 'Could not log in') response = self.client.get('/accounts/testlogin/') self.assertEqual(response.status_code, 200) @login_required def testlogin(request): print 'testlogin !! ' return HttpResponse('OK') _create_new_user() is saving the user and there is a test inside that method to see that is working. The test fails in the response.status_code, returning 302 and the response instance is of a HttpResponseRedirect, is redirecting it as if not logged in. Any clue? I'm missing something?   Hi, I am creating a lightweight, single-file database administration tool and I would like to bundle some small icons with it. What is the best way to embed images in a HTML/PHP file? I know a method using PHP where I would call the same file with a GET parameter that would output hardcoded binary data with the correct header, but that seems a bit complicated. Can I use something to pass the image directly in a CSS background-image declaration? This would allow me to utilize the CSS sprite technique. Browser support isn't an issue here, so more exotic methods are welcome also. EDIT Does someone have a link/example to how to generate Data URL's properly with PHP? I'd figure echo 'data:image/png;base64,'.base64_encode(file_get_contents('image.png')) would suffice but I could be wrong.

Can anyone suggest how I do this? Or do I need to specify the types I want to allow somewhere and switch on the property's type to see if it's allowed? That's a little messy, so it'd be nice if I there was a tidier way.

• Detecting a Key Press Squashed by Another Application

  I have a WPF application I'm planning to use as an overlay for a DirectX game (specifically Bad Company 2). I'm using WM_KEYBOARD_LL hook to detect KeyDown events so I can bring my app to the foreground when a specific button is pressed. This works perfectly except for when the game is running (I've also noticed this problem with Window's "Chess Titans" so it may be a DirectX thing). As far as I can work out, when the game detects a keyboard press, it "eats" the event and doesn't pass the CallNextHookEx() method like it should, which would allow the key press message to be moved along to the next application in the queue. I'm wondering if there's any sort of work-around to this? It seems kind of unfair that a single application can just willy-nilly eat up messages like that.   i am completely new to regular expressions and am trying to create a regular expression in flex for a validation. using a regular expression, i am going to validate that the user input does NOT contain any white-space and consists of only characters and digits... starting with digit. so far i have: expression="[A-Za-z][A-Za-z0-9]*" this correctly checks for user input to start with a character followed by a possible digit, but this does not check if there is white space...(in my tests if user input has a space this input will pass through validation - this is not desired) can someone tell me how i can modify this expression to ensure that user input with whitespace is flagged as invalid?

• Modal Dialog and Form Elements

  I have a form that contains some fields and a recaptcha box. I have hidden the recaptcha box. The user clicks "create profile" and a modal dialog pops up with the recaptcha box. All fine. But, how do I submit that information? I am using Javascript to create the recaptcha HTML in the modal. I have a button called "Create Profile" that has this code attatched to the onclick: $("#form").submit() The form data gets submitted to the create.php page, but the recaptcha info does not. Do I have to manually pass this information via the post request to create.php? Without the modal dialog it works fine. I can't understand what's going on. Any ideas?

• Convert json to a string using jquery

  I have a nested json. I want to post it as a form input value. But, seems like jquery puts "Object object" string into the value. It seems easier to pass around the string and convert into the native form I need, than dealing with json as I don't need to change anything once it is generated. • SQL Reporting Services Daylight saving time query (pt 2)

  I posted a question a couple of days ago (SQL Reporting Services Daylight saving time query) which was I received an answer for (thanks very much) but did not elaborate on the whole problem I am experiencing. Not only did I require the returned date time format to account for day light saving but I also need the search parameter @StartDate to allow for DST. Currently if I key in a scheduled start time of 31/03/2010 11:00 and because the SQL DB has already taken the hours difference into consideration I get no results back. If I key in 31/03/2010 10:00 then the correct details are returned. Is there away using T-SQL or the like to get the search parameter to pass the adjusted time to the DB?

• Does Process.StartInfo.Arguments support a UTF-8 string?

  Can you use a UTF-8 string as the Arguments for a StartInfo? I am trying to pass a UTF-8 (in this case a Japanese string) to an application as a console argument. Something like this (this is just an example! (cmd.exe would be a custom app)) var process = new System.Diagnostics.Process(); process.StartInfo.Arguments = "/K \"echo ????????\""; process.StartInfo.FileName = "cmd.exe"; process.StartInfo.UseShellExecute = true; process.Start(); process.WaitForExit(); Executing this seems to loose the UTF-8 string and all the target application sees is "echo ?????????" When executing this command directly on the command line (by pasting the arguments) the target application receives the string correctly even though the command line itself doesn't seem to display it correctly. Do I need to do anything special to enable UTF-8 support in the arguments or is this just not supported?

• How can I click a button behind a transparent UIView?

  Let's say we have a view controller with one sub view. the subview takes up the center of the screen with 100 px margins on all sides. We then add a bunch of little stuff to click on inside that subview. We are only using the subview to take advantage of the new frame ( x=0, y=0 inside the subview is actually 100,100 in the parent view). Then, imagine that we have something behind the subview, like a menu. I want the user to be able to select any of the "little stuff" in the subview, but if there is nothing there, I want touches to pass through it (since the background is clear anyway) to the buttons behind it. How can I do this? It looks like touchesBegan goes through, but buttons don't work.

• Which is the best alternative for Java Serialization?

  I'm currently working on a project which needs to persist any kind of objects (of which implementation we don't have any control) so these objects could be recovered afterwards. We can't implement a ORM because we can't restrict the users of our library at development time. Our first alternative was to serialize it with the Java default serialization but we had a lot of trouble recovering the objects when the users started to pass different versions of the same object (attributes changed types, names, ...). We have tried with the XMLEncoder class (transforms an object into a XML), but we have found that there is a lack of functionality (doesn't support Enums for example). Finally, we also tried JAXB but this impose our users to annotate their classes. Any good alternative?

• Redirect Output of Capistrano

  I have a Capistrano deploy file (Capfile) that is rather large, contains a few namespaces and generally has a lot of information already in it. My ultimate goal is, using the Tinder gem, paste the output of the entire deployment into Campfire. I have Tinder setup properly already. I looked into using the Capistrano capture method, but that only works for the first host. Additionally that would be a lot of work to go through and add something like: output << capture 'foocommand' Specifically, I am looking to capture the output of any deployment from that file into a variable (in addition to putting it to STDOUT so I can see it), then pass that output in the variable into a function called notify_campfire. Since the notify_campfire function is getting called at the end of a task (every task regardless of the namespace), it should have the task name available to it and the output (which is stored in that output variable). Any thoughts on how to accomplish this would be greatly appreciated.

• Using sphinx to create context sensitive html help

  Hi all, I am currently using AsciiDoc (http://www.methods.co.nz/asciidoc/) for documenting my software projects because it supports pdf and html help generation. I am currently running it through cygwin so that the a2x tool chain functions properly. This works well for me but is a pain to setup on other windows computers. I have been looking for alternative methods and recently revisited Sphinx. Noticing that it now produces html help files I gave it a try and it seems to work well in the small tests I performed. My question is, is there a way to specify map id's for context sensitive help in the text so that my windows programs can call the proper help api and the file is launched and opened to the desired location? In AsciiDoc I am using "pass::[]". By using these constructs a context.h and alias.h are generated along with the other html help files (context sensitive help information).

  I am adding some code to an existing FreeBSD device driver and I am trying to pass a char* from user space to the driver. I've implemented a custom ioctl() command using the _IOW macro like so: #define TIBLOOMFILTER _IOW(0,253,char*) My call looks something like this: int file_desc = open("/dev/ti0", O_RDWR); ioctl(file_desc, TIBLOOMFILTER, (*filter).getBitArray()); close(file_desc); When I call ioctl() I get: Inappropriate ioctl for device as an error message. Any guess as to what may be doing wrong? I've defined the same macro in my device driver, and added it to the case statement.

• Flex Force Decimal

  Hi, I'm looking for a regex or a way to format the NumberValidator so that only decimal places are allowed. The domain="real" allows you to put integer values, but I need to force the user to but in 2.0 if they want an integer. This is because they pass through a Castor mapping file, it complains if it gets an integer when it expects a decimal. I dont want to restrict the number of decimal places, just insist that there must be a point, and a number after it. Any help would be much appreciated.

  Hi, After just been coding for about 6-9 months. I probably changed my coding style a number of times after reading some code or read best practices. But one thing I haven't yet come a cross is a good why to populate the template_dict. As of now I pass the template_dict across a number of methods (that changes/modifies it) and returns is. The result is that every methods takes template_dict as first argument and the returns it and this in my eyes doesn't seems to be the best solution. An idea is to have a method that handles all the changes. But I'm curios if there's a best practice for this? Or is it "do what you feel like"-type of thing? The 2 things I think is pretty ugly is to send as an argument and return it in all methods. And the just the var name is written xxx number of times in the code :) ..fredrik

Additional information: - using coverage.py 3.4 (only listing 3.5, we can't currently upgrade to 3.5)

• Passing an instantiated class to concrete class derived by Castle Windsor

  I have a system that I'm using to test some new architecture. I have the following setup (In MVC2 .Net - C Sharp): View < Controller < Service < Repository < DB I'm using Castle Windsor as my DI (IoC) controller, and this is working just fine in both the Service and Repo layers. However, I'm now at a point where I would like to pass an Entity Framework (DatabaseNameEntity) to the constructor to the Service, and then to the Repo, so that I have something similar to a Unit of Work pattern per request (This feels like what I'm trying to achieve anyway) - and I'm having trouble working out how this can be done using Castle Windsor. Am I going off on a silly tangent? Any pointers appreciated.

  I have three models: Company, Car, Passenger Company hasMany Cars Car hasMany Passenger These relations seem to work independetly: Car shows all Passengers and Company shows all Cars. But I cannot resolve the Company - Passenger (Show all Passengers of a Company). My controller for Company: function index(){ //grab all companies and pass it to the view: $companies = $this->Company->find('all'); $this->set('companies', $companies); } This displays all companies with all their respective cars. However the array does not contain an entry for passenger. What do I have to do to completely resovle the Company - Car - Passenger relation?

• Exception design: Custom exceptions reading data from file?

  I have a method that reads data from a comma separated text file and constructs a list of entity objects, let's say customers. So it reads for example, Name Age Weight Then I take these data objects and pass them to a business layer that saves them to a database. Now the data in this file might be invalid, so I'm trying to figure out the best error handling design. For example, the text file might have character data in the Age field. Now my question is, should I throw an exception such as InvalidAgeException from the method reading the file data? And suppose there is length restriction on the Name field, so if the length is greater than max characters do I throw a NameTooLongException or just an InvalidNameException, or do I just accept it and wait until the business layer gets a hold of it and throw exceptions from there? (If you can point me to a good resource that would be good too)

• Replace newline from MySQL TEXT field to parse w/ JSON

  Hi, "replace newline" seems to be a question asked here and there like hundred times already. But however, i haven't found any working solution for myself yet. I have a textarea that i use to save data into DB. Then using AJAX I want to get data from the DB in the backend that is in TEXT field and to pass it to frontend using JSON. But pasing JSON returns an error, as new lines from DB are not valid JSON syntax, I guess i should use \n instead... But how do i replace newlinew from DB with \n? I've tried this $t = str_replace('<br />', '\n', nl2br($t)); and this $t = preg_replace("/\r\n|\n\r|\r|\n/", "\n", $t); and using CHAR(13) and CHAR(10), and still I get an error the new line in textarea is equivalent to, i guess $t = 'text with a newline'; it gives the same error. And in notepad i clearly see that it is crlf

• In Django how display all of the values aftere the for loop is finished instead of displaying them one by one

  Hello, In my django project in the view I call the last 6 values in the column and send them to the template. I then would like to pass into google charts api those 6 values and have a graph.   I am relatively new to XSL and I think this is a basic question. So I better get my apologies in early! Basically, I would like to use a value-of function. This will be in a template and I would like to pass part of the xpath as a parameter. <xsl:variable name="TEST_VAR">"h:elementA/elementB"</xsl:variable> ... and then use the variable (or passed in param) as all (or part) of the xpath: <xsl:element name="transformedElement"><xsl:value-of select=$TEST_VAR/></xsl:element> I would really like to have the xpath to be a mixture of string literals and the vlue of TEST_VAR.
