• codes to convert from avi to asf

  Hello everyone, No matter what library/SDK to use, I want to convert from avi to asf very quickly (I could even sacrifice some quality of video and audio). I am working on Windows platform (Vista and 2008 Server), better .Net SDK/code, C++ code is also fine. :-) I learned from the below link, that there could be a very quick way to convert from avi to asf to support streaming better, as mentioned "could convert the video from AVI to ASF format using a simple copy (i.e. the content is the same, but container changes).". • What is good practice in .NET system architecture design concerning multiple models and aggregates

  I'm designing a larger enterprise architecture and I'm in a doubt about how to separate the models and design those. There are several points I'd like suggestions for: - models to define - way to define models Currently my idea is to define: Core (domain) model Repositories to get data to that domain model from a database or other store Business logic model that would contain business logic, validation logic and more specific versions of forms of data retrieval methods View models prepared for specifically formated data output that would be parsed by views of different kind (web, silverlight, etc). For the first model I'm puzzled at what to use and how to define the mode. Should this model entities contain collections and in what form? IList, IEnumerable or IQueryable collections? - I'm thinking of immutable collections which IEnumerable is, but I'd like to avoid huge data collections and to offer my Business logic layer access with LINQ expressions so that query trees get executed at Data level and retrieve only really required data for situations like the one when I'm retrieving a very specific subset of elements amongst thousands or hundreds of thousands. What if I have an item with several thousands of bids? I can't just make an IEnumerable collection of those on the model and then retrieve an item list in some Repository method or even Business model method. Should it be IQueryable so that I actually pass my queries to Repository all the way from the Business logic model layer? Should I just avoid collections in my domain model? Should I void only some collections? Should I separate Domain model and BusinessLogic model or integrate those? Data would be dealt trough repositories which would use Domain model classes. Should repositories be used directly using only classes from domain model like data containers? This is an example of what I had in mind: So, my Domain objects would look like (e.g.) public class Item { public string ItemName { get; set; } public int Price { get; set; } public bool Available { get; set; } private IList<Bid> _bids; public IQueryable<Bid> Bids { get { return _bids.AsQueryable(); } private set { _bids = value; } } public AddNewBid(Bid newBid) { _bids.Add(new Bid {.... } } Where Bid would be defined as a normal class. Repositories would be defined as data retrieval factories and used to get data into another (Business logic) model which would again be used to get data to ViewModels which would then be rendered by different consumers. I would define IQueryable interfaces for all aggregating collections to get flexibility and minimize data retrieved from real data store. Or should I make Domain Model "anemic" with pure data store entities and all collections define for business logic model? One of the most important questions is, where to have IQueryable typed collections? - All the way from Repositories to Business model or not at all and expose only solid IList and IEnumerable from Repositories and deal with more specific queries inside Business model, but have more finer grained methods for data retrieval within Repositories. So, what do you think? Have any suggestions?

• Apple push Notification Feedback service Not working

  Hi, I am developing an iPhone App that uses Apple Push Notifications. On the iPhone side everything is fine, on the server side I have a problem. Notifications are sent correctly however when I try to query the feedback service to obtain a list of devices from which the App has been uninstalled, I always get zero results. I know that I should obtain one result as the App has been uninstalled from one of my test devices. After 24 hours and more I still have no results from the feedback service.. Any ideas? Does anybody know how long it takes for the feedback service to recognize that my App has been uninstalled from my test device? • Panning Image Using Javascript in ASP.Net Page Overflows Div

  I have an ASP.Net page that contains a <div> with an <img> tag within. The image is large so the <div> is set with a size of 500x500 pixels with overflow set to scroll. I'm attempting to add image panning using a click and drag on the image. However, every time I begin dragging the image escapes the boundary of the element and consumes the entire page. Is there something in the ASP.Net Javascript that is causing this issue? Does anyone have a suggestion for panning a JPEG within a <div> block that will work in ASP.Net? I have tried using the jQueryUI library but the result is the same.

• iPad: Mobile Safari, HTML5 <video>, and jquery transitions

  I'm building a simple proof-of-concept for an iPad-specific website that would use video transitions to bring users from section to section. For purposes of the proof of concept, each "section" is just an image with a semitransparent content text box positioned above it. There are just 2 sections, "home" and "contact", and they've got a transition video sandwiched between them via z-indexing. The idea for the proof of concept is that clicking on the "home" section causes it to disappear, followed by playback of the transition video, which (upon completion) disappears to reveal the "contact" section. Everything is working fine with this version of the demo on the iPad and on Safari for Windows and OS X. Granted, the objects are different but neither of them contain the key @"type" and they both should throw errors, yet the Osirix code Tests for both conditions: if ([[item valueForKey:@"type"] isEqualToString:@"Series"]) { ... } if ([[item valueForKey:@"type"] isEqualToString:@"Study"]) { ... } And throws no errors. Yet when I load an NSManagedObject of the same exact model and entity @"Series" it throws the 'no key value' when passed into the conditions above. Am I missing something? Both the superentity and subentities of itemSeries and itemStudy are nil so they don't inherit from something that has KVC @"type". I'm totally at a loss as to explain what is going on. --- EDIT --- I know no one can explain what is going on... but maybe where to start looking? How would itemStudy have the extra KVC @"type" that doesn't show up in it's property list? Thank you for your assistance, -Stephen

• Implement OAuth in Java

  I made an an attempt to implement OAuth for my programming idea in Java, but I failed miserably. I don't know why, but my code doesn't work. Every time I run my program, an IOException is thrown with the reason "java.io.IOException: Server returned HTTP response code: 401" (401 means Unauthorized). I had a close look at the docs, but I really don't understand why it doesn't work. My OAuth provider I wanted to use is twitter, where I've registered my app, too.   Hi guys, I was just wondering if Android had built in code so that I could select multiple images in a gallery-view and then have those images exported as filenames in a string array(ex /sdcard/~f1.jpg, /sdcard/~f2.jpg,...). • VBA nested Loop flow control

  I will be brief and stick to what I know. This code for the most part works as it should. The only issue is in the iteration of the x and z loop. these to loops should set the range and yLABEL for the Y loop. I can get through a set and come up with the correct range after that things go bonkers. I know some of it has to do with not breaking out of x to set z and then back to x update the range. It should work z is found then x. the range between them is set for y. then next x but y stays then rang between y and x is set for y.. so on and so forth kinda like a slinky down the stairs. or a slide rule depending on how I set the loops either way I end up all over the place after a couple iterations. I have done a few things but each time I break out of x to set z , X restarts at the top of the range. At least that's what I think I am seeing. In the example sheet i have since changed the way the way the offset works with the loop but the idea is still the same. I have goto statements at this time i was going to try figuring out conditional switches after the loops were working. Any help direction or advice is appreciated.   I have a problem here, when I select any of the 'father' checkboxes all the child checkboxes are getting enabled or disabled. So I need each father checkbox to affect it own child fieldset.   Hi, I am trying to make a menu that works like the one on this flash site: http://elevensix.de/ When I click "portfolio", only then to the subnavigation links reveal themselves. Right now I have only managed to get a typical vertical "reveal subnavigation on hover menu" working. What is required is that once the appropriate menu item it cicked, its submenu shows. This submenu remains revealed as the submenu items are hovered over then selected. When the submenu item is selected, the content shows, and both the menu and submenu remain visible (the selected menu and submenu item are given a distinct colour to show the navigation path). Whew. • Covariance and Contravariance in C#

  I will start by saying that I am Java developer learning to program in C#. As such I do comparisons of what I know with what I am learning. I have been playing with C# generics for a few hours now, and I have been able to reproduce the same things I know in Java in C#, with the exception of a couple of examples using covariance and contravariance. The book I am reading is not very good in the subject. I will certainly seek more info on the web, but while I do that, perhaps you can help me find a C# implementation for the following Java code. An example is worth a thousand words, and I was hoping that by looking a good code sample I will be able to assimilate this more rapidly. Covariance In Java I can do something like this: public static double sum(List<? extends Number> numbers) { double summation = 0.0; for(Number number : numbers){ summation += number.doubleValue(); } return summation; } I can use this code as follows: List<Integer> myInts = asList(1,2,3,4,5); List<Double> myDoubles = asList(3.14, 5.5, 78.9); List<Long> myLongs = asList(1L, 2L, 3L); double result = 0.0; result = sum(myInts); result = sum(myDoubles) result = sum(myLongs); Now I did discover that C# supports covariance/contravariance only on interfaces and as long as they have been explicitly declared to do so (out). I think I was not able to reproduce this case, because I could not find a common ancestor of all numbers, but I believe that I could have used IEnumerable to implement such thing if a common ancestor exists. Since IEnumerable is a covariant type. Right? Any thoughts on how to implement the list above? Just point me into the right direction. Is there any common ancestor of all numeric types? Contravariance The contravariance example I tried was the following. In Java I can do this to copy one list into another. public static void copy(List<? extends Number> source, List<? super Number> destiny){ for(Number number : source) { destiny.add(number); } } Then I could use it with contravariant types as follows: List<Object> anything = new ArrayList<Object>(); List<Integer> myInts = asList(1,2,3,4,5); copy(myInts, anything); My basic problem, trying to implement this in C# is that I could not find an interface that was both covariant and contravariant at the same time, as it is case of List in my example above.   This is driving me NUTS! It's something that I've done 100s of time with a Datagrid. I'm now using a Gridview and I can't figure this out. • Image Resizing: Poor jpeg quality and black PNG backgrounds

  Hello, I have two issues with my class, basically the quality of the jpeg images is quite poor, but I'm not sure if thats down to my ratio resizing. Ideally I'd like this class to be strict with image sizes and crop into them, but I cant get my head around it. • WPF BackgroundWorker Execution

  Hi All, I've been programming C# for a while now (I'm a Computer Science major), and have never had to implement threading. I am currently building an application for a client that requires threading for a series of operations. Due to the nature of the client/provider agreement, I cannot release the source I am working with. The code that I have posted is in a general form. Pretty much the basic idea of what I am implementing, excluding the content specific source. The first Snippet demonstrates my basic structure, The Progress class is a custom progress window that is displayed as a dialog to prevent user UI interaction. I am currently using the code to complete database calls based on a collection of objects in another area of the application code. For example, I have a collection of "Objects" of one of my custom classes, that I perform these database calls on or on behalf of. My current set up works just fine when I call the "GeneralizedFunction" one and only one time. What I need to do is call this function once for every object in the collection. I was attempting to use a foreach loop to iterate through the collection, then I tried a for loop. For both loops, the result was the same. The Async operation performs exactly as desired for the first item in the collection. This, however, is the only one it works for. For each subsequent item, the progress box (my custom window) displays and immediately closes. In terms of the database calls, the calls for the first item in the collection are the only ones that successfully complete. All others aren't attempted. I've tried everything that I know and don't know to do, but I just cannot seem to get it to work. How can I get this to work for my entire collection? Any and all help is very greatly appreciated. • Search Form in Responsive Design - Remove Search button on Mobile

  I'm working with a search box in the header of a responsive website. On desktop/tablet widths, there's a search input field and a styled 'search' button to the right. You can type in a search term and either click 'SEARCH' button or just hit enter on the keyboard with the same result. When you scale down to mobile widths, the search input field fills the width of the screen. The submit button falls below it. On a desktop, clicking the button or hitting enter activate the search. On an actual iphone phone, you can hit the 'SEARCH' button, but the native mobile keyboard that rises from the bottom of the screen has a search button where the enter/return key would normally be. It seems to know I'm in a form and the keyboard automatically gives me the option to kick off the search by basically hitting the ENTER key location....but it says SEARCH. So far so good. I figure I don't need the button in the header on mobile since it's already in the keyboard. Therefore, I'll hide the button on mobile widths and everything will be tighter and look better. So I added this to my CSS to hide it in mobile: #search-button {display: none;} But now the search doesn't work at all. On mobile, I don't get the option in the keyboard that showed up before and if I just hit enter, it doesn't work at all. On desktop at mobile width, hitting enter also not longer works. So clearly by hiding the submit/search button, the phone no longer gave me the native option to run the search. In addition, on the desktop at mobile width, even hitting enter inside the search input box also fails to launch the the search. • Session state provider and global.asax not interacting properly?

  I'm experimenting with creating a crude, proof-of-concept session state store provider in ASP.Net. But I've got a problem and I'm not sure what to do about it. The website works properly when using the InProc provider. The Session_Start in global.asax is called on session creation as it should. But not if I implement my own provider. The Session_Start method from global.asax isn't being called at all if a new session is being created (that is, I delete the session state file). • Change form field options dynamically (and restore previously selected options) using jQuery

  I'm fairly new to both jQuery and JavaScript so can anyone please point out what I'm missing here? I have a form with multiple pairs of select fields, where the content of the second field relies on the selection of the first one. Once a value is chosen from the first one then a piece of jQuery code empties the corresponding second select options, gets new values as JSON and inserts them as new select values. All of this works with the code I've written. However if a user has chosen a second value, I'd like to restore it if possible (meaning if the new values also include the one previously selected). I tried to do this by first saving the second value and then trying to set it once the new options have been inserted. This did not work. However when trying to debug I inserted an alert() just before restoring the second value and with that in there it does work... Am I missing something very basic here? Any help would be appreciated. • Why is the this-pointer needed to access inherited attributes?

  Hi, assume the following class is given: class Base{ public: Base() {} Base( const Base& b) : base_attr(b.base_attr) {} void someBaseFunction() { .... } protected: SomeType base_attr; }; When I want a class to inherit from this one and include a new attribute for the derived class, I would write: class Derived: public Base { public: Derived() {} Derived( const Derived& d ) : derived_attr(d.derived_attr) { this->base_attr = d.base_attr; } void SomeDerivedFunction() { .... } private: SomeOtherType derived_attr; }; This works for me (let's ignore eventually missing semicolons or such please). However, when I remove the "this-" in the copy constructor of the derived class, the compiler complains that "'base_attr' was not declared in this scope". I thought that, when inheriting from a class, the protected attributes would then also be accessible directly. I did not know that the "this-" pointer was needed. I am now confused if it is actually correct what I am doing there, especially the copy-constructor of the Derived-class. Because each Derived object is supposed to have a base_attr and a derived_attr and they obviously need to be initialized/set correctly. And because Derived is inheriting from Base, I don't want to explicitly include an attribute named "base_attr" in the Derived-class. IMHO doing so would generally destroy the idea behind inheritance, as everything would have to be defined again. EDIT Thank you all for the quick answers. I completely forgot the fact that the classes actually are templates.
