I have a ComboBox. It is critical that the user cannot scroll by accident and change the selected value.
How can I prevent the ComboBox from changing the value and text when the use scrolls? Thanks.

Is there a way to configure visual studio to limit the characters on aspx page to a certain number of characters?
I tried setting the character limit on Formatting and Validation on aspx page. but that didnt work.
Very often I hear: use a profiler and unit test. How do I do that? I would be glad if someone would provide either links to websites with tutorials or recommend a good book. I'm using Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate.
This might seem like a bit of a design/css question but i really need some help.
This is the page http://library.permilia.com/Gavin/version2.0_beta/lead.html
It works on every browsers imaginable except chrome.
By it works i mean it applies a class .error that sets the borders to 1px solid #f00 which is a red border. In chrome for some reason you cannot change it no matter what!
Anybody got any ideas?
I need to design database for SQL Server, is there any MySQL workbench like software for that? I have access to MSDN, so it can also be commercial product that can be found form MSDN.
Hi,
I have just started to learn about the pros of foreign keys in database design (mySQL / innoDB) and I wonder if there's any way to temporarily bypass the foreign key when doing a specific delete query, to just delete in the parent table, and not from the linked child tables.
Thanks
I use two monitors. The second one has a browser open. I use Visual studio in the first monitor and making edits to the web page.
Would love to press a key and instantly see the change in the browser. Basically doing a refresh in the browser behind the scene and still keep window focus in the editor. Instead of keep switching to the browser, refresh, switch back to VS.
Any better ideas than using a keyboard recorder like AutoPilot?
What is the easiest way of pulling an excisting method out of it's class and into a new class using Visual studio 2010 / Resharper?
Edit: I use Resharper version 5.
As far as I know some company will use Devexpress to speed up the UI design
some company might use the AssistX .
another question:
is there any plugin which can help to keep a eye on our company 's code convention? If someone don't follow the convention, visual studio will warn him ?
Hi,
I am creating a setup project using Visual Studio. I want to reboot the system after the installation completed successfully.
I want it one time effort. I do not want to modify the setup each time using any external tool/ utility before delivering it to client.
Can I tweak the setup project itself?
How Can I do that?
I need a table control where one can edit properties by various ways, just like editing properties in Visual Studio (it's for XML editing). Does anybody know about something like that, written by others, or maybe a solution from MS itself?
Are there any known issues with visual studio and code being swapped between projects?
I had a project running in VS2008 and when i went back to it, the code from another project had been swapped in the Program.cs class. I havent made any mistakes, im not talking about some code- i mean the whole project had been swapped out. Its as if the .proj files or .soln files had been swapped from their project folders???
EDIT
Ive restarted laptop, opened the code again and its still showing the wrong code BUT when i execute it, its the right code?!?!?!
Ok, so I hate CSS/HTML graphic design... What do you guys recommend as a sample template or website that you think has great CSS and html layout? From my past experience it's best to get a page that has a white background and little dependency on graphics -- that's clean, and easy to modify ;-).
I'd like to build an MSI installer that installs a managed DLL and makes it accessible to users from Visual Studio's "Add References" menu in Solution Explorer. I believe I am supposed to add a key into the Windows registry but I cannot see how to tell the VS project for the MSI to do this at install.
How is this done and where should I look for tutorials on this kind of thing?
Say that I'm writing a test and my caret is here (indicated by "|"):
[ExpectedException(typeof(InvalidOperationException|))]
In Visual Studio 2010, I'd like to press some shortcut that would take me to the next line so that I could start typing "public void Etc()".
Right now, I need to press
Right arrow
Right arrow
Right arrow
Enter
Which is too many key presses IMO. Is there a VS2010 / ReSharper shortcut to aid this operation?
Each version of Visual Studio comes with a specific version of the MFC framework, but I believe MFC SDK can be downloaded separately. Since MFC is just C++, is there any reason you couldn't use the latest version with an older version of VC++... I don't mean trying to get the ribbon working in MSVC++ 6, But we're on VS2005 and some of the newer MFC features would be useful.
OK, see the numbers? I can barely see them because my Visual Studio 2010 theme has the backround as almost-black, and the numbers show up in the default color, which is black. I can't figure out which setting changes the color for a number in a .sql file. Does anyone know?
Hi,I know the importance of being normal in database design.
But many people always lives with broken windows.
Is any tool can help create/fix a table to normal form?
I mean to force developer create table in normal form, or help to check if the table being
normal base on existed data within the table.
Thanks……
I've inherited a Visual Studio/VB.Net numerical simulation project that has a likely inefficient calculation. Profiling indicates that the function is called a lot (1 million times plus) and spends about 50% of the overall calculation within this function. Here is the problematic portion
Result = (A * (E ^ C)) / (D ^ C * B) (where A-C are local double variables and D & E global double variables)
Result is then compared to a threshold which might have additional improvements as well, but I'll leave them another day
any thoughts or help would be appreciated
Steve
We use Visual Studio 2008, with visual source safe v8. Lately, I seem to be getting a lot more crashes than usual, mainly when viewing history (comparing, etc.).
I have taken a screencapture of the series of dialog boxes that will always appear, leading up to the crash:

Does anyone know what could be causing this? Thanks.
Hello,
Googling nor binging "VC++ What's new C++0x" gives me nothing that tells me what is new.Is there an official page at msdn or something similiar that contains the information for VC++ 10? I've seen such for C#,there must be one for what I'd enjoy to read.
If not, please list the new features available in Visual Studio 2010 for VC++.
I need to generate different assembly names depending on the platform target. For example, I have a console application "bob.exe". Instead of building for AnyCPU, I need to build explicitly for x86 and x64 and thus want "bob32.exe" and "bob64.exe". The Application tab in Visual Studio 2010 project options disables the Platform combobox. Build Events also don't allow options per platform so I can't rename it afterwards very easily.
