  • port is not open in torrent client even though it was forwarded

    I have a problem with port forwarding with my torrent, port check tool says that it open, the firewall exception as well. But with the test by the client not say so. I don't know why.   • Pasting images into gmail from clipboard, shows fine when sent, but arrives as text

    I have had consistent problems with pasting images into Gmail. I use Firefox (just in case that is relevant, but I wouldn't expect so). The image displays fine as I write it. But when it arrives at my family members Gmail account, it is being displayed in some base64 encoded form as many pages of text with a beginning like: img src="data:image/png;base64,iVBORw0KGgoAAA..... On the receiving end I cannot get the images to display properly.

    I have 50,000 high resolution JPEG photos, where a couple of them might occasionally be needed, about once a year. I wanted to zip them to save disk space, except that zipping gives no space benefit - so trying to reduce the images disk usage using winzip, winrar or 7zip was not successful. Is there any software or algorithm similar to zip to compress image size on hard disk for storage without loosing any image information?

    I have following problem - I damaged my system (Gentoo - by rebuilding using gcc 4.5) beyond repair. I unmounted /home, copied /etc + other important files and I've started reinstalling system. However I forgot to copy init script. It is still present in kernel image that I have. How to extract it? Please note that initrd is not a separate file but is in the kernel image.

  • Nginx giving a lot of 502 errors

    Since a while I have installed nginx and everything seemed to be working fine, recently I found out that about 20% of the time users are getting 502-errors. This is also noticable when Google tries to crawl my site in Webmaster Tools (from 10000 posts, approx. 2000 502 errors) At first I was thinking to disable nginx, but I'd really like to keep using it. I'm running it on a server with 2GB RAM and 4 Reserved CPU Cores. WHM/cPanel installed and Mod_Ruid2 enabled + DSO as a PHP Handler with APC caching installed. Is there anything I can change in the config, that can fix this?   • Raspberry Pi can't see external hard drive

    My Raspberry Pi (Model B) can't see my external hard drive. It was working before without a problem, until I disconnected and reconnected the drive. It is a self-powered hard drive. When I put another image on a different SD card the Raspberry Pi can see the hard drive no problem, so there is some sort of configuration issue in the current image on the SD card. Any advice will be gratefully received.

  • Should I enter my Office product key before running sysprep?

    I'm planning on cloning a Windows XP install, and am a little confused about sysprep. I know that it blanks out the XP product key, but what about other software? If I install Office 2007 and enter a product key, then use sysprep and create an image, will I be able to enter a new product key in clones I create from the image? Or will they all have duplicate product keys?

  • Apache returning text/html on some png files

    I have an Apache web server that has a sub folder for images. For some reason, a few of the .png files are returned as text/html and not as image/png. There is nothing indicating a permission problem and the files return with code 200 and with full size. I made sure that image/png is set and even tried forcing it with .htaccess Any idea where to look next? Edit: looks like an .htaccess configuration problem on a parent directory.

  • Mac OS X Lion - Xcode components simulator location

    When we downloaded Xcode 4.5.1, to test applications in older simulators we installed it from Settings->Downloads->Components Now there is Xcode 4.5.2 available. Again we need to download simulators for that Xcode ? or is there any location where those simulators stored similar to Documentation. In 2nd image below we can see location for documentation but in 1st image selecting simulator doesn't show any location of installation. Any idea ?

  • Unknown problem causing major computer failure, Booting problem with windows 7, mainly with 0x0000000A

    Where do I begin? OS=Windows 7 I think it all started when I ran an installation file. I suspect it may have been a virus (even though AVG scan didnt pick anything up). The installation failed, computer crashed then restarted. In the middle of the reboot, I get BSOD. Normal boot up doesnt work so I use safe mode. Method 1: Not a problem I thought cos I will do what I normally do and that was to recover from my image file. Unfortunately, my Acronis software cant recover in safe mode. Method 2: I created a bootable disc for the Acronis recovery software. Managed to boot to Acronis and started the recovery from image file. This fail with some error message (did not manage to record). Something to do with not be able to copy to $AVG folder. Method 3: At this stage, assumed it was still a virus causing the problem so decided to format that partition to remove everything and hopefully the virus too. Had a lot of problems trying to bypass the system to allow me to format but (i think- more on this later) I managed to do that. Image was recovered, thought problem was resolved. Tried to boot windows but new error: Boot Manager is missing. Read up on this and managed to copy the Boot Manager from my Laptop's Manufacturer's partition (partition contains factory setup image file). Windows loaded but new BSOD with 0x000000A problem. Method 4: Attempted to reinstall factory settings but this failed cos i suspect by formating the partition, I may have removed the recovery software. Tried to create a bootable dvd of factory setting but machine is so bad it continues to crash. Bootable dvd method failed. Method 5:Spent alot of time reading up on this error, even installed a software to help scan and fix the problem. Scan failed and software required money! Anyway, lots of BSOD with different error message like 0x00000001A and 0x0000000D1. Error message changes with some reboots. Method 6: Found a hotfix from the windows site to fix 0x0000000A problem, great I thought! In safe mode, I cant install the file cos of error:0x8007043c. Tried to then install the fix in normal mode but installation just hangs. Returned to safe mode and followed advice to bypass 0x8007043c by changing the BITS status (read here: http://www.vistaheads.com/forums/microsoft-public-windowsupdate/181931-error-number-0x8007043c-windows-update.html). However, my machine at this time is so flaky that it hangs everytime i right mouse click the computer icon. I am at my wits end. Ya help or ideas? Cheers

    I'm on a work machine, setting up a virtual ubuntu image using virtual box. After I installed the image, I can't seem to connect to the internet. If I look at network and sharing center on my host OS (W7) I see that the VirtualBox Host-Only Network reads as "no network access" How can I set it up so that it uses the same network as the host OS. UPDATE! Okay, is there a way I can tell virtual box host-only network to use a proxy script?

  • Export layer to png file in gimp

    Is there a simple way to export the current selected layer as a png/jpg file in Gimp 2.8.4 ? I did some searching in google, and the export should do it in gimp 2.6 if the layer is the only visible layer, but I can't get that to work for gimp 2.8 The way I currently do it now is that I select the content, and cut/paste it to a new image, then export the image and close it, but a simple export selected layer would be much more easy to use.

I've started with the folder action template because I'd like to save the files there and have automator kick off a series of steps that ends with the original image being hidden once I've had the enhancement, re-size, etc steps fire off. The only step I can't figure out is applying the hidden image attribute.

  • How to copy web page text and images to MS Word

    From time to time I want to copy and paste a portion of a web document (viewed in both IE Explorer 7 and 8) into MS Word 2007. The selected text copies and pastes fine, but I am left with only place holders for the images (png). Right clicking the image and clicking copy, then pasting into MS Word doesn't work either. If I paste the image into MS Paint and copy it from there, I can paste it into the Word document. What gives?

    This has been bugging me on Windows 7 as well, and much to my chagrin Microsoft didn't bother addressing that issue in Windows 8. Take this image for example: http://mantia.me/goodies/desktops/supermariobros_wide.jpg It's made for retina Macbooks, so naturally it's being downscaled when setting it as wallpaper on my 1680x1050 screen. Windows 8 manages to make it look like shit, see this screenshot: http://d.pr/i/WGFy Is there any way of making Windows always the original image, not some JPGized-to-hell version of it?

    My company uses an internal management software for storing products. They want to transpose all the products in a MySql database so they can do available their products on the company website. Notice: they will continue to use their own internal software. This software can exports all the products in various file format (including XML). The syncronization not have to be in real time, they are satisfied to syncronize the MySql database once a day (late night). Also, each product in their software has one or more images, then I have to do available also the images on the website.   • Icons in windows 8 changed automatically

    The icons of my folders in Windows 8 have changed automatically ! Now it is similar to that of the Unknown File Type icon. My C: drive icon and some icons in the Explorer-Home menu had also changed, but they became normal after a restart. But the folder icons (Medium Size) don't change. I understand that there is EBS to provide a persistent storage and that an image can be booted right from EBS. There are also existing images which are perfect starting points, with Linux installed, so I simply have to 'copy' somehow an existing image to EBS, and configure it there.     Hello, I have a web server running some PHP that checks for an image (curl -F 'imageName=@myimage') and it also checks the POST data for username=&password=. When the PHP checks _REQUEST I can just do: curl -F 'imageName=@myimage' 'http://www.example.com/?upload=1&username=test&password=test' I need to instead check _POST for username and password due to specs. How can I upload the image and have the username=&password= post data? Any help appreciated!

    Given a floor-plan, which is too big for any screen, even if it is a 17" one, how can I show it online like a map? It would need further functionality that a browser alone does not have (just zoom in/out the entire image won't do the trick). The image will be breaked down into smaller jpgs, so the user will not have to download the whole floorplan at once.It will need some zoom in/zoom out button, and some way or bookmarking position (x,y). open-source solutions prefered.
