  I have need of suggestion here that how should be the xml structure here for my need. I want to store data for more than one table in single xml file that is I want to define more than one table in single xml file.And I want to set more than one attribute for each column definition. Like I have three tables PersonalInfo,OfficeDetail,OtherInfo. • Run command with no terminal output

  Hello, I've searched around online, but can't find the answer to my question. What I want to do is run a command in pythong, using the subprocess module, and store the output in a variable. However, I do not want the command's output to be printed to the terminal. For this code: def storels(): a = subprocess.Popen("ls",shell=True) storels() I get the directory listing in the terminal, instead of having it stored in a. I've also tried def storels(): subprocess.Popen("ls > tmp",shell=True) a = open("./tmp") [Rest of Code] storels() This also prints the output of ls to my terminal. I've even tried this command with the somewhat dated os.system method, since running "ls tmp" in the terminal doesn't print ls to the terminal at all, but stores it in tmp. However, the same thing happens. I'm using python 2.6. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

  For containers such as std::map< std::string, std::unique_ptr< Foo >>, it looks like emplace() has yet to be implemented in stdc++ as of gcc 4.7.2. Unfortunately, I can't store Foo directly by value as it is an abstract super-class. As a simple, but inefficient, place-holder, I've just been using std::map< std::string, Foo* > in conjunction with a std::vector< std::unique_ptr< Foo >> for garbage collection. Do you have a interim solution that is more efficient and more easily replaced once emplace() is available?

  I'm creating a windows app in c# 2008 that will have around 8-10 dialog boxes. I want these forms to exist throughout the life of the program. Where's the best place to create and store the objects? I'm coming from Delphi, where Form objects were usually stored in global variables. I'm tempted to do it in the static Program class. Should I put them in the main form instead? Thanks for helping a C# newb out.

  Hi all, Im my current project we need to interface with sharepoint to store and retrieve various documents. This has previously been done by referencing the Microsoft.Sharepoint dlls directly and going from there. As I don't know a lot about sharepoint yet I have been doing some research. Most of the examples I find actually refer to using the Sharepoint web services themselves (the various vti_bin ones shown in http://www.sharepointmonitor.com/2007/01/sharepoint-web-service/). I cant seem to find the differences in approaches. This current project was written a few years ago so maybe the web services weren't available then? Cheers

Values vary. I want to store the data in db as INSERT INTO datatable c_id = "number after C" p_id = "number after P" // if it exists for a line of data value = 'value' yyy = 'value' Any ideas how to retrieve these numbers? • Function to get a string and return same after processing in C

  I am working on a code which requires a function. This function gets a string as input and returns a string. What I have planned so far is to get a str[], remove all $'s and spaces, and store this in another string which is returned later: char *getstring(char str[]) { int i=0; char rtn[255]; while (i<strlen(str)) { if (str[i] != " " || str[i] != "$" ) rtn[i] = str[i]; else rtn[i] = ''; } return str; } I dont feel like this will work. • which one is a faster/better sql practice?

  Suppose I have a 2 column table (id, flag) and id is sequential. I expect this table to contain a lot of records. I want to periodically select the first row not flagged and update it. Some of the records on the way may have already been flagged, so I want to skip them. Does it make more sense if I store the last id I flagged and use it in my select statement, like select * from mytable where id > my_last_id order by id asc limit 1 or simply get the first unflagged row, like: select * from mytable where flagged = 'F' order by id asc limit 1 Thank you!

  I am trying to hash or encrypt a record's ID for URL's such that people can't view various records simply by guessing different integer ID's. Essentially, my URL's would be something like this: /plans/0AUTxwoGkOYfiZGd2 instead of /plans/304. Would the best way to do this just be to use SHA-1 to hash the plan's id and store it in a hashed_id column for plans? Then, overwrite to_param and add a finder to find by hashed_id? How do you ensure that the characters generated are 0-9, a-z, or A-Z? Thanks!

• Creating a file path in C#

  So I'm trying to create a path in C#. I use Environment.Machinename and store it a variable serverName. Then I create another string variable and have some other path extension in there. Here is my code so far: string serverName = Environment.MachineName; string folderName = "\\AlarmLogger"; No matter what I do I can't seem to obtain only one backslash prior to AlarmLogger. Any ideas how I can specify a path in C#? Edit: I'm wondering if my code doesn't seem to want to paste correctly. Anyways when i paste it I only see one backslash but my code has two. Because of the escape character sequence. But something like string test = @"\" + serverName + folderName doesn't seem to want to work for me.

  Hello Guys, I am playing around with CouchDB to test if it is "possible" [1] to store scientific data (simulated and experimental raw data + metadata). A big pro is the schema-less approach of CouchDB: we have to be very flexible with the metadata, as the set of parameters changes very often. Up to now I have some code to feed raw data, plots (both as attachments), and hierarchical metadata (as JSON) into CouchDB documents, and have written some prototype Javascript for filtering and showing. But the filtering is done on the client side (a.k.a. browser): The map function simply returns everything. How could I change the (or push a second) map function of a specific _design-document with simple browser-JS? I do not think that a temporary view would yield any performance gain... Basic math: 949324-937796=11528. Numeric values are stored as number datatypes. What am I missing here?

• How do I escape a new line character in a .ini file so that Zend_Config_Ini reads it literally?

  I am trying to store a multiple line e-mail in an ini file using PHP/Zend Framework. My string has new lines characters in it, and when I use Zend_Config_Ini to parse the ini file, the new line characters come back escaped, so they are printed out on screen, instead of a line feed. Example: // ini file message = Hi {0},\n\nThis is a test message.\nGoodbye! is parsed by Zend_Config_Ini as: Hi {0},\\n\\nThis is a test message.\\nGoodbye! which then is printed out in the email as: Hi John,\n\nThis is a test message.\nGoodbye! Instead I want the e-mail to look like this: Hi John, This is a test message. Goodbye! Does anybody know how to achieve this? Thanks!

• When open-sourcing a live Rails app, is it dangerous to leave the session key secret in source contr

  I've got a Rails app that's been running live for some time, and I'm planning to open source it in the near future. I'm wondering how dangerous it is to leave the session key store secret in source control while the app is live. If it's dangerous, how do people usually handle this problem? I'd guess that it's easiest to just move the string to a text file that's ignored by the SCM, and read it in later. Just for clarity, I'm talking about this: # Your secret key for verifying cookie session data integrity. # If you change this key, all old sessions will become invalid! # Make sure the secret is at least 30 characters and all random, # no regular words or you'll be exposed to dictionary attacks. ActionController::Base.session = { :key => '_application_session', :secret => '(long, unique string)' } And while we're on the subject, is there anything else in a default Rails app that should be protected when open sourcing a live app?

• Possible to add hook as android fetches XML-strings?

  I'm on my first week with android and would appreciate any insight if it's possible to hook or override the default behaviour when an android application reads their values from the resource-files to the shown layouts. What I want is to over time be able to add new/updated strings OTA and store locally and then on launch of application load new values instead of the ones in the default /res. Ideally i guess, would be an override of setContentView. Files holding updates will be in same xml-format as those in /res. (Please, no advices in other ways to do this. I'm looking to create an options table in my db that makes every record a system option, so i can work with a little number of fields. my db has the following structure: 3 columns named id, name, and value following data is inserted as an example -- id - name - value 1 - uri - www.example.com 2 - sitename - Working it out 3 - base_folder - /folder1/folder2/ 4 - slogan - Just a slogan for the site -- that way i can include a large number of customizable system options very easily the problem is that i don't know how to retrieve them how do i get the value of uri and store it as a var? and better yet, how do i get, for exmaple, values of id 1 and 4 only without making a query each time?   We have a requirement of reading/writing more than 10 million strings into a file. Also we do not want duplicates in the file. Since the strings would be flushed to a file as soon as they are read we are not maintaining it in memory. We cannot use hashcode because of collisions in the hash code due to which we might miss a string as duplicate. Two other approaches i found in my googling: 1.Use a message digest algorithm like MD5 - but it might be too costly to calculate and store. 2.Use a checksum algorithm. [i am not sure if this produces a unique key for a string- can someone please confirm] Is there any other approach avaiable. Thanks.

  I have written application which downloads data from a website every 10 mins and writes to a file.Then these files are merged into one file and then R program is run on this merged file to perform sentiment analysis and result is stored in hbase. I want the process of merging files,running R and then storing to HBase to run continuosly on the downloaded data. For running R,we are running R script from java program.We have used Runtime.getRuntime().exec() method to run R program but it doesn't wait for R program to complete and method in the next line starts executing.Using p.waitFor() did not help . What approach should I use to do merge then run R and finally store results in Hbase?Should I use timer class??
