  • Can you convert an address to a zip code in a spreadsheet?

    Given a column of street addresses with city and state but no zip in a spreadsheet, I'd like to put a formula in a second column that yields the ZIP code. Do you know a way to do this? I'm dealing with US addresses, but answers pertaining to other countries are interesting, too. UPDATE: I guess I'm mostly hoping that there's a way to do this in Google Spreadsheets. I realize that you need to access a vast ZIP code database to do this, but it seems to me that such a database is already inside Google Maps. If I put an address in there without ZIP code, I get back an address with ZIP code. If Maps can do that lookup, maybe there's a way to make it happen in Spreadsheets, too.

  • Nginx SSL redirect for one specific page only

    I read and followed this question in order to configure nginx to force SSL for one page (admin.php for XenForo), and it is working well for a few of the site administrators but is not for myself. It seems that the extra information in the location ^~ /admin.php block is unecessary, does anyone know of an easy way to avoid duplicate code? Without it it skips the php block and just returns the php files. Currently it applies https correctly in Firefox when I navigate to admin.php. In Chrome, it downloads the admin.php page. When returning to the non-https website in Firefox, it does not correctly return to http but stays as SSL. Like I said earlier, this only happens for me, the other admins can go back and forth without a problem. Is this an issue on my end that I can fix? And does anyone know of any ways I could reduce duplicate configuration options in the configuration? Thanks in advance! EDIT: Clearing the cache / cookies seemed to work. Is this the right way to do http/https redirection? I sort of made it up as I went along.

    Hi, I'm looking for a way to make Google Chrome always open PDFs with its internal viewer when I click a link, as opposed to downloading it to the default location. It works with most URLs, but some servers set a special header to force the file to be downloaded ("Content-Disposition: attachment;", e.g. http://www.uni-goettingen.de/en/46260.html). What I want is the opposite of this question: Stop PDFs from displaying inside Google Chrome, or what is asked for here, but applied to Chrome: How to ignore “Content-Disposition: attachment” in Firefox Btw., I'm running Chrome 8.0.552.0 dev on Ubuntu 10.4.

  • Why am I having trouble viewing HTTPS websites only using Chrome only on my employer's network?

    I'm using Google Chrome on my new MacBook Pro that has been provided to me by my employer. Many of the HTTPS sites I visit do not work when I visit them using Google Crome while I am connected to my employer's network. Example: www.facebook.com These same sites work perfectly fine if I use a different browser (like Safari) or even with Chrome when my Macbook is connected to my home WiFi network. Chrome reports the error: "The certificate was signed by an unknown authority". See attached screenshots. How can I resolve this problem? I really want to use Chrome. But not having access to numerous important work and outside websites is unacceptable.

  • How to make googlebot to crawl a page? [closed]

    What is the best way of forcing googlebot to crawl the page? I've put up Google analytics, registered site with Google webmaster. I've done great deal of SEO work on the website with keywords and titles, I took care of microdata. I submitted the site anonymously, I successfully fetched the site and submit for indexing couple of days ago and still nothing. Last time googlebot visited the site is almost 1 month ago and the indexed content is now obsolete. Am I missing something? or is it just a slow process??

  • Microsoft SyncFramework - Sync different tables into one

    Hello, we are trying to get the Microsoft SyncFramework running in our application to synchronize an oracle db with a mobile device. Problem The queries that we need to gather the data on the oracle db take much time (and we haven't found a way to speed them up yet), so we try to split them up in as much portions as possible. One big part of the whole problem is, that we need different information out of one big table, that bloats a query if combined. Unfortunately, the SyncFramework allows only one TableAdapter per SyncTable. Now this is a problem for our application: If we were able to use more than one TableAdapter per SyncTable, we could easily spread the queries in a more efficient way. Using one query per Table which combines all the needed data takes way too much time. Ideas I thought of creating different TableAdapters for each one of the required queries and then merge the resulting datasets afterwards (preferably on the server). This seems to work, but is a rather awkward solution. Does someone of you know a better solution? Or do you have some ideas that could help?     My google Docs Spreadsheet call returns this response in the json format (I only need everything after "rows") please look at the formatted response here : ) I use php's json_decode function to parse the data and use it (Yes, I am awful at php) This code returns NULL, and according to the documentation, NULL is returned "if the json cannot be decoded". $json = file_get_contents($jsonurl); $json_output = json_decode($json); var_dump ($json_output); // Returns NULL Basically, what i want to accomplish is to make a simple array from the first row values of the Json response. like this $array = {'john','John Handcock','[email protected]','2929292','blanc'} You guys are genius, I would appreciate your insight and help on this very much! Answer as "sberry2A" mentions bellow, the response is not valid Json, google offers the Zend Json library for this purpose, tho I decided to parse the tsv-excel version instead :)

    I'm trying to implement OpenId login for a web application. Whenever new user who logs in via OpenId I create a new user on the sustem, and among the data I store their openid URL, so that next time they login with that user. I'm testing this with my Gmail OpenID, and the problem is that everytime I do this, Google sends a different openid URL, that is, https://www.google.com/accounts/o8/id?id=SomethingThatChangesFromTimeToTime Of course I'm then not able to tell wheter this is or not a new user. I'm a bit puzzled: shouldn't the openid identifier always remain the same?

  • one page over 9 different urls

    Hi I am using prestashop as the cart for my website. I have a problem; the website used to be in dynamic urls. I enabled friendly url writing. The problem is that one page has more than one url. You can access a same page from the dynamic url and static url. In fact a single page has 9 different urls. This obviously creates problems for seo as search engines penalize my website for this.   • Temp file that exists only in RAM?

    I'm trying to write an encrpytion using the OTP method. In keeping with the security theories I need the plain text documents to be stored only in memory and never ever written to a physical drive. The tmpnam command appears to be what I need, but from what I can see it saves the file on the disk and not the RAM. Using C++ is there any (platform independent) method that allows a file to exist only in RAM? I would like to avoid using a RAM disk method if possible. Thanks Edit: Thanks, its more just a learning thing for me, I'm new to encryption and just working through different methods, I don't actually plan on using many of them (esspecially OTP due to doubling the original file size because of the "pad"). If I'm totally honest, I'm a Linux user so ditching Windows wouldn't be too bad, I'm looking into using RAM disks for now as FUSE seems a bit overkill for a "learning" thing.
