• Poll for pressed buttons in Java

  I have a WorldWind application build based on the Java SDK. It has a great event handler for detecting when you click on objects, but I've run into a snag. While I can click on and select individual objects, I can't determine if the user is pressing the control key while they click (if they want to select multiple objects). I can implement event handlers for both the mouse and the keyboard, but I can't for the life of me figure out how to tie the two together. How could I make my mouse listener poll the system for a list of currently depressed keys?

• Having two backgrounds for an active menu item?

  Hi I have a dynamic menu where the ul li items change in width depending on the text set in the CMS (Joomla). They want the menu item, on mouse over, to both have 1. a repeated background image and 2. an image placed at the top (http://screencast.com/t/Zjk4YTJmNGQ). Now, I'm great with doing the repeated background image on a mouse over and that would be great, but I am not sure how to get both of these images in one css declaration. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as I haven't learned this technique yet :(

• How can I scale movement physics functions to frames per second (in a game engine)?

  I am working on a game in Javascript (HTML5 Canvas). I implemented a simple algorithm that allows an object to follow another object with basic physics mixed in (a force vector to drive the object in the right direction, and the velocity stacks momentum, but is slowed by a constant drag force). At the moment, I set it up as a rectangle following the mouse (x, y) coordinates. Now, the tricky part: my question is, if I change this to a different framerate (say, 30 FPS), how can I modify the force and drag values to keep the movement constant? That is, right now my rectangle (whose position is dictated by the x and y variables) moves at a maximum speed of about 4 pixels per second, and accelerates to its max speed in about 1 second. BUT, if I change the framerate, it moves slower (e.g. 30 FPS accelerates to only 2 pixels per frame). So, how can I create an equation that takes FPS (frames per second) as input, and spits out correct "drag" and "force" values that will behave the same way in real time?   I recently bought a UPS, however, the only outlets take this sort of connector: But, the other end of the cables is like this (right): The thing is, I really need to connect it to a power bar, so I need a cable that has one end like in the first photo, and the second end like this (right side): I've searched around for quite a while, and asked at a few shops, but cannot seem to find a cable that will fulfill this purpose. This seems crazy to me, as I would think that a UPS wouldn't only be able to be attached to devices that take the relatively obscure output seen on the right side of the second image I posted. Do I need to buy another UPS that has the proper connectors?? Please help!!

  What I have? I have normal web application and it has 3 site collections with name, "PDirectory". Other than this I have only Central administration web application in the farm. What I want? I want to delete that web application, "PDirectory". What problem am I facing? I am not able to delete the web application. I get below error when I try to delete it but, the site collections got deleted! • Force Windows to output only mono sound

  So, the 'right' half of my pair of headphones broke (the transducer+wire are fine, but the earpiece broke on the headband and so the earpiece won't sit over my ear). So now the right channel is being broadcast to my cube neighbors when I wear my headphones. Yes, they look very silly. Is there a way to ensure, in Windows XP (or Windows Media Player), that all stereo sound is downmixed to the left channel only (ie, in mono) so my neighbors don't hear my music? I know that I can setup the mixer to set the balance to 100% left, but information in the right channel won't be heard.

• Add custom command line to extended context menu in Windows 7

  I have an application pinned to the task bar. 90% of the time, I run it with no additional command line options, so I can either click it (if not already open), or right click the icon and click the application name to open a new instance. I want to make it where when I right click it, there are 2 options listed: the first is the program with no command line options and the second is the one with a custom command line (that I hard code). If this is impossible, it would be tolerable to add it to the extended context menu (shift + right click the icon), but I prefer the former.

Every time I do this change and press Apply button and Apply changes to this folder, subfolders and files is checked and press OK button it displays Applying attributes... dialog when it finishing I press OK button on folder properties dialog closing it. When I open Properties dialog once again I see Read-only is checked again. How can I fix it?

• Ouya Controller on Windows 8 to Emulate a Microsoft 360 Controller

  I thought I'd create a central repository for those looking to get their OUYA controller working in Windows. Currently there is an underlying Windows driver issue causing the left/right triggers to be recognized as Z-Axis and Z-Rotation as well as button presses. The Xbox 360 Controller Emulator is able to connect to the controller but the underlying driver issue causes the emulated Right Trigger to remain HIGH and consequently unusable by games that look for a 360 controller (eg. Batman Arkham Origins [tested today], all buttons work except the Right Trigger). Has anyone made progress in overcoming this issue? if not would anyone know where to start to modify the controller driver to ignore the z-axis? I was intrigued into investigate this out of interest and because there is no purely bluetooth game controller on the market to my knowledge.

  I have configured mod_status like this in my Apache 2 config file: <Location /server-status> SetHandler server-status Order Deny,Allow </Location> I also tried: Order Deny,Allow allow from all And: Order Allow,Deny allow from all And: Order Deny,Allow Deny from all Allow from 145.xxx.xx.xx And of course I restarted Apache after each configuration change. I tried the configurations above in my main config file and under a VirtualHost directive. When I place the configuration under VirtualHost or in a NameVirtualHost block I get a 404 instead of 403. But I get only get 403 Forbidden when I visit example.com/server-status/ I don't use an .htaccess file. It works now! I placed the server-status code right above the definitions of the virtual hosts. I didn't test the right configuration on the right virtual host. On the virtual host without htaccess files it works, on virtual hosts with an app installed I get 404 because of url rewrites in the htaccess file.

• Browser won't connect to svn server

  This has been driving me nuts. For some reason, I can't access my svn repository using a browser in this laptop that I'm using right now (firefox & ie) The connection just times out. I'm at home right now and the server is in another room. It connects OK there and it also connects OK in my virtual machine in this same laptop. I'm pretty stumped right now and can't figure out why this is happening. I've also checked the proxies and I'm 100% sure I'm not using any at all. The virtual machine running on this laptop is XP 32bit and this one is a Win7 64 bit. Thanks

• Temporarily Utilizing 304 Header on Apache for Crawlers

  I have a client who has a hosting arrangement with 400 customer sites all hosted through SuPHP in CGI mode on Apache. The sysop is now gone and the client is calling on me for rolling out a new PHP thing. Trouble is -- server load is very high right now and we have found that it's due to the crawlers. We had one customer in particular who complained of slow websites, and we engaged a 304 header plugin in his site against most crawlers, and his site perked right up. We'd like to lower that load by issuing a global 304 header to all the crawlers, letting human visitors through. I have a long list of user agent keywords to trap for. What's the best way to temporarily engage that global 304 header, while allowing human visitors to get right on through? I mean, I could roll out 400 .htaccess file changes, but it would be ideal to make this change in like one central Apache config and then it automatically affect all the sites at once.

• Split section of video with ffmpeg

  I've been trying to get this to work and I'm really close, but something still isn't right. I have a 14 second clip I'm trying to cut out of a longer mp4 video. I got the video to cut to the right place with this command: ffmpeg -ss 00:05:13.0 -i ~/videos/trim_me.mp4 -vcodec h264 -acodec copy -t 00:00:14.0 ~/videos/trimmed.mp4 If I didn't specify -vcodec it was starting from an "I-Frame" (I guess) and wasn't the right place. The audio is starting from that spot as well, so I tried setting -acodec the same way: ffmpeg -ss 00:05:13.0 -i ~/videos/trim_me.mp4 -vcodec h264 -acodec aac -ac 2 -ab 225k -ar 48000 -strict -2 -t 00:00:14.0 ~/videos/trimmed.mp4 Which doesn't really help much. Setting -async 1 makes it take longer, and then the audio does match up, but not until 4 seconds into the video. :/ I'd ideally not like to install anything else and have a commandline solution for this.

• How can I safely close this window and forever avoid seeing similar pop-ups from Mackeeper Zeobit's malware and spyware?

  The attached image shows a window that just popped up and the only button available is the OK button. I could Force quit Safari, but I've got several sites open right now and don't want to try and find my place again. Besides, I've seen similar hacks in the past and I'd like to learn how to handle them in a way better than just a brute force-quit. I've never heard of MacKeeper or Zeobit, so I opened Firefox and did a few searches while Safari is obviously still stuck, waiting for me to click the sneaky OK button in the dialog window. Anyhow, at least the first few pages of most search results contain lots of blabbering from questionable witnesses about how MacKeeper saved them from some malware or spyware. However, any company that is hacking the browser to maliciously install their product is itself the criminal and not providing a true security application. So, there are three questions here: How can I close this window? Can I do something to Safari to avoid these hacks in the future? (Just curious) Is MacKeeper or Zeobit somehow loading the search results so that no information about their application being malware or spyware is listed (I can't be the only person in the world that is offended by their tactics, even though it appears I am)?

• After reinstallation, Disk Cleanup disappears when I click OK.

  After I reinstalled Windows 7, Disk Cleanup stopped working. I can start Disk Cleanup and select the drive to clean, but when I click on the OK button, the window disappears. Any solutions? But a new process - WerFault.exe appeared under svchost.exe a few seconds after i clicked the "OK" button. It disappeared, too, from the process list after some time (i think it disappeared along with cleanmgr.exe).

• Office 365 - Outlook shows Global Address List clicking "Rooms" during a meeting request

  This appears to be a "known" issue, but apparently no fix for it. However, I've been impressed before at the tenacity of the experts here to figure out an answer/fix. ISSUE When booking a New Meeting in Outlook (2013 or 2010) and choosing the Rooms button: The default list that opens is the Offline Global Address List: Which means a user has to change from the Offline Global Address List to the All Rooms list as shown here in order to easily pick from the list of actual rooms/resources: This isn't the default however for On-Premise Exchange servers. They default "correctly" to the All Rooms list when you click the Rooms button in the meeting request. While the option of using the Room Finder is there and does work, users have to know to click the Room Finder choice and it doesn't fix the actual root issue here. I checked my config by running: Get-OrganizationConfig | Select-Object ResourceAddressLists and the output was what it should be: ResourceAddressLists -------------------- {\All Rooms} QUESTION Does anyone have a fix that will make the All Rooms list be the default list when clicking the Rooms button in Outlook when using Office 365 / Exchange Online?

• SQL Server Backup problem when browsing to the directory

  I want to allow a group (eg. 'BackupManagers') who can only preform backup and restore operations on certain databases. When creating the BackupManagers user account I checked db_backupoperator. When the user logs in to create a backup they get an error message similar to the following when the select Tasks - Backup - Click on Add in the destiantion block - click on the "..." button to browse TITLE: Locate Database Files - MYSERVER\SQL2005 E:\MSSQL\Backup Cannot access the specified path or file on the server. Verify that you have the necessary security privileges and that the path or file exists. If you know that the service account can access a specific file, type in the full path for the file in the File Name control in the Locate dialog box. I have confirmed that the user has permissions to the folder. I have even created a share to this folder and had them access it through explorer. They are able to create and delete files within the folder. I have found that if they type in the path to the file instead of using the "..." button to browse the directory tree then they can create a backup file fine. Why is the browse button not working as expected? Thanks!

• XCA: sign IPsec certificates with own CA

  I'm trying to establish a LAN to LAN connection through a VPN tunnel. There's a Zywall at the remote office which will be responsible for establishing a connection to a Draytek at the main office. I'm able to establish the connection if I use shared keys, but I'd like to use certificates instead. I've downloaded the XCA application for Ubuntu which allows me to first create a CA certificate, and then sign "certificate signing reqests" using this CA. However, I'm uncertain if I am doing things right. More specifically<, which basic keys/extended keys should the CA certificate and the certificates themselves have? Right now I just skip selecting any keys at all, but is that right? All hints and help appreciated!

• How would I modify this ffmpeg command to include 4 videos?

  Say I had 4 videos with the following names: Main Video.mov Top Left.mov Top Right.mov Top Mid.mov and I wanted to have "Main Video" play with a picture in picture effect with boxes of videos playing in the top left, top right and top mid. Each box would have the video that is similarly named. This command will do picture in picture for 2 videos, with one video in the lower right. ffmpeg -i 2013-07-31\ 231548.MOV -vf "movie=2013-07-31\ 231722.MOV, scale=iw/5:ih/5 [small]; [in][small] overlay=main_w*0.77:main_h*0.77 [out]" -strict -2 output.mov Can someone help me update this command to work with the 4 files I mentioned above?
