• Odd Series of Packets, How would I reproduce this behavior?

  I recorded a series of http packets that I cant programmatically recreate. The series of packets goes like this: HTTP GET /axis-cgi/admin/param.cgi?action=list&group=Network.eth0.MACAddress,Properties.System.SerialNumber,DVTelTest,SightLogix.ProdShortName HTTP/1.1 HTTP HTTP/1.1 200 OK (text/plain) HTTP GET /axis-cgi/admin/param.cgi?action=list&group=Properties.Image.Resolution HTTP/1.1 HTTP HTTP/1.1 200 OK (text/plain) HTTP GET /axis-cgi/admin/param.cgi?action=update&Network.RTSP.ProtViewer=password HTTP/1.1 HTTP GET /axis-cgi/admin/param.cgi?action=list&group=Event HTTP/1.1 HTTP HTTP/1.1 200 OK (text/plain) HTTP GET /axis-cgi/admin/param.cgi?action=list&group=ImageSource.I0.Sensor HTTP/1.1 HTTP HTTP/1.1 200 OK (text/plain) Notice the two GET followed by one response. I though the two gets were going out at the same time but there is no corresponding number of responses. Also when trying to reproduce this pattern as the server if I abort the first GET request the client waits until it times out and starts the request over with out sending any other requests. What is happening here? How can I reproduce it?

• Prevent Visual Studio Web Test from changing request details

  I have a service that accepts Xmla queries for Analysis services, often times those queries themselves will have a string that contains a fragment that looks something like {{[Time].[Year].[All]}} Recording these requests works fine but when I try to re-run the test I get an error from the test runner... Request failed: Exception occurred: There is no context parameter with the name ' [Time].[Year].[All]' in the WebTestContext This was confusing for some time but when I asked VS to generate a coded version of the test I was able to see the problem a bit better. VS searches for the '{{' and '}}' tokens and makes changes, considering those areas to refer to Context parameters, the code looks like this.Context["\n\t[Time].[Year].[All]"].ToString() Anyone know how to instruct Visual Studio to not perform this replacement operation? Or another way around this issue?

  I have installed Adobe Livecycle in order to convert MSWORD files to PDF from a web-app. Specifically, I use the DocConverter tool. Previously I have used OpenOffice UNO SDK, but I have found some problems with particular documents. Now, the conversion is ok, but the conversion time is huge. These are the times to convert documents of different sizes via Openoffice and via Livecycle. Could you suggest anything? • Weird mapping error in linq-to-sql dbml file in VS2010

  Since I switched to VS2010, several times a day I get a compilation error in my dbml file: DBML1005: Mapping between DbType 'bigint' and Type 'MyNamespace.SecurityToken' in Column 'SecurityToken' of Type 'Employee' is not supported When I restart VS2010 the error disappears. I have no problems running my application using this dbml file (specifically, there are no problems getting correct values inside the SecurityToken property of Employee objects). The SecurityToken property is of an enum type defined as follows: [Flags] public enum SecurityToken : long { None = 1, Admin = 2, ...... } The SecurityToken column in the database is of type bigint. Am I missing something? It's especially weird that the error only happens sometimes, when I'm writing code that isn't related at all to the LINQ model.

• What is the email limit on Google Apps Script?

  Can someone tell me if there is a webpage that lists the official Google limit on emails sent from a Google Apps Script? In testing my little script I got a Service invoked too many times: email (# 59) and now I can't send any more emails. The obvious place for this information would be in the MailApp.sendEmail documentation. But, that does not say anything about a limit. I found this discussion on the google forum from 2/11/10 where users discuss about a 100 or 500 emails/day limit, with a 24 hour ban, but no one from Google provided an official answer. Note that this is for google apps script, which is different from the google app engine, which does have well published limits.

• GKPeerStateAvailable for non existing peers?

  Hi, used this website for the long time to find answers, now need to ask on myself! :) I have implemented multi player for my game using GKSession and client/server approach, not using peer picker (up to 4 player allowed). I have one big problem which I can't find solution for. If you disconnect/reconnect server peer quickly enough, client peer will "remember" that host and will show it in the list of all available peers permanently, only turning wifi/bluetooth off resets this. So if I do this 5 times in a row, my client will show 5 available hosts with the same name! Anyone had experience with this? Any idea of workarounds? I should note that requirements for my game is iPhone SDK 3.0 for Bluetooth and 3.1 for Wifi as GKSession supports both now.

• ASP.NET: How to initialize when *user control* is initially loaded

  I have an ASP.NET user control that I'm embedding in another user control. This works fine. I need to know the best logic/method for detecting when the control is loaded. In other words, I have some display initialization logic that needs to run when the control is initially displayed. Surely there is a pattern for this. The typical method is to put (!IsPostBack) logic in the Page_Load method of the control. This works great until you end up with a state when the Parent page has already posted back many times. My user control gets added to the page but its display does not intialize properly. I'm hoping to find a way that keeps this logic inside the control, versus various hacking around in the codebehind of the parent page.

• Finding text's bounding rect in Core Text

  I'm trying to find the boundaries of a line of text in Core Text. For simplicity, assume it has a single character. At the moment I'm using the following method: line = CTLineCreateWithAttributedString(attrString); rect = CTLineGetImageBounds(line, context); It works most of the times, but for some characters, like math italic d (Unicode: 0x1D451) or math italic q (Unicode: 0x1D45E), the width is a bit short. I tried using CTLineGetTypographicBounds() or CTFramesetterSuggestFrameSizeWithConstraints, but they didn't help either (I think they use glyph's advance to find the width, not its graphical width.) As the font itself isn't italic, I also can't use slant angle to correct this. I tried accessing the glyphs directly and using CTFontCreatePathForGlyph(), but failed as CGGlyph and UniChar are both 16-bits and I need 32-bit characters. Does anyone know if I'm doing anything wrong? If so, what's the right way?

  I am creating a custom simple dropdown using jQuery that hides/shows a element based on over state. The problem I have now is that when you go over the shown element it hides, you cant move your mouse in to the dropdown that was created. Any thoughts on how to fix that also, is there an easier way to do what I have?   If an Inner Join can be thought of as a cross join and then getting the records that satisfy the condition, then a LEFT OUTER JOIN can be thought of as that, plus ONE record on the left table that doesn't satisfy the condition. In other words, it is not a cross join that "goes easy" on the left records (even when the condition is not satisfied), because then the left record can appear many times (as many as how many records there are in the right table). So the LEFT OUTER JOIN is the Cross JOIN with the records satisfying the condition, plus ONE record from the LEFT TABLE that doesn't satisfy the condition.

• Proper way to format date from database using javascript/jquery

  Hi all, I am calling my database which contains a datetime datatype. The date looks like this: 2005-05-23 16:06:00.000 I would like to display this in a table when a user selects a certain item from a list. I call my controller action and return Json of all the times and put them in a table. The problem is the date is completely wrong. What is displayed is this: /Date(1255470180000)/ The date that is returned isn't even parsable (which I don't want to do anyway) so I can't even get the data if I wanted to. Any ideas?

  In Java, you can make an enum having multiples values. In objective-C, this cannot be done easily. I've read many pages about this but I didn't found anything satisfying that would allow me to use enums by a simple way and to keep the enum declaration and their different values in the same file. • How to indefinitely pause a thread in Java and later resume it?

  Maybe this question has been asked many times before, but I never found a satisfying answer. The problem: I have to simulate a process scheduler, using the round robin strategy. I'm using threads to simulate processes and multiprogramming; everything works fine with the JVM managing the threads. But the thing is that now I want to have control of all the threads so that I can run each thread alone by a certain quantum (or time), just like real OS processes schedulers. What I'm thinking to do: I want have a list of all threads, as I iterate the list I want to execute each thread for their corresponding quantum, but as soon the time's up I want to pause that thread indefinitely until all threads in the list are executed and then when I reach the same thread again resume it and so on. The question: So is their a way, without using deprecated methods stop(), suspend(), or resume(), to have this control over threads?

• Java webapp: where/how to automatically set each picture's width/height

  For several reasons, a lot of "webmaster guides" (like Google and Yahoo!'s webmaster guides/guidelines) repeats several times that it is better to always put the width and height attribute of the img tag. One of the most obvious reason is that the elements in the page won't seem to be "jumping around" to a new location after every picture is loaded (always setting the correct width/height sure gets rid of this behavior). And there are other reasons to follow these guidelines / best practices. So: if we consider that these are indeed good practices if there are a lot of pictures and they are changing often if pictures aren't changing between two .war re-deploy (that is: there's no user-contributed picture) if we don't want to manually edit all these width/height attributes How do we automatically/programmatically serve HTML pages where every img tag have their width/height attribute correctly set as the best practice recommend?

• ASMX Still slow after 'Generate serialization assembly'

  This question is related to: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/784918/asmx-web-service-slow-first-request. I inherited a proxy to a legacy ASMX Service. Basically as the post above states, the first call performance is literally 10 times slower than the subsequent calls. I went ahead and turned on ‘Generate serialization assembly' on the project that contains the proxy. The 'serializers' assembly is actually generated. However, I haven't seen any performance increase at all. Do I need to do anything else other than make sure the 'serializers' assembly is in the client's bin directory? Do I have to 'link' the proxy to the 'serializers' assembly during proxy generation (wsdl.exe)? I guess I'm stuck at this point. J Saunders where u at? :)

• Zend + Pop Up's balloons on Server Problem

  Dear Friends from Stackoverflow, Please help me with a problem that i'm having when uploading my project to the server. I'm using pop up's balloons (http://mckay.cshl.edu/balloons.html) for a project using Zend FW and it works fine on my localhost. (I'm using MAMP on MacOSX) but when I upload the webpage to the server, the text inside the balloons is displayed but the images that form the balloon are not, so somehow the js does not recognize the url to the images (the path it's correct, i've checked several times). The server is an Ubuntu 9.04 virtual machine from rackspace.com, running a LAMP server. I'm using the REWRITE function in Apache, so i guess maybe that's the problem. The rewrite configuration is set up using a .htaccess file with the following content: SetEnv APPLICATION_ENV development Options +FollowSymlinks RewriteEngine ON RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-d RewriteRule !.(js|ico|txt|gif|jpg|png|css|html)$ index.php Does anyone knows what the problem might be? • Display continuous dates in Pivot Chart

  I have a set of data in a pivot table with date times and events. I've made a pivot chart with this data, and grouped the data by day and year, then display a count of events for each day. So, my horizontal axis goes from 19 March 2007 to 11 May 2010, and my vertical axis is numeric, going from zero to 140. For some days, I have zero events. These days don't seem to be shown on the horizontal axis, so 2008 is narrower than 2009. How do I display a count of zero for days with no events? I'd like my horizontal axis to be continuous, so that it does not miss any days, and every month ends up taking up the same amount of horizontal space. (This question is similar to the unanswered question here, but I'd rather not generate a table of all the days in the last x number of years just to get a smooth plot!)

• Page zoom slows down page rendering

  I'm building a map viewer much like Google maps and i've run into an interesting performance problem when a page is zoomed (i.e ctrl + OR ctrl -). It seems to affect all major browsers but Firefox has the worst problems as far as I can tell. The problem is that when the page is zoomed panning by dragging the mouse seems really sluggish. This can even be seen on Google maps. Pan the map left and right and note how smooth it is. Now press ctrl+ (3 or 4 times). Now pan the map left and right in the same way. Notice the difference? Does anyone know how I can minimize this problem?

• Graphics/Bitmap Limits?

  Im having some weird problems with Graphics and Bitmap. I have a Graphics Object that is displayed on a PictureBox and im capturing the MouseMove and MouseClick Events that give X and Y Position of the Mouse on the Image but if the Y Position goes Bigger then 32775 it then goes into Negatives which means everything breaks. And if the Image is Bigger then 65535 it then stops displaying the Image. Any Ideas how these problems can be fixed?   Hi, I have some troubles defining a query. I have a Product and a Category table. A product can belong to multiple categories and vice versa so there is also a Product-Category table. Now I want to select all products that belong to a certain category. But if the user does not provide a category I want all products. I try to create a query using a join but this results in the product being selected multiple times if it belongs to multiple categories (in the case no specific category is queried). What kind of query do I have to create? Thanks

• Reducing the pain writing integration and system tests

  I would like to make integration tests and system tests for my applications but producing good integration and system tests have often needed so much effort that I have not bothered. The few times I tried, I wrote custom, application-specific test harnesses, which felt like re-inventing the wheel each time. I wonder if this is the wrong approach. Is there a "standard" approach to integration and full system testing? EDIT: To clarify, it's automated tests, for desktop and web applications. Ideally a complete test suite that exercises the full functionality of the application.
