    Hello I have two histograms. int Hist1[10] = {1,4,3,5,2,5,4,6,3,2}; int Hist1[10] = {1,4,3,15,12,15,4,6,3,2}; Hist1's distribution is of type multi-modal; Hist2's distribution is of type uni-modal with single prominent peak. My questions are Is there any way that i could determine the type of distribution programmatically? How to quantify whether these two histograms are similar/dissimilar? Thanks

  • Why can't I enforce derived classes to have parameterless constructors?

    I am trying to do the following: public class foo<T> where T : bar, new() { public foo() { _t = new T(); } private T _t; } public abstract class bar { public abstract void someMethod(); // Some implementation } public class baz : bar { public overide someMethod(){//Implementation} } And I am attempting to use it as follows: foo<baz> fooObject = new foo<baz>(); And I get an error explaining that 'T' must be a non-abstract type with a public parameterless constructor in order to use it as parameter 'T' in the generic type or method. I fully understand why this must be, and also understand that I could pass a pre-initialized object of type 'T' in as a constructor argument to avoid having to 'new' it, but is there any way around this? any way to enforce classes that derive from 'bar' to supply parameterless constructors?

When i try to open any open it is showing the error as: "Could not find type 'LibrarySystem.ctrlSeparator'. Please make sure that the assembly that contains this type is referenced. If this type is a part of your development project, make sure that the project has been successfully built. " Also "The variable 'ctrlSeparator1' is either undeclared or was never assigned.     I have a table (3x3) that counts "< /form" as space in IE. The code for 1 td looks like: <style type="text/css"> table { border-width: 0px; border-collapse: collapse; padding: 0px; } td, th { padding: 0px; } </style> <table><tr><td><form name="form" action="index.php" method="post"><input type="hidden" name="from" value="a" /><input type="image" src="pic1.gif" alt="1" name="submit" value="submit" /></form></td> There is no spaces anywhere outside the tags. Inside the td, there is a form, with a hidden field and a picture. Firefox shows only the picture, but IE has spaces between the rows. I did a little debugging, and found it was from the /form. Does anyone know a fix to this?

  • Groovy: Dynamically addings methods with a specific signature.

    So, I need to dynamically create (or inject) methods into an object that have a specific return type and method signature, because a Java tool we're using will be finding this methods via Reflection and checks for void type. Method names will be determined at runtime. Using metaClass. = { ... } however adds a closure which doesn't show up as a regular method (even if it can be used as one) and also has a return type. I can't modify the method finding code, and it it not Groovy-aware. I can't use methodMissing() or invokeMethod() because the method needs to actually exist. If I could overload class.getMethods() I think it would be possible, but I can't figure out how. Is there any way to do this in Groovy?

    I am trying to get the value of base_path variable in PHP (on lamp server) . I have kept the code insider beta_test directory inside www directly. i.e, base path function should return " /beta_test/ " . But it is returning just single slash ( "/" ) . But where should you set this name? e.g. PHP: $fieldName = 'email'; $template->setVar('field_name', $fieldName) ... if(!empty($_POST)) validate($_POST[$fieldName]); Template: <input type="text" name="{$field_name}"> Or just PHP: if(!empty($_POST)) validate($_POST['email']); Template: <input type="text" name="email"> Or should I write a function that can be called from the template an converts an array of field data (name, type, value, id, class, ...) into html code? Is there a best practice where to define fieldnames (types,etc.)? Notice: I used php and smarty like pseudocode (and tags), but its a general question.

  • How can I figure out where all these extra sqlite3 selects are being generated in my rails app?

    I'm trying to figure out where a whole pile of extra queries are being generated by my rails app. I need some ideas on how to tackle it. Or, if someone can give me some hints, I'd be grateful. I get these: SQL (1.0ms) SELECT name FROM sqlite_master WHERE type = 'table' AND NOT name = 'sqlite_sequence' SQL (0.8ms) SELECT name FROM sqlite_master WHERE type = 'table' AND NOT name = 'sqlite_sequence' SQL (0.8ms) SELECT name FROM sqlite_master WHERE type = 'table' AND NOT name = 'sqlite_sequence' repeated over and over on every request to the DB (as much as 70 times for a single request) I tried installing a plugin that traced the source of the queries, but it really didn't help at all. I'm using the hobofields gem, dunno if that is what's doing it but I'm somewhat wedded to it at the moment Any tips on hunting down the source of these extra queries?

I'm running this code to get my FieldInfos: Class MyType { private int foo; public int bar {get; private set; } } Type type = TypeOf(MyType); foreach (FieldInfo fi in type.GetFields(BindingFlags.Instance | BindingFlags.Public | BindingFlags.DeclaredOnly | BindingFlags.NonPublic)) { // Gets both foo and bar, however bar is called <bar>k__backingfield. } so the question is, can I somehow detect that the FieldInfo is a backingfield, without relying on checking its name ? (Which is pretty undocumented, and could be broken in next version of the framework)

However, it would be nice to know the actual logic behind it. Anyone care to explain?

  • How can I measure distance with tastypie and geodjango?

    Using Tastypie and GeoDjango, I'm trying to return results of buildings located within 1 mile of a point. The TastyPie documentation states that distance lookups are not yet supported, but I am finding examples of people getting it work, such as this discussion and this discussion on StackOverflow, but no working code examples that can be applied. The idea that I am trying to work with is if I append a GET command to the end of a URL, then nearby locations are returned, for example: http://website.com/api/?format=json&building_point__distance_lte=[{"type": "Point", "coordinates": [153.09537, -27.52618]},{"type": "D", "m" : 1}] But when I try that, all I get back is: {"error": "Invalid resource lookup data provided (mismatched type)."} I've been pouring over the Tastypie document for days now and just can't figure out how to implement this. I'd provide more examples, but I know they'd be all terrible. All advice is appreciated, thank you!

    I have a table which has a table like this. Month-----Book_Type-----sold_in_Dollars Jan----------A------------ 100 Jan----------B------------ 120 Feb----------A------------ 50 Mar----------A------------ 60 Mar----------B------------ 30 and so on I have to calculate the expected sales for each month and book type based on the last 2 months sales. So for March and type A it would be (100+50)/2 = 75 For March and type B it is 120/1 since no data for Feb is there. I was trying to use the lag function but it wouldn't work since there is data missing in a few rows. Any ideas on this?

    Hi, I have function which appends inputs inside a list item when a link is clicked. I then loop through these inputs using an each loop using the code below. It is working correctly as shown, however instead of using field.name I want to use the class of the input as the array key but when i try to do this the class is shown as undefined. Here is the code I am currently using: var values = {}; $.each($('li :input').serializeArray(), function(i, field) { values[field.name] = field.value; }); Here is the code I have inside the list item once I have appended the hidden inputs using jQuery append: <li><input type="hidden" name="group" class="group" value="2"/><input type="hidden" name="condition" class="condition" value="isany"/><input type="hidden" name="value" class="value" value="1,2"/></li> I can get the name attribute fine but class is always undefined. Could anybody help with this?
