  • Versioning Java APIs in a non-web context

    I have modular java application which consists of 40 modules. Some of these modules needs to expose external APIs which other modules or any external integration should be using. The system runs as a desktop application and each module is bundled as a separate jar file. My plan is to bundle the external api as a separate jar. But now the question is: how can I maintain multiple versions of the same API to keep backward compatibility in cases where it can co-exist? Are there any de facto standards on handling APIs versioning out of a web context ?

  • What is the purpose of a logic question test in an IT Job Interview? [closed]

    I went to interview a week ago for an IT position pertaining to tech support at Ameriprise. I applied and they liked my resume and experience. They then asked me to come in for the "first base." I went in and they gave me 20 logic questions out of which I got 9 correct. After that he told me that they will call me to let me know in 1 week. Does getting 9/20 right on a test like that means I will be rejected OR is it a way for them to know how I think? Please let me know. Thanks!

  • USB audio device not detected [solved]

    I've been having problems with USB sound for some time (it used to work about 6 months ago). I find that any USB sound device that I connect is not recognised, and is not listed by aplay -l I've tried disabling pulseaudio. I've tried purging and re-installing alsa-base, pulseaudio, and pavucontrol. To no avail. I'm using 12.04 LTS. I found the solution: 12.04 does not have the needed kernel module snd-usb-hiface this is introduced in the 3.11.1 kernel and installing that on 12.04 gives USB sound for my equipment.   • Is it advisable to ask employees to create 'work' GitHub accounts?

    I've moved all our company Git repositories to GitHub and now I want to add employees to the projects. Since most employees already have personal GitHub accounts, I'm wondering whether I should ask them to create a work GitHub account. The reason that I'm thinking of doing this is to decrease the chances of unauthorized access to our code base since their personal accounts may be well publicized through their personal activity on the site, increasing chances of targeted attacks. Furthermore, if their personal account is ever compromised it won't mean the whole company code is accessible to the hijacker. Since this will bring the burden of maintaining two accounts for the employees I'm wondering whether it is the correct approach and whether it even makes sense. I would love to hear your opinions on this.

    I'm building a simple airline reservation system (web app) for a class. I'm trying to find out where to start learning about implementing and integrating a sql database. User's should be able to search for available flights based on destination and departure cities and the like. A good example would be Google Flights. I'd like to access a data base with all of the flight information and display it within tables on the web page. Admins should be able to modify the databases as well. I've tried to learn about things like Node.js, PHP, and AJAX, but most of the tutorials that I've found have been difficult to understand. Any suggestions would be really appreciated, thanks!

    I have a database table that contains id, filename, userId id is unique identifier filename should also be unique table may contain 10000 records When a user uploads a file it should be entered in database with given rules: If there is no record with same filename, it should be added as it is (Ex. foobar.pdf) If there is record with same filename, it should be added as uploadedName(2).ext (foobar(2).pdf) If there are n records with same base filename (foobar), it should be added as uploadedName(n+1).ext (foobar(20).pdf) Now if foobar(2).pdf is uploaded, it should be added as foobar(2)(2).pdf & so on This pattern needs to be followed because the file is already being uploaded at client side using ajax before sending the details to server and the file hosting service follows the above rules to name the files. My solution: maintain a file that contains all the names and the number of times it has occurred. if a filename that exists in file is entered, increase occurrence count and new name is generated, else add to it to file if the new name generated is in database, add it to file and generate new name

If I try to ping a machine at the Perimiter network or the Wireless network, it doesn't get routed back to Forefront, and it's the default gateway on all Networks.   • Magento, NGINX, PHP-FPM, APC, MEMCACHED, 16gb Ram CentOS, Spiking PHP-FPM to 100% CPU

    I have been trying to resolve my issue of spiking cpu caused by php-fpm processes. I've reduced the php-fpm config settings to: pm = ondemand pm.max_children = 12 pm.start_servers = 2 pm.min_spare_servers = 2 pm.max_spare_servers = 10 pm.max_requests = 500 php_admin_value[memory_limit] = 128M Problem still exists. I'm running a Joomla main site (which is having no problems) and a Magento store in a sub-directory. My server is a Linux CentOS, running NGINX, APC, Memcached, Full Page Cache and php-fpm. My server has 8 cores and 16gb dedicated ram. My host has shut down my server several times the past week because my php-fpm processes are consuming the entire network. A lot of the individual php-fpm processes are getting over 50% cpu. I've hired several "professionals" and none of them was able to help me, so now broke and stumped, I'm turning to you guys for help. So any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. the server is not using much memory: Mem: 16777216k total, 1204040k used, 15573176k free My.conf settings: query_cache_size = 128M innodb_buffer_pool_size = 512M open-files-limit = 8192 table_cache=4096 I just noticed that someone changed my innodb_buffer_pool_size to 512M. Shouldn't this be set to 80% of available ram? So I have 16gb ram so it should be set at 12G; however, I set it at 10G. What do you think? I made that change and restart everything. Php-fpm is still spiking cpu.     I'm installing the Bitnami Redmine stack (redmine + subversion). Firstly I install configure and test it locally (Ubuntu 14.04 LTS). And everything is OK. I install Bitnami stack on server (Red Hat 4.4.7-4) and configure SVN. I commit files into SVN and connect project into Redmine with SVN repository, but when I try see it Rredmine displays 404 error. If I use the http protocol it works fine, but I should remove access for svn by web. That's why I create virtual host on localhost and get info from svn use 127.0.0.1 IP. <VirtualHost 127.0.0.1:8000> <Location /repo> DAV svn SVNPath "PATH_TO_MY_REPOSITORY" </Location> And this it work good.

    We are using AJAX Cascading dropdown and AutoComplete functionality with Restful WebService Services providing data. With one endpoint(non-secured) eveything was working fine, until we tried same web page with https. Our Webappplication needs to support both. Our of very few articiles/blogs on this issue I found 2 which applies to my requirements. 1. http://blog.abstractlabs.net/2009/02/ajax-wcf-services-and-httphttps.html 2. _http://www.mydotnetworld.com/post/2008/10/18/Use-a-WCF-Service-with-HTTP-and-HTTPS-in-C.aspx I followed same pattern, added 2 endpoints, assuming WCF will pickup appropriate endpoint looking at HTTP or HTTPS protocol. Worked like a charm in my dev machine(XP-IIS5) and 1 Server 2003R2(IIS6), however did work in Production server 2003-IIS6. Website in IIS is exact same(including permission etc). The error it throws - Error 500(Could not find a base address that matches scheme https for the endpoint with binding WebHttpBinding. Registered base address schemes are [http]..)     Hi, I have a WCF Service with the following requirements: a) The client requests a file from the server which is transferred as a Stream. Files may be 100MB or larger. I need streaming or chucking or whatever to make sure that IIS is not loading the whole package into memory before starting to send it. b) The client will transfer an ID to identify the file to be downloaded. The user should be authenticated by providing username/password. c) While the username/password part of the communication needs to be encrypted, encryption of the downloaded file is optional for our use case. My other services, where I am returning smaller files, I am using the following binding: <ws2007HttpBinding> <binding name="ws2007HttpExtern" maxReceivedMessageSize="65536000"> <security mode="Message"> <message clientCredentialType="UserName" /> </security> </binding> </ws2007HttpBinding> But, as I said, that is no good for streaming (Message encryption needs the complete message to encrypt and that is not the case when streaming).     Established app working fine using Android Studio 0.5.9/ Gradle 0.9 but upgrading to Android Studio 0.6.0/ Gradle 0.11 causes the error below. Somehow Studio seems to have lost the ability to resolve the android tools import at the top of the build.gradle file.   • Best way to mock WCF Client proxy

    Are there any ways to mock a WCF client proxy using Rhino mocks framework so I have access to the Channel property? I am trying to unit test Proxy.Close() method but as the proxy is constructed using the abstract base class ClientBast which has the ICommunication interface, my unit test is failing as the internal infrastructure of the class is absent in the mock object. Any good ways with code samples would be greatly appreciated.

  • AjaxControlToolkit.resources.dll files deleted

    I'm using the ASP.NET Ajax toolkit. In addition to the AjaxControlToolkit.dll in my bin directory, I have language directories named es, de, fr, etc... The single file, the AjaxControlToolkit.resources.dll disappears from these directories every once in a while - I can't figure out why. I manually copy them back, but I've purposely done rebuild and clean solutions and they are still there. Somewhere during my normal course of work, when I'm not looking, they're gone. Any clues?

I've set the base sdk to "iPhone Device 4.0" and the Deployment target to "iPhone OS 3.0" but get this message: "_OBJC_CLASS_$_TTURLRequestModel", referenced from: _OBJC_CLASS_$_MockPhotoSource in MockPhotoSource.o What i have to do?     Hey everyone, Struggling to workout when i add the following validtion to my Voice model using paperclip, it is being triggered when i try and upload an mp3: class Voice < ActiveRecord::Base has_attached_file :clip validates_attachment_presence :clip validates_attachment_content_type :clip, :content_type => [ 'application/mp3', 'application/x-mp3', 'audio/mpeg', 'audio/mp3' ], :message => 'file must be of filetype .mp3' validates_attachment_size :clip, :less_than => 10.megabytes validates_presence_of :title end I have tried a number of different mp3 files but none of them seem to upload because the validation is failing.
