• Old PCI Video Card and PCI-Express ATI Radeon HD 4200 Pro Living Together

  I have two video cards installed in a Dell Optiplex 745. The PCI card is from 2001 and I was hoping to be able to install it, allowing me to have 3 monitors. The Radeon is already running two itself. The problem is that when I boot the box with default BIOS settings the PCI card displays video to the single display but not the other two. In device manager I can see that both video cards are visible with drivers loaded correctly but underneath monitors I only have a single Generic PnP monitor from the VGA connection to the PCI card. If I switch the BIOS setting to force PCI-E I get the Radeon to display to the two other monitors. When I check device manager with this configuration I see that the PCI card displays an error saying the driver could not be started. Any ideas?

• Hylafax and "No response to MPS"

  We have an Hylafax 5.2.5 CentOS 5 installation hosted inside a Xen virtual machine. It works quite well, but now I'm in the process of upgrading/migrating it to a KVM virtual machine running Ubuntu 10.04 and Hylafax 5.5.1 (compiled from source using http://sourceforge.net/projects/hylafax/files/hylafax%20debian%20build%20files/ ) The problem I'm having is that - while receiving works fine - sending faxes is extremely unreliable, I get lots of "No response to MPS repeated 3 tries", or "Failure to transmit clean ECM image data." The line, modem and configuration files I'm using are the same as before, so I thought that it could be a KVM scheduling issue, but even setting cpu_shares to 10240 instead of 1024 doesn't change a thing...   I have the following configuration Router : IP: 200.208.88.17 (Internet) MASK: 255.255.255.40 Server 2003 : IP: 10.0.0.1 (with dhcp server ativated) dhcp scope: 10.0.0.11 - 10.0.0.254 MASK: 255.255.255.0 clients : IP: 10.0.0.11 - 10.0.0.254 MASK: 255.255.255.0 At this point I have all computer set-up in one switch. All clients are receiving ip´s from the dhcp server. I need to enable the internet in every client. I am not sure how to route the traffic from the clients to the router that is providing internet access. Could you please point me to the right direction?

  Hello everyone. Question: On FreeBSD8 I need to have two opened HTTPS different ports (443 and 444, for example). In other words, I need two providers, working simultaneously: Ordinary SSL signed certificate (# Thawte) on 443 port Special russian security provider (# DIGTProvider, based on CryptoPro CSP software) on 444 port I also have to mentioned, that the major provider is the 2'nd provider. Here is some of DIGTProvider options: add to ${JRE_HOME}/lib/security/java.security this line security.provider.N=com.digt.trusted.jce.provider.DIGTProvider ssl.SocketFactory.provider=com.digt.trusted.jsse.provider.DigtSocketFactory uncomment and edit in conf/server.xml HTTPS section: sslProtocol="GostTLS" (added) edit bin/catalina.sh and add: export LD_LIBRARY_PATH="${LD_LIBRARY_PATH}:/opt/cprocsp/lib/ia32" export JAVA_OPTS="${JAVA_OPTS} -Dcom.digt.trusted.jsse.server.certFile=/home//server-gost.cer -Dcom.digt.trusted.jsse.server.keyPasswd=11111111" As I know if I just define in server.xml tomcat's configuration file two SSL connectors, tomcat would not start, because in JRE you can use only one JSSE provider. • Apache Errordocument (custom 503 page) works intermittently

  We have Apache 2.2 running on Windows 2k3 and 2k8 R2 as a reverse proxy to downstream applications. Some of these applications may go offline during off-peak hours so we've implemented a custom 503 page like so: ErrorDocument 503 /error/serverTimeout.html ErrorDocument 504 /error/serverTimeout.html (the error directory is in Apaches's htdocs folder) If I make these changes, restart apache and then access the down application on firefox I see the custom page as expected. I then access it using my IE browser, it also works. If I close my IE browser and access it again, I get Apache's standard "Service Temporarily Unavailable" message instead of my custom page. Once I receive the standard error message, I never get the custom page again until I restart Apache. I've put the server on debug and I can't see any difference between the requests which return the custom error page and the requests which return the standard error message. Is there some weird proxy setting which is messing with the errordocument configuration? Any ideas?

• Apache proxy is modifying the HTTP status code

  I am using Apache as a proxy frontend for a Java web application, which is deployed on WebSphere. The web application is using custom status codes (55x) to signal specific errors to the clients. When accessing the web application directly through the WebSphere HTTP listener, everything works as expected, but when these requests are proxied through an Apache load balancer, the status codes are modified by Apache and replaced with a generic 500 error code (internal server error). In Apache's access.log, the correct status code is logged: <IP> - - [11/Nov/2011:17:24:53 +0100] "POST <URL> HTTP/1.1" 551 36 But the actual response received by the client starts like this (logged with tcpdump): HTTP/1.1 500 Internal Server Error ... Followed by the real status code in the response content: ... Error 551: Berichteter Fehler: 551 ... Is there an obvious reason for this behaviour or does someone have a suggestion on how to modify the Apache configuration to forward the "real" status code instead of 500?

  Scenario: I have a website - www.mydomain.com. Registered users will be given the choice of getting a permanent url to their account on mydomain.com as a subdomain like (username.mydomain.com) or they can opt to have their own domain like www.userdomain.com. So the user can access his/her account through the subdomain URL or their own hostname and the request should be forwarded to a specific url on mydomain.com. For example: xyz.mydomain.com or www.xyz.com should give the user account from www.mydomain.com/webapp/account?id=xyz. The user should be completely unaware about where the content is coming from. Setup: My website is running as a webapp in tomcat 5.5.28 with apache as the web server. I am using a VPS which means I have control over all the configuration files (apache, tomcat and dns server). Can you tell me what are the configurations needed to achieve the above scenario??

  I had no problems using my Windows Media Center Remote with 10.10 Mythbuntu, but after upgrading, it no longer affects Mythbuntu. I have verified and re-installed it in Mythbuntu Control Centre. I have used irw to verify the ir buttons actions are properly received by the HTPC. • How can I set up sendmail to forward all mail to an external MTA?

  We have multiple applications that currently talk SMTP to an external MTA. The emails have arbitrary destination domains (they're emails to be sent to our users), but all from the same internal domain ([email protected]). I want to set up an internal MTA (i guess with sendmail) that queues all mails, and have the internal MTA forward these emails to the external MTA, because the external MTA occasionally goes down and this causes various problems in our applications. I figure I can set up sendmail as a queuing middleware. If the above assumptions are correct, what would the sendmail configuration look like? The 'mailertable' feature looks promising, and so does 'SMART_HOST'. Any thoughts before I explore these possibilities? Jae

• weird resolving of path to command

  I have the terminal editor 'nano' installed in two places on my mac /usr/bin/nano /opt/local/bin/nano The installations are of different versions. the one in /usr does not support my configuration in ~/.nanorc and the one in /opt does. when i open a file with the command 'nano file', errors are displayed, indicating that the one in /usr was used, however, if i run 'which nano'; the one in /opt shows up. Isn't 'which' meant to search the path for the default? And why wouldn't a call to 'nano' resolve to the same path? EDIT: I made a work-around by adding the following line to ~/.profile alias nano='/opt/local/bin/nano'

• Making a C# w/ WPF multiple frame text / pseudo-calendar GUI application [closed]

  I am editing a recently asked question and making it specific, taking the advice of some people here. I would like to program of the following simple form: The user can produce X number of resizable frames (analogous to HTML frames). Each frame serves as a simple text editor, which you can type into and save the whole configuration including resized windows and text. The user should be able alternately "freeze" and present the information, and "unfreeze" and edit frames. I want to use C## with WPF, in Microsoft's Visual C#. I do not yet know this language. I am sure I can pick up the syntax, but I would like to ask about some general advice for how to structure such a program. I have never made a GUI program, let alone one that interfaces with a notepad or some basic text editor. Can someone either direct me to a good resource that will teach me how to do the above? Or outline the basic ingredients that such a program will require, keeping in mind that though I know some C and Python, I have no experience with GUIs or advanced programming generally? In particular I don't know how to incorporate this "text editor" aspect of the program, as well as the resizable frames I would greatly appreciate any help.

I am trying to get ProfFTPD work over TLS, however it seems that proftpd is lacking mod_tls support, even though it was compiled with mod_tls. # proftpd -l Compiled-in modules: mod_core.c mod_xfer.c mod_auth_unix.c mod_auth_file.c mod_auth.c mod_ls.c mod_log.c mod_site.c mod_delay.c mod_facts.c mod_ident.c mod_ratio.c mod_readme.c mod_cap.c As you can see there is no mod_tls.c, however, the DirectAdmin configuration file for proftpd suggests that it was built with TLS support: # cat /usr/local/directadmin/custombuild/configure/proftpd/configure.proftpd #!/bin/sh install_user=ftp \ install_group=ftp \ ./configure \ --prefix=/usr \ --sysconfdir=/etc \ --localstatedir=/var/run \ --mandir=/usr/share/man \ --without-pam \ --disable-auth-pam \ --enable-nls \ --with-modules=mod_ratio:mod_readme:mod_tls And all I get when I try to connect over FTPS using FileZilla is: Raspuns: 220 ProFTPD 1.3.3c Server ready. Comanda: AUTH TLS Raspuns: 500 AUTH not understood Comanda: AUTH SSL Raspuns: 500 AUTH not understood Am I missing something? thanks.

• Where does amavisd-new log on ubuntu, by default

  I have a misbehaving amavisd on a mail server. It starts and then silently stops. Init script outputs successful start whan invoked manually, however the next second I check the status and the service is off. Nothing is listening on it's ports. I googled. I checked out the configuration files, I checked out init.d script. It starts, then it stops. And I have no idea what's going on, since I can't find the log file (no it's not /var/log/amavis.log or anything logical like that).

• Vista Enterprise doesn't find logon servers in a network with 802.1x authentication

  In a network with 802.1x configuration and a samba server configured in the domain, I have a radius server that delegates the authentication against the samba domain for users (using LDAP). The radius defines which VLAN the user is supposed to have access. I'm trying to put a Windows Vista Enterprise in the same network, but it attempts to logon the domain before authenticating against the network in 802.1x and it doesn't find any logon servers. In the radius logs I see the machine trying to authenticate with 'host/'. Does Vista enterprise require that I put it in a network with access to the logon server at that point? • Encrypted home breaks on login

  My home is encrypted, which breaks the login. Gnome and other services try to find all sorts of .files, write to them, read from them and so on. E.g. .ICEauthority. They are not found (yet) because at that moment the home is still encrypted. I do not have automatic login set, since that has known issues with encrypted home in Ubuntu. When I go trough the following steps, there is no problem: boot up the system. [ctr][alt][F1], login. run ecryptfs-mount-private [ctr][alt][F7], done. Can now login. I may have some setting wrong, but have no idea where. I suspect ecryptfs-mount-private should be ran earlier in bootstrap, but do not know how to make it so. Some issues that may cause trouble: I have a fingerprint reader, it works for login and PAM. I have three keyrings in seahorse, containing passwords from old machines (backups). Not just one. Suggestion was that the PAM settings are wrong, so here are the relevant parts from /etc/pam.d/common-auth. # here are the per-package modules (the "Primary" block) auth [success=3 default=ignore] pam_fprintd.so auth [success=2 default=ignore] pam_unix.so nullok_secure try_first_pass auth [success=1 default=ignore] pam_winbind.so krb5_auth krb5_ccache_type=FILE cached_login try_first_pass # here's the fallback if no module succeeds auth requisite pam_deny.so # prime the stack with a positive return value if there isn't one already; # this avoids us returning an error just because nothing sets a success code # since the modules above will each just jump around auth required pam_permit.so # and here are more per-package modules (the "Additional" block) auth optional pam_ecryptfs.so unwrap # end of pam-auth-update config I am not sure about how this configuration works, but ut seems that maybe the*optional* in auth optional pam_ecryptfs.so unwrap is causing the ecryptfs to be ignored?

• How to have supervisord follows the new unicorn process after USR2 rolling restart?

  I have configured supervisord to track my unicorn server process. When I send USR2 process, this performs a rolling restart. After this operation the old unicorn master have restarted and then changed PID. This caused supervisor to lose track of the unicorn process considering it as EXITED. How can I have supervisord to follow the new unicorn process after this operation ? Unicorn has a PID file available, but I have not found an option in supervisord configuration for this. An other option would be to have supervisord to send itself the USR2 signal, but I don't know how to perform this and whether it will prevent my problem from occurring.

When testing it, get this SMTP Error: SMTP Error: The following recipients failed [address]" Based on my research and a reply from the software's support team this error usually occurs because relaying is not allowed on the SMTP server from the IP address of the web server. The solution is to "Go to the configuration of your SMTP server and turn relaying on for your IP address" My question is -- how do I do this? Is this done from WHM? cPanel?

• Monitoring IIS with SNMP

  Hello, I'm trying to monitor IIS using the Windows integrated SNMP service (for versions 2000, 2003 ans 2008 of Windows Server, but i'm doing my experiments on a 2008 R2 box). So far I was able to install the SNMP service, and query mib-2 values without problems. Now, I'm having trouble to monitor IIS informations, as the SNMP service does not seem to know about the .iso.org.dod.internet.private.enterprises.microsoft.software.internetServer OIDs. Walking the entire SNMP tree only gets the mib-2 stuff as well as the names of some services, but that's it. I did't find anything interesting in the service configuration panel. So how do I configure this service to get IIS information, or other WMI data for that matter (I installed the SNMP WMI Provider) ? I can't find any documentation about that !

• How do I set up a shared internet on a network using computer hooked up to a router

  I got a wireless broadband modem (Huawei E1750) hooked up to my computer (call it A., running Windows-7) whose internet I wish to share to my other computer (call it B., also running Windows-7). A. is hooked up to my d-link DIR-600 router using a wired connection to port 1 on the router. B. is connected to the router using a wireless connection. Now I have tried setting up the sharing according to the help files for ICS but I have not been able to get it working. I suspect that there is something in my hardware configuration that is making it difficult. I would appreciate some tips and pointers as to what could be the reason to my problems.
