    I've been using Putty for years now and it seems kind of dated. What are some good alternatives to Putty that use tabs to manage console sessions (managing individual putty windows is a messy pita). Edit: I've found the holy grail of SSH clients on SO, the PuTTY Connection Manager. Its the same old client with a new face :).   • Different Azure blob streams when using .Net client vs. REST interface

    I have encountered an unusual difference in the way that the .Net client for Azure and the direct REST API bring back streams of binary data. If I use the CloundBlob.DownloadToStream() vs. getting the response stream from the HTTP response, I get streams with the same length, but different content. Specifically the REST response seems to 0 out a series of bytes. I've discovered this issue because I'm trying to use the byte range feature for blobs which is currently not supported in the .Net client (if I'm wrong on this point and someone can point at where I can do this it might make the rest of this question irrelevant).   • How to install libv8 using a specific version of g++?

    I'm trying to install therubyracer gem for a rails project - http://stackoverflow.com/questions/13793533/unable-to-install-therubyracer-on-centos-errors-with-v8-and-gcc and i'm thinking that now that i installed g++44, that all i need to do is get gem install libv8 to use g++44 instead of g++. Is there a way to run gem install libv8 and to have it look at my updated g++ version?   • Using 32bit COM object from C# or VBS on Vista 64bit and getting error 80004005

    I need some mind reading here, since I am trying to do what I do not completely understand. There is a 32-bit application (electronic trading application called CQG) which provides a COM API for external access. I have sample programs and scripts which access this API from Excel, .NET (C++, VB and C#) and shell VBScript. I have these .NET applications as source code and as compiled executables (32-bit, compiled on Windows XP). Now I have Windows Vista Home 64-bit which makes my head to spin. Excel examples work just fine (in Excel 2003). Compiled .NET sample executables work as well. But when I am trying to run .NET C# sample converted to and compiled by Visual Studio C# Expression, or run the VBScript script, I am getting error 80004005 when trying to create an object. Initially the .NET application also gave me 80040154 but then I figured how to make it produce 32-bit code and not 64-bit, so now the errors in C# and VBScript applications are the same. That's all the progress I got for now. And yes, I tried running 32-bit versions of cscript.exe/WScript from SysWOW64 folder on my VBS, but still the result is the same (80004005). How to solve this problem? I am almost ready to believe it is practically impossible, but the fact that Excel VBA works and .NET executables compiled on Windows XP run just fine just makes me angry. There should be a way to beat this thing (some secret which probably only Windows Vista developers know)! I will appreciate any help! PS: I believe code samples do not make much sense here, but this is the line of VBScript which fails: Set CEL = WScript.CreateObject("CQG.CQGCEL.4.0", "CEL_") And this is C#: CQGCEL CEL = new CQGCEL(); Update: Forgot to say UAC is off, of course. And I am working from account with administrator priviledges. I also tried watching which registry keys are read using Process Monitor but everything looks OK for GUIDs of this object. I could not recognize some other GUIDs so I am not sure whether they were critical or not. Is there a chance that this COM object uses Internet Explorer and gets the wrong one (like Internet Explorer 7 instead of Internet Explorer 6 engine or something)?

    I decided to post this because I battled to find out how to do it and couldnt see anything on Stackoverflow about it. Often when you host with a provider like GoDaddy, they have "Custom Error Messages" set to ON. What I didnt realise was that the web.config settings dont just apply to ASP.NET, they apply to all applications on YOUR IIS site and hence will sort this problem out for Classic ASP as well (very few GoDaddy support people even know this) All you need to do is add the following to your web.config OR, for those using Classic ASP, just create a web.config file in your ROOT with this code in it. <configuration> <system.webServer> <asp scriptErrorSentToBrowser="true"/> <httpErrors errorMode="Detailed"/> </system.webServer> </configuration>

    Hello, I have created an application that records a series of longitude and latitude values in a SQLite database and display them as a coloured track on a MapActivity. I now want to be able to export this data somehow (preferably to a file) so a user can upload the values to a website showing a Google Map API.     Hi! I'd like to access the the google calendar api from a Silverlight client. Problem is that there's no crossdomain or clientaccesspolicy that allows calls from my client at www.google.com/crossdomain.xml Question is: Will a call from a SL running out of browser, and in full trust still be classified as a crossdomain call? Are there any other ways to access the gdata from my SL client? (other than using the server as a proxy) Regards Larsi

  • Can you authenticate into SSAS with AD LDS (ADAM) accounts?

    I'm very new to AD LDS and experienced but not qualified with SSAS, so my apologies for my ignorances with these. We have a couple implementations where we expose SSAS via an HTTPS proxy (msmdpump.dll) and currently we have a temporary domain setup handling this (where our end-users have a second account+creds to manage because of this = non-ideal). I want to move us towards a more permanent solution which I'm thinking of moving all authentication to AD LDS for our web apps, SSAS, and others. However, SSAS is where I'm concerned about this. I know SSAS requires Windows Authentication and to play nicely, and that this ultimately means Active Directory will be involved. Is there a way to get this done with AD LDS instead of having to use a full AD DS implementation? If so, how? (Note: My question over at StackOverflow had a suggestion that I post this question here on ServerFault instead. My apologies if I'm not asking in the right forum.)

    Hello, I'm a newbie to StackOverflow so please be kind ;) I'm using Entity Framework in Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 (.NET framework 4.0 Beta 2). I have created an entity framework .edmx model from my database and I have a handful of many-to-many relationships. A trivial example of my database schema is Roles (ID, Name, Active) Members (ID, DateOfBirth, DateCreated) RoleMembership(RoleID, MemberID) I am now writing the custom role provider (Inheriting System.Configuration.Provider.RoleProvider) and have come to write the implementation of IsUserInRole(username, roleName). The LINQ-to-Entity queries which I wrote, when SQL-Profiled, all produced CROSS JOIN statements when what I want is for them to INNER JOIN. So please can somebody advise how, in VB, I can construct a LINQ statement which would do this equivalent in SQL: SELECT rm.RoleID FROM RoleMembership rm INNER JOIN Roles r ON r.ID = rm.RoleID INNER JOIN Members m ON m.ID = rm.MemberID WHERE r.Name = 'Member' AND m.ID = 101 I would use this query to see if Member 101 is in Role 3.   • Mac OS X 10.6 issues connecting via vpn to Microsoft server

    I am currently running Mac OS X Snow Leopard and trying to use the native vpn client to connect to our Microsoft vpn server. If I route all traffic via the vpn connection I am able to connect to our servers, however, external traffic to i.e. google or stack overflow is blocked. If I uncheck the checkbox to route all traffic via the vpn I can connect to the vpn, however, I can not connect to my servers, external traffic to google or stackoverflow works though. Is this a vpn client issue, do I need to purchase Mac OS X vpn software instead of the native client, or is there a Microsoft vpn server setting that has to be checked. I am not familiar with the server software, but I wanted to post this question here to help out our network admin with the Mac OS X machines.

There's a few applications out there that use bubbles that look verbatim to the iPhone's and I'm wondering if they're using a native widget or their own image.   • Loop OpenAL source with offset

    The OpenAL API states that an setting an offset still causes the sound to loop back to zero for looping sources. But is there a way to loop and still have an offset somehow? I have an mp3, and since it contains headers with information at the start of the file, there's a small, but noticable, delay in looping when it rewinds. If not, are there any other compressed formats that don't contain these empty headers?

  • Integrated Windows Authentication with Chrome and FireFox

    I have a webapplication which uses claims based authentication. The STS is ADFS 2.0. When I am in the intranet and use IE, IWA is used and no login dialog appears. When I am on the internet zone, the Forms based authentication of ADFS is used. Just what I want. Chrome and FireFox are also working as expected when I am in the internet zone. But when I am in the intranet zone, both come with a login dialog, instead of using IWA. And supplying my credentials in that dialog does not work, it keeps repeating the dialog. Any hints? UPDATE: Did about an hour searching on the internet before I asked this question. But after asking it I did just another search giving the answer :-), matter of finding the correct keywords.
