• SSL on Heroku / User Authentication Across Multiple Domains

- by Euwyn
Posted a previous question on this, but have a followup. I was trying to create a workaround to use SSL on the expensive custom domain. I'm willing to live with bumping a user to https://app.heroku.com from http://www.app.com for certain secure pages, and have monkey-patched SSL required to make this happen. However, now this issue is with making sure my User is logged in when I do so. As I understand, cookies aren't cross domain. Is there a way around this issue?

• jsonp is not firing beforeSend?

- by user283357
Hi All, I am working on a project to call a webservice from different domain using $.ajax with dataType set to jsonp. $.ajax({ type: "GET", url: testService.asmx, async: true, contentType: "application/json; charset=utf-8", dataType: "jsonp", beforeSend: function (XMLHttpRequest) { alert('Before Send'); //Nothing happnes }, success: function (response) { alert('Success'); //this was fired }, complete: function (XMLHttpRequest, textStatus) { alert('After Send'); //this was fired } }); The problem is I have a ...loading animation which I want to display while the web service request is being processed. I tried using "beforeSend:" to show the loading animation but it seems like "beforeSend" is not getting fired. The animation works fine when the app is on the same domain (using jsonp) but when I move the app into a different server, everything works except "beforeSend" is not getting called. So users will not be able to see the loading animation. Is there any workaround for this?

• Seed data for grails application

- by bsreekanth
Hello, What is the best way to load seed (initial or test) data into grails application. I'm considering 3 options 1. Putting everything in *BootStrap.groovy files. This is tedious if the domain classes and test data are many. 2. Write custom functionality to load it through xml. May not be too difficult with the excellent xml support by groovy, but lot of switch statements for different domain classes. 3. Use Liquibase LoadData api. I see you can load the data fairly easy from csv files. Choice 3 seems the easiest. But, I'm not familiar with Liquibase. Is it good in this scenario, or only used for migration, db changes etc. If anyone could provide a better sol, or point to an example with Liquibase, it would be great help.. thanks...

• Best way for allowing subdomain session cookies using Tomcat

- by Andrew Ingram
By default tomcat will create a session cookie for the current domain. If you are on www.example.com, your cookie will be created for www.example.com (will only work on www.example.com). Whereas for example.com it will be created for .example.com (desired behaviour, will work on any subdomain of example.com as well as example.com itself). I've seen a few Tomcat valves which seem to intercept the creation of session cookies and create a replacement cookie with the correct .example.com domain, however none of them seem to work flawlessly and they all appear to leave the existing cookie and just create a new one. This means that two JSESSIONID cookies are being sent with each request. I was wondering if anybody has a definitive solution to this problem.

• Getting an Access 2007 table (.accdb extension) in ArcMap programmatically

I have recently found a script from ArcScripts on how to get an Access table in ArcGIS programmatically and it works well. But this is for Access 2003 (.mdb extension) and earlier. • Django: reverse lookup URL of feeds?

- by Santa
I am having trouble doing a reverse URL lookup for Django-generated feeds. I have the following setup in urls.py: feeds = { 'latest': LatestEntries, } urlpatterns = patterns('', # ... # enable feeds (RSS) url(r'^feeds/(?P
.*)/$', 'django.contrib.syndication.views.feed', {'feed_dict': feeds}, name='feeds_view'), ) I have tried using the following template tag: RSS feeds But the resulting link is not what want (http://my.domain.com/feeds//). It should be http://my.domain.com/feeds/latest/. For now, I am using a hack to generate the URL for the template: RSS feeds But, as you can see, it clearly is not DRY. Is there something I am missing?

• Using Apple’s Bonjour service from .NET?

- by Martín Marconcini
I have an iPhone app that publishes through Bonjour. The Mac counterpart works, they sync and exchange data. Now I have to port that little Mac app to Windows. I’ve decided to go with .NET (because that’s what I know). The app is not complex, but I’m in the early stages. I need to browse/discover Bonjour services. For this task, I’ve downloaded Mono.Zeroconf and Apple’s latest SDK (which includes a couple of C# Samples). I’m not really pasting code because I’m really copy/pasting the samples. In fact, Mono.Zeroconf has a MZClient.exe that can be used to test “all the API”. My 1st test was -on the same box- open two cmd.exe and launch a MZclient registering a service and on the other, launch it and “discover it”. It doesn’t work. Here’s the server: C:\MZ>MZClient -v -p "_http._tcp 80 mysimpleweb” *** Registering name = 'mysimpleweb', type = '_http._tcp', domain = 'local.' *** Registered name = ‘mysimpleweb’ On the other terminal: c:\MZ>MZClient -v -t "_http._tcp" Creating a ServiceBrowser with the following settings: Interface = 0 (All) Address Protocol = Any Domain = local Registration Type = _http._tcp Resolve Shares = False Hit ^C when you're bored waiting for responses. And that’s it. Nothing happens. I’ve of course tried with different services to no avail. Even played a little bit with that domain thing. Remember this is the same box. I tried on another computer, because this was a VM inside OSX, so I went ahead and tried on a “pure” win XP. Nothing. note: I have Apple Bonjour Service (up and running) and also the Apple SDK (installed later). Given that this didn’t work, I went ahead and decided to try the Apple SDK which has an Interop and a few pre-compiled samples (and its source code). Short story, neither the mDSNBrowser.exe nor the SimpleChat.exe work/see/discover anything. My box is a Win7 under Parallels, but that doesn’t seem to be affecting anything, given that the native XP exhibits the same problems. What am I doing so awfully wrong?

• Javascript upload in spite of same origin policy

- by Brian M. Hunt
Can one upload files to a domain other than the domain a script originates from? For example, suppose you're hosting files on www.example.com, and you want to upload files to uploads.example.com, would the following script violate the same origin policy (using uploadify): I haven't seen a clear reference on the same origin policy that would indicate one-way or the other whether the this would be an issue with any browsers.

• How to implement SAML SSO

- by A_M
How is SAML SSO typically implemented? I've read this about using SAML with Google Apps, and the wikipedia entry on SAML. The wikipedia entry talks about responding with forms containing details of the SAMLRequest and SAMLResponse. Does this mean that the user has to physically submit the form in order to proceed with the single sign on? The google entry talks about using redirects, which seems more seemless to me. However, it also talks about using a form for the response which the user must submit (although it does talk about using JavaScript to automatically submit the form). Is this the standard way of doing this? Using redirects and JavaScript for form submission? Does anyone know of any other good resources about how to go about implementing SSO between a Windows Domain and a J2EE web application. The web application is on a separate network/domain. My client wants to use CA Siteminder (with SAML).

• Redirecting http request to two different weblogic servers using the Weblogic proxy and Apache2

- by Jhon
Hello All, I've read previous posts like "Redirecting https requests to two different weblogic servers using the Weblogic proxy and Apache2". But I have a different situation and I don't think I'm understanding this to well. I have an Apache 2 server (server1) that will receive http request for my application. Then I have two more servers (server2 and server3) with Web Logic 9.2 runing on ports 7000 (server1) and 8000 (server2). I want the users to enter appname.domain.com and be redirected between the two web logic servers, always keeping appname.domain.com (this is hidding servername:port from URL). How can I manage to do that? Thanks in advanced! Jhon.

• VSS to TFS Migration - Persist User on check-in actions

- by Adam Jenkin
I am using the VSSConveter.exe tool to import from VSS6 (using 2005 ide) to TFS2008. I have run analyze (no errors) and migrate WITH a user mapping file (containg the vss/domain user mappings) I would like to persist in tfs the check-in user of the file, currently the check-in user for all versions of file shows as admin (the account im running the import with), the origional check-in user is appended to the check-in comment. For example:- TestFile.aspx in VSS Check in ver: 1 - User:Adam - Comment:TEST1 Check in ver: 2 - User:James - Comment:TEST2 Check in ver: 3 - User:Joel - Comment:TEST2 After import into TFS Check in ver: 1 - User:mydomain\Admin - Comment:TEST1 (Commited by Adam) Check in ver: 2 - User:mydomain\Admin - Comment:TEST2 (Commited by James) Check in ver: 3 - User:mydomain\Admin - Comment:TEST2 (Commited by Joel) In TFS I want the user to show as the correct domain user as configured in my user mapping file. Is this possible, or is this just how the VSSConverter program works?

• Why are emails sent from my applications being marked as spam?

- by Brian
Hi. I have 2 web apps running on the same server. The first is www.nimikri.com and the other is www.hourjar.com. Both apps share the same IP address (75.127.100.175). My server is through a shared hosting company. I've been testing my apps, and at first all my emails were being delivered to me just fine. Then a few days ago every email from both apps got dumped into my spam box (in gmail and google apps). So far the apps have just been sending emails to me and nobody else, so I know people aren't manually flagging them as spam. I did a reverse DNS lookup for my IP and the results I got were these: 100.127.75.in-addr.arpa NS DNS2.GNAX.NET. 100.127.75.in-addr.arpa NS DNS1.GNAX.NET. Should the reverse DNS lookup point to nimikri.com and hourjar.com, or are they set up fine the way they are? I noticed in the email header these 2 lines: Received: from nimikri.nimikri.com From: Hour Jar <[email protected]> Would the different domain names be causing gmail to think this is spam? Here is the header from one of the emails. Please let me know if any of this looks like a red flag for spam. Thanks. • How does Windows LIve ID work?

- by Morgan Cheng
I happens to find this nice article explaining how OpenID works. Clearly, OpenID consumer and OpenID server transfer information through URL query string. I'm wondering how Live ID accomplish similar functionality. It seems the info is not exchanged through query string in URL. And, since Live ID login server have different domain name from consumer domain, it is not applicable to transfer info through cookie. I tried to google tutorial of Live ID, but the result is full of jargon and hard to understand. Is there any easy-to-understand tutorial about How Live ID works?

• Kohana3 Route with Subdirectories in Controller Folder

- by ahmet2106
Hello everybody I'm using Kohana for so long, but the new Version is a litte bit other. My problem with an example: classes/ controller/ pages.php pages/ imprint.php I want to change my Route so, that if i call domain.tld/pages, the pages.php should called with action_index(). But if i call domain.tld/pages/imprint, pages/imprint.php should called with action_index() (and this should work too: pages/imprint/demo - action_demo() in pages/imprint.php) Tried this with bootstrap and http://kohanaframework.org/guide/api/Route this examples, but cant get it work. How can i make this? Any help? Thanks Closed: was my fault The Route::set('pages'...) must be before Route::set('default'...);

• Trouble on setting SSL certificates for Virtual Hosts using Apache\Phusion Passenger in localhost

- by user502052
I am using Ruby on Rails 3 and I would like to make to work HTTPS connections on localhost. I am using: Apache v2 + Phusion Passenger Mac OS + Snow Leopard v10.6.6 My Ruby on Rails installation use the Typhoeus gem (it is possible to use the Ruby net\http library but the result doesn't change) to make HTTP requests over HTTPS. I created self-signed ca.key, pjtname.crt and pjtname.key as detailed on the Apple website. Notice: Following instruction from the Apple website, on running the openssl req -new -key server.key -out server.csr command (see the link) at this point Common Name (eg, YOUR name) []: (this is the important one) I entered *pjtname.com so that is valid for all sub_domain of that site. In my Apache httpd.conf I have two virtual hosts configured in this way: # Secure (SSL/TLS) connections #Include /private/etc/apache2/extra/httpd-ssl.conf # # Note: The following must must be present to support # starting without SSL on platforms with no /dev/random equivalent # but a statically compiled-in mod_ssl. # <IfModule ssl_module> SSLRandomSeed startup builtin SSLRandomSeed connect builtin </IfModule> Include /private/etc/apache2/other/*.conf # Passenger configuration LoadModule passenger_module /Users/<my_user_name>/.rvm/gems/ruby-1.9.2-p136/gems/passenger-3.0.2/ext/apache2/mod_passenger.so PassengerRoot /Users/<my_user_name>/.rvm/gems/ruby-1.9.2-p136/gems/passenger-3.0.2 PassengerRuby /Users/<my_user_name>/.rvm/wrappers/ruby-1.9.2-p136/ruby # Go ahead and accept connections for these vhosts # from non-SNI clients SSLStrictSNIVHostCheck off # Ensure that Apache listens on port 443 Listen 443 # Listen for virtual host requests on all IP addresses NameVirtualHost *:80 NameVirtualHost *:443 # # PJTNAME.COM and subdomains SETTING # <VirtualHost *:443> # Because this virtual host is defined first, it will # be used as the default if the hostname is not received # in the SSL handshake, e.g. if the browser doesn't support # SNI. All this means that something is wrong. So, what I have to do to avoid the "Peer certificate cannot be authenticated with known CA certificates" warning and make the HTTPS request to work? Where is\are the error\errors (I think in the Apache configuration, but where?!)? P.S.: if you need some more info, let me know.

• How to handle CSS relative paths in an ASP.NET MVC application.

- by AngryHacker
I have a master page, which has a style sheet, which has the following line: .idle { background-image: url( '../../Images/blue_bg.png' ); } All my pages inherit from this master page. And this works well when the URL is http://www.domain.com/home/details/5, however the URL is http://www.domain.com/home/create, then, of course, blue_bg.png cannot be found because `../../Images/blue_bg.png' resolves to a directory one higher where there is nothing there. I tried the trick suggested by @codemeit in a similar question, but I can't plop down C# in a style sheet, can I? How is this typically handled?

• Correct XML serialization and deserialization of "mixed" types in .NET

- by Stefan
My current task involves writing a class library for processing HL7 CDA files. These HL7 CDA files are XML files with a defined XML schema, so I used xsd.exe to generate .NET classes for XML serialization and deserialization. The XML Schema contains various types which contain the mixed="true" attribute, specifying that an XML node of this type may contain normal text mixed with other XML nodes. The relevant part of the XML schema for one of these types looks like this: <xs:complexType name="StrucDoc.Paragraph" mixed="true"> <xs:sequence> <xs:element name="caption" type="StrucDoc.Caption" minOccurs="0"/> <xs:choice minOccurs="0" maxOccurs="unbounded"> <xs:element name="br" type="StrucDoc.Br"/> <xs:element name="sub" type="StrucDoc.Sub"/> <xs:element name="sup" type="StrucDoc.Sup"/>  </xs:choice> </xs:sequence> <xs:attribute name="ID" type="xs:ID"/>  </xs:complexType> The generated code for this type looks like this: /// <remarks/> [System.CodeDom.Compiler.GeneratedCodeAttribute("xsd", "2.0.50727.3038")] [System.SerializableAttribute()] [System.Diagnostics.DebuggerStepThroughAttribute()] [System.ComponentModel.DesignerCategoryAttribute("code")] [System.Xml.Serialization.XmlTypeAttribute(TypeName="StrucDoc.Paragraph", Namespace="urn:hl7-org:v3")] public partial class StrucDocParagraph { private StrucDocCaption captionField; private object[] itemsField; private string[] textField; private string idField; // ...fields for other attributes... /// <remarks/> public StrucDocCaption caption { get { return this.captionField; } set { this.captionField = value; } } /// <remarks/> [System.Xml.Serialization.XmlElementAttribute("br", typeof(StrucDocBr))] [System.Xml.Serialization.XmlElementAttribute("sub", typeof(StrucDocSub))] [System.Xml.Serialization.XmlElementAttribute("sup", typeof(StrucDocSup))] // ...other possible nodes... public object[] Items { get { return this.itemsField; } set { this.itemsField = value; } } /// <remarks/> [System.Xml.Serialization.XmlTextAttribute()] public string[] Text { get { return this.textField; } set { this.textField = value; } } /// <remarks/> [System.Xml.Serialization.XmlAttributeAttribute(DataType="ID")] public string ID { get { return this.idField; } set { this.idField = value; } } // ...properties for other attributes... } If I deserialize an XML element where the paragraph node looks like this: <paragraph>first line

third line</paragraph> The result is that the item and text arrays are read like this: itemsField = new object[] { new StrucDocBr(), new StrucDocBr(), }; textField = new string[] { "first line", "third line", }; From this there is no possible way to determine the exact order of the text and the other nodes. If I serialize this again, the result looks exactly like this: <paragraph>

first linethird line </paragraph> The default serializer just serializes the items first and then the text. I tried implementing IXmlSerializable on the StrucDocParagraph class so that I could control the deserialization and serialization of the content, but it's rather complex since there are so many classes involved and I didn't come to a solution yet because I don't know if the effort pays off. Is there some kind of easy workaround to this problem, or is it even possible by doing custom serialization via IXmlSerializable? Or should I just use XmlDocument or XmlReader/XmlWriter to process these documents?

• Windows Authentication for winforms with Windows 2000

- by The King
I use the following code to validate users through windows authentication for my winform application. This works fine with windows XP but when the user is using windows 2000, it says that the userid or password is in valid. How do I do this in Windows 2000. Further, How do I detect whether the user is using Windows Xp or windows 2000. [System.Runtime.InteropServices.DllImport("advapi32.dll")] public static extern bool LogonUser(string userName, string domainName, string password, int LogonType, int LogonProvider, ref IntPtr phToken); public bool IsValidateCredentials(string userName, string password, string domain) { IntPtr tokenHandler = IntPtr.Zero; bool isValid = LogonUser(userName, domain, password, 2, 0, ref tokenHandler); return isValid; } Thanks

• How to load models in the extended MY_Router class in codeigniter

- by askkirati
I am not able to load models to the extended My_Router class in codeigniter. Below is my code: class MY_Router extends CI_Router { function MY_Router() { parent::CI_Router(); } function _validate_request($segments) { // Does the requested controller exist in the root folder? if (file_exists(APPPATH.'controllers/'.$segments[0].EXT)) { return $segments; } // Is the controller in a sub-folder? if (is_dir(APPPATH.'controllers/'.$segments[0])) { // Set the directory and remove it from the segment array $this->set_directory($segments[0]); $segments = array_slice($segments, 1); if (count($segments) > 0) { // Does the requested controller exist in the sub-folder? if ( ! file_exists(APPPATH.'controllers/'.$this->fetch_directory().$segments[0].EXT)) { show_404($this->fetch_directory().$segments[0]); } } else { $this->set_class($this->default_controller); $this->set_method('index'); // Does the default controller exist in the sub-folder? if ( ! file_exists(APPPATH.'controllers/'.$this->fetch_directory().$this->default_controller.EXT)) { $this->directory = ''; return array(); } } return $segments; } // Let's check if there are category segments $category_routes = $this->category_routing($segments); if($category_routes !== FALSE) { return $category_routes; } $user_routes = $this->user_routing($segments); if($user_routes != FALSE) { return $user_routes; } show_404($segments[0]); } function category_routing($segments) { $this->load->model('category_model'); if($this->category_model->category_exist($segments[0])) { //if only category if(count($segments)==1) { return array('category', 'category_browse', $segments[0]); } //category pagination if(count($segments)==2 and is_numeric($segments[1])) { return array('category','category_browse', $segments[0], $segments[1]); } //category upcoming if(count($segments)==2 and $segments[1] == 'upcoming') { return array('category','upcoming', $segments[0]); } //category upcoming pagination if(count($segments)==3 and $segments[1] == 'upcoming' and is_numeric($segments[3])) { return array('category','upcoming', $segments[0], $segments[3]); } //category top if(count($segments)==3 and $segments[1] == 'top') { return array('category','top', $segments[0], $segments[2]); } //category top pagination if(count($segments)==4 and $segments[1] == 'top' and is_numeric($segments[3])) { return array('category','top', $segments[0], $segments[3]); } } return FALSE; } function user_routing($segments) { $this->load->model('dx_auth/users', 'user_model'); if($this->user_model->check_username($segments[0])) { //only profile if(count($segments)==1) { return array('user','profile',$segments[0]); } //all friends if(count($segments)==2 and $segment[1]=='allfriends') { return array('user','allfriends',$segments[0]); } //all subscribers if(count($segments)==2 and $segment[1]=='allsubscribers') { return array('user','allsubscribers',$segments[0]); } //all subscription if(count($segments)==2 and $segment[1]=='allsubscriptions') { return array('user','allsubscriptions',$segments[0]); } } return FALSE; } } I have tried loading the models by using get_instance function provided by codeigniter but seems like it doesnot work. All i need is load the models in extended system library.

• .NET Active Directory Password Expiration on Windows 2008

- by Brent Pabst
Searched SO and Everywhere else, including the .net developers guide to directory services programming book - no luck. I am trying to create a simple password reset web page that allows the user to change their password. The change password portion of the code is working fine. For the users I would also like to display when their current password will expire next. Using the sample code from the book mentioned above I was able to get all of the code setup however, the attribute that is returned is always equal to Long.MinValue and hence cannot be inverted to a positive number, plus this means it did not find the proper domain setting. Does anyone have sample code or references for getting the password expiration in a Windows 2008 or R2 domain environment where password policies can be different for each user?

• Apache2 several sites and configuration question

- by Hellnar
Hello I want to host several sites from my VPS via apache2 under Debian. For this I removed the default from sites-enabled and added this under /etc/apache/sites-enabled/www.mysite.com : NameVirtualHost *:80 <VirtualHost *:80> ServerName mysite.com ServerAlias www.mysite.com Alias /media/ /home/myuser/mysite/media/ Alias /admin_media/ /home/myuser/django/Django-1.2/django/contrib/admin/media/ WSGIScriptAlias / /home/myuser/mysite/wsgi.py ErrorLog /home/myuser/mysite/logs/error.log CustomLog /home/myuser/mysite/logs/access.log combined </VirtualHost> After that I removed the default symbolic link from sites-enabled/ via: a2dissite default and added the new one: a2ensite www.mysite.com Still, I get this error: Restarting web server: apache2apache2: apr_sockaddr_info_get() failed for myuser apache2: Could not reliably determine the server's fully qualified domain name, using 127.0.0.1 for ServerName [Sat May 29 11:41:13 2010] [warn] NameVirtualHost *:80 has no VirtualHosts apache2: apr_sockaddr_info_get() failed for myuser apache2: Could not reliably determine the server's fully qualified domain name, using 127.0.0.1 for ServerName [Sat May 29 11:41:13 2010] [warn] NameVirtualHost *:80 has no VirtualHosts .
