• Linq ChangeConflictException (ASP.NET MVC) - occurs when submitting DataContext changes

  System.Data.Linq.ChangeConflictException: 2 of X updates failed. at System.Data.Linq.ChangeProcessor.SubmitChanges(ConflictMode failureMode) at System.Data.Linq.DataContext.SubmitChanges(ConflictMode failureMode) at PROJECT.Controllers.HomeController.ClickProc(Int32 id, String code, String n) This is what I get very often. This action is done thousands of times a day, and I get this exception about once every 5 seconds. From what I understand it happens when something changes in the database in the period between creating DataContext and updating it. Am I right? What's the problem here and how can I fix it?

• Using slime's C-x C-e (Eval the form under the point) with swank-clojure in emacs

  Hi, I'm using swank-clojure in emacs on OSX. I'm able to run a slime session. When I use C-x C-e on a simple form in a .clj file like (+ 7 7) I get an sldb buffer with Unable to resolve symbol: + in this context [Thrown class java.lang.Exception] I'm able to evaluate that form in the slime session directly. I was hoping the form in the clj file would get evaluated in the running slime session. Can someone explain how C-x C-e works in swank-clojure and how I can get the form to be evaluated in the running slime session? Thanks, hhh

  I have 2 classes: Person and Contact. Person class has a property named ContactNumber which returns the Contact type, and this property is marked as a DataMember for serialization. I have marked Contact type as a DataContract. On the client side I am able to get the values, but when I try to insert a value and then do submit, I get the following exception: Failed to deserialize change-set.   I'm using Hibernate validator 4.1 to validate my entity. I have a dashboard that I can access from the action : viewDashboard. • C# Class Instantiation Overflow

  Scenario I have a C# Win Forms App, where the Main Form contains a loop that creates 3000 Instances of another form (Form B). Inside Form B there are a large number of properties and fields and a bunch of methods that do a fair amount of processing. Question Will the creation of 3000 of these classes give me problems? I'm thinking along the lines of memory exceptions? I've had 1 or 2 already, and I've also had an exception that says something along the lines of "Something went bang and this is usually a sign of corrupt memory somewhere else". Setup I'm using a DevExpress Ribbon Form and I haven't implemented Dispose on anything....Do I need to? Help greatly appreciated.

Switching the target class version for my app (1.6 - 1.5) did not help. I use Sun JDK 1.6.0_17, Wicket 1.4.8, Jetty 6.1.24. I tried to debug, but the JRE classes have no debug data. The stacktrace is of no use as it happens when loading the classes into JVM. Any ideas what could be wrong? How can I find which class is causing this? Thanks, Ondra

  I have two interfaces IHeaderRow, and IDetailRow I then have an object that implements both RawRow:IHeaderRow, IDetailRow I then need to cast it to HeaderRow which implements IHeaderRow. But when I try, it ends up being null or giving an exception. I can cast ObjectRawRow to either interface IHeaderRow, or IDetailRow var ObjectIHeaderRow = ObjectRawRow as IHeaderRow; var ObjectIDetailRow = ObjectRawRow as IDetailRow; But I can not cast ObjectRawRow to HeaderRow , or ObjectIHeaderRow to HeaderRow. It throws the error Cannot convert source type 'IA' to target type 'A' I need to cast it into the actual class HeaderRow. Thoughts?

• SqlBulkCopy unusual TimeOut Error

  I have a SqlBulkCopy operation that is taking data from an MS-Access 2007 database (via OleDbConnection) and using SqlBulkCopy to transfer that data to a SQL Server database. This has previously been working and continues to work for one MS-Access database, but not the other. I get the error message: Timeout expired. The timeout period elapsed prior to completion of the operation or the server is not responding. It is hard to believe it is a timeout ast the oledbCommand.CommandTimeout = 0 the sqlBulkCopy.BulkCopyTimeout = 0 and on either side (MS-Access and SQL Server the timeouts have now been set to 0). Are there other issues/exceptions that the above error message could be hiding? Is there a way to determine what the base cause of a sqlBulkCopy.WriteToServer exception is (there doesn't appear to be any inner exceptions etc...)

I call the same BindPort method in client. Then a exception occurs at DataReceived method. I think there must be a problem that I don't close the UDP port properly. I have an anonymous linq query that I bind to a datagrid, when I debug it brings alright the data but it doesn't show in the datagrid, I suspect that the request to RIA services isn't completed before I bound it to the datagrid. I could use the LoadOperation<() Completed event. But it only works with Defined Entities so how can I do that?   I have a POST controller action that returns a partial view. Everything seems really easy. but. I load it using $.ajax(), setting type as html. But when my model validation fails I thought I should just throw an error with model state errors. But my reply always returns 500 Server error. How can I report back model state errors without returning Json with whatever result. I would still like to return partial view that I can directly append to some HTML element. Edit I would also like to avoid returning error partial view. This would look like a success on the client. Having the client parse the result to see whether it's an actual success is prone to errors. Designers may change the partial view output and this alone would break the functionality. So I want to throw an exception, but with the correct error message returned to the ajax client.

• How to handle concurrency control in dynamic data?

  I've been quite impressed with dynamic data and how easy and quick it is to get a simple site up and running. I'm planning on using it for a simple internal HR admin site for registering people's skills/degrees/etc. I've been watching the intro videos at www.asp.net/dynamicdata and one thing they never mention is how to handle concurrency control. It seems that DD does not handle it right out of the box (unless there is some setting I haven't seen) as I manually generated a change conflict exception and the app failed without any user friendly message. Anybody know if DD handles it out of the box? Or do you have to somehow build it into the site?

• ArrayBlockingQueue - How to "interrupt" a thread that is wating on .take() method

  I use an ArrayBlockingQueue in my code. Clients will wait untill an element becomes available: myBlockingQueue.take(); How can I "shutdown" my service in case no elements are present in the queue and the take() ist wating indefenitely for an element to become available? This method throws an InterruptedException. My question is, how can I "evoke" an Interrupted Exception so that take() will quit? (I also tought about notify(), but it seems I doesnt help here..) I know I could insert an special "EOF/QUIT" marker Element but is this really the only solution? UPDATE (regarding the comment, that points to another question with two solutions: one mentioned above using a "Poisoning Pill Object" and the second one is Thread.interrupt(): The myBlockingQueue.take() is used NOT in a Thread (extending Thread) but rather implements Runnable. It seems a Runnable does not provide the .interrupt() method? How could I interrupt the Runnable? Million Thanks Bernhard

  How do you use C level factory methods in Swift? Let's try using a factory such as NewMusicSequence(). OSStatus status var sequence:MusicSequence status=NewMusicSequence(&sequence) This errors out with "error: variable 'sequence' passed by reference before being initialized". Set sequence to nil, and you get EXC_BAD_INSTRUCTION. You can try being explicit like this: var sp:CMutablePointer<MusicSequence>=nil status=NewMusicSequence(sp) But then you get a bad access exception when you set sp to nil.
