  • Custom flash uploader breaks only on Media Temple

    I've built a flash uploader to upload files up to 100MB using a php backend. It works wonderfully on our dev server, on a hostgator vps, and on one of our clients' servers running Debian. It will not work on our Media Temple (dv)3.5 and I don't know why. The upload will start but will choke after a few seconds with this flash error message: ioerror: [IOErrorEvent type="ioError" bubbles=false cancelable=false eventPhase=2 text="Error #2038: File I/O Error. URL: http://..._upload.php"] The problem seems to be specific to the asynchronous nature of the flash uploader because if I try a straight php upload it works fine. The php.ini settings are set to allow such a large upload as well. Also, I've thoroughly googled flash, 2038, I/O error, etc but have yet to find anything that helped. Here's the weird part though: We work in Seattle. It won't work from the office. It won't work from home. But, while on the phone with MT's support, they were able to upload a file through our flash uploader just fine. I'm not sure where his office was located but I think it was Atlanta. So the problem also seems specific to physical location. Has anyone run into this sort of problem before?

What are some possible open source servers that do this that are small enough to be shipped or embedded with a downloadable Mac app? There is a product StreamToMe by Matt Gallagher that does this. I noticed a lot of open source alternatives like ffmpeg, VideoLan, and the like but I not sure which one would be good for the Mac.

  • Problem building PHP extension module

    I'm trying to get GD into my PHP. So I compiled it, made php.ini point to it, restarted apache etc. But no GD. So in apache error log it says PHP Warning: PHP Startup: gd: Unable to initialize module\nModule compiled with module API=20060613\nPHP compiled with module API=20090115\nThese options need to match\n in Unknown on line 0 So a bit of googling says I should not use the phpize I have before configuring and making these. I should use a new one called phpize5. I surely don't have any such thing. Unless its packed up inside something else in my php5.3. distro. Where do you get it. In Ubuntu I could just run sudo apt-get install php-dev, (apparently) and it would just appear by magic. At least that's what the webpage said. Unfortunately I am running MacOSX version Leopard. How can I build this GD module so that it will match the API number in my PHP?

  • Failing to send email on Ubuntu box (Karmic Koala)

    I have a home network with an XP and Ubuntu (9.10) box. I have created a small test php script for checking that I can send emails from my machine. I am using the same php.ini file with the same [mail settings], yet the file works on my XP box, and fails on the Ubuntu box.     I get a blue screen of death in my windows 98 machine every time I boot it. I can't reach to my desktop. The error is like this: A fatal exception 0E occured at 0028:C003CC2F in VxD IOS(01) + 0000156B This was called from 0028:C0082E60 in VxD VKD(01) + 000001D0 I have to then give it a three finger salute to restart the system. There is no other way to shut down the system at this point except pressing the CPU power button. What could be the problem?     I am trying to setup a Postfix server on a Linux box to relay all mail to our Office365 (Exchange, hosted by Microsoft) mail server, but, I keep getting an error regarding the sending address: BB338140DC1: to= relay=pod51010.outlook.com[157.56.234.118]:587, delay=7.6, delays=0.01/0/2.5/5.1, dsn=5.7.1, status=bounced (host pod51010.outlook.com[157.56.234.118] said: 550 5.7.1 Client does not have permissions to send as this sender (in reply to end of DATA command)) Office 365 requires that the sending address in the MAIL FROM and From: header be the same as the address used to authenticate. I have tried everything I can think of in the config to get this working.   • fedora apache/nginx pylons

    I'm trying to wrap my head around Pylons and how it works. So far... it's been confusing... I'm using EC2 with Fedora8. Everything is working so far (i.e. I have Pylons/python et al installed and after creating a test app and running paster serve I can access the default page via my domain name). As the Pylons docs explain and as I understand, the built in paster serve server is not suited for a production environment. What I am not clear on, then, is what to do next... It seems like nginx is a good option, but I am more familiar with Apache (like .0002%). I plan on having virtualhosts (which nginx says can accomodate). However, I am totally unclear on how the big picture is supposed to work. In order to serve an app, does paster serve need to be running? Does then nginx/apache basically just act as a proxy to shuttle connections to the paster server? How do I start it so it doesn't terminate after closing the ssh connection? If running multiple apps, what do I set as the host/port in development.ini to differentiate the apps? Or if this is not the right way, how do I differentiate beween apps? I am more familiar with MySQL, but willing to negotiate PostgreSQL if it's a better fit. Is it? Is virtualenv a prerequisite to running multiple apps on the same machine? Thanks in advance for any tips.

  • MySQL taking a long time to start

    I'm running Windows Server 2008 with MySQL installed and every time I reboot the server the MySQL Service doesn't start right away. A look into the Windows Eventlog shows that the MySQL Service was hung at startup. Looking at the Services.msc console shows the service state at Starting... Eventually, like 10 minutes, the MySQL Service actually finishes the startup process and the database becomes available for my Wordpress server... I looked at the MySQL .err files and didn't find anything that would indicate a delay in the statup process... Can anyone suggest a way to determine what is causing the delay, and more importantly, how to prevent the delay in the MySQL Startup? UPDATE: Here is the .err log contents from the shutdown to the startup complete.   • General Questions on setting up Subversion (w/Netbeans) and web development workflow.

    Hey guys, I am web developer who currently works mostly on his own but, some projects require outside coding help (my brother.) Anyway, after running in to the problem of "working on the same files" and "saving over each others edits" I decided to research ways to avoid this. Through the help of stackoverflow I decided on subversion. My setup is the following: A windows 2008 server with a clean install. My desktop which is on the local network of the server. Then my brothers desktop which is at his house, not on lan. We both prefer to use netbeans for development. My Questions: How do we set this thing up correctly and most optimally. Here is my current setup and work flow. dev site: in the past I just created sub domains with my web host for test sites (company1.bythepixel.com, company2.bythepixel.com), and editted those sites with netbeans set up having remote sources (ftp). how do i set up my netbeans now? should I set it up with remote sources? I guess I may need to set up a web server on my local server. I'm just not sure of the work flow. When i hit save in netbeans.. will it update the repository.. then do i need to update the site from the repository somehow? live site: when going live, i would just copy all the files from the dev site into the live site. from what i gather i should be able to update the site from the dev repository? Currently I am toying with virtualsvn server (http://www.visualsvn.com/server/) on my local server. It looks like it is set up to use the http protocol. Is there advantages to this or should I consider something that does the file//. Do you recommend any other subversion software that would run on my 2008 box? how will my brother connect? should i set up a permanent vpn from his house to mine? suggestions? (not that important) how do I deal with databases, there anyway to do subversion on database? I know I have a lot of questions and I am trying to read / make sense of the free online subversion book, but its all so overwhelming! Wish there was a small subversion for dummies guide :)

    Hi guys! I just setup a mysql cluster on a fairly decent baby (IBM x3650 M3) with 24GB memory, xeon 6core, SAS 6Gbps HDD. Running Debian Lenny 5. 64bits. Ndb version is 7.1.9a. Our database size on MyISAM is around 3.2 GB. Ndb_size estimation is 58GB for ndbengine. A little info about my database is as follows. 150 common tables for global purpose. 130 tables for each clients. So it goes like this, 130 x 115(clients) = 14950 tables. Is it normal or usual to have 14000 tables on one database? The reasons why we did this was, Easy maintenance and per client based customization. Now, the problem is, ndb cluster can only support, 20320 tables. But it can support 5,000,000,000 rows in one table if I'm not wrong. My real head ache is my cluster data node takes less than two minutes to startup with out any data. But as soon as convert my tables into ndb, that too only 2000 tables, data node takes at least 30 to 40 mins to start up. Is it normal? If I convertt all my tables into ndb, will it take even longer? Or let's say if consolidate my 14000 table's data into one, which is 130 tables, will it help? Or is there anything idiotically wrong which I'm doing? I'll attach my config.ini file soon. here's the simple overview of my config Datamemory = 14G Indexmemory = 3GB Maxnooftable = 14000 Maxnoofattributes = 78000 I'm just testing these values with 2000 tables first. Please advise, how to increase the start up speed. Please point out where I'm going wrong. Thanks in advance guys!
