  • Mapping a drop-down menu over an image

    I have a menu bar that is rotated slightly. Here are two buttons as an example: As a result, I can't use regular HTML to handle this. I need to use a <map> to put hyperlinks over the menu parts. (Or am I missing a killer CSS feature I don't know about?) I want to map drop-down menus to these buttons. This looks like a nice way to implement drop-down menus: http://javascript-array.com/scripts/simple_drop_down_menu/ However, this does not work on <map>s, I believe. Or am I wrong? Is there a different approach I can take to constructing drop-down menus for a menu bar that is not aligned horizontally?

  • Fluid Columns with matching height and background image

    I'm working on a new layout for my site that uses a header, footer and two column center region. The two columns consist of the main content area which is fluid height and width and a right sidebar which is fluid height and fixed width. I have done similar layouts before, but this one depends on using two different background images (one for the sidebar and one for the content area). Is there any way to implement this, using proper HTML & CSS, so that the background images of the two columns are always the same height, regardless of which columns content is longer? I've tried using JavaScript to simulate this, but it doesn't work so well if there are images in the content area. I would really prefer not to use this method any way. Any help is greatly appreciated. I have setup a staging environment at http://staging.jamesarmes.net/jimmyssandbox to provide an example. This environment is not my finished product, but I want to get the containers under control before I move any further

  • Using setSourceType with image picker up hides status bar

    I am pretty sure this is a bug but I thought I would check. I used the camera overlay to add a button so that on the iphone a user can switch from the camera view to the photo library. When button is taped the source type switches fine but the status bar is missing from the photo library. Throughout the rest of that session the status bar remains missing from all views evet thougth isStatusBarHidden reports NO.   • SQL Server 2008 - Keyword search using table Join

    Ok, I created a Stored Procedure that, among other things, is searching 5 columns for a particular keyword. To accomplish this, I have the keywords parameter being split out by a function and returned as a table. Then I do a Left Join on that table, using a LIKE constraint. So, I had this working beautifully, and then all of the sudden it stops working. Now it is returning every row, instead of just the rows it needs. The other caveat, is that if the keyword parameter is empty, it should ignore it. Given what's below, is there A) a glaring mistake, or B) a more efficient way to approach this?   • Strategy to structure a search index in a relational database

    I am interested in suggestions for building an efficient and robust structure for indexing products in a new database I am building (i'm using MySql) When a product is entered through the form there are three parts I am interested in indexing for searching purposes. The product title The product description Tags The most important is title, followed by tags, followed by the description. I was thinking of using the following structure CREATE TABLE `searchindex` ( `id` INT NOT NULL , `word` VARCHAR( 255 ) NOT NULL , `weighting` INT NOT NULL , `product_id` INT NOT NULL , PRIMARY KEY ( `id` ) ) Then each time a product is created I would split apart the title, description and tags (removing common words) and award them a weighting. Then it is trivial to select out the words and corresponding products and order them by weighting. Is there a better way to do this? I would be worried that this strategy would slow down over time and as the database filled up.

  • I would like to know how to put a "change image" layer like in facebook on a mouseover event

    Hello: I have a photo gallery I would like that every time a user does mouseover the image, there is a button on the top of this image that appears. The user can click on it. But every time that the user mouse out of the photo it must disappear. It works like the "change photo" in Facebook, with the photo of your profile. The problem I am having is that when I try to get over the button that appears (in my code is a link), it disappear because javascript understands that the mouse is just out of the image, even if this button/link is over the image. The image that I use is positioned absolutely over the image.   • search paths where one native library depends on another

    I'm using JNA and Java but I think this question affects any native-to-nonnative bridge. I have a Java application which relies on lib1.dylib, and lib1.dylib relies on lib2.dylib. I want to put everything inside of my .app file on Mac. I can easily put lib1.dylib inside and set java.classpath (or NativeLibrary.addSearchPath()) to tell the JVM where to find lib1.dylib. The trouble is, I don't know how to communicate that lib1.dylib's dependencies are also in the location I provided. The result is that lib1 is loaded fine, but then lib2 can't be found since it's not in the operating system's library path. Anyone know how I can overcome this problem? I imagine it must come up plenty in big projects with large numbers of shared libraries.

    I'm scanning a text document for certain installed programs on a computer and looking for an easy way to include a greater or less than variable in the string I'm scanning for. Here is a very ugly and cumbersome example of what I'm using currently and while it works as a temporary fix, isn't practical or sustainable. Essentially I need to scan for "Adobe Flash Player (Any number less than 11) Plugin" , "Adobe Flash Player (Any number less than 11) ActiveX" , "Java (number less than 9) Update (any number)". I'm sure whatever solution is offered can likely be adapted to similar programs I'm likely to encounter later. Tried the following: searchFilterCollection.Add(new SearchFilter.IsNotEqualTo(EmailMessageSchema.Subject, string.Empty)); and searchFilterCollection.Add(new SearchFilter.IsNotEqualTo(EmailMessageSchema.Subject, null)); but no luck. What do I need to do to get those messages that have a subject?
