The 10th Award party will be the best :-) I won a DSLR camera at the 2011 JCP party and have taken many awesome photos of my family with it ever since!  Thanks JCP! Remembering the password to get in! It was very fascinating talking to all those JUG Members of last years' (2011) party and hearing about their hopes & expectations.  Especially from members of SouJava and LJC. Hanging out with my friends Best food and one of my colleagues won the raffle prize. My friend Brian won a jacket 3 years ago and my friend Craig won a camera last year. 2010 when I took home 2 awards on behalf of JSRs I'm on. When Patrick & Scott sang 'Light My Fire'!   I index some data include date in solr but when search for specific date, i get some record (not all record) include some record in next day for example: http://localhost:8080/solr/select/?q=pubdate:[2010-03-25T00:00:00Z TO 2010-03-25T23:59:59Z]&start=0&rows=10&indent=on&sort=pubdate desc i have 625000 record in 2010-03-25 but above query result return 325412 that include 14 record from 2010-03-26. Also i try with below query, but not get right result http://localhost:8080/solr/select/?q=pubdate:"2010-03-25T00:00:00Z"&start=0&rows=10&indent=on&sort=pubdate desc How to get right result for specific date ??? • C# Custom Brush - I want two gradients chaining them together.

  I am making a bar chart and I want two separate gradients for each bar. First I want a gradient to go from top to bottom solid red to transparent red. I want to paint over the top of that a gradient that goes from right to left, black to opaque. So - In the bottom left we should have; Bottom left - Alpha 0 Bottom right - Alpha 0 Top left - Alpha 255 Colour Red Top Right - Alpha 255 Colour Black So in effect I want to take a solid colour, add a left to right gradient to black then take the output of that and add a top to bottom gradient to transparency. All this and I want it to be in a single brush, is this even possible? Thanks!

  I joined Sun Microsystems in December of 1996, not quite 17 years ago. Over the course of those years, it has been my great pleasure and honor to work with a many talented folks, on a many incredible projects - first at Sun, and then at Oracle. In those nearly 17 years, we made quite a few platforms and products accessible - including Java, GNOME, Solaris, and Linux. We pioneered many of the accessibility techniques that are now used throughout the industry, including accessibility API techniques which first appeared in the Java and GNOME accessibility APIs; and screen access techniques like the API-based switch access of the GNOME Onscreen Keyboard. Our work was recognized as groundbreaking by many in the industry, both through awards for the innovations we had delivered (such as those we received from the American Foundation for the Blind), and awards of money to develop new innovations (the two European Commission accessibility grants we received). Our knowledge and expertise contributed to the first Section 508 accessibility standard, and provided significantly to the upcoming refresh of that standard, to the European Mandate 376 accessibility standard, and to a number of web accessibility standards. After 17 years of helping Sun and Oracle accomplish great things, it is time to start a new chapter... Today is my last day at Oracle. It is not, however, my last day in the field of accessibility. Next week I will begin working with another group of great people, and I am very much looking forward to the great things I will help contribute to in the future. • ModalPopupExtender doesn't work on IE6 frame layout

  I'm using a "frame" layout similar to the one in this excellent answer: a div #top at the top of the page, a div#left on the left, and a div #main with the main content. The #top and #left divs contain navigation menus. Now I want to use a popup div using the AjaxControlToolkit ModalPopupExtender inside the content (#main) div. This works fine on IE8 (where #top, #left, #main all have position:fixed), but when I run it on IE6, the modal background only covers the #main div - I need it to cover the whole of the page including the #top and #left navigation divs. Looking at the script for ModalPopupExtender, it appears to be searching up the parent hierarchy until it finds a parent with position relative or absolute. And in the IE6 rendering, the #main div has position:absolute because position:fixed is not supported, which I guess explains what is happening. Any suggestions for the best/easiest way to get this working properly on IE6? Ideally without modifying the ModalPopupExtender code, but I'll do this if I have to and it's the best solution.

  I am making a bar chart and I want two separate gradients for each bar. First I want a gradient to go from top to bottom solid red to transparent red. I want to paint over the top of that a gradient that goes from right to left, black to opaque. So - In the bottom left we should have; Bottom left - Alpha 0 Bottom right - Alpha 0 Top left - Alpha 255 Colour Red Top Right - Alpha 255 Colour Black So in effect I want to take a solid colour, add a left to right gradient to black then take the output of that and add a top to bottom gradient to transparency. All this and I want it to be in a single brush, is this even possible?

  I want to position a modal dialog (progress window) at the top right corner of the parent window client area. This code will put it in the corner of the non-client area, but how do I calculate the offset to the client area? this.Owner=owner; this.Left=owner.Left+owner.ActualWidth-Width; this.Top=owner.Top; Edit: I found this 'solution' that works for normal windows: this.Left=owner.Left+owner.ActualWidth-Width-SystemParameters.ResizeFrameVerticalBorderWidth; this.Top=owner.Top+SystemParameters.ResizeFrameHorizontalBorderHeight+SystemParameters.WindowCaptionHeight; This would however fail for windows that have customized borders. EDIT: The code should work regardless of the systems DPI setting (e.g. 120 instead of 96).

• Which index is used in select and why?

  I have the table with zip codes with following columns: id - PRIMARY KEY code - NONCLUSTERED INDEX city When I execute query SELECT TOP 10 * FROM ZIPCodes I get the results sorted by id column. But when I change the query to: SELECT TOP 10 id FROM ZIPCodes I get the results sorted by code column. Again, when I change the query to: SELECT TOP 10 code FROM ZIPCodes I get the results sorted by code column again. And finally when I change to: SELECT TOP 10 id,code FROM ZIPCodes I get the results sorted by id column. My question is in the title of the question. I know which indexes are used in the queries, but my question is, why those indexes are used? I the second query (SELECT TOP 10 id FROM ZIPCodes) wouldn't it be faster if the clusteder index was used? How the query engine chooses which index to use?

Is there any way to make #div2 disappear when #div1's CSS property top = 0 and reappear whenever it is changed? Or is there a better way to implement this?

• datediff rounding

  I have a db table in SQL Server which contains a start date for a project. On a web status page I want to show how many days/weeks/months the project has run, the units depending on the duration. So under 21 days I'd show days, under 7 weeks I'd show weeks, otherwise show completed months. So I get the days, weeks and months values and can then use some code to decide which one to display. Suppose the project starts on 30 Dec 2010 and I'm checking today (27 Feb 2011). select datediff(d,'30 Dec 2010',getdate()) as days, datediff(wk,'30 Dec 2010',getdate()) as weeks , datediff(m,'30 Dec 2010',getdate())as months produces days: 59 weeks: 9 months: 2 But in fact the difference is 8 whole weeks and some rounding takes place. I've tried doing it in ASP as well, getting the start date and then doing the datediff() but it's no better. Is there a better way? thanks

  Is there a way (without binding to the window.resize event) to force a floating DIV to re-center itself when the browser window is resized? • TestDriven.Net 3.0 – All Systems Go

  I’m pleased to announce that TestDriven.Net 3.0 is now available. Finally! I know many of you will already be using the Beta and RC versions, but if you look at the release notes you’ll see there’s been many refinements since then, so I highly recommend you install the RTM version. Here is a quick summary of a few new features: Visual Studio 2010 supports targeting multiple versions of the .NET framework (multi-targeting). This means you can easily upgrade your Visual Studio 2005/2008 solutions without necessarily converting them to use .NET 4.0. TestDriven.Net will execute your tests using the .NET version your test project is targeting (see ‘Properties > Application > Target framework’). There is now first class support for MSTest when using Visual Studio 2008 & 2010. Previous versions of TestDriven.Net had support for a limited number of MSTest attributes. This version supports virtually all MSTest unit testing related attributes, including support for deployment item and data driven test attributes. You should also find this test runner is quick. ;) There is a new ‘Go To Test/Code’ command on the code context menu. You can think of this as Ctrl-Tab for test driven developers; it will quickly flip back and forth between your tests and code under test. I recommend assigning a keyboard shortcut to the ‘TestDriven.NET.GoToTestOrCode’ command. NCover can now be used for code coverage on .NET 4.0. This is only officially supported since NCover 3.2 (your mileage may vary if you’re using the 1.5.8 version). Rather than clutter the ‘Output’ window, ignored or skipped tests will be placed on the ‘Task List’. You can double-click on these items to navigate to the offending test (or assign a keyboard shortcut to ‘View.NextTask’). If you’re using a Team, Premium or Ultimate edition of Visual Studio 2005-2010, a new ‘Test With > Performance’ command will be available. This command will perform instrumented performance profiling on your target code. A particular focus of this version has been to make it more keyboard friendly. The cursor will be positioned on the stack trace of the last failed test, ready for you to hit ‘Enter’ to jump to the fail point or ‘Esc’ to return to your source (assuming your ‘Output’ window is set to auto-hide).  If your ‘Output’ window isn’t set to auto-hide, you’ll need to hit ‘Ctrl + Alt + O’ then ‘Enter’.
