• Blog not even ranking for exact title match, after domain has been dropped twice [on hold]

  Consider a blog, related to blogging and SEO. The domain has been dropped (expired) 2 times before acquisition. The current owner is the 3rd owner of the domain since 5 months. Blog posts are not ranking, even for exact titles. Google+ or other shares will show up instead of the content. Some blog posts are not even indexed. Let us TAKE that it gets around 7 organic visits / day. Dropped domain, less likely used for spam (WayBack machine (2 Reframed drops) 3 captures since 2004, Don't know whether there was Email spam) (But no manual actions in WMT, so no reconsideration request). What could be the reason for this? How can Google be told that ownership is changed and the domain is now spam-free? Would this domain be salvageble, or does this only change after relocating to another domain?

• Redirect from domain to other one

  I deal with the following problem. I am customer of one domain reseller, which has fair prices, fine administration, and I have all my domains registered by it. Recently I've created a new webpage using a free web service (those sites where you can create a simple webpages with some template after few clicks). This new web page has default address in the following form: "pagename.provider.cz", but I want to use my own domain "pagename.cz". And that is the problem, because the provider would assign domain name to my presentation only if I registered mentioned domain by him. That wouldn't be a problem, but he is three times more expensive then my favorite one. So I am thinking about registering domain "pagename.cz" under my favorite registrator and then making 301 PHP redirect from it to "pagename.provider.cz". Shall this affect (negatively) my domain ranking? Are there any catches which I shoud care about?

• Domain mapping issues

  I have two domain names - .com & .co.uk bought with 123-reg and just one student Windows hosting pack associated with the .co.uk domain. The .com domain is the main one which people would be trying to access, so I just mapped the domain to the hosting this morning. The problem is that I would really like it to be functional by tomorrow morning and the usual waiting time is 24-48 hours. Is there point in stopping the process and trying with forward it with CNAME record instead, does it take less time? (I can just go back and do proper domain mapping during the weekend) Also, is there a possible way to check whether the domain mapping has been done correctly before these 24-48 hours? From some computers I get 404 Error on homepage.

Domain A was the one I had purchased when I first set up my website, but I didn't like it all that much and it was getting low ranks, and so I bought domain B and 301'd links from domain A to domain B. Now I would like to know if there is any way I can filter page views on Google Analytics based on the domain used to access the website, so that I can know if it is worth to keep the old domain associated with the account. Is there any easy way I can do this?

  Data Layer I have an Order class as an entity. This Order entity is my model object. Order can be different types, let it be A B C D Also Order class may have common properties like Name, Time of creation, etc. Also based on the order type there are different fields that are not common. View Layer The view contains the following Main Menu ListView The Main Menu contains the drop down menu button which is used to create the order based on the type selected from the drop down. The drop down contains the Order types ( A ,B , C and D). There are different user control based on the order type. Like for example if user chooses to create an order of type A then different view with different inputs field is popped up. Hence, there are four user control for each order type. If user selects A option from the drop down then Order of type A is created and vica versa. Now below is the List View that contains the List of orders so far created by the user. To Edit any particular order user may double click the list view row. Based on the order type clicked by the user in the listview, the view of that order type opens in edit mode. For example if user selects an order type A from the list view then view for order type A open in edit mode. Please suggest me interaction model for view model's in the scenario discussed above. • ASP.NET MVC model binding foreign key relationship

  Is it possible to bind a foreign key relationship on my model to a form input? Say I have a one-to-many relationship between Car and Manufacturer. I want to have a form for updating Car that includes a select input for setting Manufacturer. I was hoping to be able to do this using the built-in model binding, but I'm starting to think I'll have to do it myself. My action method signature looks like this: public JsonResult Save(int id, [Bind(Include="Name, Description, Manufacturer")]Car car) The form posts the values Name, Description and Manufacturer, where Manufacturer is a primary key of type int. Name and Description get set properly, but not Manufacturer, which makes sense since the model binder has no idea what the PK field is. Does that mean I would have to write a custom IModelBinder that it aware of this? I'm not sure how that would work since my data access repositories are loaded through an IoC container on each Controller constructor.

• Cross-domain policy issues after redirect in Flash

  I'm having trouble with a cross-domain policy. I'm using the AS3 Loader to fetch an image; I'm making it load the policy file, like this : var pLoader : Loader = new Loader(); var pContext : LoaderContext = new LoaderContext(); pContext.checkPolicyFile = true; pLoader.load(new URLRequest(sURL), pContext); This works fine as long as the image is directly accessible; however, when the server sends a redirect, the loader follows it but loses the checkPolicyFile flag, resulting in a SecurityException - that is, it doesn't check the cross-domain policy of the redirected URL. I've found a solution here ( http://www.stevensacks.net/2008/12/23/solution-as3-security-error-2122-with-300-redirects ) but looks fragile (that is, looks like it will fail if there's more than one redirect). What would be the correct way of doing this?

• MVC: Model View Controller -- does the View call the Model?

  I've been reading about MVC design for a while now and it seems officially the View calls objects and methods in the Model, builds and outputs a view. I think this is mainly wrong. The Controller should act and retrieve/update objects inside the Model, select an appropriate View and pass the information to it so it may display. Only crude and rudiementary PHP variables/simple if statements should appear inside the View. If the View gets the information it needs to display from the Model, surely there will be a lot of PHP inside the View -- completely violating the point of seperating presentation logic.

  I just started playing with Django today and so far am finding it rather difficult to do simple things. What I'm struggling with right now is filtering a list of status types. The StatusTypes model is: class StatusTypes(models.Model): status = models.CharField(max_length=50) type = models.IntegerField() def __unicode__(self): return self.status class Meta: db_table = u'status_types' In one admin page I need all the results where type = 0 and in another I'll need all the results where type = 1 so I can't just limit it from within the model.   Hi, I have a website A.com and a domain at B.com with a widget inside an iframe getting data from A.com. I want to allow x-domain cookies to be passed from a.com to inside the iframe using ASP.NET My understanding is that - I can do this in IE using P3P Headers - such that the A.com cookie is passed to the iframe and session | cookie data is preserved. The P3P headers have to be sent from the A.com and from the iframe. Is this correct ? In dev, my understanding is if I "accept all cookies" in IE - then P3P headers won't matter anyway and so this should all just work. If I put on Medium Security then P3P is required.

  Hello, I have plain POCOs here and as INotifyPropertyChanged is a Interface for the Views need its implemented in the ViewModel not the Model. Now I want to show validation errors in the View beside every textbox the user typed in data. I do not want to implemented the IDataErrorInfo interface in my Models because lets assume I am not allowed to touch them as they come from another Service/Supplier. I do not want to put my IsCustomerFirstNameLenthValid Method into the Model because I could not have access to it or I just dont want to pollute my Models with interface`s having nothing to do there! How can I validate my naked POCO`s in the ViewModel and forward the results to the View by showing validation errors ?

• Maintaining session across relay domain?

  I'm building a payment page in asp.net, however the page where you order your items is run in HTTP (non-secure) on my domain. When redirecting the user to the payment site, I have to go through a different domain (my payment provider, from whom I borrow the SSL certificate), so my payment url ends up like https://www.paymentprovider.com/somescript.cgi/www.mydomain.com/mypaymentpage.aspx Now the problem is my session is lost, but I store the order in session, so I desperately needs it. Can I somehow send the SessionID in querystring, and restore the session from it - or do I need to stuff the entire order into querystring ? (Not too certain it'll fit though, it's rather long) Any help will be highly appreciated :-)

  community. Briefly. I wrote usual model over QAbstractTableModel and using it in usual way for QTableView. But I think I need to use some columns of this model for the few QListViews in QWizard to fill main table in the right way (for user). For example: use the column2 as the QListView's model on the page1 of the wizard; column3 for page2 for its QListView etc. Please, help me to understand just two things: Am I on the right way?   We are following Domain Driven Design for the implementation of a large website. However by putting the behaviour on the domain objects we are ending up with some very large classes. For example on our WebsiteUser object, we have many many methods - e.g. dealing with passwords, order history, refunds, customer segmentation. All of these methods are directly related to the user. Many of these methods delegate internally to other child object but this still results in some very large classes. I'm keen to avoid exposing lots of child objects e.g. user.getOrderHistory().getLatestOrder(). What other strategies can be used to avoid this problems?

• Can't add domain users to Reporting Services 2008

  I have SSRS 2008 setup on the database server. The server is part of the domain. Reporting Services is running under NetworkService. When I try to add a domain user using the web interface (Site Settings -- Security -- New Role Assignment), the page posts back but the user is not in the list. • ASP.Net Layered app - Share Entity Data Model amongst layers

  How can I share the auto-generated entity data model (generated object classes) amongst all layers of my C# web app whilst only granting query access in the data layer? This uses the typical 3 layer approach: data, business, presentation. My data layer returns an IEnumerable<T> to my business layer, but I cannot return type T to the presentation layer because I do not want the presentation layer to know of the existence of the data layer - which is where the entity framework auto-generated my classes. It was recommended to have a seperate layer with just the data model, but I'm unsure how to seperate the data model from the query functionality the entity framework provides.

• Rails - building an absolute url in a model's virtual attribute without url helper

  I have a model that has paperclip attachments. The model might be used in multiple rails apps I need to return a full (non-relative) url to the attachment as part of a JSON API being consumed elsewhere. I'd like to abstract the paperclip aspect and have a simple virtual attribute like this: def thumbnail_url self.photo.url(:thumb) end This however only gives me the relative path. Since it's in the model I can't use the URL helper methods, right? What would be a good approach to prepending the application root url since I don't have helper support? I would like to avoid hardcoding something or adding code to the controller method that assembles my JSON. Thank you

• How to pass parameters to report model in Reporting Services

  I'm developing report in RS that show top N customers based on some criteria. It also allows to select number of customers and period of time. Is it possible to do it by using report model? Thing that it seems to be difficult is how to pass parameters determined by user. Another thing that in my oppinion is very disappointing is that i cannot use SQL query as dataset query, because it uses odd and elaborate XML. Although report model items seem to map its fields to query or table fields. I m concerning using report models because i need to provide uniform data model (the same tables and fields) for more or less different database schemas. It would be very nice if somebody would explain what can be done with report models and what can not.
