    Does anyone know if it's possible to switch from a hardware based RAID0 to a software one? Have a broken raid controller (vintage, wont find it anywhere) but I know the Array is in good conditions. Has anyone tried this, and/or know if its possible? Thank you for your time.

  • HP Pavilion DV6 doesn't recognize wireless networks

    Okay so about a few weeks after I got my laptop the wifi would connect and disconnect, off and on. And every time I troubleshoot it, a message comes up saying there's a network cable not properly plugged in or broken... It's been doing this for about a year and I usually just tap the bottom of the laptop or something and the wifi connects again but now it refuses to turn back on, how do I fix this?

    I have broken my boot sequence on my XP/Vista/Ubuntu box. I wish to restore the system back to the way that Ubuntu 9.04 (last installed OS) had it setup. I want to do only the mbr and /boot on the ubuntu partition and leave the rest of the system alone. How can I do this using the ubuntu 9.04 live CD?

  • Macbook Pro keeps ejecting anything I put into the internal optical drive

    My hard disk crashed and I need to reinstall Mac OS X. I restart, insert the installation DVD, press c on the keyboard and the dvd ejects. I've tried different DVDs, even CDs. It's a Macbook Pro from march 2008. Is it broken? Or can it be something more severe like the firewire controller on the motherboard (since I noticed this after my hard drive started to act strangely)? I've ran Apple Hardware Test successfully.

  • How decode xfs lost+found directory

    I have managed to trash my homebrew Nas box (an old hp d530 + 2x 750gb sata soft raid1 + 17gb boot disk with ubuntu server 8.10) I have searched the web and tried to repair the file system but to no avail :( I was thinking that the dirs/files located under the root of the lost+found directory are 64 bit numbers. Is there any way that I could decant the number into binary form, from there reconstruct the directory/file structure. More to the point can anyone point to the information on how xfs inodes are broken down(does that make sense)?

    I have trouble connecting via SSH to a server whenever I am in the office. I get as far as being prompted for my password and then after that there's a long wait which always ends in a Write failed: Broken pipe This is only for connecting via SSH. I use svn to commit files to a repository hosted on the same server and there are no hitches. Furthermore, this only happens in our office. When I go the university or whenever I am at home or at the coffee shop I am able to connect seamlessly. There are no firewalls in our office. It's just a basic wireless router connected to a modem setup. It's the same setup I have at home and I guess the same setup in the coffee shop. What are the causes for a broken pipe and why does this phenomenon only happen when I try connect via SSH and not when I work with svn on the same server?
