  • Remap Copy and Paste shortcuts on a Mac

    I use Windows at work and a Mac at home. One of the biggest issues is the difference between the copy paste shortcuts on Windows vs the Mac i.e. Ctrl + C & Ctrl + V on Windows and on the Mac its Command + C and Command + V. Invariably its hard because of learnt motor skills where my hand always shapes itself to the Windows Ctrl + C configuration(I have been using Windows longer) I would like to remap the Copy and Paste to the Fn + C and Fn + V on the Mac. Why? Because the Fn key is actually the key that corresponds to where the Ctrl key is on Windows keyboards and since its the last edge key its easy to find. I have tried Double Command but it doesn't seem to have an option of turning Fn to the Command key.

    I need some help with priviligies in centos I have a file in home/admin/public_html/generate.php that I want to do some file copy with using php copy function When I set the file to chown admin:admin generate.php I can access the file but I cannot execute the php copy command because I don't have the proper rights. When I set the file to root:root generate.php I cant access the file beacuse its under admin user folder home/admin/public_html/generate.php how do I solve please, thankful for any help. Bottom line is that I want my generate.php which is owned by admin:admin to be able to copy files from sources outside its home dir and to other home dirs I am using CENTOS

    Hi, I am looking for a fancy way the print individual work items in TFS. OK ... maybe not the work item directly but I need to produce printable forms based on data on a work item. And by fancy I mean: header, footer, formatting, tables maybe ... stuff like that. No, I am not trying to print a list of work items, read carefully, I need an output based on a single work item. For those who are wondering "Why on earth do you need that?" I should say: We are keeping everything on TFS around here. (For now only software development stuff, but I am thinking bigger...)     I have a nib (winA.xib) that contains a window. My app delegate contains an NSWindowController subclass called WinAController. WinAController has a property (NSMenu *mainMenu) that I want to point to the MainMenu. I have set it after I instantiate WinAController with this code: WinAController = [[WinAController alloc] initWithWindowNibName:@"WinA"]; WinAController.mainMenu = [NSApp mainMenu]; I have a menu item underneath the "Window" top-level menu item on MainMenu that invokes the [WinAController showWindow] method and displays WinA. I want to toggle the on/off state of this menu item depending on whether WinA is visible or not. WinAController also has another property (NSMenuItem *myMenuItem). How can I get a reference to a sub menu of the "Window" top-level menu item. The title of sub menu item I want to get is "Command". I have tried this: if (mainMenu != nil) { myMenuItem = [mainMenu itemAtIndex:[mainMenu indexOfItemWithTitle:@"Command"]]; } But it doesn't seem to work. Where am I going wrong? Thanks,

    In code-behind I can do this to select something: // Select item in first DropDownList myCascadingDropDown_1.SelectedValue = itemValue_1+":::"+itemText_1; // Select item in second DropDownList myCascadingDropDown_2.SelectedValue = itemValue_2+":::"+itemText_2; How can I do this in JavaScript? (I'm aware, that I could search the list and set the selectedIndex property for each dropdown, but I have many items and i'm very lazy.) EDIT: npups answer works: I can select my desired item in the first dropdownlist. The problem is however, that new values based on that selected item (it is a CascadingDropDown, remember?) don't show in the second dropdown so I can't select anything there. I would need to somehow invoke the update method of the second dropdown manually: any suggestions?

  • Is there a way to create a copy-on-write copy of a directory?

    I'm thinking of a situation where I would have something that creates a copy of a directory, tweaks a few files, and then does some processing on the result. This wold be done fairly often, maybe a few dozen times a day. (The exact use case is testing patch submissions; dupe the code, patch it, build/test/report/etc.) What I'm looking for could be done by creating a new directory structure and populating it with hard links from the origonal. However this only works if all the tools you use delete and recreate files rather than edit them in place. Is there a way to have the file system do copy-on-write for a file? Note: I'm aware that many FSs use COW at a block level (all updates are done via writes to new blocks) but this is not what I want.

    I got a web site design in PSD file from a web-designer. All element s there snap to guides, which is handy when I make a selection to copy an element of design to a PNG file: guides make my selection precise. One button there has two states: normal and hover. Both states contains of several layers. So I am trying to copy both states as PNG files in order to make a nice button in html. The problem is that both states have shadow effects, which go beyond the layers' edges, i.e. when I try to select a button my selection (snapped to guides) does not include an outer part of the shadow. How do I make a precise selection of the button state in such situation?

    I want a copy of SQL Server transaction log file for "raw" analysis. What is the safest way to get a copy of that file without shutting down the database and disturbing the existing log/backups/backup schedules and just about everything. FYI, Its a SQL Server 2000 database server and I can see the log file (its about 4GB in size) and I cannot copy it as is; I get the "access denied" error when copying from explorer or command line.

  • ListView Item Detail Screen: New or Same Activity?

    I have a listview where each item correlates to an instance of an item in an array. When the user selects an item, it will bring up a 'Details' page that reads and displays other data members of the list item. Would this be better implemented with the Details page as its own activity, or a new view within the same activity? Pros and cons of each? A new activity makes my job a little easier in terms of handling the 'back' button, but then I have the challenge of how do I pass the rest of the data structure to the new activity since I can't bundle it up (unless I serialize it).

  • Database copy between servers - user logins corrupted

    When I copy a database from one server to another via backup and restore, I find I have to recreate the users in the database. I can't login as them right after the copy - I get cannot open default database, when the database that was just copied is the default database. Why is this? The logins exist on the target copy server.
