  • Resize image to 100% height of a div and keep aspect ratio

    - by belovah
Here is a quick sketch. I would like to achieve that images in the gallery div will be 100% of the height of the gallery div and keep the aspect ratio AND that images would resize as you would change the size of browser. Is this possible? Any help would be much appreciated. Here is what I made so far: www.nulaena.si/photob/.

  • A jQuery Plug-in to monitor Html Element CSS Changes

    - by Rick Strahl
Here's a scenario I've run into on a few occasions: I need to be able to monitor certain CSS properties on an HTML element and know when that CSS element changes. The need for this arose out of wanting to build generic components that could 'attach' themselves to other objects and monitor changes on the ‘parent’ object so the dependent object can adjust itself accordingly. What I wanted to create is a jQuery plug-in that allows me to specify a list of CSS properties to monitor and have a function fire in response to any change to any of those CSS properties. The result are the .watch() and .unwatch() jQuery plug-ins. Here’s a simple example page of this plug-in that demonstrates tracking changes to an element being moved with draggable and closable behavior: http://www.west-wind.com/WestWindWebToolkit/samples/Ajax/jQueryPluginSamples/WatcherPlugin.htm Try it with different browsers – IE and FireFox use the DOM event handlers and Chrome, Safari and Opera use setInterval handlers to manage this behavior. It should work in all of them but all but IE and FireFox will show a bit of lag between the changes in the main element and the shadow. The relevant HTML for this example is this fragment of a main <div> (#notebox) and an element that is to mimic a shadow (#shadow). <div class="containercontent"> <div id="notebox" style="width: 200px; height: 150px;position: absolute; z-index: 20; padding: 20px; background-color: lightsteelblue;"> Go ahead drag me around and close me! </div> <div id="shadow" style="background-color: Gray; z-index: 19;position:absolute;display: none;"> </div> </div> The watcher plug in is then applied to the main <div> and shadow in sync with the following plug-in code: <script type="text/javascript"> $(document).ready(function () { var counter = 0; $("#notebox").watch("top, left, height, width, display, opacity", function (data, i) { var el = $(this); var sh = $("#shadow"); var propChanged = data.props[i]; var valChanged = data.vals[i]; counter++; showStatus("Prop: " + propChanged + " value: " + valChanged + " " + counter); var pos = el.position(); var w = el.outerWidth(); var h = el.outerHeight(); sh.css({ width: w, height: h, left: pos.left + 5, top: pos.top + 5, display: el.css("display"), opacity: el.css("opacity") }); }) .draggable() .closable() .css("left", 10); }); </script> When you run this page as you drag the #notebox element the #shadow element will maintain and stay pinned underneath the #notebox element effectively keeping the shadow attached to the main element. Likewise, if you hide or fadeOut() the #notebox element the shadow will also go away – show the #notebox element and the shadow also re-appears because we are assigning the display property from the parent on the shadow. Note we’re attaching the .watch() plug-in to the #notebox element and have it fire whenever top, left, height, width, opacity or display CSS properties are changed. The passed data element contains a props[] and vals[] array that holds the properties monitored and their current values. An index passed as the second parm tells you which property has changed and what its current value is (propChanged/valChanged in the code above). The rest of the watcher handler code then deals with figuring out the main element’s position and recalculating and setting the shadow’s position using the jQuery .css() function. Note that this is just an example to demonstrate the watch() behavior here – this is not the best way to create a shadow. If you’re interested in a more efficient and cleaner way to handle shadows with a plug-in check out the .shadow() plug-in in ww.jquery.js (code search for fn.shadow) which uses native CSS features when available but falls back to a tracked shadow element on browsers that don’t support it, which is how this watch() plug-in came about in the first place :-) How does it work? The plug-in works by letting the user specify a list of properties to monitor as a comma delimited string and a handler function: el.watch("top, left, height, width, display, opacity", function (data, i) {}, 100, id) You can also specify an interval (if no DOM event monitoring isn’t available in the browser) and an ID that identifies the event handler uniquely. The watch plug-in works by hooking up to DOMAttrModified in FireFox, to onPropertyChanged in Internet Explorer, or by using a timer with setInterval to handle the detection of changes for other browsers. Unfortunately WebKit doesn’t support DOMAttrModified consistently at the moment so Safari and Chrome currently have to use the slower setInterval mechanism. In response to a changed property (or a setInterval timer hit) a JavaScript handler is fired which then runs through all the properties monitored and determines if and which one has changed. The DOM events fire on all property/style changes so the intermediate plug-in handler filters only those hits we’re interested in. If one of our monitored properties has changed the specified event handler function is called along with a data object and an index that identifies the property that’s changed in the data.props/data.vals arrays. The jQuery plugin to implement this functionality looks like this: (function($){ $.fn.watch = function (props, func, interval, id) { /// <summary> /// Allows you to monitor changes in a specific /// CSS property of an element by polling the value. /// when the value changes a function is called. /// The function called is called in the context /// of the selected element (ie. this) /// </summary> /// <param name="prop" type="String">CSS Properties to watch sep. by commas</param> /// <param name="func" type="Function"> /// Function called when the value has changed. /// </param> /// <param name="interval" type="Number"> /// Optional interval for browsers that don't support DOMAttrModified or propertychange events. /// Determines the interval used for setInterval calls. /// </param> /// <param name="id" type="String">A unique ID that identifies this watch instance on this element</param> /// <returns type="jQuery" /> if (!interval) interval = 100; if (!id) id = "_watcher"; return this.each(function () { var _t = this; var el$ = $(this); var fnc = function () { __watcher.call(_t, id) }; var data = { id: id, props: props.split(","), vals: [props.split(",").length], func: func, fnc: fnc, origProps: props, interval: interval, intervalId: null }; // store initial props and values $.each(data.props, function (i) { data.vals[i] = el$.css(data.props[i]); }); el$.data(id, data); hookChange(el$, id, data); }); function hookChange(el$, id, data) { el$.each(function () { var el = $(this); if (typeof (el.get(0).onpropertychange) == "object") el.bind("propertychange." + id, data.fnc); else if ($.browser.mozilla) el.bind("DOMAttrModified." + id, data.fnc); else data.intervalId = setInterval(data.fnc, interval); }); } function __watcher(id) { var el$ = $(this); var w = el$.data(id); if (!w) return; var _t = this; if (!w.func) return; // must unbind or else unwanted recursion may occur el$.unwatch(id); var changed = false; var i = 0; for (i; i < w.props.length; i++) { var newVal = el$.css(w.props[i]); if (w.vals[i] != newVal) { w.vals[i] = newVal; changed = true; break; } } if (changed) w.func.call(_t, w, i); // rebind event hookChange(el$, id, w); } } $.fn.unwatch = function (id) { this.each(function () { var el = $(this); var data = el.data(id); try { if (typeof (this.onpropertychange) == "object") el.unbind("propertychange." + id, data.fnc); else if ($.browser.mozilla) el.unbind("DOMAttrModified." + id, data.fnc); else clearInterval(data.intervalId); } // ignore if element was already unbound catch (e) { } }); return this; } })(jQuery); Note that there’s a corresponding .unwatch() plug-in that can be used to stop monitoring properties. The ID parameter is optional both on watch() and unwatch() – a standard name is used if you don’t specify one, but it’s a good idea to use unique names for each element watched to avoid overlap in event ids especially if you’re monitoring many elements. The syntax is: $.fn.watch = function(props, func, interval, id) props A comma delimited list of CSS style properties that are to be watched for changes. If any of the specified properties changes the function specified in the second parameter is fired. func The function fired in response to a changed styles. Receives this as the element changed and an object parameter that represents the watched properties and their respective values. The first parameter is passed in this structure: { id: watcherId, props: [], vals: [], func: thisFunc, fnc: internalHandler, origProps: strPropertyListOnWatcher }; A second parameter is the index of the changed property so data.props[i] or data.vals[i] gets the property and changed value. interval The interval for setInterval() for those browsers that don't support property watching in the DOM. In milliseconds. id An optional id that identifies this watcher. Required only if multiple watchers might be hooked up to the same element. The default is _watcher if not specified. It’s been a Journey I started building this plug-in about two years ago and had to make many modifications to it in response to changes in jQuery and also in browser behaviors. I think the latest round of changes made should make this plug-in fairly future proof going forward (although I hope there will be better cross-browser change event notifications in the future). One of the big problems I ran into had to do with recursive change notifications – it looks like starting with jQuery 1.44 and later, jQuery internally modifies element properties on some calls to some .css()  property retrievals and things like outerHeight/Width(). In IE this would cause nasty lock up issues at times. In response to this I changed the code to unbind the events when the handler function is called and then rebind when it exits. This also makes user code less prone to stack overflow recursion as you can actually change properties on the base element. It also means though that if you change one of the monitors properties in the handler the watch() handler won’t fire in response – you need to resort to a setTimeout() call instead to force the code to run outside of the handler: $("#notebox") el.watch("top, left, height, width, display, opacity", function (data, i) { var el = $(this); … // this makes el changes work setTimeout(function () { el.css("top", 10) },10); }) Since I’ve built this component I’ve had a lot of good uses for it. The .shadow() fallback functionality is one of them. Resources The watch() plug-in is part of ww.jquery.js and the West Wind West Wind Web Toolkit. You’re free to use this code here or the code from the toolkit. • Using multiple column layout with HTML 5 and CSS 3

    - by nikolaosk
This is going to be the fourth post in a series of posts regarding HTML 5. You can find the other posts here , here and here. In this post I will provide a hands-on example with HTML 5 and CSS 3 on how to create a page with multiple columns and proper layout.I will show you how to use CSS 3 to create columns much easier than relying on DIV elements and the float CSS rule.I will also show you how to use browser-specific prefix rules (-ms for Internet Explorer and -moz for Firefox ) for browsers that do not fully support CSS 3.In order to be absolutely clear this is not (and could not be) a detailed tutorial on HTML 5. There are other great resources for that.Navigate to the excellent interactive tutorials of W3School.Another excellent resource is HTML 5 Doctor. Two very nice sites that show you what features and specifications are implemented by various browsers and their versions are http://caniuse.com/ and http://html5test.com/. At this times Chrome seems to support most of HTML 5 specifications.Another excellent way to find out if the browser supports HTML 5 and CSS 3 features is to use the Javascript lightweight library Modernizr. In this hands-on example I will be using Expression Web 4.0.This application is not a free application. You can use any HTML editor you like. You can use Visual Studio 2012 Express edition. You can download it here.I will create a simple page with information about HTML 5, CSS 3 and JQuery. This is the full HTML 5 code. <!DOCTYPE html><html lang="en">  <head>    <title>HTML 5, CSS3 and JQuery</title>    <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;charset=utf-8" >    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="style.css">       </head>  <body>    <div id="header">      <h1>Learn cutting edge technologies</h1>      <p>HTML 5, JQuery, CSS3</p>    </div>    <div id="main">      <div id="mainnews">        <div>          <h2>HTML 5</h2>        </div>        <div>          <p>            HTML5 is the latest version of HTML and XHTML. • Many DIVs inside parent DIV, CSS height issue

    - by Benjamin
    Hi everyone, I am putting together a dynamic photo gallery and getting stuck trying to place thumbnails. Basically I am trying to place each thumbnail and caption in its own DIV, floated to the left. The thumbnails are working just as I want them to but for some reason the parent DIV refuses to cover the height of the thumbnail area. Here is the CSS I am using.. #galleryBox { width: 650px; background: #fff; margin: auto; padding: 5px; text-align: center; } .item { display: block; margin: 10px; padding: 10px; float: left; background: #353535; min-width: 120px; } .label { display: block; color: #fff; } I have tried height: auto and that hasn't done anything. Here is what I am trying to style: <div id="galleryBox" class="ui-corner-all"> <div class="item ui-corner-all"> <img src="http://tapp-essexvfd.org/images/ajax-loader.gif" alt="test"/><br/> <p><span class="label">Testing</span></p> </div> <div class="item ui-corner-all"> <img src="http://tapp-essexvfd.org/images/ajax-loader.gif" alt="test"/><br/> <p><span class="label">Testing</span></p> </div> <div class="item ui-corner-all"> <img src="http://tapp-essexvfd.org/images/ajax-loader.gif" alt="test"/><br/> <p><span class="label">Testing</span></p> </div> <div class="item ui-corner-all"> <img src="http://tapp-essexvfd.org/images/ajax-loader.gif" alt="test"/><br/> <p><span class="label">Testing</span></p> </div> <div class="item ui-corner-all"> <img src="http://tapp-essexvfd.org/images/ajax-loader.gif" alt="test"/><br/> <p><span class="label">Testing</span></p> </div> <div class="item ui-corner-all"> <img src="http://tapp-essexvfd.org/images/ajax-loader.gif" alt="test"/><br/> <p><span class="label">Testing</span></p> </div> <div class="item ui-corner-all"> <img src="http://tapp-essexvfd.org/images/ajax-loader.gif" alt="test"/><br/> <p><span class="label">Testing</span></p> </div> </div> Thanks!

  • CSS file not served by IIS 7.5 after multiple clear cache refreshes in a row in browser

    - by KenB
We are experiencing an interesting issue with IIS 7.5 static caching and a css file. When we use IE to hit the page in question everything works fine - 200 OK on css file. When we refresh the page it works fine - 304 Not Modified on css file. When I refresh again with control key it reloads fine - 200 OK on css file. Now if I do a control key + refresh multiple times in a row really fast the css fails to load and in the developer tools network it says "Loading..." for the css file and it hangs never coming back. Any ideas?

  • Problems with sticky footer - CSS - main content wont go 100% height (float)

    - by Jamie
I'm trying to implement hxxp://www.cssstickyfooter.com however I am having a few problems! See screenshot: hxxp://img22.imageshack.us/img22/2654/71161106.jpg The div "Content" contains both left and right columns. On smaller resolutions this is working as expected however once the user starts to increase there resolution the content doesn't expand as I intend it to. If you notice the blue box. That should stretch to the footer at the bottom of the page. If you notice that the blue divider line (right_container3-4) stops also at the same point. CODE HTML: hxxp://tinyurl.com/m39x52 CSS: hxxp://tinyurl.com/lb62ej I would apriciate any help at all! I've been racking my brains for ages on this one, its just a small site so I suppose it's not too much of an issue. But it's nice to know all the same! Thankyou P.S. Sorry about the URL formatting

  • 100% height on nested table cell in IE

    - by James Cooper
I want a nested table to expand to the height of the enclosing cell. This works as expected in Firefox/Chrome/Safari, but not in IE7 or IE8. Please see the example here: http://www.bitmechanic.com/heightDemo.html The DOCTYPE is relevant. While the demo above validates as HTML 4.01 Strict, it does not render properly in IE7. If I remove the DOCTYPE entirely, or set it to HTML 3.2, it renders properly in IE. Any suggestions on how to get this to render in 4.01 (strict or loose)? The actual web site is a bit more complicated -- changing the DOCTYPE will cause all sorts of other problems. We're struggling to understand the (presumed) IE bug here and how to work around it. thanks -- James

  • Fit <TD> height to page

    - by ssg
Consider a table with three rows with heights 10, *, 10. I'd like the middle cell to be high enough to fit to the page vertically. Unfortunately "height:100%" doesn't work at table, tr, or td level, possibly due to standards. Even if it happens to work, I don't want 100%, I want 100% of clientHeight-20px :) I can always write script to calculate remaining clientHeight but I wonder if it can be achieved in HTML/CSS standards. NOTE: I'm using table just for layout, if there are other ways to lay them down in a better way I'm ok with those approaches too.

  • If I prefer semantic naming then shouldn't i use any CSS Framework and grid approach?

    - by metal-gear-solid
If I prefer semantic naming then shouldn't i use any CSS Framework and grid approach? Which approach is better Grid or Freehand? Is any CSS Frameworks really can save time and make semantic code even for Experienced CSS developer? Many CSS Frameworksd are popular in SIMPLE PSD 2 XHTML CSS and in wordpress/drupal/joomla theme development. Can we make CSS XHTML development as faster as with CSS frameworks but without using CSS Grid Frameworks? What makes development with CSS frameworks faster which we can't do without frameworks?

  • Css div with header and footer and dynamic content height

    - by Argiropoulos Stavros
I want to construct a div that has a header with background like that some content with a background of one pixel repeated at y(or not?) and a footer with background like that resulting in something like that with some text in the div content I want to have the same result with 5 lines or 50 lines of text. In my mind there is an html snippet like <div id="header"></div> <div id="content">Text goes here</div> <div id="footer"></div> but i can't think of the css or jquery code or anything that goes with that. I hope i demonstrated the problem clearly Cheers

  • Auto height and the float issue.

    - by William Hand
I have had this issue before and can't remember if and how I fixed it. I have to create a scenario where I have 2 DIV's floated left and right inside a parent DIV. The 2 floating DIV's have height:auto, but the parent ignores them (perfectly logical) and the background of the parent DIV can't be seen. I know what the issue is, but are there any suggestions of how to solve it? Or any alternatives, I am willing to try a new approach. Thanks in advance for any help.

  • Hot to fix nautilus desktop on linux mint

    - by user59530
so I'm using Linux Mint 13 with Cinnamon and suddenly there are no icons on the desktop and the right click doesn't work, it's like the desktop doesn't start up at all, but the Cinnamon interface and everything else are working just fine. This happens only when I open the session with Cinnamon, if I start the session on the classic Gnome or MATE the desktop works. I tried to re-install Cinnamon but nothing changed. Then, I noticed that there are some little problems in Nautilus (sometimes menus aren't the color they're supposed to be), so I'm convinced that Nautilus might be the problem, but I don't know how to fix this, I've tried a few thing but I'm starting to fear that I'm only making it worse. Also, when I open the terminal and type in nautilus here's what's shows up, any help? (nautilus:2906): Gtk-WARNING **: Theme parsing error: gtk-widgets.css:85:17: Not using units is deprecated. • How bad is it to use display: none in CSS?

    - by Andy
I've heard many times that it's bad to use display: none for SEO reasons, as it could be an attempt to push in irrelevant popular keywords. A few questions: Is that still received wisdom? Does it make a difference if you're only hiding a single word, or perhaps a single character? If you should avoid any use of it, what are the preferred techniques for hiding (in situations where you need it to become visible again on certain conditions)? Some references I've found so far: Matt Cutts from 2005 in a comment If you're straight-out using CSS to hide text, don't be surprised if that is called spam. I'm not saying that mouseovers or DHTML text or have-a-logo-but-also-have-text is spam; I answered that last one at a conference when I said "imagine how it would look to a visitor, a competitor, or someone checking out a spam report. If you show your company's name and it's Expo Markers instead of an Expo Markers logo, you should be fine. If the text you decide to show is 'Expo Markers cheap online discount buy online Expo Markers sale ...' then I would be more cautious, because that can look bad." And in another comment on the same article We can flag text that appears to be hidden using CSS at Google. To date we have not algorithmically removed sites for doing that. We try hard to avoid throwing babies out with bathwater. (My emphasis) Eric Enge said in 2008 The legitimate use of this technique is so prevalent that I would rarely expect search engines to penalize a site for using the display: none attribute. It’s just very difficult to implement an algorithm that could truly ferret out whether the particular use of display: none is meant to deceive the search engines or not. Thanks in advance, Andy

  • How can I find unused/unapplied CSS rules in a stylesheet?

    - by liori
Hello, I've got a huge CSS file and an HTML file. I'd like to find out which rules are not used while displaying a HTML file. Are there tools for this? The CSS file has evolved over few years and from what I know no one has ever removed anything from it--people just wrote new overriding rules again and again. EDIT: It was suggested to use Dust-Me Selectors or Chrome's Web Page Performance tool. But they both work on level of selectors, and not individual rules. I've got lots of cases where a rule inside a selector is always overridden--and this is what I mostly want to get rid of. For example: body { color: white; padding: 10em; } h1 { color: black; } p { color: black; } ... ul { color: black; } All the text in my HTML is inside some wrapper element, so it is never white. body's padding always works, so of course the whole body selector cannot be removed. And I'd like to get rid of such useless rules too. EDIT: And another case of useless rule: when it duplicates existing one without changing anything: a { margin-left: 5px; color: blue; } a:hover { margin-left: 5px; color: red; } I'd happily get rid of the second margin-left... again it seems to me that those tools does not find such things. Thank you,

  • Is there any CSS selector to reach an element outside of the current container?

    - by acidrums4
(And excuse me for my bad english, for starters...) Sorry if this is a noob question, but I really don't know if the following is possible. I'm doing a html5 portfolio. I'm following a tuto from codrops to visually filter works with only css3 (http://tympanus.net/codrops/2012/01/09/filter-functionality-with-css3/). There, user can select which category want to see with some <input type="radio">'s. But those selectors are under the same container (a <section>) and give visibility for the elements via CSS using a general sibling combinator (~). So in that example, the CSS code goes like this: .ff-container input.ff-selector-type-all:checked ~ label.ff-label-type-all, .ff-container input.ff-selector-type-1:checked ~ label.ff-label-type-1, .ff-container input.ff-selector-type-2:checked ~ label.ff-label-type-2, .ff-container input.ff-selector-type-3:checked ~ label.ff-label-type-3{ background: linear-gradient(top, #646d93 0%,#7c87ad 100%); color: #424d71; text-shadow: 0px 1px 1px rgba(255,255,255,0.3); box-shadow: 0px 0px 0px 1px #40496e, 0 1px 2px rgba(0,0,0,0.1) inset; } The thing is I want to put those <input type="radio">'s on the <head> section of my portfolio, but obviously the ~ selector won't work there. So my question is that is there any selector, hack or something that can do that? Something like .ff-container input.ff-selector-type-all:checked $ header > label.ff-label-type-all { awesomeness:100%; } I really don't want to use Javascript/Jquery for that... Thank you so much in advance!

  • Does height and width not apply to span?

    - by Kyle Sevenoaks
Total noob question, but here. CSS .product__specfield_8_arrow { /*background-image:url(../../upload/orng_bg_arrow.png); background-repeat:no-repeat;*/ background-color:#fc0; width:50px !important; height:33px !important; border: 1px solid #dddddd; border-left:none; border-radius:5px; -moz-border-radius:5px; -webkit-border-radius:5px; border-bottom-left-radius:0px; border-top-left-radius:0px; -moz-border-radius-bottomleft:0px; -moz-border-radius-topleft:0px; -webkit-border-bottom-left-radius:0px; -webkit-border-top-left-radius:0px; margin:0; padding:2px; cursor:pointer; }??? HTML <span class="product__specfield_8_arrow">&nbsp;</span>? Fiddle Basically I'm trying to emulate a button, make a span (or something) look like a button next to an input field that actually doesn't need to be one because of an auto fill generator that generates errors onEnter. Thought this'd be a quick fix for now but obviously not. Thanks.

  • drupal themes: .info file: how do I add more than 1 css file / js file to my theme?

    - by egarcia
I'm creating a new Drupal theme. Until now, I only needed to include a single css file and a single js file. So my theme.info file had something like this: stylesheets[all][] = css/style.css scripts[] = js/script.js Now I must include jquery and jquery-ui in order to use a calendar date. These come with 2 new javascript files, and 1 additonal css file that I must add to the site. The calendar input form is going to be used in all pages (on a side block) so it is ok for me to load the extra css/javascript on all pages. I think the easiest thing would be to reference them on the .info file itself. At first I tried to just put them there with separate spaces: stylesheets[all][] = css/style.css css/ui-lightness/jquery-ui-1.8.1.custom.css scripts[] = js/jquery-1.4.2.min.js js/jquery-ui-1.8.1.custom.min.js js/reservations.js I emptied drupal's cache and... none of them loaded. I then tried separating each file with a comma, and flushing the cache again. Same result. I've browsed some drupal pages, but could not find how to add several javascript/css files on one theme (they always seem to add just 1 of each). So, how do I include several css/javascript files on the .info file?

  • Div at bottom of window and adaptable height div

    - by Rob
Is there a way to get a div to always be at the bottom of the window, and another div to change its height to fill any space that it leaves, and that div will scroll if its content is too long. (I never want the window to scroll). This is best illustrated by a picture: The green div will always put itself at the bottom of the window, and the orange div will fill the gap. When the window is smaller, like in the right hand image, the orange div will be smaller and will scroll. The green div can be toggled. Sometimes the green div will have display: none, and then the orange div will stretch to the bottom. When the green div has display: block again, it will look like the picture again. It has to work in IE6. So far I can get the green div to go to the bottom by: position: absolute; bottom: 0; But I don't know how to get the orange div to do what I want.

  • adv. styling list with css

    - by Ayrton
    Hi I need to style a regular html list like the following picture: as you see each each list item has a padding on the sides and a top&bottom border. When hovered the border has a width of 100% of the <ul> item. Now the problem actually is: when you give each <li> element a top & bottom border I have a border of 2 px between each element (bottom border from the first element and the top border from the second element), I don't want that however I do not know any solution for this. my html: <div id="tab_top" class="tab"> <div class="bottom"> <div class="cont"> <ul> <li><a href="#">Here’s a Sample Post <span class="ct">32</span></a></li> <li><a href="#">Here’s a Sample Post <span class="ct">32</span></a></li> <li><a href="#">Here’s a Sample Post <span class="ct">32</span></a></li> <li><a href="#">Here’s a Sample Post <span class="ct">32</span></a></li> <li><a href="#">Here’s a Sample Post <span class="ct">32</span></a></li> <li><a href="#">Here’s a Sample Post <span class="ct">32</span></a></li> <li><a href="#">Here’s a Sample Post <span class="ct">32</span></a></li> </ul> </div> </div> </div> my css: #tabs .tab div.cont ul li a{line-height:30px; height:30px; color:#3ca097; display:block; padding-left:11px; padding-right:13px; width:259px;} #tabs .tab div.cont ul li a span.ct{float:right;background:url(images/count_comments.gif) no-repeat left top; height:13px; padding-left:16px; margin-top:10px; line-height:12px;} #tabs .tab div.cont ul li a:hover{color:#fff; background-color:#6fd2c8; border-top:1px solid #7db9b2; border-bottom:1px solid #7db9b2; height:28px; line-height:28px;} #tabs .tab div.cont ul li a:hover span.ct{background-position:left bottom; color:#23665f; margin-top:9px;} I would be pleased if you can help me Yours truthfully

  • Div in HTML not floating left with CSS

    - by rusty009
    My div with class name 'header-body-right' doesn't seem to be floating to the left of my div named 'header-body-centre' and I can't understand why, here is my HTML, <!DOCTYPE HTML> <HTML> <HEAD> <TITLE> </TITLE> <meta charset="UTF-8" /> <link href="main.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css"> <META NAME="Generator" CONTENT="Notepad"> <META NAME="Author" CONTENT="00"> <META NAME="KEYWORDS" CONTENT="" /> <META NAME="DESCRIPTION" CONTENT="" /> </HEAD> <BODY> <div class="header-top"> </div> <div class="header-body"> <div class="header-body-centre"> <div class="logo"> <img src="logo.png" /> </div> </div> <div class="header-body-right"> test </div> </div> <div class="navbar"> </div> <div class="content-container"> </div> </BODY> </HTML> The CSS I am using for the code is posted below, body { margin:0px; padding:0px; } .header-top { height:11px; width:100%; background-image: url('HeaderTopNav.png'); background-repeat: repeat-x; } .header-body { width:100%; height:100px; } .header-body-centre { margin: 0 auto; height:100%; width:70%; } .header-body-right { width:15%; height:100px; float:left; } .navbar { height:35px; width:auto; border: 1px solid green; } .logo { margin-top:35px; float:left; } .quickNav { float:right; } .container { margin: 0 auto; background-color: #fff; border: 2px solid #c9c8c8; border-bottom: none; height:auto; overflow:hidden; width: 1000px; clear:both; } Can anyone see why? I have tried floating the header-bosy-centre and decreasing the width of the header-body-right but nothing works. Can anyone see what I have done wrong? I am out of ideas. Thanks.
