  • Oracle : Identifying duplicates in a table without index

    When I try to create a unique index on a large table, I get a unique contraint error. The unique index in this case is a composite key of 4 columns. Is there an efficient way to identify the duplicates other than : select col1, col2, col3, col4, count() from Table1 group by col1, col2, col3, col4 having count() 1 The explain plan above shows full table scan with extremely high cost, and just want to find if there is another way.     I have a table t with a column c, which is an int and has a btree index on it. Why does the following query not utilize this index? explain select c from t group by c; The result I get is: HashAggregate (cost=1005817.55..1005817.71 rows=16 width=4) -> Seq Scan on t (cost=0.00..946059.84 rows=23903084 width=4) My understanding of indexes is limited, but I thought such queries were the purpose of indexes.

    Is there a way in eclipse to search the classpath for arbitrary resource file names (or patterns)? I know I can use either Navigate > Open Type (which will scan the classpath for classes) or Navigate > Open Resource, which will search for any resource type, but only in my project folders. Is there any way to achieve a combination ob both, to do a resource search (something like *.xsd) that searches all jars on the classpath?

I'd like to get an string[] type value that will include all different subjects from all over the list. Is there an elegant way to do it, or I'll have to scan the whole list and enter each subject to it, then remove duplicates?

  • Directory.GetFiles returning entire path, I only want the filename?

    This is the code I have set up to scan a directory of files: Dim fileArray() As String fileArray = Directory.GetFiles(System.AppDomain.CurrentDomain.BaseDirectory & "help\") And it successfully gets all files in the directory, but it gets their absolute paths aswell. For example, one of the entries in fileArray() is: F:\Project\Project\bin\x86\Debug\help\book_troubleshoot.html And I want it to just be: book_troubleshoot.html Is there a way to do this without parsing through all the array entries to trim off the path? I just finished trying to set up ClamAV but it slowed my server down to a hault once initiated so I had to kill it. Does anyone have any recommendations to a program that will accomplish my task and can be executed in php (other than clamAv)? Any advice greatly appreciated.

    I want to define a trigger in PostgreSQL to check that the inserted row, on a generic table, has the the property: "no other row exists with the same key in the same valid time" (the keys are sequenced keys). In fact, I has already implemented it. But since the trigger has to scan the entire table, now i'm wondering: is there a need for a table-level lock? Or this is managed someway by the PostgreSQL itself?

  • Marshalling non-Blittable Structs from C# to C++

    I'm in the process of rewriting an overengineered and unmaintainable chunk of my company's library code that interfaces between C# and C++. I've started looking into P/Invoke, but it seems like there's not much in the way of accessible help. We're passing a struct that contains various parameters and settings down to unmanaged codes, so we're defining identical structs. We don't need to change any of those parameters on the C++ side, but we do need to access them after the P/Invoked function has returned. My questions are: What is the best way to pass strings? Some are short (device id's which can be set by us), and some are file paths (which may contain Asian characters) Should I pass an IntPtr to the C# struct or should I just let the Marshaller take care of it by putting the struct type in the function signature? Should I be worried about any non-pointer datatypes like bools or enums (in other, related structs)? We have the treat warnings as errors flag set in C++ so we can't use the Microsoft extension for enums to force a datatype. Is P/Invoke actually the way to go? There was some Microsoft documentation about Implicit P/Invoke that said it was more type-safe and performant.     I've got a table (col1, col2, ...) with an index on (col1, col2, ...). The table has got millions of rows in it, and I want to run a query: SELECT col1, COUNT(col2) WHERE col1 NOT IN (<couple of exclusions>) GROUP BY col1 Unfortunately, this is resulting in a full table scan of the table, which takes upwards of a minute. Is there any way of getting oracle to use the index on the columns to return the results much faster?

I am currently fetching the information about that one record like this: SELECT * FROM table WHERE table.classified_id = $classified_id I wonder if there is a faster approach, for example like this: SELECT 1 FROM table WHERE table.classified_id = $classified_id Wont the last one only select 1 record, which is exactly what I need, so that it doesn't have to scan the entire table but instead stops searching for records after 1 is found? Then you remember http://super.duper.domain.example Oh. So then you think, okay, find the last period, go back a word and get everything before! Then you remember http://super.duper.domain.co.uk And you're back to square one. Anyone have any great ideas besides storing a list of all TLDs? John
