• OAuth request token for an installed application

  Hi all I'm trying to use/understand Google request token mechanism. I intend to use it for an application I've start to develop to access Orkut data using OpenSocial API. I read this document that explains the steps to obtain a token for an installed application. This document tells you to use the OAuthGetRequestToken method from Google OAuth API to acquire a request token . Accessing the manual of this function (available here). But the parameter oauth_consumer_key, which is required, asks for the "Domain identifying the third-party web application", but I don,t have a domain, it is an installed application. So my question is, what should I put in this parameter in that case? I'm using oauth_playground to run my tests. Thx

  Hi, Is there built in methods into .net framework to do the following: Get role GUID from user name/user GUID Get role name from role GUID So far I have been sending queries to the asp_roles and asp_users tables to obtain that information and I'm wondering if there is a nicer way of doing this? I have the following methods that I store in the ASPUtilities class: getRoleGUID(guid userGuid) { LINQ joins } getRoleGuid(string userName) { LINQ joins } getRoleName(guid roleGuid) { LINQ joins } Thank you EDIT: I have just looked into extending SQLMembershipProvider examples. Few examples completely override the SQLMembershipProvider, but I think what I'm interested is just adding few extra methods to deal with the roles by using LINQ. Is this feasible?

• How to improve my Python regex syntax?

  I very new to Python, and fairly new to regex. (I have no Perl experience.) I am able to use regular expressions in a way that works, but I'm not sure that my code is particularly Pythonic or consise. For example, If I wanted to read in a text file and print out text that appears directly between the words 'foo' and 'bar' in each line (presuming this occurred one or zero times a line) I would write the following: fileList = open(inFile, 'r') pattern = re.compile(r'(foo)(.*)(bar)') for line in fileList: result = pattern.search(line) if (result != None): print result.groups()[1] Is there a better way? The if is necessary to avoid calling groups() on None. But I suspect there is a more concise way to obtain the matching String when there is one, without throwing errors when there isn't. I'm not hoping for Perl-like unreadability. I just want to accomplish this common task in the commonest and simplest way.

• Shared library linking and loading in BusyBox 0.61

  Does anybody know how the dynamic linking and shared library loading works in BusyBox 0.61 ? I can't seem to find how this is done. There's no 'ld' present on the embedded system I'm dealing with, nor is there an LD_LIBRARY_PATH variable set anywhere. My motivation for this is to be able to create a symlink in the /lib directory to another directory on a different device (with considerably more storage space) for adding in more shared libraries, as the file system that contains /lib is a ramdisk that gets reloaded on startup and is within a few kb of being completely full (so we can't add more libraries to the image, nor can we obtain devices with more memory for the ramdisk)

• Programmatic use of ARP

  I have a need for some C or C++ code, compilable under Linux, to be able to take a list of IP addresses of some arbitrary number of remote hosts machines and obtain a ethernet MAC address for each one. These host machines may be on the same subnet or they could be on a different subnet behind a router. Its OK if the MAC address of some or all of the remote hosts is the address of the interface on the router. Ultimately, I want to hand off the IP address and MAC address to an FPGA who will use these pieces of information to format and send UDP/IP packets over ethernet to the hosts. Obviously, the FPGA will also be given its own MAC address and IP address to fill in the source MAC and source IP addresses in the packets. Is there some code I can be pointed to that can create and broadcast ARP packets to these remote machines and receive back the ARP response packets such that the destination MAC addresses can be extracted?

• Get XAML from WPF Custom RichTextFormat

  I've looked at other posts, but i cant seem to find something that works. I have a custom control WPF RichTextBox and would like to obtain the XAML from this control. I have tried the following //rt is the name of this particular custom richtextbox TextRange range = new TextRange(rt.Document.ContentStart, rt.Document.ContentEnd); MemoryStream stream = new MemoryStream(); range.Save(stream, DataFormats.Xaml); string xamlText = Encoding.UTF8.GetString(stream.ToArray()); return xamlText; but this doesnt seem to work :s I can access the rt.Document.Content start etc but it seems to crash there "Object Reference not set to instance of an object". I am using the richtextbox directly from the .xaml.cs so it should be initiated and so on :s. Any Ideas or other ways to get the XAML from a richtextbox pls? (i'm requiring the XAML cos i actually want to get the HTML.. if theres some other direct manner perhaps?)

  I'm struggling with writing a python script that automatically grabs the zip fail containing all my google calendars and stores it (as a backup) on my harddisk. I'm using ClientLogin to get an authentication token (and successfully can obtain the token). Unfortunately, i'm unable to retrieve the file at https://www.google.com/calendar/exporticalzip It always asks me for the login credentials again by returning a login page as html (instead of the zip). Here's the critical code: post_data = post_data = urllib.urlencode({ 'auth': token, 'continue': zip_url}) request = urllib2.Request('https://www.google.com/calendar', post_data, header) try: f = urllib2.urlopen(request) result = f.read() except: print "Error" Anyone any ideas or done that before? • Views performance in MySQL for denormalization

  I am currently writing my truly first PHP Application and i would like to know how to project/design/implement MySQL Views properly; In my particular case User data is spread across several tables (as a consequence of Database Normalization) and i was thinking to use a View to group data into one large table: CREATE VIEW `Users_Merged` ( name, surname, email, phone, role ) AS ( SELECT name, surname, email, phone, 'Customer' FROM `Customer` ) UNION ( SELECT name, surname, email, tel, 'Admin' FROM `Administrator` ) UNION ( SELECT name, surname, email, tel, 'Manager' FROM `manager` ); This way i can use the View's data from the PHP app easily but i don't really know how much this can affect performance. For example: SELECT * from `Users_Merged` WHERE role = 'Admin'; Is the right way to filter view's data or should i filter BEFORE creating the view itself? (I need this to have a list of users and the functionality to filter them by role). EDIT Specifically what i'm trying to obtain is Denormalization of three tables into one. Is my solution correct? • Java parsing UTF8

  I have the following issue with a UTF8 files structured as following: FIELD1§FIELD2§FIELD3§FIELD4 Looking at hexadecimal values of the file it uses A7 to codify §. So according to this codify it should be UTF8, but it's strange because A7 7F so 1 byte shouldn't be enough to codify §. So I tried using directly a BufferedReader with a specified charset: BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(new FileInputStream(input), utf8)) but when I try to tokenize the string with SmartTokenizer st = new SmartTokenizer(toTokenize, "§") (the SmartTokenizer is a modified version of the StringTokenizer that keeps empty tokens) no splitting occurs, and if I try to print the string I obtain FIELD1?FIELD2?FIELD3?... so § used in the file is different from the one specified as a the delimiter, and it's not able to print out it too. So what's the problem here? Maybe the original file should use 2 bytes to store §?

• Retrieve input and output parameters for SQL stored procs and functions?

  For a given SQL stored proc or function, I'm trying to obtain its input and output parameters, where applicable, in a Winforms app I'm creating to browse objects and display their parameters and other attributes. So far I've discovered the SQL system function object_definition, which takes a given sysobjects.id and returns the text of that object; also discovered via search this post which describes extracting the parameters in the context of a app using the ADO.NET method DeriveParameters in conjunction with some caching for better performance; and for good measure found some helpful system stored procs from this earlier post on Hidden Features of SQL Server. I'm leaning towards implementing the DeriveParameters method in my C# app, since parsing the output of object_definition seems messy, and I haven't found a hidden feature in that post so far that would do the trick. Is DeriveParameters applicable to both functions and stored procs for purposes of retreiving their parameters, and if so, could someone please provide an example?

• Determining actual args an Excel UDF was called with.

  I'm adding a user defined function to Excel with varargs-based signature in C++: XLFUNCTIONIMP(MyFunction)(...); When Excel calls MyFunction, it passes it 30 arguments regardless of how many the user entered in the sheet. The extraneous ones are blank strings. MyFunction, however, is designed to accept empty string arguments. As a result, I cannot tell valid empty strings apart from the extraneous ones sent by Excel. A solution could be to obtain the contents of the actual cell where the user entered the function. However, I can't find a way of doing that from within the implementation of my function. Could someone please suggest a way out?

I've created a variable to store how many items have been selected in the Menu Class. private int totalSelected; The var totalSelected is live updated. It can be changed anytime depending on actionPerformed() function.(Exp: totalSelected will add up all the selected items) In the Order Class, how can I access to the live update variable totalSelected in order to retrieve the live update value? When I invoke getTotalSelected() function inside the Menu Class, I will only obtain a 0 value. Thanks for your help ^^!

• Extracting data from multiple servers SQL 2005 SSIS

  I have created an SSIS package to connect to multiple SQL servers, create a database, a table and a stored procedure. The package also creates a job and schedules it to run every 5 minutes. The requirement is to collect performance metrics. I am using an ado object variable to get the server names and all the above tasks are in a for each loop and everything works fine. Now the problem: I need to create a data flow task, which will connect to each of these servers in turn, copy the performance metrics data over to a central server and purge the source table. I am unable to get this task to work. This task fails with "Unable to obtain Connection" error. Any help will be greatly appreciated. SQL Server Version : 2005 Thanks, Raj

• Svn - get the list of all repos on a server so I can svnsync

  I'm attempting to create a backup of my client's existing svn repositories, which is publicly available over http. If possible, I'd like to be able to make new repositories automatically, from any computer, without having to give console access to the server to external parties (i.e. the users could do a ls on my svn repo dir) My problem is that I need to know the list of svn repositories on the server - it isn't a fixed list, since the user will add new repositories over time. I'm able to list the repositories on an html page via Apache's mod_dav_svn module, using the SVNListParentPath On directive. I got this page: http://svn.ohwr.org/ My question is: what is the easiest way to obtain a usable list of such repositories? I'll need to parse that list in order to make syncs, probably using shell commands. Must I parse the HTML with shell commands, or is there a better way to get that list?

I can get the code to call the procedure, but how do I access the returned Custom Object to obtain it's contained values?. • Using Spring's KeyHolder with programmatically-generated primary keys

  Hello, I am using Spring's NamedParameterJdbcTemplate to perform an insert into a table. The table uses a NEXTVAL on a sequence to obtain the primary key. I then want this generated ID to be passed back to me. I am using Spring's KeyHolder implementation like this: KeyHolder key = new GeneratedKeyHolder(); jdbcTemplate.update(Constants.INSERT_ORDER_STATEMENT, params, key); However, when I run this statement, I am getting: org.springframework.dao.DataRetrievalFailureException: The generated key is not of a supported numeric type. Unable to cast [oracle.sql.ROWID] to [java.lang.Number] at org.springframework.jdbc.support.GeneratedKeyHolder.getKey(GeneratedKeyHolder.java:73) Any ideas what I am missing?

  Hi Does anyone know how to integrate several checkout badges into an order form? It might sound obvious to all (or most) but within the html wouldn't the form tag have an action to just one of the online merchants and not all? For example? I would like to have a basic order form which collects a users name, email, uploaded files, project details, and a few packages to choose from. Once they have selected the package most appropriate to them? They would be given a total cost and asked to pay via Paypal, Google Checkout OR Moneybookers. Can anyone help me out on this?   Hi I'm using Joomla 1.5.14 and I configured SEO as in the following image Now I need to map a few old URL to the new site let's say that I need to map htp://mysite/old.html to the new Joomla page http://mysite/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=32&Itemid=70 I added in my .htaccess file the following RewriteRule ^old\.html$ index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=32&Itemid=70 #works!! this works fine, but if I use the SEF URL in .htaccess (let's say the above page can be reached with htp://mysite/contacts.html), I obtain a 404 error RewriteRule ^old\.html$ contacts.html #this does not work Now the question: Is it possible use SEF URLs in RewriteRule? where am I wrong? thank you in advance stefano

• Installing Sass on Gentoo

  I've been trying to install Sass on Gentoo, but it hasn't been going too well. Unfortunately, the latest version of Sass in portage is 3.1.21. What I want to use Sass for requires at least Sass 3.2, which is available through rubygems. What I've tried: emerge dev-ruby/sass (installs an old version) gem install sass The second command appears to install the Sass gem. However, I do not use Rails or Ruby in any other aspect apart from Sass, so the gem appears useless to me. In addition, I do not know where gems are installed to or how to use them (I'm a ruby noob.) All I want to do is call sass from the command line. Are there any ways to obtain an up-to-date version of Sass which I can just use from the command line? Cheers.

  One of my interview Questions, if multiple users across the world are accessing the application, in which it uses a Table which has a Primary Key as Auto Increment Field. The Question how can you prevent the other user getting the Same Primary key when the other user is executing? My answer was I will obtain the Lock on the table and I will make the user to wait Until that user is released with the Primary key. But the Question How do you acquire the Table lock programmatically and implement this? If there are 1000 users coming every minute to the application, if you explicity hold the lock on the table, then the application will become slower? How do you manage this? Please suggest the possible answers for the above question
