    I'd like to assign basic tasks to the function keys (or other keys if it's easier) on my MacBook. For example I'd like the following to happen when F1 (or whatever key) is pressed: Launch Safari Open a new window Navigate to some specified site Another example could be: Launch Xcode Open some specific project I've experimented with the Automator for things like re-naming dozens of files in a particular directory but I don't know where to start for the above examples.

    I would like a way to clear cache from all my locally installed browsers - quickly and easily. A simple utility that would ask "Clear all browser caches?" with Yes/No. Just the major browsers -IE, Firefox, Safari, Chrome and optionally Opera I understand CCleaner can do this but it is not as simple as I would like (as it has other functions as well). I tried googling/stacking and couldn't find anything.

    I have developed a asp.net application on my VMWare virtual machine that I can access (on my VM) by going to http://localhost:1044 How can I access this from safari on my Mac that is running the VM? I tried running ipconfig on my VM and then using the IP address that was given for "Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection", something like this: http://192.168.179.139:1044/ but this throws a not found error. I am currently using NAT. How can I get to localhost on my VM from my mac?

  • Viewing movies/TV programs requires constant mouse movements or keyboard activity to watch…

    when viewing a television program using Internet Explorer/Firefox/Chrome/SeaMonkey/Safari it constantly pauses unless I have some kind of activity with either the mouse or the keyboard. The browser with the least amount of problems is SeaMonkey, the one with the most is Internet Explorer. Annie idea of what is causing this or how to prevent it? My finger gets rather tired watching a two-hour movie! :-) Thank you. Ross

I wonder if NoScript protects against the kind of exploits written about; or whether the browser can be exploited regardless of having the extension loaded. Any opinions?   • Volume keys not working after installing Silverlight

    I downloaded Silverlight for Safari to use Netflix. This download has caused my MacBook's volume keys to become non-functional, although I can still change volume through the icon in the menu bar or through system preferences. When I press the keys to change the volume, the transparent volume icon appears on the screen with a circle-slash icon at bottom center. Does anyone know how to make the keys functional again? I deleted Silverlight but still no sound.

  • Firefox appending .xls extension to .xlsx files

    We are serving files with the .xlsx (excel 2007/2010) extension. IE, Chrome, Safari all download the file and open excel just fine. Firefox is being stupid. For some reason it's appending .xls to the extension. I found this: https://support.mozilla.com/bs/questions/758363 However, the instructions weren't very specific and completely unclear to me.   • Integrated Windows Authentication not working in IE only

    In my site I have one folder that does not allow anonymous access. It is set up to use Integrated Windows Authentication as it is on an AD domain. The login works fine in Firefox, Chrome, even Safari, but not IE8. Has anyone encountered this before? I can't seem to find anyone else with a similar issue, except for where the login fails in all browsers of course.

    The problem: If i access SharePoint from Windows 7 with IE8 or Chrome5 - I must wait for like a minute to get a response. If i use other Windows 7 with IE8, just the same - just wait a MINUTE. If i use Firefox3.6 on W7 machine - page opens up instantly. Now switch to IE rendering engine in Firefox, you will have to wait just as with IE. Now i tried IE8 on XP SP3 - page opens up instantly. I tried IE8 on Windows Server 2003 SP2 (machine on which SharePoint is hosted) - page opens up instantly. Now, as far as it looks, there doesn't seem to be a backquote (backtick) on the iPhone keyboard. Under the single quote key, I've found two curly/angled quotes, but those (’ and ‘) don't seem to do the trick... So, how do I create an inline code block from iPhone/Safari?

  • Browser displays 'Apache is functioning normally' when I enter 'http://you/' in the location bar

    I am on a Mac and when I enter http://you/ in the location bar, it displays 'Apache is functioning normally' no matter which browser (Safari, Firefox, Chrome) I am using. Is this normal? Or could it be that my computer is hacked in some way and is now acting as a server for the hackers? EDIT: I originally wanted to go to the youtube.com, but entered http://you/ by accident and found out this strange behavior.

Each table should fit on one page, but both Firefox and Safari want to break them over multiple pages and put more than one on a page. Is there any way to force it to not break the tables across pages? I can use any Mac program to print. Thanks.
