  • SQL – Biggest Concerns in a Data-Driven World

    The ongoing chaos over Government Agency’s snooping has ignited a heated debate on privacy of personal data and its use by government and/or other institutions. It has created a feeling of disapproval and distrust among users. This incident proves to be a lesson for companies that are looking to leverage their business using a data driven approach. According to analysts, the goal of gathering personal information should be to deliver benefits to both the parties – the user as well as the data collector(government or business). Using data the right way is crucial, and companies need to deploy the right software applications and systems to ensure that their efforts are well-directed. However, there are various issues plaguing analysts regarding available software, which are highlighted below. According to a InformationWeek 2013 Survey of Analytics, Business Intelligence and Information Management where 541 business technology professionals contributed as respondents, it was discovered that the biggest concern was deemed to be the scarcity of expertise and high costs associated with the same. This concern was voiced by as many as 38% of the participants. A close second came out to be the issue of data warehouse appliance platforms being expensive, with 33% of those present believing it to be a huge roadblock. Another revelation made in this respect was that 31% professionals weren’t even sure how Data Analytics can create business opportunities for them. Another 17% shared that they found data platform technologies such as Hadoop and NoSQL technologies hard to learn. These results clearly pointed out that there are awareness and expertise issues that also need much attention. Unless the demand-supply gap of Business Intelligence professionals well versed in data analysis technologies is met, this divide is going to affect how companies make the most of their BI campaigns. One of the key action points that can be taken to salvage the situation, is to provide training on Data Analytics concepts.   • ICAM Webcast Replay and slides

    On October 10, 2012 Derrick Harcey and I co-presented on how Oracle IDM helps customers address the guidelines of Identity Credential Access Management, from a Federal (FICAM) and a State (SICAM) perspective.   • What are the pros and cons of public sector vs private sector software development? [closed]

    I'm currently considering a job working for my state of residence. However, besides the obvious drawback of far less compensation than I could get in the private sector, are there any other drawbacks? Are there any upsides to public work, besides helping society at large and benefits? My main concern is that if I work in the public sector, I might be stained with the perception that I "got along" in an uncompetitive environment. I have no idea if this would be the actual environment, but it seems to be the preconception about government work--unionized workers who are simply there because the union keeps them from being fired. So, does anyone have experience working for the government? Do you have experiences working with people transitioning from public to private sector?

KLISS is developed by Propylon in partnership with the executive and legislative branches of the Kansas Government involving a complete overhaul of the Legislature's IT systems.     Device: Curve 8520 OS: 4.6.1 JDE: 5.0.25 JDK: 1.6 Signed app? Yes. Hello, I'm trying to deploy a blackberry app (called 'ConstituenC') that works fine in the simulator. It uses restricted APIs, so I obtained a key from RIM and applied it via the Java Development Environment. When I attempt to run on my phone (BB Curve, 8520. OS: 4.6.1), it shows an error saying "'ConstituentC' attempts to access a secure API." The following is shown in the BB Event Log: Java Exception: Error starting ConstituentC: Module 'ConstituentC' attempts to access a secure API. Error starting ConstituentC: Module 'ConstituentC' attempts to access a secure API.   • How to add a Web Reference to a SSL web service?

    Hi, I have a web service in a C#/3.5 project which has been running fine. This is until I set the "SSL port" in IIS to 443 and set the "IIS - Directory Security - Secure Communications - Require secure channel (SSL)" option to true. Now, the web reference cannot be updated and I cannot add a new web reference to the web service in that site. When I try to view the service in a browse using just HTTP I get the "This page must be viewed over a secure channel" and when viewed with HTTPS on the front I get "This web page not available." Could someone tell me how to get a Web Reference added using Visual Studio to this secure web service, please? Thanks, Matt.

    Hi all, I was testing Zend Gdata 1.10.1 in my localhost. I downloaded Zend Gdate from this link: http://framework.zend.com/download/webservices Inside the Zend Gdata zip file, there was a folder called demos. I extracted it and used the YouTudeVideoApp to upload a sample video to Youtube. But every time after I logged into Youtube, before it redirected me to my localhost, I received a warning message like this warning message: localhost: This website is registered with Google to make authorization requests, but has not been configured to send requests securely. We recommend that you continue the process only if you trust the following destination: localhost:8080/youtube/operations.php So I googled on how to resolve the problem of getting this warning message when I saw some people suggesed changing the value of $secure to True in operation.php. Here is the script mentioned: function generateAuthSubRequestLink($nextUrl = null) { $scope = 'http://gdata.youtube.com'; $secure = true; $session = true; if (!$nextUrl) { generateUrlInformation(); $nextUrl = $_SESSION['operationsUrl']; } $url = Zend_Gdata_AuthSub::getAuthSubTokenUri($nextUrl, $scope, $secure, $session); echo '<a href="' . $url . But once I pressed the Allow Access button, it turned out to be this: ERROR - Token upgrade for CI3M6_Q3EOGkxoL-___wEYjffToQQ failed : Token upgrade failed. Reason: Invalid AuthSub header. Error 401 ERROR - Unknown search type - '' I don't know why this happened. Could you help me solve the problem please?

  • changing src reference based upon https

    I'm adding a facebook comment widget to a website. I'm placing this widget in a file that is included on everypage. The navigation is relatively linked so it switches back and forth from http and https. But for some reason the comment widget only shows up if both the src linked file and webpage is secure or both the src linked file and webpage is NOT secure. The widget does not display of the src file is secure and the webpage is not secure. So...
