    Is there a way to automate code signing a VBA project in a Word 2003 and/or Word 2007 document? By automate I mean via a command line utility or via Word VBA automation? Motivation: I would like to code sign several Word templates as part of an automated daily build and distribution cycle.   • Getting a NullPointerException at seemingly random intervals, not sure why

    I'm running an example from a Kinect library for Processing (http://www.shiffman.net/2010/11/14/kinect-and-processing/) and sometimes get a NullPointerException pointing to this line: int rawDepth = depth[offset]; The depth array is created in this line: int[] depth = kinect.getRawDepth(); I'm not exactly sure what a NullPointerException is, and much googling hasn't really helped. It seems odd to me that the code compiles 70% of the time and returns the error unpredictably. Could the hardware itself be affecting it?   • .NET Generate email text in Outlook from Word

    I am attempting to generate the body of an email in Outlook 2007 from the text of a Word 2007 document in VB. I have access to both the Word and Outlook object libraries, and I can read from the Word document to get a string and write it to Outlook, but I need to keep the formatting from the Word document intact. The purpose will be to allow users to edit the word document and always have the emails my program generates be in sync with the document. Does anyone know how to do this?

  • Extract data from delinked Excel plot

    I have a Word file which has some Excel plots in it. Unfortunately I lost the original excel plots and the word file is now 'de-linked'. Is there a way to retrieve the lost data for the plots? Just copying the plot back to Excel does not seem to work, but I can see that the data is still there somewhere, because hovering over a dot on the plot shows the values.     I am supposed to: Capitalize the first letter of string. Capitalize every word except articles (the, a, an), conjunctions (and), and prepositions (in). Capitalize i (as in "I am male."). Specify the first word of a string (I actually have no idea what this means. I'm trying to run the spec file to test other functions).   • SharePoint Search: processing filenames containing underscores

    We use SharePoint Server 2007 to allow employees to search network file shares, but it seems that underscores in filenames are not treated as word separators when indexing the files. As a result, a search for chocolate will: match "chocolate milkshake.doc" but not match "chocolate_cake.doc" (Of course, this is a simplified example; in practice the content of the second file might include the word "chocolate" and match on that instead of the filename. But the problem itself is real enough, because a common scenario in a corporate environment is that a user knows the the partial name of the file they are looking for and expects to see matching filenames at the top of the search results. And using underscores in filenames is a widely used convention within our company). Underscores are not treated as word separators in the file content either, although this is less of a concern for us. The root cause of this problem is possibly related to the behaviour of the word breakers that SharePoint uses (i.e. the language-specific DLLs that implement the IWorkBreaker interface), although I haven't confirmed this yet. Does anyone know of a workaround for this issue? I have tested with Search Server 2008 Express too (which is based on the same technology), and it is also affected. I do not know whether the problem is fixed in SharePoint 2010 or not.

  • Linux Cups raspberry pi offload processing to server

    I am interested in setting up a raspberry pi as the local end of a printing solution. In my testing the pi chokes on acting as a complete cups based print server. It seems a little underpowered for some of the ghostscipt processing and other filtering that occurs-- particularly on larger or complex documents the processing time can be 5 or more minutes. My question is can the processing be largely done elsewhere and the prepared end product of the processing chain be fed to the pi for output on the connected printer? So in this scenario any arbitrary document (html, pdf, text) is initially 'printed' on a relatively powerful machine but the output is stored in a file. This file is then grabbed by the pi and with all the heavy work out of the way easily printed using cups. I know files can be pushed through cups in raw mode but I am fuzzy on the pros and cons and the applicability in what I describe. I have tested this with pdftops creating a ps file then feeding that raw to cups and I think it works but it seems like there may be a cleaner solution. This scenario would ideally work for any number of printer types.

  • Open the Word Application from a button on a web page

    I'm developing a proof of concept web application: A web page with a button that opens the Word Application installed on the user's PC. I'm stuck with a C# project in Visual Studio 2008 Express (Windows XP client, LAMP server). I've followed the Writing an ActiveX Control in .NET tutorial and after some tuning it worked fine. Then I added my button for opening Word. The problem is that I can reference the Microsoft.Office.Interop.Word from the project, but I'm not able to access it from the web page. The error says "That assembly does not allow partially trusted callers". I've read a lot about security in .NET, but I'm totally lost now. Disclaimer: I'm into .NET since 4 days ago. I've tried to work around this issue but I cannot see the light!!   • Word 2003: Bullet style renamed; is there some way to reverse this?

    I have a machine that seems to have had its bullet style permanently changed - I previously was creating a document which had a question/answer format, where the answers were bullet points, so I created a style for them. The problem is, it seems to have stuck. If you click the "Bullet" button, the paragraph is formatted in the style. I've tried deleting the style in Normal.dot, and even deleting the Normal.dot file in the entirely - neither seems to fix the problem. Anyone have any other bright ideas on how to fix it?

  • How do you create a report in Word (or other documentation software) that is linked directly with Ex

    I believe my question may be best answered by using Access since that's more what it's made for. However, I don't have a license for Access here at work and trying to get one is pulling teeth. So I'm curious if there is any way to compile reports with data in an Excel 2007 sheet. The output can be .doc, .docx, .pdf - or anything else if there's a decent piece of free 3rd party software. This might be easiest solved by just creating another sheet in the same workbook and directly linking to the data I want to display in a report-esque format. But I wanted to see if SU could offer some more creative solutions.
