  • How can I improve the "smoothness" of a 2D side-scrolling iPhone game?

    - by MrDatabase
    I'm working on a relatively simple 2D side-scrolling iPhone game. The controls are tilt-based. I use OpenGL ES 1.1 for the graphics. The game state is updated at a rate of 30 Hz... And the drawing is updated at a rate of 30 fps (via NSTimer). The smoothness of the drawing is ok... But not quite as smooth as a game like iFighter. What can I do to improve the smoothness of the game? Here are the potential issues I've briefly considered: I'm varying the opacity of up to 15 "small" (20x20 pixels) textures at a time... Apparently varying the opacity in this manner can degrade drawing performance I'm rendering at only 30 fps (via NSTimer)... Perhaps 2D games like iFighter are rendered at a higher frame rate? Perhaps the game state could be updated at a faster rate? Note the acceleration vales are updated at 100 Hz... So I could potentially update part of the game state at 100 hz All of my textures are PNG24... Perhaps PNG8 would help (due to smaller size etc)

  • How can state changes be batched while adhering to opaque-front-to-back/alpha-blended-back-to-front?

    - by Sion Sheevok
    This is a question I've never been able to find the answer to. Batching objects with similar states is a major performance gain when rendering many objects. However, I've been learned various rules when drawing objects in the game world. Draw all opaque objects, front-to-back. Draw all alpha-blended objects, back-to-front. Some of the major parameters to batch by, as I understand it, are textures, vertex buffers, and index buffers. It seems that, as long as you are adhering to the above two rules, there's little to be done in regards to batching. I see one possibility to batch, while still adhering to the above two rules. Opaque objects can still be drawn out of depth-order, because drawing them front-to-back is merely a fillrate optimization, meanwhile state changes may very well be far more expensive than the overdraw of drawing out of depth-order. However, non-opaque objects, those that require alpha-blending at least, must be drawn back-to-front in order to avoid rendering artifacts. Is the loss of the fillrate optimization for opaques worth the state batching optimization?

  • Finite Numbers and ExplorerCanvas

    - by PhubarBaz
    I was working on my online mathematical graphing application, CloudGraph, and trying to make it work in IE. The app uses the HTML5 canvas element to draw graphs. Since IE doesn't support canvas yet I use ExplorerCanvas to provide that support for IE. However, it seems that when using excanvas, if you try to moveTo or drawTo a point that is not finite it loses it's mind and stops drawing anything else after that. I had no such problems in Firefox or Chrome so it took me awhile to figure out what was going on. Next I discovered that I needed a way to check if a variable was NaN or Inifinity or any other non-finite value so I could avoid calling moveTo() in that case. I started writing a long if statement, then I thought there has to be a better way. Sure enough there was. There just happens to be an isFinite() function built into Javascript just for this purpose. Who knew! It works great. Another difference I discovered with excanvas is that you must specify a starting point using a moveTo() when beginning a drawing path. Again, Chrome and Firefox are a lot more forgiving in this area so it took me a while to figure out why my lines weren't drawing. But, all is happy now and I'm a little wiser to the ways of the canvas.

  • Using Optical Flow in EmguCV

    - by Meko
    HI. I am trying to create simple touch game using EmguCV.Should I use optical flow to determine for interaction between images on screen and with my hand ,if changes of points somewhere on screen more than 100 where the image, it means my hand is over image? But how can I track this new points? I can draw on screen here the previous points and new points but It shows on my head more points then my hand and I can not track my hands movements. void Optical_Flow_Worker(object sender, EventArgs e) { { Input_Capture.SetCaptureProperty(Emgu.CV.CvEnum.CAP_PROP.CV_CAP_PROP_POS_FRAMES, ActualFrameNumber); ActualFrame = Input_Capture.QueryFrame(); ActualGrayFrame = ActualFrame.Convert<Gray, Byte>(); NextFrame = Input_Capture.QueryFrame(); NextGrayFrame = NextFrame.Convert<Gray, Byte>(); ActualFeature = ActualGrayFrame.GoodFeaturesToTrack(500, 0.01d, 0.01, 5); ActualGrayFrame.FindCornerSubPix(ActualFeature, new System.Drawing.Size(10, 10), new System.Drawing.Size(-1, -1), new MCvTermCriteria(20, 0.3d)); OpticalFlow.PyrLK(ActualGrayFrame, NextGrayFrame, ActualFeature[0], new System.Drawing.Size(10, 10), 3, new MCvTermCriteria(20, 0.03d), out NextFeature, out Status, out TrackError); OpticalFlowFrame = new Image<Bgr, Byte>(ActualFrame.Width, ActualFrame.Height); OpticalFlowFrame = NextFrame.Copy(); for (int i = 0; i < ActualFeature[0].Length; i++) DrawFlowVectors(i); ActualFrameNumber++; pictureBox1.Image = ActualFrame.Resize(320, 400).ToBitmap() ; pictureBox3.Image = OpticalFlowFrame.Resize(320, 400).ToBitmap(); } } private void DrawFlowVectors(int i) { System.Drawing.Point p = new Point(); System.Drawing.Point q = new Point(); p.X = (int)ActualFeature[0][i].X; p.Y = (int)ActualFeature[0][i].Y; q.X = (int)NextFeature[i].X; q.Y = (int)NextFeature[i].Y; p.X = (int)(q.X + 6 * Math.Cos(angle + Math.PI / 4)); p.Y = (int)(q.Y + 6 * Math.Sin(angle + Math.PI / 4)); p.X = (int)(q.X + 6 * Math.Cos(angle - Math.PI / 4)); p.Y = (int)(q.Y + 6 * Math.Sin(angle - Math.PI / 4)); OpticalFlowFrame.Draw(new Rectangle(q.X,q.Y,1,1), new Bgr(Color.Red), 1); OpticalFlowFrame.Draw(new Rectangle(p.X, p.Y, 1, 1), new Bgr(Color.Blue), 1); }

  • RegisterRequiresControlState can only be called before and during PreRender.

    - by user203127
    Hi When i am trying to export data from gridview to excelML I am getting error like RegisterRequiresControlState can only be called before and during PreRender. I dont know why it is happening. Please help me to sove this issue. Here is my sample code. I didnt implement any prerender method in my code. If i need to implement what should i write in that. protected void Button4_Click(object sender, System.EventArgs e) { ConfigureExport(); RadGrid1.ExportSettings.Excel.Format = Telerik.Web.UI.GridExcelExportFormat.ExcelML; CheckBox1.Checked = true; RadGrid1.ExportSettings.ExportOnlyData = true; RadGrid1.MasterTableView.ExportToExcel(); } public void ConfigureExport() { RadGrid1.ExportSettings.ExportOnlyData = CheckBox1.Checked; RadGrid1.ExportSettings.IgnorePaging = CheckBox2.Checked; RadGrid1.ExportSettings.OpenInNewWindow = CheckBox3.Checked; } protected void RadGrid1_ExcelMLExportRowCreated(object source, Telerik.Web.UI.GridExcelBuilder.GridExportExcelMLRowCreatedArgs e) { if (e.RowType == Telerik.Web.UI.GridExcelBuilder.GridExportExcelMLRowType.DataRow) { if (e.Row.Cells[0] != null && ((string)e.Row.Cells[0].Data.DataItem).Contains("U")) { e.Row.Cells[0].StyleValue = "MyCustomStyle"; e.Worksheet.Name = "comcast"; } } } protected void RadGrid1_ExcelMLExportStylesCreated(object source, Telerik.Web.UI.GridExcelBuilder.GridExportExcelMLStyleCreatedArgs e) { foreach (Telerik.Web.UI.GridExcelBuilder.StyleElement style in e.Styles) { if (style.Id == "headerStyle") { style.FontStyle.Bold = true; style.FontStyle.Color = System.Drawing.Color.Gainsboro; style.InteriorStyle.Color = System.Drawing.Color.Wheat; style.InteriorStyle.Pattern = Telerik.Web.UI.GridExcelBuilder.InteriorPatternType.Solid; } else if (style.Id == "itemStyle") { style.InteriorStyle.Color = System.Drawing.Color.WhiteSmoke; style.InteriorStyle.Pattern = Telerik.Web.UI.GridExcelBuilder.InteriorPatternType.Solid; } else if (style.Id == "alternatingItemStyle") { style.InteriorStyle.Color = System.Drawing.Color.LightGray; style.InteriorStyle.Pattern = Telerik.Web.UI.GridExcelBuilder.InteriorPatternType.Solid; } } Telerik.Web.UI.GridExcelBuilder.StyleElement myStyle = new Telerik.Web.UI.GridExcelBuilder.StyleElement("MyCustomStyle"); myStyle.FontStyle.Bold = true; myStyle.FontStyle.Italic = true; myStyle.InteriorStyle.Color = System.Drawing.Color.Gray; myStyle.InteriorStyle.Pattern = Telerik.Web.UI.GridExcelBuilder.InteriorPatternType.Solid; e.Styles.Add(myStyle); }

statement, it runs out of memory. This is absolutely blowing my mind. Can anyone help? (I suspect it has to do with repsep, but I am not sure.) define foo(a) { if (!h(IM) && a(1)) then { return 0; } if (a() && !h()) then { return 0; } } EDIT: Any constructive comments about my Scala style is also appreciated.

  • How to edit item in a listbox shown from reading a .csv file?

    - by Shuvo
    I am working in a project where my application can open a .csv file and read data from it. The .csv file contains the latitude, longitude of places. The application reads data from the file shows it in a static map and display icon on the right places. The application can open multiple file at a time and it opens with a new tab every time. But I am having trouble in couple of cases When I am trying to add a new point to the .csv file opened. I am able to write new point on the same file instead adding a new point data to the existing its replacing others and writing the new point only. I cannot use selectedIndexChange event to perform edit option on the listbox and then save the file. Any direction would be great. using System; using System.Collections.Generic; using System.ComponentModel; using System.Data; using System.Drawing; using System.Linq; using System.Text; using System.Windows.Forms; • iPod/iPhone OpenGL ES UIView flashes when updating

    - by Dave Viner
    I have a simple iPhone application which uses OpenGL ES (v1) to draw a line based on the touches of the user. In the XCode Simulator, the code works perfectly. However, when I install the app onto an iPod or iPhone, the OpenGL ES view "flashes" when drawing the line. If I disable the line drawing, the flash disappears. By "flash", I mean that the background image (which is an OpenGL texture) disappears momentarily, and then reappears. It appears as if the entire scene is completely erased and redrawn. The code which handles the line drawing is the following: renderLineFromPoint:(CGPoint)start toPoint:(CGPoint)end { static GLfloat* vertexBuffer = NULL; static NSUInteger vertexMax = 64; NSUInteger vertexCount = 0, count, i; //Allocate vertex array buffer if(vertexBuffer == NULL) vertexBuffer = malloc(vertexMax * 2 * sizeof(GLfloat)); //Add points to the buffer so there are drawing points every X pixels count = MAX(ceilf(sqrtf((end.x - start.x) * (end.x - start.x) + (end.y - start.y) * (end.y - start.y)) / kBrushPixelStep), 1); for(i = 0; i < count; ++i) { if(vertexCount == vertexMax) { vertexMax = 2 * vertexMax; vertexBuffer = realloc(vertexBuffer, vertexMax * 2 * sizeof(GLfloat)); } vertexBuffer[2 * vertexCount + 0] = start.x + (end.x - start.x) * ((GLfloat)i / (GLfloat)count); vertexBuffer[2 * vertexCount + 1] = start.y + (end.y - start.y) * ((GLfloat)i / (GLfloat)count); vertexCount += 1; } //Render the vertex array glVertexPointer(2, GL_FLOAT, 0, vertexBuffer); glDrawArrays(GL_POINTS, 0, vertexCount); //Display the buffer [context presentRenderbuffer:GL_RENDERBUFFER_OES]; } (This function is based on the function of the same name from the GLPaint sample application.) For the life of me, I can not figure out why this causes the screen to flash. The line is drawn properly (both in the Simulator and in the iPod). But, the flash makes it unusable. Anyone have ideas on how to prevent the "flash"?

  • OpenCV : How to display webcam capture in windows form application?

    - by sneixum
    generally we display webcam or video motion in opencv windows with : CvCapture* capture = cvCreateCameraCapture(0); cvNamedWindow( "title", CV_WINDOW_AUTOSIZE ); cvMoveWindow("title",x,y); while(1) { frame = cvQueryFrame( capture ); if( !frame ) { break; } cvShowImage( "title", frame ); char c = cvWaitKey(33); if( c == 27 ) { break; } } i tried to use pictureBox that is successful to display image in windows form with this : pictureBox1-Image = gcnew System::Drawing::Bitmap( image-width,image-height,image-widthStep,System::Drawing::Imaging::PixelFormat::Undefined, ( System::IntPtr ) image- imageData); but when im trying to display captured image from video it wont works, here is the source : CvCapture* capture = cvCreateCameraCapture(0); while(1) { frame = cvQueryFrame( capture ); if( !frame ) { break; } pictureBox1->Image = gcnew System::Drawing::Bitmap( frame->width,frame->height,frame->widthStep,System::Drawing::Imaging::PixelFormat::Undefined, ( System::IntPtr ) frame-> imageData); char c = cvWaitKey(33); if( c == 27 ) { break; } } is there anyway to use windows form instead opencv windows to show video or webcam? or is there something wrong with my code? thanks for your help.. :)

    Hi, I have a function which first reads an image from disk, resizes it and then saves to another directory. when i use the Bitmap.Save(directory + theimagename) it returns the error as i stated in the question title. i checked the directory is right, and the given image name doesn't exist in that dir. what is weird, is that the same code works great on the local machine. but when i upload it to my shared server. it just doesn't work. the code is below. bmpOut = new Bitmap(Size, Size); Graphics g = Graphics.FromImage(bmpOut); g.InterpolationMode = System.Drawing.Drawing2D.InterpolationMode.HighQualityBicubic; g.FillRectangle(Brushes.White, 0, 0, Size, Size); int topBottomPadding = 0; int leftRightPadding = 0; if (Size > lnNewWidth + 1) leftRightPadding = Convert.ToInt32((Size - lnNewWidth) / 2); else if (Size > lnNewHeight + 1) topBottomPadding = Convert.ToInt32((Size - lnNewHeight) / 2); g.DrawImage(loBMP, leftRightPadding, topBottomPadding, lnNewWidth, lnNewHeight); Bitmap bmp = new Bitmap(bmpOut); if (bmp != null) bmp.Save(ResizedOutput); bmp.Dispose(); bmpOut.Dispose(); g.Dispose(); loBMP.Dispose(); stack trace: [ExternalException (0x80004005): A generic error occurred in GDI+.] System.Drawing.Image.Save(String filename, ImageCodecInfo encoder, EncoderParameters encoderParams) +377630 System.Drawing.Image.Save(String filename, ImageFormat format) +69 System.Drawing.Image.Save(String filename) +25 Utilities.ResizeImage(String fileName, String mode) in c:\inetpub\vhosts\batuhanakcay.com\httpdocs\App_Code\Utilities.cs:181 Link.ToProductImage(String fileName) in c:\inetpub\vhosts\batuhanakcay.com\httpdocs\App_Code\Link.cs:79 Product.PopulateControls(ProductDetails pd) in c:\inetpub\vhosts\batuhanakcay.com\httpdocs\Product.aspx.cs:37 Product.Page_Load(Object sender, EventArgs e) in c:\inetpub\vhosts\batuhanakcay.com\httpdocs\Product.aspx.cs:20

  • Issue while saving image using savefiledialog

    - by user1097772
    I'm using savefiledialog to save an image. Canvas is picturebox and the loaded image is bitmap. When I try to save it the file is created but somehow corrupted. Cause when I try againt load the image or show in different viewer it doesn't work - I mean the saved file is corrupted. There is an method for saving image. private void saveFileDialog1_FileOk(object sender, CancelEventArgs e) { System.IO.FileStream fs = (System.IO.FileStream)saveFileDialog1.OpenFile(); try { switch (saveFileDialog1.FilterIndex) { case 1: canvas.Image.Save(saveFileDialog1.FileName, System.Drawing.Imaging.ImageFormat.Bmp); break; case 2: canvas.Image.Save(saveFileDialog1.FileName, System.Drawing.Imaging.ImageFormat.Jpeg); break; case 3: canvas.Image.Save(saveFileDialog1.FileName, System.Drawing.Imaging.ImageFormat.Png); break; case 4: canvas.Image.Save(saveFileDialog1.FileName, System.Drawing.Imaging.ImageFormat.Tiff); break; } } catch (Exception ex) { System.Console.WriteLine("Exception " + ex); } I should also mention the property Filter. saveFileDialog1.Filter has value: bmp (*.bmp)|*.bmp|jpeg (*.jpeg)|*.jpeg|png (*.png)|*.png|tiff (*.tiff)|*.tiff

  • ASP.NET MVC: Can't figure out what VirtualPath is?

    - by Ryan_Pitts
    I have a View that displays a list of images and i am now trying to get it to display the images as thumbnails. Well, i'm pretty sure i got most of it right using VirtualPath's from a custom ActionResult although i can't seem to figure out what it is making the VirtualPath url?? BTW, i'm using XML to store the data from the images instead of SQL. Here is my code: Code from my custom ActionResult: public class ThumbnailResult : ActionResult { public ThumbnailResult(string virtualPath) { this.VirtualPath = virtualPath; } public string VirtualPath { get; set; } public override void ExecuteResult(ControllerContext context) { context.HttpContext.Response.ContentType = "image/bmp"; string fullFileName = context.HttpContext.Server.MapPath("~/Galleries/WhereConfusionMeetsConcrete/" + VirtualPath); using (System.Drawing.Image photoImg = System.Drawing.Image.FromFile(fullFileName)) { using (System.Drawing.Image thumbPhoto = photoImg.GetThumbnailImage(100, 100, null, new System.IntPtr())) { using (System.IO.MemoryStream ms = new System.IO.MemoryStream()) { thumbPhoto.Save(ms, System.Drawing.Imaging.ImageFormat.Jpeg); context.HttpContext.Response.BinaryWrite(ms.ToArray()); context.HttpContext.Response.End(); } } } } } Code for my Controller: public ActionResult Thumbnail(string id) { return new ThumbnailResult(id); } Code for my View: <% foreach (var image in ViewData.Model) { %> <a href="../Galleries/TestGallery1/<%= image.Path %>"><img src="../Galleries/TestGallery1/thumbnail/<%= image.Path %>" alt="<%= image.Caption %>" /></a> <br /><br /><%= image.Caption %><br /><br /><br /> <% } %> Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Let me know of any questions you have as well. :) Thanks!

  • Getting empty update rectangle in OnPaint after calling InvalidateRect on a layered window

    - by Shawn
    I'm trying to figure out why I've been getting an empty update rectangle when I call InvalidateRect on a transparent window. The idea is that I've drawn something on the window (it gets temporarily switched to have an alpha of 1/255 for the drawing), and then I switch it to full transparent mode (i.e. alpha of 0) in order to interact with the desktop & to be able to move the drawing around the screen on top of the desktop. When I try to move the drawing, I get its bounding rectangle & use it to call InvalidateRect, as such: InvalidateRect(m_hTarget, &winRect, FALSE); I've confirmed that the winRect is indeed correct, and that m_hTarget is the correct window & that its rectangle fully encompasses winRect. I get into the OnPaint handler in the class corresponding to m_hTarget, which is derived from a CWnd. In there, I create a CPaintDC, but when I try to access the update rectangle (dcPaint.m_ps.rcPaint) it's always empty. This rectangle gets passed to a function that determines if we need to update the screen (by using UpdateLayeredWindow in the case of a transparent window). If I hard-code a non-empty rectangle in here, the remaining code works correctly & I am able to move the drawing around the screen. I tried changing the 'FALSE' parameter to 'TRUE' in InvalidateRect, with no effect. I also tried using a standard CDC, and then using BeginPaint/EndPaint method in my OnPaint handler, just to ensure that CPaintDC wasn't doing something odd ... but I got the same results. The code that I'm using was originally designed for opaque windows. If m_hTarget corresponds to an opaque window, the same set of function calls results in the correct (i.e. non-empty) rectangle being passed to OnPaint. Once the window is layered, though, it doesn't seem to work right.

  • Resize my image on upload not working - what must my buffer be?

    - by Etienne
    This is the code i got from This Link I want the user to upload a picture and then resize it............. Public Sub ResizeFromStream(ByVal ImageSavePath As String, ByVal MaxSideSize As Integer, ByVal Buffer As System.IO.Stream) Dim intNewWidth As Integer Dim intNewHeight As Integer Dim imgInput As System.Drawing.Image = System.Drawing.Image.FromStream(Buffer) 'Determine image format Dim fmtImageFormat As ImageFormat = imgInput.RawFormat 'get image original width and height Dim intOldWidth As Integer = imgInput.Width Dim intOldHeight As Integer = imgInput.Height 'determine if landscape or portrait Dim intMaxSide As Integer If (intOldWidth >= intOldHeight) Then intMaxSide = intOldWidth Else intMaxSide = intOldHeight End If If (intMaxSide > MaxSideSize) Then 'set new width and height Dim dblCoef As Double = MaxSideSize / CDbl(intMaxSide) intNewWidth = Convert.ToInt32(dblCoef * intOldWidth) intNewHeight = Convert.ToInt32(dblCoef * intOldHeight) Else intNewWidth = intOldWidth intNewHeight = intOldHeight End If 'create new bitmap Dim bmpResized As Drawing.Bitmap = New Drawing.Bitmap(imgInput, intNewWidth, intNewHeight) 'save bitmap to disk bmpResized.Save(ImageSavePath, fmtImageFormat) 'release used resources imgInput.Dispose() bmpResized.Dispose() Buffer.Close() End Sub Now when i click on my submit button it must execute my code but i am not sure what the input must be for the Buffer field? Protected Sub btnUpload_Click() Handles btnUpload.Click ResizeFromStream("~Pics", 200, ??????????) End Sub Thanks in advanced! Edit I need to get my Image from the File Upload control!

  • own drawImage / drawLine in OpenGL

    - by Chrise
    I'm implementing some native 2D-draw functions in my graphics engine for android, but now there's another question coming up, when I observe the performance of my program. At the moment I'm implementing a drawLine/drawImage function. In summary, there are following different values for drawing each different line / image: the color the alpha value the width of the line rotation (only for images) size/scale (also for images) blending method (subrtract, add, normal-alpha) Now, when an imageLine is drawn, I put the CPU-calculated vertex-positions and uv-values for 6 vertices (2 triangles), into a Floatbuffer and draw it immediately with drawArrays, after passing information for drawing (color,alpha, etc.) via uniforms to the shader. When I draw an image, the pre-set VBO is directly drawn after passing information. The first fact I recognized, is: of course drawing Images is much faster, than imagelines (beacuse of VBOs), but also: I cannot pre-put vertex-data into a VBO for imageLines, because imageLines have no static shape like normal images (varying linelength, varying linewidth and the vertex positions of x1,y1 and x2,y2 change too often) That's why I use a normal Floatbuffer, instead of a VBO. So my question is: What's the best way for managing images, and other 2D-graphics functions. For me it's some kind of important, that the user of the engine is able to draw as many images/2D graphics as possible, without loosing to much performance. You can find the functions for drawing images, imagelines, rects, quads, etc. here: https://github.com/Chrise55/LLama3D/blob/master/Llama3DLibrary/src/com/llama3d/object/graphics/image/ImageBase.java Here an example how it looks with many images (testing artificial neural networks), it works fine, but already little bit slow with that many images... :(

  • RichTextBox text is not shown C#

    - by user271077
    using richtextbox control programatically i'm appending text to the richtextbox . richTextBox1.AppendText("hello"); somehow the text appears in the richTextBox1.Text but is not shown in the form. any idea of what might be the problem? (I checked the forecolor seems ok). Thanks in advance Edit: found the root cause (had by mistake the initializeComponent() twice. ) private void InitializeComponent() { this.richTextBox1 = new System.Windows.Forms.RichTextBox(); this.SuspendLayout(); // // richTextBox1 // this.richTextBox1.Location = new System.Drawing.Point(114, 104); this.richTextBox1.Name = "richTextBox1"; this.richTextBox1.Size = new System.Drawing.Size(100, 96); this.richTextBox1.TabIndex = 0; this.richTextBox1.Text = ""; // // Form1 // this.AutoScaleDimensions = new System.Drawing.SizeF(6F, 13F); this.AutoScaleMode = System.Windows.Forms.AutoScaleMode.Font; this.ClientSize = new System.Drawing.Size(284, 262); this.Controls.Add(this.richTextBox1); this.Name = "Form1"; this.Text = "Form1"; this.Load += new System.EventHandler(this.Form1_Load); this.ResumeLayout(false); } public Form1() { InitializeComponent(); InitializeComponent(); } private void Form1_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { richTextBox1.AppendText("hello world"); }` but still curious about why did this cause this weird behavior?

  • How to copy-paste in good quality from Adobe Illustrator to MS One Note?

    - by Suzan Cioc
    When I copy some drawing in Illustrator, it stores it in clipboard in 3 formats: bitmap, device independent bitmap and enhanced meta-file. If drawing contains text, then meta-file version has no anti-aliasing. Below are examples in MS Word OneNote has no "Paste Special" so it always paste in EMF. Is it possible either to tell OneNote to paste not in EMF, or tell Illustrator to use anti-aliasing while storing picture with letters?

  • Page layout software that allows mixed visual and programatic editing

    - by Justin Love
    I'd like to use a programming model for custom graphics and precision placement, and an interactive visual mode for large scale layout and less precise placements. I've used tools (PostScript, various vector drawing programs) that do one of these modes well, but leave me pining for the other model. Which tools should I be investigating? I'm currently on OS X. Examples: Creating diagrams with precise spacing, sets of cards, either likely drawing from some sort of data.

  • Is there a good way to convert between BitmapSource and Bitmap?

    - by JohannesH
    As far as I can tell the only way to convert from BitmapSource to Bitmap is through unsafe code... Like this (from Lesters WPF blog): myBitmapSource.CopyPixels(bits, stride, 0); unsafe { fixed (byte* pBits = bits) { IntPtr ptr = new IntPtr(pBits); System.Drawing.Bitmap bitmap = new System.Drawing.Bitmap( width, height, stride, System.Drawing.Imaging.PixelFormat.Format32bppPArgb,ptr); return bitmap; } } To do the reverse: System.Windows.Media.Imaging.BitmapSource bitmapSource = System.Windows.Interop.Imaging.CreateBitmapSourceFromHBitmap( bitmap.GetHbitmap(), IntPtr.Zero, Int32Rect.Empty, System.Windows.Media.Imaging.BitmapSizeOptions.FromEmptyOptions()); Is there an easier way in the framework? And what is the reason it isn't in there (if it's not)? I would think it's fairly usable. The reason I need it is because I use AForge to do certain image operations in an WPF app. WPF wants to show BitmapSource/ImageSource but AForge works on Bitmaps.

  • How to export pdf page as a image using pdfsharp .net library ?

    - by vi.su.
    How to export a pdf page as an image using pdfsharp .net library, for pixel level manipulation ? for example, something like, System.Drawing.BitMap.GetPixel() I am trying to find out empty area (all white, or of any colour) inside a pdf document, to write some graphics / image. 09, June 2010: I have tried this, but it is not working. why the following code is not working as expected ? Bitmap.GetPixel always returns 0. // // PdfSharp.Pdf.PdfDocument // PdfSharp.Pdf.PdfPage // PdfSharp.Drawing.XGraphics // System.Drawing.Bitmap // string srcPDF = @"C:\hcr\test\tmp\file1.pdf"; PdfDocument pdfd = PdfReader.Open(srcPDF); XGraphics xgfx = XGraphics.FromPdfPage(pdfd.Pages[0]); Bitmap b = new Bitmap((int) pdfp.Width.Point, (int) pdfp.Height.Point, xgfx.Graphics); int rgb = b.GetPixel(0, 0).ToArgb();
