  • Which TLD would be suited to a personal site?

    I'm planning what is essentially a "business card" website for myself, and have been looking at domains. My primary site (a .com) is for my blog and portfolio and the like, but I want a separate site for basic information, contact, networks, and the like. In this light, there are a few TLDs that seem to be suitable: .info, .me, and .name. I'd appreciate remarks on the differences between these options, and suggestion on which would be suitable for my need.

Integrated capture is unique in the industry and unique to the Oracle database. It is not available on any other database platform. This new feature moves GoldenGate’s capture capabilities closer to the Oracle Database engine and is the foundation for Oracle GoldenGate on the Oracle Database platform over the long term. It is important to note that Integrated Capture does not replace our classic Capture process. Both are available on the Oracle Database platform. The Integrated Capture mechanism relies on Oracle’s internal log parsing and processing to capture DML transactions. By moving closer to the Oracle Database engine, Oracle GoldenGate can take advantage of new Oracle Database features and functionality more quickly. For example, this new mechanism allows GoldenGate to support advanced features such as compression. Integrated Capture provides support for all flavors of Oracle compression, including hybrid columnar compression (EHCC) on Exadata, where as our “Classic” capture would not. Integrated Capture supports two different deployment configurations; On-Source and Downstream. The on-source deployment model is what most customers are familiar with. Oracle GoldenGate is executing on the database server capturing changes in real time. This is the default deployment method. The other option is downstream, where the source database and the Oracle GoldenGate Capture process are on different machines. This method effectively off-loads the processing requirements to a second machine. Customers may choose which option they prefer based on their requirements.   Additional information on Integrated Capture can be found in our documentation and the white paper “Oracle GoldenGate for Oracle”.

    Istanbul NOV 5-9 Wednesday, NOV 7 - It is raining outside and I am sitting in my hotel room (#106) in Istanbul and create my first blog entry. Today this blog was enabled and I am excited to have the ability to share my (first) thoughts with the EMEA JDE Partner Community. I am here in Istanbul because we are currently running the JDEdwards PreSales University Event series. This PreSales University is an established event series which we deliver the fifth time now and the first time in the ECEMEA region. Delegates value the openness and competence from the Product Strategy and Product Development Team from Denver and India. Together with the regional Oracle PreSales team we had very valuable discussions around product features and functions and about the business value of the new delivered applications and tools. Additionally the event provides endless opportunities to exchange ideas with other JD Edwards Partner and the Oracle PreSales Team. With its focus on sharing and learning, best practice, user experience and transforming technologies, delegates will leave this event with an abundance of new ideas and best practices to try for your coming projects and existing customer implementations. A day out of the office gives delegates a chance to gain a new perspective on their business processes. Everybody sees better ways of working just by being immersed in an environment where the focus is on using products more effectively. Apps Track: Highly concentrated participants in Istanbul listening to Jeff Erickson presenting the news about OneView Reporting. Jeff: We believe “The things you said”. The event is organized into two tracks, one for Apps and one for Tech. Everybody was able to learn new features and functions and how to position this products. The focus was on the new Apps release 9.1 and Tools Release 9.1.2 and their Value Propositions. For all topics hands-on exercises has been given to the participants. Even very experienced senior consultants did learn a lot from this event. In total we have 55 people registered and we still have some more content to deliver. By the way: Istanbul is a nice place to be. I already booked my next trip to this beautiful city. In two weeks we deliver the JD Edwards EECIS Executive Forum again in Istanbul. Once again a tough Agenda. I will let you know if I had the ability to have a walk outside and see a bit more of this beautiful city. At least I expect to have a different room number.   • OSB 11g & SAP – Single Channel/Program ID for Multiple IDOCs

    Background This note is a supplement to the blog entry, SOA 11g & SAP – Single Channel/Program ID for Multiple IDOCs by Greg Mally. Greg has shown how a single SOA Suite composite can be used with iWay Adapters to receive multiple IDOC types via a single channel in the adapter, corresponding to a single programID on the SAP system. We will try to address the same requirements within the OSB framework here. Project Built - Design Time The basic build of an OSB project with iWay SAP Adapter, as seen in another entry in this blog, consists of working in OSB Design console and Application Explorer. OSB Design Time - Part 1 We will create a placeholder project first in OSB with a proper directory structure, so that we can export the WSDL, XSD and the JCA binding information from Application Explorer directly into this project. Application Explorer - iWay Design Time Tool Receiving IDOCs is classified as an inbound event within Application Explorer. For setting up events, a channel is first defined (e.g. iDoc_Channel) using the same PROGRAMID (RFC destination), as defined within SAP for the OSB server. Next, the same channel is used to export the JCA Inbound Event artifacts for the candidate IDOC, e.g. DEBMAS06 directly to the pre-created OSB project. Note that the validation for schema has been turned off. As a result, this will allow the adapter, at runtime, to use a single channel to receive multiple IDOC types from SAP and pass them on to the OSB runtime engine without any validation. In other words, we do not have to repeat the above step for each IDOC type. OSB Design Time - Part 2 Create 2 simple XML based Business Services to write to a file, e.g.  SAP_DEBMAS_File and SAP_MATMAS_File. Next, generate a Proxy Service using the JCA binding file exported from Application Explorer in the previous section. In the generated proxy service, edit the message flow and add a route node. Add a routing table in the route node with the following routing function. fn:local-name-from-QName(fn:node-name($body/*[1])) This function takes advantage of the fact that the XML payload at runtime, after translation by adapter, has the IDOC type as the top element. With the routing function in place, build the routing table to add 2 branches to route the IDOCs to the appropriate Business Service for writing the XML payload to files in separate directories. This completes the build of the OSB project. Testing - Run-Time After deployment and activation, the SAP adapter will wait to receive multiple types of IDOCs sent from the SAP system using a single channel. Upon receipt of the IDOCs, the OSB project will route them appropriately to save the corresponding XML payloads for different IDOC types in different directories.
