  • Delete files from blobstore using file serving URL

    - by Arturo
    In my app (GWT on GAE) we are storing on our database the serving URL that is stored on blobstore. When user selects one of these files and clicks "delete", we need to delete the file from blobstore. This is our code, but it is not deleting the file at all: public void remove(String fileURL) { BlobstoreService blobstoreService = BlobstoreServiceFactory.getBlobstoreService(); String key = getBlobKeyFromURL(box.getImageURL()); BlobKey blobKey = new BlobKey(key); blobstoreService.delete(blobKey); } Where fileURL looks like this: http://lh6.ggpht.com/d5VC0ywISACeJRiC3zkzaZug-tPsaI_LGt93-e_ATGTCwnGLao4yTWjLVppQ And getBlobKeyFromURL() would return what is after the last "/", in this example: d5VC0ywISACeJRiC3zkzaZug-tPsaI_LGt93-e_ATGTCwnGLao4yTWjLVppQ Could you please advice? Thanks

  • Unfailing Javascript Image Preview

    - by Jason
    I have the following code that presents the user with a preview of the image they're trying to upload and works really well in FF: var img = document.createElement('img'); img.src = $('#imageUploader').get(0).files[0].getAsDataURL(); The problem is, getAsDataURL() only works in FF. Is there something similar/a workaround for this kind of functionality in Chrome (specifically)?

  • getComputedStyle text-decoration inherit

    - by Guilherme Nascimento
    getComputedStyle fails to get text-decoration property inherited, but can get font-size. Failed in Firefox 25 and GoogleChrome 30. Note: In Internet Explorer 10 work! <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <style> #parent { font-size: 38px; text-decoration: underline; } </style> <body> <div id="parent"> <p id="child">Test</p> </div> <script> var elem = document.getElementById("child"); document.write("text-decoration:"+window.getComputedStyle(elem).getPropertyValue("text-decoration")); document.write("<br>"); document.write("text-decoration:"+document.defaultView.getComputedStyle(elem).getPropertyValue("text-decoration")); document.write("<hr>"); document.write("font-size:"+window.getComputedStyle(elem).getPropertyValue("font-size")); document.write("<br>"); document.write("font-size:"+document.defaultView.getComputedStyle(elem).getPropertyValue("font-size")); </script> </body> </html> It is a fault of mine, or browsers that failed?

  • Optimizing tasks to reduce CPU in a trading application

    - by Joel
    Hello, I have designed a trading application that handles customers stocks investment portfolio. I am using two datastore kinds: Stocks - Contains unique stock name and its daily percent change. UserTransactions - Contains information regarding a specific purchase of a stock made by a user : the value of the purchase along with a reference to Stock for the current purchase. db.Model python modules: class Stocks (db.Model): stockname = db.StringProperty(multiline=True) dailyPercentChange=db.FloatProperty(default=1.0) class UserTransactions (db.Model): buyer = db.UserProperty() value=db.FloatProperty() stockref = db.ReferenceProperty(Stocks) Once an hour I need to update the database: update the daily percent change in Stocks and then update the value of all entities in UserTransactions that refer to that stock. The following python module iterates over all the stocks, update the dailyPercentChange property, and invoke a task to go over all UserTransactions entities which refer to the stock and update their value: Stocks.py # Iterate over all stocks in datastore for stock in Stocks.all(): # update daily percent change in datastore db.run_in_transaction(updateStockTxn, stock.key()) # create a task to update all user transactions entities referring to this stock taskqueue.add(url='/task', params={'stock_key': str(stock.key(), 'value' : self.request.get ('some_val_for_stock') }) def updateStockTxn(stock_key): #fetch the stock again - necessary to avoid concurrency updates stock = db.get(stock_key) stock.dailyPercentChange= data.get('some_val_for_stock') # I get this value from outside ... some more calculations here ... stock.put() Task.py (/task) # Amount of transaction per task amountPerCall=10 stock=db.get(self.request.get("stock_key")) # Get all user transactions which point to current stock user_transaction_query=stock.usertransactions_set cursor=self.request.get("cursor") if cursor: user_transaction_query.with_cursor(cursor) # Spawn another task if more than 10 transactions are in datastore transactions = user_transaction_query.fetch(amountPerCall) if len(transactions)==amountPerCall: taskqueue.add(url='/task', params={'stock_key': str(stock.key(), 'value' : self.request.get ('some_val_for_stock'), 'cursor': user_transaction_query.cursor() }) # Iterate over all transaction pointing to stock and update their value for transaction in transactions: db.run_in_transaction(updateUserTransactionTxn, transaction.key()) def updateUserTransactionTxn(transaction_key): #fetch the transaction again - necessary to avoid concurrency updates transaction = db.get(transaction_key) transaction.value= transaction.value* self.request.get ('some_val_for_stock') db.put(transaction) The problem: Currently the system works great, but the problem is that it is not scaling well… I have around 100 Stocks with 300 User Transactions, and I run the update every hour. In the dashboard, I see that the task.py takes around 65% of the CPU (Stock.py takes around 20%-30%) and I am using almost all of the 6.5 free CPU hours given to me by app engine. I have no problem to enable billing and pay for additional CPU, but the problem is the scaling of the system… Using 6.5 CPU hours for 100 stocks is very poor. I was wondering, given the requirements of the system as mentioned above, if there is a better and more efficient implementation (or just a small change that can help with the current implemntation) than the one presented here. Thanks!! Joel

  • Implementing tagging in JDO

    - by Julie Paltrow
    I am implementing a tagging system for a website that uses JDO . I would like to use this method. However I am new to relationships in JDO. To keep it simple, what I have looks like this: @PersistentCapable class Post { @Persistent String title; @Persistent String body; } @PersistentCapable class Tag { @Persistent String name; } What kind of JDO relationships do I need and how to implement them? I want to be able to list all Tags that belong to a Post, and also be able to list all Posts that have a given Tag. So in the end I would like to have something like this: Table: Post Columns: PostID, Title, Body Table: Tag Columns: TagID, name Table: PostTag Columns: PostID, TagID

  • Web pages show empty band across the top

    - by Gerry
    In Chrome, site http://www.helpinghandspeople.com has a 16px empty band (background colour shows) across the top of the page. It's not supposed to be there, but I can't figure out how to make it go away. In Firefox, the home page shows fine, but login and a few other pages show a 24px band. Viewing source and running inspect element are not helpful. Does anyone have a suggestion where to look? Thanks Gerry

  • Speeding up templates in GAE-Py by aggregating RPC calls

    - by Sudhir Jonathan
    Here's my problem: class City(Model): name = StringProperty() class Author(Model): name = StringProperty() city = ReferenceProperty(City) class Post(Model): author = ReferenceProperty(Author) content = StringProperty() The code isn't important... its this django template: {% for post in posts %} <div>{{post.content}}</div> <div>by {{post.author.name}} from {{post.author.city.name}}</div> {% endfor %} Now lets say I get the first 100 posts using Post.all().fetch(limit=100), and pass this list to the template - what happens? It makes 200 more datastore gets - 100 to get each author, 100 to get each author's city. This is perfectly understandable, actually, since the post only has a reference to the author, and the author only has a reference to the city. The __get__ accessor on the post.author and author.city objects transparently do a get and pull the data back (See this question). Some ways around this are Use Post.author.get_value_for_datastore(post) to collect the author keys (see the link above), and then do a batch get to get them all - the trouble here is that we need to re-construct a template data object... something which needs extra code and maintenance for each model and handler. Write an accessor, say cached_author, that checks memcache for the author first and returns that - the problem here is that post.cached_author is going to be called 100 times, which could probably mean 100 memcache calls. Hold a static key to object map (and refresh it maybe once in five minutes) if the data doesn't have to be very up to date. The cached_author accessor can then just refer to this map. All these ideas need extra code and maintenance, and they're not very transparent. What if we could do @prefetch def render_template(path, data) template.render(path, data) Turns out we can... hooks and Guido's instrumentation module both prove it. If the @prefetch method wraps a template render by capturing which keys are requested we can (atleast to one level of depth) capture which keys are being requested, return mock objects, and do a batch get on them. This could be repeated for all depth levels, till no new keys are being requested. The final render could intercept the gets and return the objects from a map. This would change a total of 200 gets into 3, transparently and without any extra code. Not to mention greatly cut down the need for memcache and help in situations where memcache can't be used. Trouble is I don't know how to do it (yet). Before I start trying, has anyone else done this? Or does anyone want to help? Or do you see a massive flaw in the plan?

  • HTML5 Video Tag in Chrome - Why is currentTime ignored when video downloaded from my webserver?

    - by larson4
    I want to be able to play back video from a specific time using the HTML5 video tag (and currently only need to worry about Chrome). This is possible by setting the currentTime property of a video element. That works fine in Chrome with a video sourced from html5rocks.com, but is ignored when the same file is loaded from my own local webserver. Using the sample code from http://playground.html5rocks.com/#video_tag, I have arrived at the following HTML: <!DOCTYPE html> <html> <body> <video id="video1" width="320" height="240" volume=".7" controls preload=true autobuffer> <source src="http://playground.html5rocks.com/samples/html5_misc/chrome_japan.webm" type='video/webm; codecs="vp8, vorbis"'/> </video> <input type=button onclick="play()" value="play"> <input type=button onclick="setTime()" value="setTime"> <input type=button onclick="pause()" value="pause"> <script> var play=function() { document.getElementById("video1").play(); } var setTime=function() { document.getElementById("video1").currentTime=2; } var pause=function() { document.getElementById("video1").pause(); } </script> </body> </html> Using Chrome, if you Wait for the video to download for a bit (until the progress bar is about 10% in) Press setTime - you should notice the time jump to 2 seconds press play ...the video will start at 2 seconds in. But if I download the webm file in the source src to my local webserver, and change src to point locally: <source src="chrome_japan.webm" type='video/webm; codecs="vp8, vorbis"'/> ...then setting currentTime is complete ignored. No errors are showing in the developer tools console. Now, my webserver is serving this with mime type "video/webm", but it will be served like any old file -- not streamed. Do I need a webserver that streams in some specific way? What else could be at fault here? Note: The webserver is a proprietary platform and won't have any of the same exact settings or controls one might expect of Tomcat or some other commonly used webserver, though there may be other ways to achieve the same effect.

  • Chrome not sending POST requests on localhost, Firefox works fine

    - by AP257
    I have copied the simple Django forms example exactly, running on localhost. The basic contact form example should submit a POST request when you click the Submit button. I'm running Chrome on Mac Snow Leopard, and whenever I submit the form, the page simply reloads with an empty form: I can see from the runserver output that it's not sending a POST - instead it's sending a GET request. If I open the same page in Firefox on Mac Snow Leopard, and submit the form, I can see it's sending a POST request (as it should be). Looking at the source in Chrome, the form definitely says method="post". <form action="/contact/" method="post"> <p><label for="id_subject">Subject:</label> <input id="id_subject" type="text" name="subject" maxlength="100" /></p> <p><label for="id_message">Message:</label> <input type="text" name="message" id="id_message" /></p> <p><label for="id_sender">Sender:</label> <input type="text" name="sender" id="id_sender" /></p> <p><label for="id_cc_myself">Cc myself:</label> <input type="checkbox" name="cc_myself" id="id_cc_myself" /></p> <input type="submit" value="Submit" /> </form> External sites with POST forms seem to work OK in Chrome. In addition, if I fill the form in incorrectly, in Chrome the page just reloads, with a GET request, as before; in Firefox the form gets validated, as it should. I've tried with other POST forms on localhost and got the same result. I know Chrome for Mac has its quirks, but what on earth is going on?

  • How do I configure multiple Ubuntu Python installations to avoid App Engine's SSL error?

    - by Linc
    I have Karmic Koala which has Python 2.6 installed by default. However I can't run any Python App Engine projects because they require Python 2.5 and python ssl. To install ssl I installed python2.5-dev first while following some instructions I found elsewhere. sudo apt-get install libssl-dev sudo apt-get install python-setuptools sudo apt-get install python2.5-dev sudo easy_install-2.5 pyopenssl However, I am afraid this is not good for my Ubuntu installation since Ubuntu expects to see version 2.6 of Python when you type 'python' on the command line. Instead, it says '2.5.5'. I tried to revert to the original default version of Python by doing this: sudo apt-get remove python2.5-dev But that didn't seem to do anything either - when I type 'python' on the command line it still say 2.5.5. And App Engine still doesn't work after all this. I continue to get an SSL-related error whenever I try to run my Python app: AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute 'HTTPSHandler' UPDATE: Just checked whether SSL actually installed as a result of those commands by typing this: $ python2.5 Python 2.5.5 (r255:77872, Apr 29 2010, 23:59:20) [GCC 4.4.1] on linux2 Type "help", "copyright", "credits" or "license" for more information. >>> import ssl Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in <module> ImportError: No module named ssl >>> As you can see, SSL is still not installed, which explains the continuing App Engine error. If anyone knows how I can dig myself out of this hole, I would appreciate it.

  • Rotate MapView in Android

    - by Matthew B.
    I am writing an Android app where one of the features is that the map will rotate according to the compass (i.e. if the phone is pointing east, the map will be oriented so that the east side of the map is on top). Previous answers that I have found suggested over writing the onDraw() method in mapView, however, the api changed the method to final so it cannot be overwritten. As a result I have tried to overwrite the dispatchDraw() method like so: Note: -compass is a boolean that if true, rotate the view -bearing is a float variable that has the degrees that the view should rotate protected void dispatchDraw(Canvas canvas) { canvas.save(); if (compass) { final float w = this.getWidth(); final float h = this.getHeight(); final float scaleFactor = (float)(Math.sqrt(h * h + w * w) / Math.min(w, h)); final float centerX = w / 2.0f; final float centerY = h / 2.0f; canvas.rotate(bearing, centerX, centerY); canvas.scale(scaleFactor, scaleFactor, centerX, centerY); } super.dispatchDraw(canvas); canvas.restore(); }

  • ExtJS 4 Chart Axis Display Issue in Chrome

    - by SerEnder
    I've run into an issue while using ExtJS 4.0.7. I'm trying to display a chart with two series on a Numeric/Category Chart. The chart displays correctly in Firefox, but while using Chrome (18.0.1025.142) the x axis labels are either all stacked upon each or else (when using rotate) rendered behind the chart in the specified angle. Any ideas would be appreciated. Screen shot in Firefox: Screen Shot in Chrome: And the code that's used to generate both: Ext.require(['Ext.chart.*']); Ext.onReady(function() { var iChartWidth = 800; // Defines chart width var iChartHeight = 550; // Defines chart height Ext.define('RulesCreatedModel',{ extend:'Ext.data.Model', fields:[ {name:'sHourName', type:'string'}, {name:'User_2', type:'number'}, {name:'User_1', type:'number'}, ] }); var RulesCreatedStore = Ext.create('Ext.data.Store',{ id:'RulesCreatedStore', model:'RulesCreateModel', fields: [ 'sHourName','dayNum','hour','User_2','User_1'], data:[{ 'sHourName':'3pm', 'User_1':82, 'User_2':56 },{ 'sHourName':'4pm', 'User_1':39, 'User_2':44 },{ 'sHourName':'5pm', 'User_1':80, 'User_2':14 },{ 'sHourName':'6pm', 'User_1':55, 'User_2':0, },{ 'sHourName':'7pm', 'User_1':36, 'User_2':0, },{ 'sHourName':'8pm', 'User_1':66, 'User_2':0 },{ 'sHourName':'9pm', 'User_1':39, 'User_2':0, },{ 'sHourName':'10pm', 'User_1':0, 'User_2':0 },{ 'sHourName':'11pm', 'User_1':0, 'User_2':0 },{ 'sHourName':'12am', 'User_1':0, 'User_2':0 },{ 'sHourName':'1am', 'User_1':0, 'User_2':0 },{ 'sHourName':'2am', 'User_1':0, 'User_2':0 },{ 'sHourName':'3am', 'User_1':0, 'User_2':0 },{ 'sHourName':'4am', 'User_1':0, 'User_2':0 },{ 'sHourName':'5am', 'User_1':0, 'User_2':0 },{ 'sHourName':'6am', 'User_1':0, 'User_2':0 },{ 'sHourName':'7am', 'User_1':0, 'User_2':1 },{ 'sHourName':'8am', 'User_1':0, 'User_2':99 },{ 'sHourName':'9am', 'User_1':0, 'User_2':28 },{ 'sHourName':'10am', 'User_1':0, 'User_2':28 },{ 'sHourName':'11am', 'User_1':0, 'User_2':153 },{ 'sHourName':'12pm', 'User_1':0, 'User_2':58 },{ 'sHourName':'1pm', 'User_1':0, 'User_2':42 },{ 'sHourName':'2pm', 'User_1':20, 'User_2':10 }] }); Ext.create('Ext.chart.Chart',{ id: 'RulesWrittenChart', renderTo: 'StatCharts_Display', width: iChartWidth, height: iChartHeight, animate: true, store: RulesCreatedStore, axes: [{ type: 'Numeric', position: 'left', fields: ['User_2','User_1'], title: 'Rules Written', grid: true },{ type: 'Category', position: 'bottom', fields: ['sHourName'], title: 'Hour', grid: false, label: { rotate: { degrees: 315 } } }], series: [{ type: 'line', axis: 'left', xField: 'sHourName', yField: 'User_2', highlight: { size: 3, radius: 3 } },{ type: 'line', axis: 'left', xField: 'sHourName', yField: 'User_1', highlight: { size: 3, radius: 3 } }] }); });

  • Android map overly transparency has unwanted gradient

    - by DavidP2190
    I'm a making my first android app and for part of it I need some shaded areas over a mapview. I've got this working so far but the when I set the alpha of the fill colour, it goes strange. I'm not allowed to post images yet, but you can see what happens here: http://i.imgur.com/leXmc.png I'm not sure what causes it, but here is some code from where it gets drawn. public boolean draw(Canvas canvas, MapView mapView, boolean shadow, long when) { Paint paint = new Paint(); paint.setStrokeWidth(2); paint.setColor(android.graphics.Color.GREEN); paint.setStyle(Paint.Style.FILL_AND_STROKE); paint.setAlpha(25); screenPoints = new Point[10]; Path path = new Path(); for (int x = 0; x<greenZone.length; x++){ screenPoints[x] = new Point(); mapView.getProjection().toPixels(greenZone[x], screenPoints[x]); } path.moveTo(screenPoints[0].x, screenPoints[0].y); for (int x = 1; x < screenPoints.length-1; x++){ paint.setAlpha(25); if (x<9){ path.lineTo(screenPoints[x].x, screenPoints[x].y); canvas.drawPath(path, paint); } else{ path.moveTo(screenPoints[screenPoints.length-1].x, screenPoints[screenPoints.length-1].y); path.lineTo(screenPoints[0].x, screenPoints[0].y); canvas.drawPath(path, paint); } } return true; } Thanks.
