Hi,
I'd like to write an app-store-approvable app for the iPhone OS which uses libffi. Is this allowed? I am capable of rewriting all of the parts that use it with things like NSInvocation without too much trouble, but would prefer libffi. So my question is: would apps that use libffi be accepted to the app store?
Is there a way to view rss feeds as formatted xml that doesn't involve messing with my browser's installation or writing my own tool?

Hi - we are thinking of using SharePoint to host a web app for which we will allow internal staff and licensed external customers to access a website built on SharePoint. I am thinking that for each authenticated user (logged in) we would need an OS CAL & a SharePoint CAL & we would need a processor license for SQL Server - Is this correct & what about non-authemticatedc website "browsers"?
Any advice much appreciated.
Hello, I have a os commerce site with a ssl installed but when you go to it does not redirect you to https://www.microcomputerctr.com

I know you can't use GC in iPhone applications cause iPhone does not have enough resources to enable that - it would kill the performence.
What about iPad. I know they run iPhone OS too, does that mean that CG can't be enabled on the iPad as well?
I am looking for a step-by-step Mercurial guide for iPhone projects. Please assume:
hg already installed
the audience is comfortable with command line operations
everything is on OS X
As a newbie, I am particular interested in:
what files should be excluded
how to exclude above files
guideline/suggestion of naming builds
any relevant experience to share with
Please do not discuss how hg is better/worse than any other SCS. This is a how-to question, not a why question.
Thanks!
Hi all!
If you are on Mac OS X 10.6, and you are familiar with character encoding AND the terminal please do this:
Open a terminal and type the following commands:
echo sørensen test.txt
iconv -f UTF8 -t ISO-8859-1 test.txt
You will see the output: "sørensen". Can somebody explain what is going on?

Hi,
I'm attempting to find the euclidean distance in meters between two points on an MKMapView using iPhone OS 3.2. The problem is that I have these coordinates in terms of latitude and longitude, which, mathematically provides me enough data to find the distance, but it's going to take some tricky trigonometry. Is there any simpler solution?
Thanks!
Hi all,
I followed this tutorial to make my first app:
http://icodeblog.com/2009/12/21/introduction-to-mapkit-in-iphone-os-3-0/
I would really like to know how to sort the annotations in the Table in order of distance to the user (the nearest annotation is the first one on the table) How is it possible to do that?
I understand that I must use the CLLocation to find the user's location but then I have no idea.
Could any one help me?
Cheers,
Thank you in advance for your much appreciated help,

On OS X I use this command to convert a sound file to CAFF for iPhone.
afconvert -f caff -d LEI16@44100 file.wav file.caf
I need to do the same on a Windows box.
Any clues?
I'd even settle for a Linux version.
Anyone know the OS requirements for this? The actual System Requirements mention Windows 7 but after spending the time installing and configuring and finally get it up and running, went to the Testing Center and I get this message.
"The Test Management features are not supported on Windows Home Premium."
I now have to upgrade my Windows but I want to be sure what version is required
If I have several OS-X Terminal.app windows open, how can I move one Terminal window to another space?
I'm happy to use any scripting or programming language to achieve this, but would prefer AppleScript or calls to standard frameworks.
(Note this is to move only one window of an application not all windows.)
I have created a windows application setup program, it needs to have a text file in the application folder. The file is also included while creating the setup.
Once the setup successfully completes and my program tries to modify the file based on user input, its simple throwing an exception.
I am using Windows 7 Home Premium OS.
Any suggestion/help will be great to overcome this issue.
I have a Rsync program Deltacopy with an executable as client and server but would like to replace this if possible with a pure Ruby implementation of Rsync. I found gems like six-rsync and rsync-update but they seem to be no general implementations. I'm looking for a pure Ruby solution, so no executables involved and preferably runnable on multiple OS.
If possible a simple sample would be great.
I only look for Rsync, no other transfer or backup solutions please.
Does anyone knows if it is possible to have more than 16 desktop "spaces" with Mac OS X Snow Leopard?
I know that it does not seem possible at all from the System Preferences settings, but I was wondering if there exists some software tools that would enable one to use more Spaces, say 20-25.
Thanks for the help.

While coding should we consider some limit on the total size of variables created on the stack? If yes, on what basis should we decide it? Is it dependent on OS, Memory Availability etc? Are there any compiler options which can check this?
Any pointers in the direction will also be helpful.
If i were to calculate the iPad's amount of RAM based on just the one fact that my iPad App got rejected due to memory warnings twice, and me fixing it, would this violate the developer NDA?
Obviously i know how much memory my App uses, how much the iPhone OS is likely to use and estimate the amount reserved for video memory, then i can deduct from that that the iPad has xxx MB of memory. I just wonder if i can say that number publicly without violating any NDA?
Suppose I have the following structure:
app/
__init__.py
foo/
a.py
b.py
c.py
__init__.py
a.py, b.py and c.py share some common imports (logging, os, re, etc). Is it possible to import these three or four common modules from the __init__.py file so I don't have to import them in every one of the files?
Edit: My goal is to avoid having to import 5-6 modules in each file and it's not related to performance reasons.
I would like to cross compile an ansi c program from linux for a the barest bare boned operating system that can read a single file and write to a single file on an x86. Then I would like to reboot into that bare os, and run that single program. What are my choices ?
Can anyone tell me that do scaleinto function will work on actual device having older os that 5.0. Bleow is the code.
public static Bitmap resizeImage(Bitmap originalImage, int newWidth, int newHeight) {
Bitmap newImage = new Bitmap(newWidth, newHeight);
originalImage.scaleInto(newImage, Bitmap.FILTER_BILINEAR, Bitmap.SCALE_TO_FILL);
return newImage;
}
