• VS 2010 SQL Update for SQL Statement

  Please bear with me as I'm just beginning to learn this stuff. I have a VS 2010 Web project up and I'm trying to understand how I can make a custom UpdateCommand (Because I chose to write my own SQL statement, I do not have the option for VS 2010 to auto generate an update command for me.) Problem is: I don't know what the UpdateCommand should look like. • ActionScripting Issue: adding/removing children

  I have three movie clips all linked to the stage and I want them to behave like a button/ But I am not using a button because I have not found a way to have each part (up, over, down, hit) be animated and not just change when the mouse is in use with it. So far I have been able to have all three appear on my stage and show when I have the mouse over and as well when I click, but I think I'm doing something wrong with removeChild. Each MC should appear one at a time and now all three show up when I hover over and seem to "flash".   I have page with products. When adding a product to the shopping cart a modal window is fired up for confirmation - this can take up to 2 seconds. I want to show another modal window just before the confirmation modal to show "loading..." my problem is that I don't know how to close the "loading..." modal.   I'm studying ASP.NET MVC and I use LINQ to SQL for model. I have a table named "Note" with the fields "Title" and "Content". The "Content" field can contain thousand characters. What I want to do is to display the LIST of notes in a page. I use table with two columns, for "Title" and SUBSTRING of the "Content" (50 characters). My problem is, I don't know how to edit the model so that it will display only the substring of the "Content". Thanks in advance!

• Get parameter values from method at run time

  I have the current method example: public void MethodName(string param1,int param2) { object[] obj = new object[] { (object) param1, (object) param2 }; //Code to that uses this array to invoke dynamic methods } Is there a dynamic way (I am guessing using reflection) that will get the current executing method parameter values and place them in a object array? I have read that you can get parameter information using MethodBase and MethodInfo but those only have information about the parameter and not the value it self which is what I need. So for example if I pass "test" and 1 as method parameters without coding for the specific parameters can I get a object array with two indexes { "test", 1 }? I would really like to not have to use a third party API, but if it has source code for that API then I will accept that as an answer as long as its not a huge API and there is no simple way to do it without this API. I am sure there must be a way, maybe using the stack, who knows. You guys are the experts and that is why I come here. Thank you in advance, I can't wait to see how this is done. EDIT It may not be clear so here some extra information. This code example is just that, an example to show what I want. It would be to bloated and big to show the actual code where it is needed but the question is how to get the array without manually creating one. I need to some how get the values and place them in a array without coding the specific parameters.

• How to make html-files with content to be used in a simple ajax site to behave nicely in google?

  I made some ajax sites in the past where I used ajax to get more of a desktop application feeling for my sites and also to keep the site maintainable. My strategy was making one index page and from there pulling in html content from some subpages. (So far I didn't use ajax to send data to the server.) The problem that I ran into is this: I want the subpages to be readable by google since they contain valuable content but once they show up in google's results they lead to the naked html-file (no css nor Javascript). I solved this by putting a javascript redirect (window.location = ...) on the subpages so they lead to the correct page. So as an example let's say I have a site at example.com with some javascript and css and a naked content page that should be loaded via ajax: example.com/content.html. Via ajax I pull in what I need from the content file but since my index.html contains href's to the content.html file (I want the content of my ajax site to be readable without Javascript) it will be indexed by google and gets listed in the search results. But I don't want people to see the naked html file. Hence the redirect that goes to the index page and gets handled by some Javascript to show the content as I want it to be showed. I was wondering if there are nicer solutions to this problem or different approaches.

• Iterating through a range of dates in Python

  This is working fine, but I'm looking for any feedback on how to do it better. Right now I think it's better than nested loops, but it starts to get Perl-one-linerish when you have a generator in a list comprehension. Any suggestions are welcome. day_count = (end_date - start_date).days + 1 for single_date in [d for d in (start_date + timedelta(n) for n in range(day_count)) if d <= end_date]: print strftime("%Y-%m-%d", single_date.timetuple()) Notes: I'm not actually using this to print; that's just for demo purposes. • In Android, does _id have to be present in any table created?

  I am trying to create a table to only has a foreign key, not a primary key. I am getting this error: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: column '_id' does not exist I read a tutorial that the primary key must be _id, with no explanation. And that is fine. But what if I do not want a primary key! What if I only want a foreign key. I am assuming this is where my problem lies. The schemas below are what I have. • C++ - Totally suspend windows application

  Hello! I am developing a simple WinAPI application and started from writing my own assertion system. I have a macro defined like ASSERT(X) which would make pretty the same thing as assert(X) does, but with more information, more options and etc. At some moment (when that assertion system was already running and working) I realized there is a problem. Suppose I wrote a code that does some action using a timer and (just a simple example) this action is done while handling WM_TIMER message. And now, the situation changes the way that this code starts throwing an assert. This assert message would be shown every TIMER_RESOLUTION milliseconds and would simply flood the screen. Options for solving this situation could be: 1) Totally pause application running (probably also, suspend all threads) when the assertion messagebox is shown and continue running after it is closed 2) Make a static counter for the shown asserts and don't show asserts when one of them is already showing (but this doesn't pause application) 3) Group similiar asserts and show only one for each assert type (but this also doesn't pause application) 4) Modify the application code (for example, Get / Translate / Dispatch message loop) so that it suspends itself when there are any asserts. This is good, but not universal and looks like a hack. To my mind, option number 1 is the best. But I don't know any way how this can be achieved. What I'm seeking for is a way to pause the runtime (something similiar to Pause button in the debugger). Does somebody know how to achieve this? Also, if somebody knows an efficient way to handle this problem - I would appreciate your help. Thank you.

  I have a stored procedure on a busy database which constantly come out top in the list of expensive queries (by some way). The query is very simple, it takes a single parameter (@ID, int) which is the primary key of the table, and selects the record that matches that ID. The primary key is an identity field with a clustered index, so I am stumped as to how to optimise this any further? • Core Data to-many relationship in code

  I have three entities: Session, User and Test. A session has 0-many users and a user can perform 0-6 tests. (I say 0 but in the real application always at least 1 is required, at least 1 user for a session and at least 1 test for a user. But I say 0 to express an empty start.) All entities have their own specific data attributes too. A user has a name, A session has a name, a test has six values to be filled in by the user, and so on. But my issue is with the relationships. How do I set multiple users and have them added to one session (same goes for multiple tests for one user). How do I show the content in a right way? How do I show a session that has multiple users and these users having completed multiple tests? • Mathematica quickie: About making cells Input cells by default.

  I'm going through some lecture notes, Fundamentals of Mathematica Programming (see the .nb file there). I'd like to be able to do the exercises right there in the notebook; but for some reason I can't figure out how to make the default cell an Input cell. In other words, when I'm clicking in that notebook to create a new cell--in the exercises--the cell is by default a text cell. I'd like for it to be an Input cell so that I don't have to manually change it each time. Ideas?

• Addiing captions above images in wordpress

  So I added some code in my css and there are boxes that appear over every image that is attached to a post. I've wanted to number the images and show the image number in the box(1...n). I have this in my functions.php function count_images(){ global $post; $thePostID = $post-ID; $parameters = array( 'post_type' = 'attachment', 'post_parent' = $thePostID, 'post_mime_type' = 'image'); $attachments = get_children($parameters); $content = count($attachments); return $content; } add_filter('the_content','count_images'); function caption_image_callback($matches) { $c = count_images(); for ($i=1; $i <= $c; $i++) { if (is_single()) { return ''.$i.' '; } else { return ''; } } } function caption_image($post_body_content) { $post_body_content = preg_replace_callback("||","caption_image_callback",$post_body_content); return $post_body_content; } if ( current_user_can('edit_plugins') ) { add_filter('the_content', 'caption_image'); } If I run only count_images it will show the correct number of attached images to a post(let's say 15). But for some reason the number that is shown in the boxes over the images is always 1. I've seen this done on several blogs with just php so there has to be a way(even if I have to change my whole code). PS: I had to leave spaces in some places
