• Use XSLT to arrange a list of items in a table

  I have a linear list of items which I wish to arrange in a table using XSLT. I wish to specify the number of columns as a parameter. For example, if I have a list of 12 items, I can select a 2x6, 3x4, 4x3 or 6x2 table. I cannot see a general way to do this. I have seen this article: http://www.nedcomp.nl/support/origdocs/xml4/extracted/xpath_hdi_1_4llx.aspx It tells you how to generate a table with a specific number of columns, but does not allow a general case. (Ideally there would be a loop for the xsl:value-of lines). Thanks Mark

• A shortest path problem with superheroes and intergalactic journeys

  You are a super-hero in the year 2222 and you are faced with this great challenge: starting from your home planet Ilop you must try to reach Acinhet or else your planet will be destroyed by evil green little monsters. To do this you are given a map of the universe: there are N planets and M inter-planetary connections ( bidirectional ) that bind these planets. Each connection requires a certain time and a certain amount of fuel in order for you to cover the connection from one planet to another. The total time spent going from one planet to another is obtained by multiplying the time past to cover each connection between all the planets you go through. There are some "key planets", that allow you to refuel if you arrive on those certain "key planets". A "key planet" is the planet with the property that if it disappears the road between at least two planets would be lost.(In the example posted below with the input/output files such a "key planet" is 2 because without it the road to 7 would be lost) When you start your mission you are given the possibility of choosing between K ships each with its own maximum fuel capacity. The goal is to find the SHORTEST TIME CONSUMING path but also choose the ship with the minimum fuel capacity that can cover that shortest path(this means that if more ships can cover the shortest path you choose the one with the minimum fuel capacity). Because the minimum time can be a rather large number (over long long int) you are asked to provide only the last 6 digits of the number. For a better understanding of the task, here is an example of input/output files: INPUT: mission.in 7 8 6 1 4 6 5 9 8 7 10 1 2 7 8 1 4 14 9 1 5 3 1 2 3 1 2 2 7 7 1 3 4 2 2 4 6 4 1 5 6 3 7 On the first line (in order): N M K On the second line :the number for the starting planet and the finishing planet On the third line :K numbers that represent the capacities of the ships you can choose from Then you have M lines, all of them have the same structure: Xi Yi Ti Fi-which means that there is a connection between Xi and Yi and you can cover the distance from Xi to Yi in Ti time and with a Fi fuel consumption.   I'm porting a library from char to TCHAR. the count parameter of this fragment, according to MSDN, is the number of multibyte characters, not the number of bytes. so, did I get this right? _tcsncmp(access, TEXT("ftp"), 3); //or do i want _tcsnccmp? "Supported on Windows platforms only, _mbsncmp and _mbsnbcmp are multibyte versions of strncmp. _mbsncmp will compare at most count multibyte characters and _mbsnbcmp will compare at most count bytes. They both use the current multibyte code page. _tcsnccmp and _tcsncmp are the corresponding Generic functions for _mbsncmp and _mbsnbcmp, respectively. _tccmp is equivalent to _tcsnccmp."

• Using Delphi or FFMpeg to create a movie from image sequence

  Hi all My Delphi app has created a squence called frame_001.png to frame_100.png. I need that to be compiled into a movie clip. I think perhaps the easiest is to call ffmpeg from the command line, according to their documentation: For creating a video from many images: ffmpeg -f image2 -i foo-%03d.jpeg -r 12 -s WxH foo.avi The syntax foo-%03d.jpeg specifies to use a decimal number composed of three digits padded with zeroes to express the sequence number. It is the same syntax supported by the C printf function, but only formats accepting a normal integer are suitable. From: http://ffmpeg.org/ffmpeg-doc.html#SEC5 However my files are (lossless) png format, so I have to convert using imagemagick first. My command line is now: ffmpeg.exe -f image2 -i c:\temp\wentelreader\frame_%05d.jpg -r 12 foo.avi But then I get the error: [image2 @ 0x133a7d0]Could not find codec parameters (Video: mjpeg) c:\temp\wentelreader\Frame_C:\VID2EVA\Tools\Mencoder\wentel.bat5d.jpg: could not find codec parameters What am I doing wrong? Alternatively can this be done easily with Delphi?

• An efficient code to determine if a set is a subset of another set

  I am looking for an efficient way to determine if a set is a subset of another set in Matlab or Mathematica. Example: Set A = [1 2 3 4] Set B = [4 3] Set C = [3 4 1] Set D = [4 3 2 1] The output should be: Set A Sets B and C belong to set A because A contains all of their elements, therefore, they can be deleted (the order of elements in a set doesn't matter). Set D has the same elements as set A and since set A precedes set D, I would like to simply keep set A and delete set D. So there are two essential rules: 1. Delete a set if it is a subset of another set 2. Delete a set if its elements are the same as those of a preceding set My Matlab code is not very efficient at doing this - it mostly consists of nested loops. Suggestions are very welcome! Additional explanation: the issue is that with a large number of sets there will be a very large number of pairwise comparisons.

• RESTful web services - best way to return result of an operation?

  I am designing a RESTful API and I would like to know what the most RESTful way is to return details about an operation. E.g. an operation on a resource occurs when some data is POSTed to a URL. HTTP status codes will indicate either success or failure for the operation. But apart from success/failure I need to indicate some other info to the client, such as an ID number. So my question is, should the ID number be returned in an XML document in the response content, or should it be returned in some custom HTTP header fields? Which is more in line with the principles of REST? Or am I free to choose.

  I have a part's list built out in XML and each part is labeled as such: <division> <parts> <part number="123456 " drawing="123456 " cad="y"> <attribute> <header>Header</header> <list>2</list> </attribute> </part> And I need to get the data behind the number and drawing attributes without the white space. I tried xsl:strip-space on the specific elements, and across the board, but that only strips the content in between the tags. I unfortunately have no access to the back-end that's producing the XML, so removing the spaces there doesn't look like an option.

• Performance monitor shows 4294967293 sessions active

  I have an ASP.Net 3.5 website running in IIS 6 on Windows Server 2003 R2. It is a relatively small internal application that probably serves less than ten users at any given time. The server has 4 Gig of memory and shows that 3+ Gig is available while the site is active. Just minutes after restarting the web application Performance monitor shows that there is a whopping 4,294,967,293 sessions active! I am fairly certain that this number is incorrect; at the time this reading there were only 100 requests to the website. Has anyone else experienced this kind odd behavior from perf mon? Any ideas on how to get an accurate reading? UPDATE: After running for about an hour the number of active sessions has dropped by 4. So it does seem to be responding to sessions timing out.

  I'm writing a small shell script that needs to reverse the lines of a text file. Is there a standard filter command to do this sort of thing? My specific application is that I'm getting a list of Git commit identifiers, and I want to process them in reverse order: git log --pretty=oneline work...master | grep -v DEBUG: | cut -d' ' -f1 | reverse The best I've come up with is to implement reverse like this: ... | cat -b | sort -rn | cut -f2- This uses cat to number every line, then sort to sort them in descending numeric order (which ends up reversing the whole file), then cut to remove the unneeded line number. The above works for my application, but may fail in the general case because cat -b only numbers nonblank lines. Is there a better, more general way to do this?

• Question on Win32 LogonUser API and the Logon Type

  We have developed a ASP.NET web application and has implemented a custom authentication solution using active directory as the credentials store. Our front end application uses a normal login form to capture the user name and password and leverages the Win32 LogonUser method to authenticate the user’s credentials. When we are calling the LogonUser method, we are using the LOGON32_LOGON_NETWORK as the logon type. The issue we have found is that user profile folders are being created under the C:\Users folder of the web server. The folder seems to be created when a new user who has never logged on before is logging in for the first time. As the number of new users logging into the application grows, disk space is shrinking due to the large number of new user folders getting created. Has anyone seen this behavior with the Win32 LogonUser method? Does anyone know how to disable this behavior?

• Spring - disable bind exceptions (for a particular property)

  Hi all, In a web application I'm working on using Spring 2.5.6.SEC01, I essentially have an Integer field that takes a number to determine which page to scroll to. The requirements changed, and we no longer want to display an error message, but simply ignore the user's input if they enter an invalid number, say "adfadf". I was reading that you can do that via: TypeMismatch.property=Some New Error Message However, after having tried that, we are still getting the original error message: java.lang.Integer.TypeMismatch=... I only want to disable this message for that given property. How can I do that? I still want binding to occur automatically, I just don't want to hear about it now. Walter

• Shell Extension: DragQueryFile returns at most 16 (in Windows 7)

  I've writtten a shell extension (guided by The Complete Idiot's Guide to Writing Shell Extensions) which worked as it should until I upgraded to Windows 7(32bit). Now, the function DragQueryFile UINT uNumFiles = DragQueryFile(hDrop,0xFFFFFFFF,NULL,0); returns the right number of selected files until the number is above 16. Then always 16 is returned. I've tested it in XP(32) and Vista(32), there it works, in Windows7 (32/64) it doesn't. Any ideas? Thanks.

• How do I generate a level randomly?

  I am currently hard coding 10 different instances like the code below, but but I'd like to create many more. Instead of having the same layout for the new level, I was wondering if there is anyway to generate a random X value for each block (this will be how far into the level it is). A level 100,000 pixels wide would be good enough but if anyone knows a system to make the level go on and on, I'd like to know that too. This is basically how I define a block now (with irrelevant code removed): block = new Block(R.drawable.block, 400, platformheight); block2 = new Block(R.drawable.block, 600, platformheight); block3 = new Block(R.drawable.block, 750, platformheight); The 400 is the X position, which I'd like to place randomly through the level, the platformheight variable defines the Y position which I don't want to change.

• AIF or Data Migration Framework [AX 2012]

  I was importing some entities to AX 2012 using AIF and consuming the web services through an C# ASP.Net application. I already made it for Customers,Vendors,Workers,Chart of Accounts and now starting General Journals. Some customization I could find a workaround using the AIF Document Service Wizard: Creating the DUNS number using a service for the DirDunsNumber table, later associating the customer with the new created DUNS Number. On the Products data migration will need a lot of customization like this. This month I heard the annoucement that there is this new framework (Data Migration Framework), still in beta version. I would like to know if the Data Migration Framework would cover all of these customizations ? What are the advantages of this new framework over AIF ?

• .NET Excel Interop - Why aren't my Footers displaying in my printed output file?

  I'm working with C# and Office 2007's Excel Interop API. I'm opening an Excel file, applying some formatting and then sending it to the printer. I've got a problem, though. The Footer text doesn't appear to be printing. If I check the PageSetup.RightFooter property, I can see the expected Page Number in the Footer. That Page Number doesn't appear anywhere on the printed output sheet. When I print using Excel, though, they appear. Does anyone know why my Footer text is not appearing? Here's my code. • Problem in displaying custom UITableViewCell

  Hi All, I have a tableview displaying data using a custom UITableViewCell(say cell1). On touch of a row, I change the custom cell to another custom UITableViewCell(say cell2). Also I increase the size of row of the selected cell to accomodate, more items of cell2. My problem is that the approach works fine when the number of rows in table view is less. When the number of rows increses, the rows expand on touching, but the data displayed is same as that of cell1. Cell2 doesn't seem to be loaded at all.   From Lafore's "Data Structures and Algorithms in Java": (about insertion sort (which uses copy + shift instead of swap (used in bubble and selection sort))) However, a copy isn’t as time-consuming as a swap, so for random data this algo- rithm runs twice as fast as the bubble sort and faster than the selectionsort. Also author doesn't mention how time consuming shift is. From my POV copy is the simplest pointer assignment operation. While swap is 3x pointer assignment operations. Which doesn't take much time. Also shift of N elemtns is Nx pointer assignment operations. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Please explain, why what author says is true? I don't understand.
