  • How can I programmatically construct the object reference?

    Lets just say that I have three textboxes: TextBox1, TextBox2, TextBox3. Normally if I wanted to change the text for example I would put TextBox1.Text = "Whatever" and so on. For what I'm doing right now I would like to something like (TextBox & "i").Text. That obviously isn't the syntax I need to use I'm just using it as an example for what I need to do. So how can I do something like this? The main reason I'm doing this is to reduce code with a loop. Please keep in mind that I'm not actually changing the text of the textboxes I'm simply using that as an example to get the point across.

  • How can I access and modify objects inside frames with AS3 in a permanent way?

    I have a MovieClip symbol created with flash in a fla file library. There is a textfield in frame one of this movieclip's timeline . There is another frame in the movieclip timeline. There is a custon class definition for this symbol. It is a flipping card in a memory game. I access the textfield by going to frame 2 (gotoAndStop(2)) and setting the textfield's text property ( this.field.text = "hello" ). However if I go to frame 1 and then return to frame 2, the text becomes the original one in the library's symbol. I have to modify the text propery again in a showFace method I've written. Besides, I cannot pass parameters in the constructor because it is a symbol in the library and that would give errors. I find this behaviour of flash extremely weird. Is there a way I can set properties inside frames permanently? Thank you

  • Using a set of numbers inside a database without creating a temporary table

    I have a set of numbers and a table in a database with the id (primary key) and text (not null) columns. I would like to create a query that returns all the numbers in the set and the associated text from the table. Unfortunately not all numbers exist in the database's id column, so this won't work: select id, text from table where id in (<set of numbers>) For the non-existing ids the best would be to return null as the text from the query. Is there a way to produce the desired output without first creating a temporary table from the set inside the database? The database engine in use is a Microsoft SQL Server 2008 SP1 but I'd be interested in any solution with any database engine.

  • Help with a MySQL SELECT WHERE Clause

    A column in my table contains email addresses. I have a text string that contains the a few usernames of email addresses separated by commas. I can make text sting into an array if necessary to get my SELECT WHERE clause to work correctly. Text string search argument is 'bob,sally,steve' I want to produce a WHERE clause that only returns rows where the username portion of the email address in the table matches one of the usernames in my text string search argument. Thus a row with [email protected] would not be returned but [email protected] would be. Does anyone have a WHERE clause sample that produces this result? Thanks.

    I'm attempting to use a Silverlight ComboBox with a static list of elements in a very simple binding scenario. The problem is the selected item is not returning me the Text of the TextBlock within the ComboBox and is instead returning "System.Windows.Controls.TextBlock". Everything works fine except when I try to open the file in gedit (linux), it says it can't identify the character encoding. Notepad (on windows) opens the file just fine.     I'm searching files and returning lines that include the search text, and I'm not really sure the best way to display the information I get. Every time I get a match, I want to show, in some sort of control, the File it came from, and the whole text line. (aka streamreader.ReadLine() result). First I tried just putting it all in a read-only text box, but it doesn't have a scroll bar. What is the best form control to help me display this data neatly?
