• Pass table as parameter to SQLCLR TV-UDF

  We have a third-party DLL that can operate on a DataTable of source information and generate some useful values, and we're trying to hook it up through SQLCLR to be callable as a table-valued UDF in SQL Server 2008. Taking the concept here one step further, I would like to program a CLR Table-Valued Function that operates on a table of source data from the DB. I'm pretty sure I understand what needs to happen on the T-SQL side of things; but, what should the method signature look like in the .NET (C#) code? • OleDb database to DataSet and back in c#?

  I'm writing a program that lets a user: Connect to an (arbitrary) View all of the tables in that database in separate DataGridViews Edit them in the program, generate random data, and see the results Choose to commit those changes or revert So I discovered the DataSet class, which looks like it's capable of holding everything that a database would, and I decided that the best thing to do here would be to load everything into one dataset, let the user edit it, and then save the dataset back to the database. The problem is that the only way I can find to load the database tables is this: set = new DataSet(); DataTable schema = connection.GetOleDbSchemaTable( OleDbSchemaGuid.Tables, new string[] { null, null, null, "TABLE" }); foreach (DataRow row in schema.Rows) { string tableName = row.Field<string>("TABLE_NAME"); DataTable dTable = new DataTable(); new OleDbDataAdapter("SELECT * FROM " + tableName, connection).Fill(dTable); dTable.TableName = tableName; set.Tables.Add(dTable); } while it seems like there should be a simpler way given that datasets appear to be designed for exactly this purpose. The real problem though is when I try saving these things. In order to use the OleDbDataAdapter.Update() method, I'm told that I have to provide valid INSERT queries. Doesn't that kind of negate the whole point of having a class to handle this stuff for me? Anyway, I'm hoping somebody can either explain how to load and save a database into a dataset or maybe give me a better idea of how to do what I'm trying to do. I could always parse the commands together myself, but that doesn't seem like the best solution.

• Boto - How to delete a record set from route53 -Tried to delete resource record set but it was not found

  I am using the following to delete route53 records. I get no error messages. conn = Route53Connection(aws_access_key_id, aws_secret_access_key) changes = ResourceRecordSets(conn, zone_id) change = changes.add_change("DELETE",sub_domain, "A", 60,weight=weight,identifier=identifier) change.add_value(ip_old) changes.commit() all required fields are present and they match..weight, identifier, ttl=60 etc.\ e.g. test.com. A 111.111.111.111 60 1 id1 test.com. A 111.111.111.222 60 1 id2 I want to delete 111.111.111.222 and the record set. So, what is the proper way to delete a record set? For a record set, I will have multiple values that are distinguished by a unique identifier. When an ip address becomes in active I want to remove from route53. I am using a a poor mans load balancing. • Invoking ADO.NET from MATLAB

  It's possible to call .NET from MATLAB, so I thought I would try to use ADO.NET to connect to a database. I seem to have hit a blocking problem - anytime you try and create a Command object, it throws an error. It seems like a pure and simple bug on MATLAB's part - maybe it happens with every .NET class that happens to have a property called "Connection". Should I just throw in the towel and give up on using MATLAB to talk to a database using .NET?

• Getting a 404 when setting up MVC in IIS 6 and using .NET 4 beta 2

  Hi all, I've completed this set up on a fair few IIS 6 boxes, but one is giving me a tough time. The problem occurs when I add the application extension mapping to: c:\windows\microsoft.net\framework\v4.0.21006\aspnet_isapi.dll When this is in place, I get a 404 error on every request. Even if I remove all files from the application directory apart from a basic test.htm and navigate to that, I still get a 404. I've unchecked the "Verify that file exists" I've set up a .NET 4 application pool and pointed my application to that I've changed the ASP.NET version to 4.0.21006 I've checked the IIS log file, and there's nothing useful in there (it only shows the first bunch of requests after each reboot and then stops logging) I've checked the application event log and nothing gets reported I've installed MVC 2 I've copied the set up onto another box, just to be sure, following all the same steps - and it all works! What else can I look out for?? N.B: If I set .NET to v2 in IIS, then I can successfully navigate to \test.htm

• Upgrading to IIS7 stopped Firefox from receiving cookies?

  Our website has been using IIS6 for a long time. We test on IE8, Firefox, and Chrome. All browsers worked fine. We recently did an upgrade to IIS7, and Chrome and IE8 continue to work normally, but Firefox appears to be unable to get the ASP session cookie. As a result, when our code checks the Session[] object, we see nothing, we think the user has logged out, and the site resets your session. Does anyone know why upgrading to IIS7 would cause this behavior in Firefox? We've: 1) Reverted our application pool back to classic mode (no change); 2) Added a dummy value in the Global.asax object (no change); and 3) changed the web.config file from "authentication cookieless=autodetect" to "cookieless=usercookie" and back (no change).

  After spending a miserable month with MySQL/.NET/EntityFramework, my findings: Support for Entity Framework is VERY primitive, please use it for student-subjects type of database. Kindly do not consider it using for serious development as they ARE STILL unable to sort out VERY BASIC things like: it DOES NOT support unsigned stuff it DOES NOT support unsigned columns as FK; if you try, it gives you a beautiful exception; "The specified value is not an instance of a valid constant type\r\nParameter name: value" [http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=44801] blob cannot store more then few KB; cannot compare null object with a column with a LEGAL null value [http://bugs.mysql.com/bug.php?id=49936] they are unable to write VERY PRIMITIVE check to return date as null if value in column is 0000-00-00 00:00:00 if you use Visual Studio; sorry; mysql/sun guys hate Microsoft, they will NOT LET you import more then two or three tables (for Micky Mouse type of tables, they allow five; but thats it) - if you try, it will throw TIME OUT error on your face ... unless you are smart enough to change the connection time in connection string Anyone who would like to add in above list? WISH I would have seen a list like this before I selected MySQL :(

• Android: 2D. OpenGl or android.graphics?

  I'm working with my friend on our first Android game. Basic idea is that every frame the whole surface is redrawn (1 large bitmap) which then sprinkled all over with large number of particles which produces effect of soapy bubbles where there's a pool of about 20 bitmaps which randomly gets picked to produce illusion that all bubbles (between 200 - 300) are all different. The math engine is in C (JNI) and currently all drawing is done using android.graphics package very similar (since that was the example I was using) to Lunar Lander. It works but animation is somewhat jerky and I can feel by temperature of my phone that it is very busy. Will we benefit from switching to OpenGL? And as a bonus question: what would be a good way to optimize the drawing mechanism (Lunar Lander like) we have now?

I get the message: Secure VPN Connection terminated locally by the Client. Reason 412: The remote peer is no longer responding. I can connect to the other ASA if I use a normal cheap Linksys. • ASP with Crystal Report 9 hangs on .NET framework 3.5

  We have an ASP (not ASP.NET) application running on Windows 2003 server. One of the functions of the application is to generate reports using Crystal Report 9. It has been working without any problem with .NET Framework 2.0 and now it is required to install .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 on the server but after we installed the 3.5 SP1, every time we run the application the Crystal report is not generated and the web page hangs so we have to recycle the application pool in IIS to get the application back going. Does anyone have any idea/solution to this problem? Any help will be greatly appreciate.

• How to avoid this very heavy query that slows down the application?

  Hi, We have a web application running in a production enviroment and at some point the client complained about how slow the application got. When we checked what was going on with the application and the database we discover this "precious" query that was being executed by several users at the same time (thus inflicting an extremely high load on the database server): SELECT NULL AS table_cat, o.owner AS table_schem, o.object_name AS table_name, o.object_type AS table_type, NULL AS remarks FROM all_objects o WHERE o.owner LIKE :1 ESCAPE :"SYS_B_0" AND o.object_name LIKE :2 ESCAPE :"SYS_B_1" AND o.object_type IN(:"SYS_B_2", :"SYS_B_3") ORDER BY table_type, table_schem, table_name Our application does not execute this query, I believe it is an Hibernate internal query. I've found little information on why Hibernate does this extremely heavy query, so any help in how to avoid it very much appreciated! The production enviroment information: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.3 (Tikanga), JDK 1.5, web container OC4J (whitin Oracle Application Server), Oracle Database 10.1.0.4, JDBC Driver for JDK 1.2 and 1.3, Hibernate version 3.2.6.ga, connection pool library C3P0 version 0.9.1.   I'm writing a small C# application that will use Internet Explorer to interact with a couple a websites, with help from WatiN. However, it will also require from time to time to use a proxy. I've came across Programmatically Set Browser Proxy Settings in C#, but this only enables me to enter a proxy address, and I also need to enter a Proxy username and password. How can I do that? Note: It doesn't matter if a solution changes the entire system Internet settings. However, I would prefer to change only IE proxy settings (for any connection). The solution has to work with IE8 and Windows XP SP3 or higher. I'd like to have the possibility to read the Proxy settings first, so that later I can undo my changes. EDIT With the help of the Windows Registry accessible through Microsoft.Win32.RegistryKey, i was able to apply a proxy something like this: RegistryKey registry = Registry.CurrentUser.OpenSubKey("Software\\Microsoft\\Windows\\CurrentVersion\\Internet Settings", true); registry.SetValue("ProxyEnable", 1); registry.SetValue("ProxyServer", "127.0.0.1:8080"); But how can i specify a username and a password to login at the proxy server? • JDBC Realm: GlassFish v2.1 = OK; GlassFish v3 = fail with invaliduserreason

  In my J2EE 5 application I have a JDBC Realm based security with Form method. Encrypt method is MD5 as default. The database is PostgreSQL 8.4 installed locally (or 8.3 available via lan). My app used to work finely on GlassFish v2.1 server with PostgreSQL 8.3, but now I need to deploy it on GlassFish v3. I am absolutely sure I have done all the same config on GFv3 like creating Connection Pool (which pings with no problem), JDBC Resource and JDBC Realm. But on GFv3 I get login exception with "invaliduserreason" while the database schema is just created from the working database script. I have checked the data and entered login/password thousand times and it seems that data is all right. So where can I find the reason of unworking security? Please, advice. NetBeans 6.8 Thanks.

• .NET Framework 4 RTM on Windows server 2008 R2

  I've just installed .NET 4 on Windows SErver 2008 R2 x64 and I am getting 500 Internal Server Error with an ASP.NET MVC application which was previously running fine on 3.5. The application was upgraded from targeting 3.5 to target 4 and I personally built it today on my development machine (changed in VS - Properties to .NET Framework 4). On the server I installed .NET Framework 4 Client profile and Full both automatically through the Web Platform Installer. ASP.NET MVC 2 was also installed through Platform Installer. I created a new .NET 4 application pool in IIS and placed the web app in it. Also I have custom errors turned Off in web.config but even so no detailed error is displayed - just the plain IIS 7.5 500 Internal Server Error. Any suggestions?

It may be a stupid question, but working with multiple processes and shared memory is hard enough, so I'd like to know 100% whether I got the basics right.

• Error when trying to connect to Jacorb naming service

  I'm hoping to get some help with this weird problem. We're running the Jacorb name server and I have a simple client that I'm using to try to connect and do awesome CORBA voodoo. The name server is running, but when I try to start my java app, I get a "Connection failure" error (org.omg.CORBA.COMM_FAILURE, minor code 201, "caused by java.net.ConnectionException: Connection refused: connect"). Here's the weird part. The error reports that it's trying to connect using the default port 900, but I'm passing in an argument to try to override the port number of the name service to match the one being used by the name server. My java command is like this: java -classpath . HelloClient -Djava.endorsed.dirs="bla bla bla" -Dorg.omg.CORBA.ORBClass=org.jacorb.orb.ORB -Dorg.omg.CORBA.ORBSingletonClass=org.jacorb.orb.ORBSingleton -DORBInitRef.NameService=corbaloc::localhost:2809/StandardNS/NameServer-POA/_root I also tried the parameters without the first capital D (I've seen it both ways and I don't know the difference). Now, if I put in -ORBInitialPort 2809, then the client does appear to try to connect, but then I get a corba.OBJECT_NOT_EXIST error. I could use any help or advise anyone has.

• Can't resolve "UnauthorizedAccessException" with MVC 2 application running under IIS7

  We use MVC controllers that access System.File.IO in our application and they work fine in localhost (IIS 6.0-based Cassini). Deploying to IIS7, we have problems getting the controllers to work because they throw UnauthorizedAccessExceptions. We have done the following to try to resolve the issue: - Set NETWORK SERVICE and IUSR accounts to have permission on the files and folders in question - Ensured the App Pool is running under NETWORK SERVICE and loading the user profile - Application is running under full trust - We tried adding impersonation to web.config and giving NETWORK SERVICE write permissions Now, we alternate between getting UnauthorizedAccessException and an IIS7 404 page that suggests the routes are being ignored completely (for example we serve "/favicon.ico" via a controller when the physical file actually lives at /content/images/favicon.ico). We used ProcessMonitor to try to track down the issue but weren't successful.

  I'm trying to invoke a method f() every t time, but if the previous invocation of f() has not finished yet, wait until it's finished. I've read a bit about the available timers (this is a useful link) but couldn't find any good way of doing what I want, save for manually writing it all. Any help about how to achieve this will be appreciated, though I fear I might not be able to find a simple solution using timers. To clarify, if x is one second, and f() runs the arbitrary durations I've written below, then: Step Operation Time taken 1 wait 1s 2 f() 0.6s 3 wait 0.4s (because f already took 0.6 seconds) 4 f() 10s 5 wait 0s (we're late) 6 f() 0.3s 7 wait 0.7s (we can disregard the debt from step 4) Notice that the nature of this timer is that f() will not need to be safe regarding re-entrance, and a thread pool of size 1 is enough here.

  I have a system with the following setup: I use: Windows CE 6 R3 Microsoft's Bluetooth stack including all profiles Motorola H500 The Audio Gateway service is up and running (checked through services list in cmd) GSM Module is functional - I am able to set outgoing calls and to answer calls. Bluetooth is functional - the A2DP profile plays music to Motorola headphones (can't remember the model right now) I want to hold a conversation using a headset device. I have included all Bluetooth components in the catalog. I pair the device using the Control Panel applet. When I press the button on the Motorla device to answer a call I get a print by the Audio Gateway: BTAGSVC: ConnectionEvent. BTAGSVC: SCOListenThread_Int - Connection Event. BTAGSVC: ConnectionEvent. BTAGSVC: SCOListenThread_Int - Connection Event. BTAGSVC: ConnectionEvent. BTAGSVC: A Bluetooth peer device has connected to the Audio Gateway. BTAGSVC: Could not open registry key for BT Addr: 2. BTAGSVC: The peer device was not accepted since the user has never confirmed it as a device to be used. So my questions are as follows: What do I need to do to pair the device with the Audio Gateway? Once my device is paired, do I need to set anything else up? (except for the GSM module of course)

  I've got a chunk of code where I can pass info into a MySQL command using parameters through an ODBC connection.
