• Mobile broadband not connect without unplug and plug

  I have recently installed ubuntu 13.10 and I am still very new in this operating system. My problem is that when I start my computer, it detects all the wifi connections around but not my mobile broadband usb connection (huwaie). I dont get any mobile broadband section automatically. I have to unplug and then plug my broadband usb to connect and have mobile broadband section available. I dont like to unplug and then plug my device always as it will loose my laptop and I always want to be plug in laptop even in shutdown. I always want to auto detect my usb broadband by ubuntu. Please someone guide me. Thanks in advance.

• SPARC T5-4 Engineering Simulation Solution

  A recent Oracle internal performance evaluation for computer-based product design demonstrated that Oracle's SPARC T5-4 server running MSC's SimManager simulation software with Oracle Database 12c consolidates the work of multiple x86 servers while delivering better overall performance.   Engineering simulation solutions have taken the center stage in helping companies design and develop innovative products while reducing physical prototyping costs, and exploring a larger design space, resulting in more design possibilities. For this solution, a single SPARC T5-4 server running Oracle Solaris 11 was deployed to consolidate the MSC SimManager server, the Oracle Database 12c server, and the web application server onto a single platform. • Programming for Digital frames

  A project has recently come to my attention but i have no idea where to start or even if its possible. The idea revolves around programming a clock that is displayed inside a digital photo frame. The user would then be able to put different pictures corresponding to different times inside a usb pen for example, which would load as soon as you put the usb in. The project itself would be a really neat project - if it was just on a computer. I have no idea if what im talking about it even possible on a digital photo frame and if it is what language? Anyone who has any input at all would be great. My current idea is to maybe have a small device at the back, SSD, that runs the program through a screen, completely by passing standard digital photo frames, again though i dont know how to begin with this. And yes ive tried google (although it helps to know what to google).

• choppy streaming audio

  I could use some help troubleshooting choppy streaming audio. The problem is jerky playback regardless of audio or video with audio. Both Chromium and Firefox have the problem, however files played directly on the machine with Rhythmbox sound just fine. I'm running 12.04 LTS on a C2D T9300. • Trying to get back seamless mode on my VirtualBox

  I am trying from some days to activate again the seamless mode on my VirtualBox(using Ubuntu 12.04 on an osx device), which was correctly set till now but which isn't working anymore. I have had already this problem but then I had to reinstall a new disk on my VB. I tried everything I know : installing it by clicking on the 'devices' item in the nav bar of VB's app, I created a new dir in /media and then tried to mount the /dev/sr0. When running sh ./VBoxLinuxAdditions.run, it installed correctly But when rebooting my machine, I always have the same problem. Does anybody knows how to activate again Seamless Mode ?

• Trying to re-install ubuntu 11.10on an HP Pavillion G6, screen goes black after the ubuntu logo shows.How do I get it to install normally?

  Installed Ubuntu 11.1 successfully without my wireless device being recognized. Used sudo apt-get update + upgrade commands to attempt to fix this. Computer crashes after upgrade and now it won't finish re-installing Ubuntu, after it shows the first purple screen with the Ubuntu logo, the screen goes black. Used the Derik's Boot Nuke CD and then attempted re-installment again, and the black screen problem remains consistent, seemingly no matter what I do. It sounds like it's installing but won't let me see anything or go anywhere. heelllppp

• Evoluent Vertical Mouse - Re-mapping Buttons?

  I have the Evoluent Vertical Mouse at work and at home. One is wired, the other wireless. Ubuntu maps their buttons differently and it makes me crazy when I switch locations. I use 12.10, but same has applied to every Ubuntu version since 9.10. The wired mouse is as desired: top finger button is left-click, scroll wheel is middle click and scroll, middle finger button is a right-click. On the wireless version, bottom finger button is mapped to right-click and the middle finger button is center-click. I tried tinkering with these instructions, but wound up unable to boot to GUI... had to delete the .conf file to recover: http://denishaine.wordpress.com/2011/12/01/evoluent-mouse-with-ubuntu-11-04-and-11-10/ Help?

• pulseaudio: no microphone configuration

  Updated Ubuntu to precise from oneiric on a Dell Inspirion Mini 10 (with an Intel HDA-Soundcard). I can't remember having any issues with the microphone. I didn't need it - I tried ekiga the first time in precise. I couldn't hear any sound in the echo test of ekiga, so I switched to the "System Preferences" and looked for the microphone to boost it. Surprisingly, the microphone input was greyed out - I couldn't mute or unmute, i couldn't even move the volume-slider. On the other hand: I could change the microphone-setting on console with alsamixer, so don't worry about that… :) I just wanted to ask, how to get pulseaudio back to the known, comfortable behaviour. Some newbies won't know the trick to use alsamixer… My soundcard (output of lspci): 00:1b.0 Audio device: Intel Corporation N10/ICH 7 Family High Definition Audio Controller (rev 02) Greets!

Website A Website B Website A is simply hosted within the root directory of my hosting account.Within this root *directory* i have a sub folder " subfolder A " and within which is another subfolder " subfolder B " that contains my site Website B so the path looks like root/sublfolder_A/subfolder_B/ that contains my **Website B ( i.e subfolder_B) ** All goes fine.When i access the website B from my desktop/Laptop Website B is loaded normally. but when i access the Website through a mobile device , mobile site of Website A is loaded while as it should load website_B Also , to let you know , both websites have different URL's and not subdomain's or anything. • After installing Ubuntu 12.10, Windows 8.1 disappears from start up menu

  I'm very new to Ubuntu (12.10), so I apologise if I'm not clear at any point! I had a Windows 8 (upgraded to Windows 8.1) and was fed up with it, so I converted to Ubuntu 12.10. I'd hoped to Dual Boot to at least get the benefit of both worlds. I created a partition for it in Windows and installed from a LiveUSB key (and installed into that parition). So now Ubuntu works great, but Windows 8.1 no longer shows up on the start up screen (where you theoretically pick which OS you want to boot in). I was going to try "Boot Repair" as mentioned here and restore MBR, but I don't want to start messing around with stuff I'm not entirely clear with. EDIT: For any of those who stumble here with the same problem, I just read here that a user wiped out his Windows partition by accident... I checked my own computer with sudo fdisk -l and there's only one Device Boot (dev/sda1). I'm not an expert, but I'm guessing that means Windows has been written over.

  My dissertation is about developing a tool for testing mobile applications from the GUI. Primary device is Android, but it should support Blackberry or iOs etc. I found some frameworks using Google, e.g MonkeyTalk. I am not so sure, but what I want to develop might be a mini MonkeyTalk, with minimal functionality, focused on the GUI of the application(s) to be tested. My questions: What framework(s)? I am good with Java. Can I use the xUnit family for this, and how? What should I be reading/studying? Any suggestions, links for tutorials, documentations, howtos, etc., would be very helpful. • Do I need any additional Java packages if I'm running the Oracle JRE?

  I am running the Java 7 JRE from Oracle. I installed it through terminal and it works properly with my web browsers, and otherwise, as far as I can tell. However, I was browsing through my installed packages in Software Center, and noticed that both the 'openjdk-7-jre-lib' and 'openjdk-7-jre-headless' packages were still installed from when I had the OpenJKD JRE installed, which I have since uninstalled, but did use for a good period of time before I switched. Should those be there, or might they cause complications if I leave them installed? Or would it be best to leave them installed?
