• Creating custom ribbon with SQL Server linked Access application

  I'm just learning about creating custom ribbons in Access 2010, but I'm running into an issue. The Access application I'm working with is connected to a SQL Server backend (connected, not just linked tables). As I understand it, the USysRibbons table needs to exist in the Access application itself, and not in a connected SQL Server. How does one go about creating a table in an Access application that is already linked to a SQL Server? I tried creating the table in a blank database and then importing it into the Access application without any luck.

• Can a primary key be equal to a different column?

  I know that a primary key must be unique, but is it okay for a primary key to be equal to a different column in the same table by coincidence? For instance, I have 2 tables. One table is called person that holds information about a person (ID, email, telephone, address, name). The other table is staff (ID, pID(person ID), salary, position). In staff the ID column is the primary key and is used to uniquely identify a staff member. The number is from 1 - 100. However, the pID (person ID) may be equal to the ID. For instance the staff ID may be 1 and the pID that it references to may be equal to 1. Is that okay?

  If you are familiar with Django, you know that they have a Authentication system with User model. Of course, I have many other tables that have a Foreign Key to this User model. If I want to delete this user, how do I architect a script (or through mysql itself) to delete every table that is related to this user? My only worry is that I can do this manually...but if I add a table , but I forget to add that table to my DELETE operation...then I have a row that links to a deleted, non-existing User.

  I have a table 'products' => ('product_id', 'name', 'description') and a table 'product_price' => ('product_price_id', 'product_id', 'price', 'date_updated') I want to perform a query something like SELECT `p`.*, `pp`.`price` FROM `products` `p` LEFT JOIN `product_price` `pp` ON `pp`.`product_id` = `p`.`product_id` GROUP BY `p`.`product_id` ORDER BY `pp`.`date_updated` DESC As you can probably guess the price changes often and I need to pull out the latest one. The trouble is I cannot work out how to order the LEFT JOINed table. I tried using some of the GROUP BY functions like MAX() but that would only pull out the column not the row. Thanks.

  I am writting a Silverlight Business Application with WCF RIA link. I have 2 databases on same SQL server, Public and Private. The Public database contains a table which is mostly for public access level, like "user" table which has basic user information The Private database contains a table which has "private" information, user bank transactions etc I created 2 ADO.Net entity models, one each for Private and Public database and selected the tables. I also created 2 different domain context services On on Silverlight page, I need to get information from the tables that are across 2 databases, Private and Public as described above. How do I achieve this? I am thinking of some kind of a wrapper that internally gets data from domain services. Whats the best approach?

  I am trying to create a DataTable with a multi row header. The years headers can be fixed as I don't want to do sorting by that. Is there a way to do that in Google Visualizations?   I have a table of cities that all share the same area code: 367 01451 Harvard Worcester Massachusetts MA 978 Eastern 368 01452 Hubbardston Worcester Massachusetts MA 978 Eastern 369 01453 Leominster Worcester Massachusetts MA 978 Eastern The table has multiple area codes, all with multiple cities. What I'd like to do is only select one city from each area code and delete any extra cities from duplicate area codes. What would be the best query to accomplish this? • Can I force MySQL to output results before query is completed?

  I have a large MySQL table (about 750 million rows) and I just want to extract a couple of columns. SELECT id, delid FROM tbl_name; No joins or selection criteria or anything. There is an index on both fields (separately). In principle, it could just start reading the table and spitting out the values immediately, but in practice the whole system just chews up memory and basically grinds to a halt. It seems like the entire query is being executed and the output stored somewhere before ANY output is produced... I've searched on unbuffering, turning off caches etc, but just cannot find the answer. (mysqldump is almost what I want except it dumps the whole table - but at least it just starts producing output immediately)

• Create a complex SQL query?

  Hey guys, I have a program that allows me to run queries against a large database. I have two tables that are important right now, Deposits and withdraws. Each contains a history of every user. I need to take each table, add up every deposit and withdraws (per user), then subtract the withdraws from the deposits. I then need to return every user whos result is negative (aka they withdrew more then they deposited). Is this possible in one query? Example: Deposit Table: |ID|UserName|Amount| |1 | Use1 |100.00| |2 | Use1 |50.00 | |3 | Use2 |25.00 | |4 | Use1 | 5.00 | WithDraw Table: |ID|UserName|Amount| |2 | Use2 | 5.00 | |1 | Use1 |100.00| |4 | Use1 | 5.00 | |3 | Use2 |25.00 | So then the result would output: |OverWithdrawers| | Use2 | Is this possible (I sure don't know how to do it)? • Form submission and hyperlinks using GET and POST

  I have a search resource, the user can perform searches by filling out a form and submitting it, the create action is called, the Search is saved, the show action is called, and the results are displayed. This all happens with the default POST, and all works fine. The user may want to save his search in the saved_search table (i don't use the Search table for this purpose as this table stores all searches for the purpose of compiling statistics, and gets cleared on a regular basis). Once the Search is saved, it can be re-run by clicking a hyperlink, this is where i start to get problems. I see no way of getting my hyperlink to run the create action of Search, with a POST request, and the necessary data. I then decided to try to get both form submission and the hyperlink to perform a search using a GET request, i was unable to get form_for to run my Search create action using a GET request, it always seems to get routed to my index action. Can someone suggest a good restful solution to this problem please. Many thanks

So I'm trying to get the salesID from my table "sales" that haven't got any rows in the sales_item table.   Hi, I need to take data from external file and format it, the problem is, i want to have that data stored into a variable. Load method works for me, because i need to load not the whole document, but just a part of it, but then again, i want to load to variable and not to some dom element. $.get can do this, but it doesn't support selectors. Is there any way I could make this? Now examples: Mine external file consists of a table, which has format like this: <table><tr><td><img /></td></tr><tr><td><a></a></td><td><span></span></td></tr></table> I need to extract img, a and span tags because I need them to be displayed in different order than they're now. So, is there any chance for me that i could make this work? Thanks.

  I'm using the Linq to Entities. I've got my main table, Employee setup with a field named vendorID. Vendor ID is a foreign key into the Vendors table. As it is right now, the Employee object does not directly expose the vendorID. Instead, I can only access it this way: var employee = (from e in context.Employees.Include("tbl_vendors") where e.employeeID = 1 select e).FirstOrDefault(); //this gets the vendor ID int vendorID = employee.tbl_vendors.vendorID; That is just fine and dandy, but it is extra work on the database because it is forcing a join where none is needed. Is there a way to get that key value without being forced to do a join to the tbl_vendors table?

  I originally started by selecting customers from a group of customers and then for each customer querying the records for the past few days and presenting them in a table row.   Hello, i'm trying to modify a property of a column (in sql server 2008 r2) which is of xml data type. I want set (Is full-text indexed) to yes, but after I do this and try to save changes, i get an error: 'Abc' table - Unable to modify table. Column: B is not full-text searchable. Column B is not the column I'm modyfing, but it's content is based on the modified xml column (it takes a value from one element in xml). Weird thing is that column B is full-text indexed (in table designer). Any ideas why i cannot apply changes to the xml column?

So as you are thinking we will have identity crises between applications. So we decided to go with the way Merge replication does(http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa179416(SQL.80).aspx) partition the primary key range. Below is the example scenario - Server Table A - ID Range - 0 to 100 Client 1 Table A - ID Range - 101 to 200 Client 2 Table A - ID Range - 201 to 300 how to implement this ? i know we can use BCC CHECKIDENT (yourtable, reseed, value) CHECK (([ID]<=(100))) but this does not solve the issue.... Merge replication provides an option of "Not for replication"(http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa237102(SQL.80).aspx) to achieve insert form clients and still maintain the set range.. can i use that somehow here? please help...

• Possible to not use ID field but another column name? in Lift

  I am connected to a oracle database from a scala/lift webapp. I have been able to successfully pull information from the database as I wished but am having one issue. For each table I want to access I am required to add an ID field so that the app will work with the trait IdPK. What mapper class or trait can I use to override this? I have been trying to find one but been unable to locate it. Figured people have not always had an ID field on every table they make that is just called ID... class DN_REC extends LongKeyedMapper[DN_REC] with IdPK { def getSingleton = DN_REC object dn_rec_id extends MappedInt(this){ } This is what I am talking about.   I have a row that has keywords in this way (keyword1, keyword2, keyword3) separated by commas as shown. When a user signs in, you know that he wants information about (keyword1, keyword3). Now, I have another table that has bunch of information related to different keywords, this table has a row called (keywords) which indicates if this information is suitable for which keyword. How do I render for the user the information he needs depending on the keywords. In other words, if the user wants information about (keyword3, keyword1) how do I go to the (information) table and find all the information that has the word (keyword1) or the word (keyword3) in the row (keyword)?   I have 2 tables. To simplify: Table 1, users: userId int, userName nvarchar(50) Table 2 , messages: msgId int, msgFrom int, msgTo int... msg1 and msg2, both contain userId. Now I want to get all messages, but instead of the msgFrom I want the user name. I know what to do here: select tabMessages.*, tabUsers.userName as Sender from tabMessages inner join tabUsers on msgFrom=userId where msgId = @someParameter; Everything works fine and dandy. The same to get the user name instead of msgTo. Now the problem is, how do I do to get BOTH fields in the same call? I want to get the table as msgId, msgFrom, msgTo, Sender, Recipient. I have tried as: select tabMessages.*, tabUsers.userName as Sender, tabUsers.userName as Recipient from tabMessages inner join tabUsers on msgFrom=userId and msgTo=userId where msgId = @someParameter; but that doesn't work. I'm using Ms sql2000 by the way.

  Hello, I need some help with a MySQL query. I have two tables, one with offers and one with statuses. An offer can has one or more statuses. What I would like to do is get all the offers and their latest status. For each status there's a table field named 'added' which can be used for sorting. I know this can be easily done with two queries, but I need to make it with only one because I also have to apply some filters later in the project.
