  • can not find out if the div element is already set in body in chrome extension

    in my chrome extension I got an div, which I will add to the body of the current tab. I am listening to chrome.tabs.onUpdated. If this event is called, I execute a script inside content_scripts. In this function there I´ll wait till the document is ready with jQuery $(document).ready(...). I try to access $("#div").length and sometimes it returns 1 and sometimes 0. It should added to the body, if it´s not already there. For some strange reasons, the onUpdated event is called twice on each page reload. Actually I found no way to check safely if the div was already added.

  • Deselect all options in Multiple Select with 1 option

    Hello, I currently have the following js code function clearMulti(option) { var i; var select = document.getElementById(option.parentNode.id); for(i=1;i<select.options.length;i++) { select.options[i].selected=false; } } and function clearAllOpt(select) { select.options[0].selected = false; } The first one deselects all options in the multiple select when called and the second clears the first option whenever anything else is selected. The need for this is that the first option is for All. This all works fine and dandy in FF, but in IE8 nothing happens... any suggestions on how to get this to work in both? Thanks in advance.

    Hi guys, I have a very simple css file for my Asp.Net MVC application. body { font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: x-small; color: #663300; } input { font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: x-small; background-color: #FFFF99; color: #CC6600; border: 1px solid #808000; } .headerRow { background-color: #FFFFCC; border-style: none none dotted none; border-bottom-width: 1px; border-bottom-color: #800000; font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-size: x-small; font-weight: bold; text-align: left; vertical-align: middle; text-transform: uppercase; } The Body is working well in both... as is the input. However, the headerRow isn't working in FF, yet works well in IE. Here it is, being used: <table width="700" border="0" cellspacing="1" cellpadding="2"> <tr class="headerRow"> <td> Transaction Date </td> <td> Type </td> <td> Category </td> <td> Budget Assignment </td> <td> Cost Center </td> <td align="right"> Amount </td> </tr> The header row just displays as normal body text though...

(Many apologies for the obfuscated markup, but needing to manipulate someone else's construction): There are four instances of [data-label="Checkbox"] [data-label="Checked"] in this page. I want to set [data-label="trash"] and [data-label="Sort Options"] to visibility: visible; display: [empty value] when any of the [data-label="Checkbox"] [data-label="Checked"]'s attributes changes to 'visibility', 'visible'. Else, if none of [data-label="Checkbox"] [data-label="Checked"]'s have the attribute 'visibility', 'visible', I want to set [data-label="trash"] and [data-label="Sort Options"] back to their initial states: display: none; visibility: hidden;.   • What should I put in the href when I prototype?

    When protyping we often do empty anchors. A very common way to do this is to do something like: <a href="#">Go here</a> But if the client clicks this link, the page will scroll to the top. But if we leave out the href attribute, the link won't behave like a link. I've see stuff like: <a href="javascript;">Go here</a> But it doesn't look right. Any other ideas?

  • facebook and twitter buttons doesn't work

    I am building a website in dreamweaver cs5. for some reason, the facebook like button and twitter share as well as follow button doesn't work. facebook like button shows nothing. (in the area, chrome says page cannot be found), twitter buttons show the hyperlink tweet and it tweets but the icon doesn't show up. The code for both are generated from facebook and twitter itself. I haven't hosted the site yet. I and coding and previewing it. Is that the reason for them not to work? I also tried addthis.com widget. It didn't show up as it should have. Please help! I have the same form multiple times (class "foo-form), and want to ensure I get the values for the hidden inputs within the scope of the form being submitted. Is the scope "this" implied?     Hi, i am very new at jquery and code, here i am trying to get the setTimeout event to be inside the .mouseout event but i'm not sure how to do that as i keep getting syntax error in my editor. Here's what i have: jQuery(document).ready(function() { $('.slidedown').hide(); $('.trigger').hover( function(){ // enter animation $('.slidedown').stop(true,true).animate({ height: ['toggle', 'swing'], }, 600, function() { /* animation done */ }); }, function(){ // leave animation $('.slidedown').mouseout() setTimeout( function(){ $('.slidedown').stop(true,true).animate({ height: '0px', }, 600, function() { /* animation done */ }); }, 1000 ); }); }); A small nuance, in this code the user mouses over a div, then another div bellow it slides down. Moving the mouse to the .slidedown div should keep it open until the mouse is removed. But will this code collapse the .slidedown div if the user doesn't mouse over .slidedown after .trigger but instead moves the mouse directly from .trigger to another area of page? I.e i need some kind of 'setTimeout' that is trigged only if the user doesn't move mouse over .slidedown after hovering over .trigger. Hope i make sense. Thanks for your help!

    Already checked exisitng questions for this, but didn't find an exact match. My aim is to replace characters (like spaces) on a webpage with a small image using css. Example: <p><span>This is a text</span></p> becomes: <p><span>ThisIMGisIMGaIMGtext</span></p> (where IMG stands for a visible image (middot-pic for a space f.e.)) I cannot think of a suitable css selector. But myabe one of you guys (or girls) know a solution. Is this possible at all?

It looks more or less okay in all browser, but the problem is, if a resize the window to a smaller size, sometimes the layout of the subnavigation layer is destroyed. Instead of getting smaller, all the elements are ordered more or less randomly. Any hints why?

    Hi, when I make &nbsp; in my site, it displays a tiny line, which can be hidden on some elements because I'm usually using them on CSS buttons, but I have an if statement that says if this show the result if not show a non breaking space. How do you reset the &nbsp; to display nothing? Thanks.

  • Best way to save info in hash

    I have a webpage that the user inputs data into a textarea and then process and display it with some javascript. For example if the user types: _Hello_ *World* it would do something like: <underline>Hello</underline> <b>World</b> Or something like that, the details aren't important. Now the user can "save" the page to make it something like site.com/page#_Hello_%20*World* and share that link with others. My question is: Is this the best way to do this? Is there a limit on a url that I should be worried about? Should I do something like what jsfiddle does? I would prefer not to as the site would work offline if the full text would be in the hash, and as the nature of the site is to be used offline, the user would have to first cache the jsfiddle-like hash before they could use it. What's the best way to do this?
