• Using WINAPI ReadConsole

  I am trying to use the WINAPI ReadConsole() to wait for any keypress at the end of my Win32 console application. However, when the ReadConsole() function executes the error code ERROR_INVALID_HANDLE (0x06) is flagged. I have verified hConsole_c to be a valid handle. Does anyone have any insight as to what I am doing wrongly? I am using Visual C++ 2008 Express Edition. Thanks.

• Generating PDF's via Delayed Job while maintaing a RESTful pattern.

  Hi, currently I am running a Rails app on Heroku, and everything is working great with exception of generating PDF documents that sometimes contain thousands of records. Heroku has a built-in timeout of 30 seconds, so if the request takes more than 30 seconds, it's abandoned. That's fine, since they offer delayed_job support built-in. However, all of the PDF's i generate follow a typical restful pattern. For instance, a request to "/posts.pdf" generates a pdf (using PRAWN and PRAWNTO) and it's delivered to the browser. So my basic question is, how do I create dynamically generated PDF's with delayed_job while maintaining the basic RESTful patterns Rail's so conveniently provides. Thanks.

• "paste" listener on a SWT widget

  I have an application with a SWT widget, say a org.eclipse.swt.widgets.Text, and want to add some control to the paste function. The idea is that if the user can paste a string of IDs, I detect that, run some code and paste the object that corresponds to the IDs. So I'm looking for some "ClipBoardListener" of some sort to add to my widget, but that doesnt seem to exist. A keylistener would only trap the pastes done by key and then you would have to deal with different key combos for pasting in different OS's. Based on this java 1.2 question I tried subclassing the text class and override the inser method, but that didnt work Exception in thread "main" org.eclipse.swt.SWTException: Subclassing not allowed Seemed like an ugly solution anyway.

• Visual Studio 2008 Macro for Building does not block thread

  Hello, I am trying to write a macro for Building my application, kicking off an external tool, and ataching the debugger to that external tool. Everything is working except for the building. It builds, but it is not blocking the thread so the external tool gets kicked off before it can finish. Is there a way I can run ExecuteCommand and wait for the thread to finish? • Google Translation API not working for even one page long documents

  I'm using Google Translation API to translate text from Chinese Simplified to English in my C# program. The problem is if the text is small (around one line) the API is able to translate it, but if the text is larger (more than 3 lines) is gives an exception saying "The remote server returned an unexpected response: (414) Request-URI Too Large.". However if I use translate.google.com in my browser that works fine. Please tell me how can I process large documents using Google Translate API in my desktop application written in C#.

Within that xib file, I have a table view and set it to the outlet of SettingsViewController class property myTableView. The problem is that in the main xib file, for the SettingsViewController navigation, there is one outlet myTableView. I am not sure if I have to set this to somewhere?   I have a UITableView backed by an NSFetchedResultsController which may trigger updates at any time. If the user is currently reordering rows, applying these updates will cause an exception because the table view has temporarily taken over and you get an error like Invalid update: invalid number of rows in section [...] How can I detect when the user has started moving a cell so I can delay updates caused by the fetched results controller? There don't seem to be any table view delegate methods to detect this.   I have an entity class that has 10 fields. I am using MS Validation Application block to mark all fields as mandatory (IsRequired). I am implementing a securiy feature in which during updation of the data, not all the fields in the entity class will have data. For example a few users can only view 5 fileds while others all 10 fields during updation on GUI I have the following options 1) Bring all the data for all the fields from the DB table and hide the ones not accessible to the users in GUI. I am concerned about the performance because everytime GUI will pull unncessary data. 2) Bring the data (e.g. only 5 fields) that are permissible for access/view by the user on GUI. During submit, validation block will throw exception because all fields are marked as IsRequired and only data for 5 fields are sent back to the server. I want to know if there are any other good approaches to solve problems like this. I am using .NET 3.5 Thanks.

Accordingly, the preferred way to name a class is using CamelCase: Almost without exception, class names use the CapWords convention. Classes for internal use have a leading underscore in addition. How can I be consistent with PEP 8 if my class name is formed by two acronyms (which in proper English should be capitalized). For instance, if my class name was 'NASA JPL', what would you name it?: class NASAJPL(): # 1 class NASA_JPL(): # 2 class NasaJpl(): # 3 I am using #1, but it looks weird; #3 looks weird too, and #2 seems to violate PEP 8. One way to work around this is to hard-code (or configure) the URL specified in Alternate Access Mappings. Putting the correct URL in Alternate Access Mappings is ultimately the correct solution, but if possible, I need a work-around that doesn't require configuration.

  Form, Redirect and Forward all send an unauthenticated user to a Form on a login page specified within an Authkit middleware application. I'd like to allow a client application to request a service via XHR and then present a custom 'client side' form if a HTTP status code of 401 is returned, which would then post to Authkit for authentication until valid authentication/authorization occured. Specifically, 1) a jquery $.get request might request a resource. 2) if an Authkit cookie check confirmed previous authorization the content would be returned. 3) if not I would like Authkit to simply return the '401 response' (and not redirect to another page, or return a form template) where a client side exception handler would notify the user and present an authentication form. Can Authkit work like this?

I'm looking specifically for an 'elegant' solution. I know that I could just brute force my way through all the possibilities, but I'm trying to avoid that. • Converting a navbar to a tabbar app

  Hey guys, I was wondering how to convert a NavigationController style app into a TabBarcontroller style app. I changed my mainwindow to not contain a navigationcontroller anymore (but a tabbarcontroller instead) and my delegate also appropiatly, but when I launch the app something still thinks I want a navigationController: Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSUnknownKeyException', reason: '[ setValue:forUndefinedKey:]: this class is not key value coding-compliant for the key navigationController.'
