• How can I simply change a class variable from another class in ObjectiveC?

  I simply want to change a variable of an object from another class. I can compile without a problem, but my variable always is set to 'null'. I used the following code: Object.h: @interface Object : NSObject { //...   Hi, I've got an installer with a custom action project. I want the action to fire at install. The action fires, when I write something to the event log, it works perfectly. But I really need to debug the file since the action is quite complicated. Easy enough to do manually, but it is likely to get disconnected from the Widget model classes. I would prefer not to output Javascript directly in my view, though I have considered using content_for(:js) and have a yield :js in my template footer. Any better ideas?

• Load Testing Java Web Application - find TPS / Avg transaction response time

  I would like to build my own load testing tool in Java with the goal of being able to load test a web application I am building throughout the development cycle. The web application will be receiving server to server HTTP Post requests and I would like to find its starting transaction per second (TPS) capacity along with the avgerage response time. The Post request and response messages will be in XML (I dont' think that's really applicable though :) ). I have written a very simple Java app to send transactions and count how many transactions it was able to send in one second (1000 ms) however I don't think this is the best way to load test. Really what I want is to send any number of transactions at exactly the same time - i.e. 10, 50, 100 etc. Any help would be appreciated!   My original understanding was that the asp.net page lifecycle is run once for all pages and controls under normal circumstances. When I attached a control during a container's OnPreRender, I encountered a situation where the control's OnInit was not called. OK, I considered that a bug in my code and fixed as such, by attaching the control earlier. But just today, I encountered a situation where OnInit for a control seems to be called after the normal OnInit has been done for everyone else. See stack below. It seems that during the page's PreRender, the control's OnInit is called as it is being dynamically added. So I just want to confirm exactly what ASP.NET's behavior is? Does it actually keep track of the stage of each control's lifecycle, and upon adding a new control, it will run from the very beginning? • When destroying one record, another one gets destroyed

  Products (like an iPod Classic) :has_many = :listings, :dependent = :destroy Listings (like "My name is Joe, and I have an iPod for sale) :belongs_to = :product So, if I delete a given Product, all the listings that point to it get deleted. That makes sense, and is by design. However, I am writing a "merge" function, where you merge two Products into one, and combine their Listings. So, let's say my two products are "iPod Color" and "iPod Classic", and I want to merge the two. What I want to do is say, "iPod Color, merge into iPod Classic", and result should be that: All the iPod Color Listings are re-pointed to the iPod Classic product After the product_id change, the Listing(s) are saved I then delete the "iPod Color" product Well, that should all work fine, without deleting any Listings. However, I've got this controller, and for whatever reason when I destroy the "iPod Color" Product, even after confirming that the Listings have been moved to "iPod Classic" and saved to the database, the Listings that were previously pointed to "iPod Color" get destroyed as well, and I can't figure out why. It's as if they are retaining some kind of link to the destroyed product, and therefore begin destroyed themselves.   I tried many css from other places and stackoverflow, but somehow I can not make it done. I'm very new to css, and using Joomla and a template. I'm using custom.css folder for certain customizations on style. Here is I want to do: I want to style h4 when it is a link. For example, I'm creating a custom html module, have a list in the content. And in the content I'm giving each, h5 style, and a link to it to a certain page in the site. What I want to achieve is to have this list with color blue. And when mouse over-hover to have underline and still the same color. And when clicked back to the original position with no underline and no color change. (the same color in every situation, just underline when you are over it.) I tried these h5, h5 a, h5 a: hover, h5 .contentheading a, and so on... In one instance, it was working with : h5 { font-family: arial, sans-serif; font-size: 1.3em; font-weight: bold; } h5 a { color: #0088CC; } h5 a: hover { color: #0088CC; text-decoration: underline; } As I read I should use 'a' when the heading is a link. But now something is overriding it, I'm completely lost now. I see a:hover style in the inspection. I want to use this h5 in several content (in custom modules) when I want to style a content as a list to links. And I thought it will be practical to have one heading with a certain style so that I can use it with flexibility. Thanks a lot, any help will be great : )

I wanted to pass object properties in a method call.   I have a function which receives both the array, and a specific instance of the array. I try to change the specific instance of the array by accessing one of its members "color", but it does not actually change it, as can be seen by debugging (checking the value of color after function runs in the main program). I am hoping someone can help me to access this member and change it. Essentially I need the instance of the array I'm specifying to be passed by reference if nothing else, but I'm hoping there is an easier way to accomplish what I'm trying to do. Then you can republish your workflow and it will work like a charm.

In this posting I will list DLL-s you need to have as local copies to get ASP.NET MVC 3 RC run on Windows Azure web role. Besides assemblies that are already references you may need to add references to some more assemblies. • Windows 7 doesn't boot after Ubuntu install

  I had windows 7 installed on my pc, then I installed Ubuntu 10.10/ During the installation process I have chosen to manually set my partitions: I set a 10GB drive for ubuntu root 1GB drive for swap and for boot drive I've chosen the one used by windows 7 Now I can boot ubuntu, I have the windows 7 option in the boot list, but when I choose Windows 7, it shows me a black screen for a second and returns back to boot screen. • How is technical debt best measured? What metric(s) are most useful?

  If I wanted to help a customer understand the degree of technical debt in his application, what would be the best metric to use? I've stumbled across Erik Doernenburg's code toxicity, and also Sonar's technical debt plugin, but was wondering what others exist. Ideally, I'd like to say "system A has a score of 100 whereas system B has a score of 50, so system A will most likely be more difficult to maintain than system B". Obviously, I understand that boiling down a complex concepts like "technical debt" or "maintainability" into a single number might be misleading or inaccurate (in some cases), however I need a simple way to convey the to a customer (who is not hands-on in the code) roughly how much technical debt is built into their system (relative to other systems), for the goal of building a case for refactoring/unit tests/etc. Again, I'm looking for one single number/graph/visualization, and not a comprehensive list of violations (e.g. CheckStyle, PMD, etc.).
