• Missing the "add tab group to favorites " option in IE8

  I have internet options selected for quick tabs and tab groups in setting, IE8 WIndows XP. I can open a list of favorites from the menu using the blue arrow as a tab group. I can then use the quick tabs button to show the groups open. However, I do not have the "add tab group to favorites" option in the pull down menu for favotites at the Favorite Bar. Is this a Vista feature only?

• Boost Property_Tree iterators, how to handle them?

  Hello... I am sorry but I asked a question about the same argument before, but my problem concerns another aspect of the one described in that question (How to iterate a boost...). Well, I assume that it must be another ptree or something representing another xml hierarchy to be browsed again (if I want) but documentation about this is very bad... I do not know why, but in boost docs I cannot find nothing good about this... just something about a macro to browse nodes, but this approach is one I would really like to avoid... Well, the question is so... Once getting the iterator on a ptree, how can I access node name, value, parameters (a node in a xml file)? Thankyou

• What file format can I use to output a formatted text file straight from a program without having the markup be too complicated?

  Premise: I am parsing a file that is quite nearly XML, but not quite. From this file I would like to extract data and output in a file that a user could open up in some program and read. To make the data reasonable, I would almost certainly need to format the text. In case it matters, I will probably be using Java to write the program. Problem: I cannot find a file format that supports formatting without having terribly complex rules and encoding problems. Attempts: I looked into a basic .txt extension first, but it does not have enough formatting advantage. I then tried a .rtf extension, but the rules for outputting text seem to be terribly complicated. It was then suggested that I used XML, but I do not understand how this file would be viewed. This appears to be probably the best solution, but I don't understand much about it. Perhaps somebody could shed some light here. In Other Words: Could somebody suggest and easy to use file format and/or shed some light on how to use XML for text formatting and viewing?

  Okay! I have finally more closely identified the problem I'm having. In my installer, I was attempting to get a settings file to REMAIN INTACT on a major upgrade. I finally got this to work with the suggestion to set <InstallExecuteSequence> <RemoveExistingProducts After="InstallFinalize" /> </InstallExecuteSequence> This is successful in forcing this component to leave the original, not replacing it if it exists: <Component Id="Settings" Guid="A3513208-4F12-4496-B609-197812B4A953" NeverOverwrite="yes"> <File Id="settingsXml" KeyPath="yes" ShortName="SETTINGS.XML" Name="Settings.xml" DiskId="1" Source="\\fileserver\Release\Pathways\Dependencies\Settings\settings.xml" Vital="yes" /> </Component> HOWEVER! This is a problem! I have another component listed here: <Component Id="Database" Guid="1D8756EF-FD6C-49BC-8400-299492E8C65D" KeyPath="yes"> <File Id="pathwaysMdf" Name="Pathways.mdf" DiskId="1" Source="\\fileserver\Shared\Databases\Pathways\SystemDBs\Pathways.mdf" Vital="yes"/> <File Id="pathwaysLdf" Name="Pathways_log.ldf" DiskId="1" Source="\\fileserver\Shared\Databases\Pathways\SystemDBs\Pathways.ldf" Vital="yes"/> </Component> And this component MUST BE REPLACED on a major upgrade. The values for Name and Address are set correctly. However the value of set gets lost(since it is @XMLTransient it gets ignored) Is there any way of ensuring that it is still set in the object which has been unmarshalled? Some other annotation which I can use?

• How to reverse proxy with or without trailing slash

  I have a apache web server that needs to reverse proxy a site. So example.com/test/ or example.com/test pull from the same other webserver. I have setup a reverse proxy for the one without the trailing slash like this: ProxyPass /test http://othersite.com/test ProxyPassReverse /testhttp://othersite.com/test But it doesn't work with a trailing slash. Any Ideas? I have tried redirecting from /test/ to /test with no luck. Thanks.

  First of all, I am a total dud at all things related to web developement, so please bear with me here. I suspect this question is laughable for the web guys, but unfortunately I can't figure this out. Here goes: I have an application, that does some processing, writes some result files and then displays the results in an embedded IE browser control. This is done by navigating the browser control to a local html file together with a query string containing the generated result files to display it all. The link target would look something like: c:\SomeFolder\results.htm?results=file%201.xml;file%202.xml;file%203.xml So far, everything's fine. However, in the html page is a href that is suppossed to open up the exact same just in a normal browser window. What I thought would work is: <a href="#" target="_blank">Show in browser</a> Since it is a link in an html page displayed in an IE control, the link will open up in IE no matter what the default browser might be. This works for IE7 and 8, but not for IE6. With IE6 the query string gets cut off and the browser opens file://c:/results/results.htm# without the query string. I am sure there must be a much better way to do this without the # and which would work in all IEs. How would the pros solve this?

  Hi In my website i use ASP MVC 2 + Fluent NHibernate as orm, StructureMap for IoC container. There are several databases with identical metadata(and so entities and mappings are the same). On LogOn page user fiils in login, password, rememberme and chooses his server from dropdownlist (in fact he chooses database). Web.config contains all connstrings and we can assume that they won't be changed in run-time. I suppose that it is required to have one session factory per database. I have no idea how to do that except changing xml all the time and reseting xml configuration, but its really bad solution.

  The way my application is structured, each component generates output as XML and returns an XmlWriter object. Before rendering the final output to the page, I combine all XML and perform an XSL transformation on that object. Below, is a simplified code sample of the application structure. Does it make sense to combine XmlWriter objects like this? Is there a better way to structure my application? • windows 7: Can I make it automatically download updates during one period and install them in anothe

  When Windows 7 is configured to automatically update at a certain time (say Friday 5pm), is that also when it tries to download updates, or does it pull in the updates throughout the week, and only installs them at the update time? UPDATE: So I actually want the machines to download during one set of times (9am-3pm Mon-Fri), but install during another set of times (e.g. 5pm Friday). Is there a way to achieve this?

  Here's my variation on the "multiple artifacts from Maven build" question: I'm porting from Ant to Maven. My application is an EJB server that is packaged as an EAR, but it also exposes a client JAR for use by other client apps. This jar contains the EJB interfaces, facade class and some helpers. I know that the Maven way is to have one artifact per project (POM); however, both artifacts (server EAR and client JAR) need to be built from the same source tree - server and client share, for example, the EJB and 'home' interfaces. How do I do this in Maven? Do I have one project containing two POMs, say server-pom.xml & client-pom.xml? I was thinking I could also have a parent POM (pom.xml) that can be used to build both client and server with one foul swoop? However, the lifecycles diverge after the 'package' phase, since the server has to go through assembly (tar/gzip), while the client is done after 'package' and can simply be installed into the repository. Any advice/experience on the best way to approach this?

I cd to the directory that I want to pull the files to, then I enter: rsync -vrtW [email protected]:~/public_html I enter the password then it starts running. I get all the files listed, but none of them actually transfer. What am I missing? Thanks

  Hi, I have an application that can import an XML file through this terminal command : open /path/to/main\ app.app --args myXML.xml This works great with no issues. And i have used Applescript to launch this command through shell and it works just as well. Yet when try using Cocoa's NSTask Launcher using this code : NSTask *task = [[NSTask alloc] init]; [task setLaunchPath:@"/usr/bin/open"]; [task setCurrentDirectoryPath:@"/Applications/MainApp/InstallData/App/"]; [task setArguments:[NSArray arrayWithObjects:[(NSURL *)foundApplicationURL path], @"--args", @"ImportP.xml", nil]]; [task launch]; the applications will start up to the initial screen and then crash when either the next button is clicked or when trying to close the window. Ive tried using NSAppleScript with this : NSAppleScript *script = [[NSAppleScript alloc] initWithSource:@"tell application \"Terminal\" do script \"open /Applications/MainApp/InstallData/App/Main\\\\ App.app\" end tell"]; NSDictionary *errorInfo; [script executeAndReturnError:&errorInfo]; This will launch the program and it will crash as well and i get this error in my Xcode debug window : 12011-01-04 17:41:28.296 LaunchAppFile[4453:a0f] Error loading /Library/ScriptingAdditions/Adobe Unit Types.osax/Contents/MacOS/Adobe Unit Types: dlopen(/Library/ScriptingAdditions/Adobe Unit Types.osax/Contents/MacOS/Adobe Unit Types, 262): no suitable image found. • How do you unit-test a method with complex input-output

  When you have a simple method, like for example sum(int x, int y), it is easy to write unit tests. You can check that method will sum correctly two sample integers, for example 2 + 3 should return 5, then you will check the same for some "extraordinary" numbers, for example negative values and zero. Each of these should be separate unit test, as a single unit test should contain single assert. What do you do when you have a complex input-output? Take a Xml parser for example. You can have a single method parse(String xml) that receives the String and returns a Dom object. You can write separate tests that will check that certain text node is parsed correctly, that attributes are parsed OK, that child node belongs to parent etc. For all these I can write a simple input, for example <root><child/></root> that will be used to check parent-child relationships between nodes and so on for the rest of expectations. Now, take a look at follwing Xml: <root> <child1 attribute11="attribute 11 value" attribute12="attribute 12 value">Text 1</child1> <child2 attribute21="attribute 21 value" attribute22="attribute 22 value">Text 2</child2> </root> In order to check that method worked correctly, I need to check many complex conditions, like that attribute11 and attribute12 belong to element1, that Text 1 belongs to child1 etc. I do not want to put more than one assert in my unit-test. How can I accomplish that?

  Hi Guys, I am pretty new to xml parsing and I am using XMLREADER to parse a huge file. Given the following XML (sample): <hotels> <hotel> <name>Bla1</name> </hotel> <hotel> <name>Bla2</name> </hotel> </hotels> And then the XMLREADER in PHP which pulls up the values to my Database: $reader = new XMLReader(); $reader->open('hotels.xml'); while ($reader->read()) { if ($reader->name == "name") { $reader->read(); mysql_query("INSERT INTO MyHotels (hotelName) VALUES (\"$reader->value\")"); } } $reader->close(); The problem is that I've got a single empty row between each of the parsed nodes!! Not sure why this happens! | ID | hotelName | | 1 | Bla1 | | 2 | | | 3 | Bla2 | | 4 | | Help is greatly appreciated.

• JQuery Load() syntax - Changing data source on mouseenter

  Hey everyone. I've written this simple function that is supposed to load a portion of an XML file on mouseenter. It works fine when I specify the data source explicitly, shown below. I have a number of '.invest-port-thumb' divs, each with a unique link. The following code works fine—but it loads the whole XML file—and I only want a portion: $(document).ready(function() { $('.invest-port-thumb a').mouseenter(function() { $('#slider-name').load(this.href); }); }); This code also works fine—loading only the 'cName' portion that I want it to load...Except that this code refers to one of the files, instead of the value of this.href. $(document).ready(function() { $('.invest-port-thumb a').mouseenter(function() { $('#slider-name').load('port/atd.xml cName'); }); }); I guess what I'm saying, syntax wise—How can I combine this.href and the data matching cName?   I have a WCF REST Starter Kit service. The type handled by the service is a subclass of a base class. For POST requests, the base class members are not correctly populated. The class hierarchy looks like this: [DataContract] public class BaseTreeItem { [DataMember] public String Id { get; set; } [DataMember] public String Description { get; set; } } [DataContract] public class Discipline : BaseTreeItem { ... } The service definition looks like: [WebHelp(Comment = "Retrieve a Discipline")] [WebGet(UriTemplate = "discipline?id={id}")] [OperationContract] public Discipline getDiscipline(String id) { ... } [WebHelp(Comment = "Create/Update/Delete a Discipline")] [OperationContract] [WebInvoke(Method = "POST", UriTemplate = "discipline")] public WCF_Result DisciplineMaintenance(Discipline discipline) { ... } Problem: While the GET works fine (returns the base class Id and Description), the POST does not populate Id and Description even though the XML contains the fields.   Hello Using JAXB I've created a series of classes which represent my XML schema. Validating against the schema an XML file has thus become a 'tree' of java objects representing the XML. Now I'd like to access, delete and add an object of one the created types in my tree. If I've got classes' methods arranged like this: RootType class has: public List<FQType> getFq() { // and setter return fq; } FQType class has: public RemapType getRemap() { // and setter return remap; } RemapType class has: public String getSource() { // and setter return source; } What's the most concise way to code reading and writing of the 'source' member of a RemapType instance in an FQType instance with, say, fqtypeID=1, in an array of type RootType (in which RootType instances also each have rootID)? Currently I'm using a for loop Iterator in which is an if rootID = mySelectedRootID. In the if I nest a second for loop Iterator over the contained FQType instances and in that a second if fqTypeID = mySelectedFQTypeID. IE for loop iterator/if statement pairs to recognise the object of desire. With all the bells and whistles this way is nearly 15 lines of code to access a data type - can I do this in one line? • What is the simplest way to implement multithreading in c# to existing code

  I have already implemented a functionnal application that parses 26 pages of html all at once to produce an xml file with data contained on the web pages. I would need to implement a thread so that this method can work in the background without causing my app to seems unresponsive. Secondly, I have another function that is decoupled from the first one which compares two xml files to produce a third one and then transform this third xml file to produce an html page using XSLT. This would have to be on a thread, where I can click Cancel to stop the thread whithout crashing the app. What is the easiest best way to do this using WPF forms in VS 2010 ? I have chosen to use the BackgroundWorker.
