• Gridview inside UpdatePanel refresh

  I use a GridView to represent data from a table in my DB. the GridView has some template fields whose content are determined before displaying the Grid ( I use the RowDataBound event to determine content of template fields before displaying the GridView). The page displays a list of records from the table records and then, the recording process starts. after the process is over, the template fields should be updated. how do I automatically refresh the GridView after the process is finished ? it should be noted that the GridView is contained within an control and that I continuously poll the server using a Timer control that executes "GridView1.DataBind()" at the server level every 60 seconds. since the GridView is inside an UpdatePanel, calling DataBind() method on it doesn't seem to call the RowDataBound event. How can I solve this ?

• Through Java, make a call to Javascript functions on networked device?

  I am doing device monitoring on a networked system. I need to know how to make Javascript calls on that device via its IP address to get certain status information (this device's status is only available through Javascript APIs, not SNMP, etc). I am working in Java. ADDED: The specific device is an Amino set-top-box. It has what it calls JMACX: JavaScript Media Access Control Extensions API specification. It allows you within an HTML document to use that API to get MUCH information about the device (cpu usage, channel info, remote-control options, etc.). I need to get this information within a Java program for specific monitoring purposes. Perhaps possible with HTTP requests? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Steve

• ReorderListView in WPF

  I love the controls from the Bag-Of-Tricks. I am interested in modifying the ReorderListBox control to get a ReorderListView control. However, simply changing the base class from ListBox to ListView is not working. When I try to add a ReorderListView to XAML like this: <lib:ReorderListView Grid.Row="1"> <ReorderListView.View> <GridView> <GridViewColumn Header="Data1" /> </GridView> </ReorderListView.View> </lib:ReorderListView> I get an error ("The tag 'ReorderListView.View' does not exist in XML namespace 'http://schemas.microsoft.com/winfx/2006/xaml/presentation'.) How do I modify the ReorderListBox example to get this to work? Has anyone already succeeded in doing this?

• HTML/Javascript disabled and then reenabled checkbox is being POSTED

  I have a page with a checkbox that is disabled/reenabled with javascript on button click. If I never disable the checkbox then its value is correctly POSTed, however if I disable the checkbox even once it gets posted without value (posts as "name=" even when checked). I have inspected the POST value through firebug. Why does it behaves like this? Am I missing something? I ve read somewhere that disabled controls are not posted, thats OK, but this control is not disabled when the submit is clicked. I am using ASP.NET with more complex setup to test this, but essentially this is the core of the problem. The brower is FF latest. I found very similar question, however without an answer: disabled control being reenabled but still not posting back contents to server

• Window sizing constraints by content

  I want the window to respect MinWidth/MinHeight and MaxWidth/MaxHeight specifications of the content control inside. Some suggested using SizeToContent, but this only helps to set the initial window size, not the constraints. Others suggested overriding MeasureOverride and setting window's Min/Max height and width there, but this seems to be somewhat unclean, considering that such a trivial problem should surely have a purely declarative solution. Just to mention another solution which seems reasonable but does not work (and had been previously mentioned in an answer which got deleted): binding MinWidth of the window to MinWidth of the control does not take into account window decorations.

• Read Core data in Serial Queue for iPhone app

  I have an app which uses Core data and the values are fetched from a link on internet. This runs absolutely fine when I am creating a serial queue in AppDelegate and I am not facing any problem with the same. Now, when I am trying to re-create similar scenario in a UITableViewController and executing the same in a serial queue but when the control reaches NSError *error; NSArray *match = [context executeFetchRequest:fetchRequest error:&error]; execution control disappears and then this code remains in the execution till eternity. Can anyone help me with what exactly is wrong here? FYI, I am passing the same ManagedObjectContext to the serial queue.

• Controlling processes from Python

  Hi, I want to control several subprocesses of the same type from python (I am under linux). I want to: Start them. Stop them. Ask if they are still running. I can start a processes with with spawnl, and get the pid. Using this pid I can stop it with kill. And I am sure there is also a way to ask if it is running with the pid. The problem is, what if the following happens: I start a process, remember the pid. The process ends without me noticing and another completely different process starts getting assigned the same pid. I attempt to kill my process, I kill a completely different one. What is the better way to start and control processes in python? Thanks!

• C# Multi threading- Move objects between threads

  Hi, i am working with a winforms control that is both a GUI element and also does some internal processing that has not been exposed to the developer. When this component is instantiated it may take between 5 and 15 seconds to become ready so what i want to do is put it on another thread and when its done bring it back to the gui thread and place it on my form. The problem is that this will (and has) cause a cross thread exception. Normally when i work with worker threads its just with simple data objects i can push back when processing is complete and then use with controls already on the main thread but ive never needed to move an entire control in this fashion. Does anyone know if this is possible and if so how? If not how does one deal with a problem like this where there is the potential to lock the main gui?

All instances of MyUserControl are contained in a List and I access them with a foreach. string temp = userControl.InputValue; This is always null. In my MainWindow.xaml I can see the "My Input" in the text box of the user control but I can't ever seem to get it out of there.

  Ok, I created a windows control project....dropped a comboBox on it, wrote some custom code that I wanted on its event ( Text Changed event, etc) ... I can also compile it and drop it on a new WinForms App... good. But in my sample WinForms app that I want to use it, I cannot access the properties of that combo box.. it does not list them .. properties like SelectedItems, etc... what Am I doing wrong? this is my first time creating a custom control tho. Now I want to mimic these complex spreadsheets on the web forms but I am unsure of the correct control to use. Data entry must be allowed and live calculations also need to be made similar to formulas on normal excel spreadsheets. Later on the data must be captured into an SQL table.   I'm developing a CMS of sorts, and I want to give my users the possibility of customizing the display. More precisely, I want to give them the ability to choose to display or hide the left column, the right column and/or the top div. The middle column cannot be hidden since this is where the actual content will show, whereas the other columns are for navigation or side menus. I've been looking for a way to make this as smart and flexible as possible. For now I'm using a MasterPage, but that seems to be too constraining. For instance, with MasterPage you need to add a ContentPlaceHolder control in every of your ASPX pages. What are the best practices in this area? I guess a simpler way of saying this would be "I want to create a template system over which I have complete control".

  In my application I have a tab control which has several tab items. The problem is that I want to apply a style to these tab items, but to no other (nested) tab items. Let's say we are talking about the path: /Home/Index - my control spits out JavaScript to call a function with the view name - in its exact case - e.g. someFunction('Index'). Now when I try to navigate to my view using '/home/index', the view name is returned as 'index' which is causing issues in my JavaScript as I rely on the casing for it on the JS side. Is there any way to know the exact view name (as it was defined) from the path that got mapped into this view.

• Can JQuery/JavaScript be used to write a substantial client side application?

  I have an unusual situation - I have an embedded video streaming device with a complicated UI, and I need to use an embedded web server to reproduce that UI through a web browser. I'm thinking of using JavaScript/JQuery on a C++ backend (I am NOT coding all this myself, I need to hire people for the grunt work). The embedded web server is much less powerful than a PC, so I want to write an application that runs the entire UI in the browser, and only communicates with the server to pass new program settings back and forth, get status updates from the device, and control video playback. In other words, the client gets one big page or a small number of big pages (effectively downloading the application), the application maintains significant local memory storage, and once the pages are first loaded the server never sends anything layout-related. The application has two rows of tabs to navigate ~40 menu pages, drag-and-select controls to pick cells in a grid, sorted lists, lots of standard data entry options, and it should be able to control up to 16 embedded video players at once (preferably VLC). Is this possible in JavaScript/JQuery with a C++ backend?

• How can I strip non-XHTML tags from a string in C#?

  I need to be able to remove non-XHTML tags from a string containing XHTML that has been stored in a database. The string also contains references for controls (e.g. ) inside the XHTML, but I need clean XHTML with all standard tag contents unchanged. These control tags are varied (they could be any ASP.NET control), so there are too many to go looking for each one and remove them. The way they are closed is also varied, so not all of them have closing tags, some are self closing. How can I go about doing this? I've found some HTML cleaners on-line for including in my project, but they either remove everything or just HTML encode the entire string. Also, I'm dealing with parts of XHTML documents, not entire documents - don't know if that makes a difference. Any help would be appreciated.
