• Installing Wordpress - constant PHP/MySQL extension appears missing

  I've got Win2003 w/IIS6, PHP 5 and MySQL installed. I can confirm PHP is installed correctly because I have a testMe.php that runs properly. When I run the Wordpress setup, I get informed that Your PHP installation appears to be missing the MySQL extension which is required by WordPress. But in my PHP.ini in the DYNAMIC EXTENSIONS section I have extension=php_mysql.dll extension=php_mysqli.dll I verified that mysql.dll and libmysql.dll are both in my PHP directory. I copied my libmysql.dll to the C:\Windows\System32 directory. When I try to run the initial setup for WordPress, I get this answer. I've Googled setting this up, and everything comes down to the above. I'm missing something, but none of the instructions that I've found online seem to cover whatever that is.

• Has there been a Firefox update recently?

  Trying again to ask a PROGRAMMING question because of the over-zealous closing off of what is equally a programming question before allowing the poster to clarify. The latest version of Firefox (v3.6.3) is breaking websites, mine included. I make heavy use of the Infragistic NetAdvantage controls. These, because of their heavy JavaScript reliance and occasional lack of quality control, tend to suffer through browser updates sometimes requiring a hotfix. So the question is... has there been a Firefox release recently that has either introduced a bug, tightening up of some standard, bug fix which might have broken a previous workaround (often the case) etc? I'm guessing around JavaScript but that's a guess hence the reason for asking a group of programmers...

• ASP.NET MVC Validation of ViewState MAC failed

  After publishing a new build of my ASP.NET MVC web application, I often see this exception thrown when browsing to the site: System.Web.Mvc.HttpAntiForgeryException: A required anti-forgery token was not supplied or was invalid. --- System.Web.HttpException: Validation of viewstate MAC failed. If this application is hosted by a Web Farm or cluster, ensure that configuration specifies the same validationKey and validation algorithm. AutoGenerate cannot be used in a cluster. --- System.Web.UI.ViewStateException: Invalid viewstate. This exception will continue to occur on each page I visit in my web application until I close out of Firefox. After reopening Firefox, the site works perfectly. Any idea what's going on? Additional notes: I am not using any ASP.NET web controls (there are no instances of runat="server" in my application) If I take out the <%= Html.AntiForgeryToken % from my pages, this problem seems to go away

• Trying to add AddThis to multiple items through JavaScript

• CHtmlView class and focus

  I have an SDI application written in MFC. The frame is divided into 1 row and 2 columns using a splitter window. Below are details of Row and Column (R0C0 means Row#0 and Col#0) R0C0 view is a CFormView with multiple input controls like text box, combo box etc. R0C1 view is a CHtmlView that contains HTML content relavant to the control that has input focus in the R0C0 I am able to update the HTML content and also invoke Javascript functions through my MFC code. Problem: When user clicks on the R0C1, continaing CHtmlView, the focus is now on the html page. I wish to allow the user to tab out of R0C1 using the key board and return back to R0C0. Can you help with this please? The user can obviously click on the R0C0 view using mouse but we have a user who needs to use Keyboard for using this functionality.   Hello, I've used "Google AJAX Transliteration API" and it's going well with me. http://code.google.com/apis/ajaxlanguage/documentation/referenceTransliteration.html Currently I've a project that I need all input fields in every page (input & textarea tags) to be transliteratable, while these input fields differs from page to page (dynamic). As I know, I've to call makeTransliteratable(elementIds, opt_options) method in the API call to define which input fields to make transliteratable, and in my case here I can't predefine those fields manually.   I create some dynamic report. by default, create a table with all available field and hidden by expression, therefore column hide when user want (by checkbox in aspx page) problem: my report is "right to left" therefore when hiding some column, report must shown from right, but as you know, when report render, it create table column from left, my question is how to render report from right ???? for solving this problem i create some column without data and set hidden expression != main column hidden state, therefore my problem solved but found another problem, report width!!! because page width really must 8.5in but when hiding some column, page Width not decrease and remain 15in!!! how to solve this problem ??? • Use ASP.Net server control code generation from .ashx

  I'm trying to take an existing bunch of code that was previously on a full .aspx page, and do the same stuff in a .ashx handler. The code created an HtmlTable object, added rows and cells to those rows, then added that html table the .aspx's controls collection, then added it to a div that was already on the page. I am trying to keep the code in tact but instead of putting the control into a div, actually generate the html and I'll return that in a big chunk of text that can be called via AJAX client-side. HtmlTable errors out when I try to use the InnerHtml property (says it isn't supported), and when I try RenderControl, after making first a TextWriter and next an HtmlTextWriter object, I get the error that Page cannot be null. Has anyone done this before? Any suggestions?

• Printing images in Flex

  In s Flex 3 app, I have canvas with a PNG image for a background. The image is the same width & height as the canvas. I also have some other controls in the canvas: <mx:Canvas id="form" backgroundImage="@Embed(source='images/formBkg.png')" width="640" height="480" > <mx:label .../> <mx:label .../> I print the canvas using the following code: var printJob:FlexPrintJob = new FlexPrintJob(); if (printJob.start()) { printJob.addObject(form, FlexPrintJobScaleType.SHOW_ALL); printJob.send(); } On screen it looks great, but when I print it the quality of the png degrades. It is not terrible, but not as sharp as what is shown on screen. Is there anything I can do to improve the quality of the printed png?

• iphone/ipad orientation handling

  This is more of a general question for people to provide me guidance on, basically Im learning iPad/iPhone development and have finally come across the multi-orientation support question. I have looked up a fair amount of doco, and my book "Beginning iPhone 3 Development" has a nice chapter on it. But my question is this, if I was to programatically change my controls (or even use different views for each orientation) how on earth to people maintain their code base? I can just imagine so many issues with spaghetti code/thousands of "if" checks all over the place, that it would drive me nuts to make one small change to the UI arrangement. Does anyone have experience handling this issue? What is a nice way to control it? Thanks a lot Mark

• Best code structure for arcade games

  Hi, I've developed a few arcade games so far and have the following structure in almost all of them: I have 1 file which contains a class called kernel with the following functions: init() welcome_screen() menu_screen() help_Screen() play_game() end_screen() And another file, called Game, which basically calls all these functions and controls the flow of the game. Also, I have classes for different characters, whenever required. Is this a good code structure, or should I try having different files(classes) for different functions like welcome screen, playing, help screen, etc? As in, instead of including all the code for these things in 1 file, should I be having different classes for each one of them? The only problem I think it might cause is that I would need certain variables like score, characters, etc which are common to all of them, that's why I have all these functions in a Kernel class so that all these functions can use these variables.

• How to set a control ID in ListView Template dynamically?

  A have a ListView that is rendered with multiple items. Now I want to toggle some HTML attributes with JQuery. Therefore it would be best to have access to these elements via an unique ID. But trying to create a "dynamic" and therefore unique ID by <tr runat="server" ID='<%# this.GetUniqueID() %>'> </tr> results in an error that tells me that the ID needs to be simple and cannot be set by a call to a method. I know that I can dynamically create controls in the code-behind and set the ID there. But in this case, I'd rather like to let the content be rendered by the ListView itself. That brings me to the conclusion that the idea of setting a dynically ID in the Template is totally wrong. How can I achieve the desired behaviour?

• How do I make a textbox that only accepts numbers?

  I have a windows forms app with a textbox control that I want to only accept integer values. In the past I've done this kind of validation by overloading the KeyPress event and just removing characters which didn't fit the specification. I've looked at the MaskedTextBox control but I'd like a more general solution that could work with perhaps a regular expression, or depend on the values of other controls. Ideally this would behave such that pressing a non numeric character would either produce no result or immediately provide the user with feedback about the invalid character.

• UserControl Behaviour on a Windows Form

  Hi, I have a usercontrol UC1 with a combobox and a button. From the constructor, after initializing all the controls, I am populating the combobox with an array of information brought from other class library. I have kept the UC1 on windows form. When I tried to open the form's designer I see some errors and a suggestion to rebuild to fix the errors. After searching over net I found that the logic of populating the combobox is the culprit. I changed the code with an additional check of null and the issue is fixed now. My question is, how am i able to see the same usercontrol seperatly in designer view, but not when i placed the UC1 on a form and trying to see the designer view for the form? The same combobox populating logic should affect the drawing of UC1 when I try to see it in designer view right? Thanks, AK.

• WPF Control Templating: Keeping Windows look and feel

  I'm working on a control template for an inherited TextBox class. I'd like to use this template to add additional controls with the ScrollViewer. I can achieve that goal just fine, what I can't do recreate the border in such away that it matches the Windows look and feel. I have Windows Classic as my theme on XP. Textboxes are typically shown with the standard inset border style. With the XP Fischer Price theme, borders of textbox are a flat style and light blue. Is there any way of specifying something like this in the template? Ideally it would use the theme default (grey inset for Classic, flat and light blue for fischer price theme).

• How to benchmark apache/nginx setup

  I am planning to setup nginx as reverse proxy. I will have apache to deliver my dynamic content, and nginx will deliver the static content. My configuration i have now is just Apache with fastCGI. This gives me no configuration problems and runs great. After I have set up nginx I want to run some benchmarks to see if I really got some performance increases, else i will switch back. Does anyone know how I can benchmark this type of setup? Or maybe someone did this already and have some canned results, I will be glad to hear them. PS. I know this is more a serverfault type of question, but i have seen numerous posts about apache and nginx so i thought i give it a try

• Overriding a function in Emacs Lisp

  I would like to temporarily override the kill-new function. I have a way I want to reimplement kill-new that works in only in certain contexts, but I don't want to reimplement a special version of kill-region on top of that. (kill-new is called from kill-region) Since Emacs Lisp uses dynamic scoping, this should be possible, right? (On the other hand, it seems that this would be an unsafe thing to support, and it might make me a bit nervous knowing that it is possible...) I have experimented with using let and fset, but so far have found no way to get it to work as expected. So, hopefully someone can fill in the blank in the following pseudocode: (defun my-kill-new (string &optional replace yank-handler) (message "in my-kill-new!")) • Parts of statusbar disappearing with IE BHO

  I have a C# IE BHO in use for an internal company app that is adds a pane to the statusbar with SB_SETPARTS (it mitm's the SETPARTS call and inserts an element into the array) and then draws the controls by moving them from a hidden (in-process) form with SetParent() This technique works well but it causes other parts of the statusbar to appear briefly and then disappear. Affected parts seem to be all of the panes that don't have their own hWnd, eg the "Internet | Protected Mode" and icon, and some of those icons that appear in the six panes immediately to the left. Does anyone know what is causing this? I suspect that either certain messages aren't getting to the statusbar32 control to draw the stuff, or my WindowsForms10 additions are sending out extraneous messages. Everything appears fine for about a second, and then the other parts just disappear.

• Rails session cookie not getting set

  I have a rails app that is a CMS that uses dynamic subdomains for each site. For some reason when I deployed to production the session cookie is not getting set. I'm thinking this is leading to the "Invalid Authenticity Token" errors that are being thrown everywhere. I have my production.rb setup so that I can share sessions across subdomains.   I have a running dynamic web project in Eclipse (Java EE + Maven + Spring). I am at the point where I need to integrate a persistence layer and want to use Hibernate with a mySql database.
