  • Insert fixed elements in editable iframe

    Hi, I have an editable iframe and I want to insert two DIVs at the [b]top [/b]and [b]bottom [/b]part(as header/footer) of iframe body respectively. Now, the question is : how to insert a div [b]at the top of iframe body[/b] and fix it there? (Will insertFirst() work?) Also, how to fix the footer div always [b]at the bottom of the iframe body[/b]? I tried make its position absolute and gave a margin top/bottom, but the problem comes when the body height of the iframe increases and footer DIV position does not change. I want the same thing google docs does, i.e. fixing separate part for header/footer (though google docs page is not an iframe). Any work around? Regards, Swarnendu

  • Jquery javascript - How can I let users 'undo' their modifications?

    Hi, i have a basic jquery app that allows a user to edit and manipulate some lists on a page. What I would like to do is have a button 'restore original list' that the user can press to undo his modifications. What is the best way to do this? I was thinking of just copying the DOM from the list down, and pasting it in a hidden element someplace else on the page. Is this the best way to do this? I also noticed that jquery has a .data() function which I could use if I converted the data to an array and stored it this way. What are the advantages and disadvantages? Also, I'm open to any suggestions people have if there is some method I haven't thought of. Thanks for your help!

  • jQuery Click event on object added with JavaScript not working.

    I'm work on a quiz for school but I've bumped into a problem. I got a javascript file for custom radio buttons (CUSTOM FORM ELEMNTS by Ryan Fait if it's helping). The script hides the input buttons and adds custom styled spans instead. Now what I want, when I click one of these JavaScript added spans I want to remove disabled for a button called "Next Question" which when pressed takes you to the next question. The reason for this is that I don't want people to accidently got to the next question without choosing a answer. The problem is when I press the added spans nothing happens but when I press another identical span which I have added in the html it works just as intended. The span got the class radio which is the class I'm looking for in the jQuery.     In the Lazy Load plugin's documentation (A jQuery plugin that loads images only when an event occurs) says: Event can be any jQuery event such as click or mouseover. You can also use your own custom events such as sporty or foobar. Default is to wait until user scrolls down and image appears on the window. To prevent all images to load until their grey placeholder image is clicked you could do: $("img").lazyload({ placeholder : "img/grey.gif", event : "click" }); In this case is clicking the image, but how can I trigger the image load by clicking other element rather than the image itself (say an anchor link/button)?

  • jQuery and regex for adding icons to specific links?!

    I'm using jQuery to add icons to specific links, e.g. a myspace icon for sites starting with http://myspace.com etc. However, I can't figure out how to use regular expressions (if that's even possible here), to make jQuery recognize the link either with or without "www." (I'm very bad at regular expressions in general). Here are two examples: $("a[href^='http://www.last.fm']").addClass("lastfm").attr("target", "_blank"); $("a[href^='http://livejournal.com']").addClass("livejournal").attr("target", "_blank"); They work fine, but I now I want the last.fm link to work with http://last.fm, http://www.last.fm and http://www.lastfm.de. Currently it only works for www.last.fm. I also would like to make the livejournal link work with subdomains links like http://username.livejournal.com How can I do that? Thanks in advance!

    Hi all, I'm using Wysihat in a rails project and am stumped by it's inability to bind to my textarea named post_description (model name Post field name description). The following in the source of the posts/new HTML: <div id="post_description_editor" class="editor" contenteditable="true"></div> <textarea cols="40" id="post_description" name="post[description]" rows="20" style="display: none; "></textarea> However, when I type something in the description field and click submit the post validation fails saying the description field is empty.     I'm looking for a good jQuery or CSS, or combo, library to enance my left side menu in an an intranet application. I don't like the 'hover only' expand/collapse style of the ASP.NET Menu control on its own, and I don't like the 'icon-click only' expand/collapse style of the TreeView control on its own. I plan on trying the CSS Control Adapters, to render the menu with some self-respect, i.e. as nested <ul> or <ol> elements instead of the usual orgy of tables. Beyond that, I need something to give a bit of style and menulike behaviour to these nested lists, and I would prefer a jQuery plugin for this. Which should I use?

First of all here is my code so that you can test it to see whats wrong: http://jsfiddle.net/Lzw4e/1/ I want to create a new hidden field every time the user selects from the left <select> element and remove / destroy the hidden field when the user clicks the right <select> element. I used the jquery command $("<input type='hidden' value=selectedAddFootballPlayerId>"); but when I checked of firebug I can't see any hidden field being created. I am wanting to change the behavior so that it only dismisses if they click somewhere else on the page, or a different menu.     Could someone point me in the right direction here? So it's actually within a click handler. If I understand this correctly, this snippet takes the source if the image I just clicked and strips it so I end up with only the filename. If I do an alert(filename), I get the filename only. So this is working ok. But then, it does an ajax call to a php file called "save_to_db.php" and sends data: filename. This is correct right? Then, it does a callback which does an alert + data. Does this seem correct so far? Cause my php file looks like this: <?php require("dbconnect2.php"); $uploadstring = $_POST['filename']; $sessionid = $_SESSION['id']; echo ($sessionid); mysql_query("UPDATE brukere SET brukerBakgrunn = '$uploadstring' WHERE brukerID=" .$_SESSION['id']); mysql_close(); ?> When I click the image, the jQuery snippet fires and I get the results of this php file as output for the alert box. I think that the variables somehow are empty. Because notice the echo($sessionid); which is a variable I've created just to test what the session ID is. And it returns nothing. What could be the issue here? Edit: I just tried to echo out the $uploadstring variable as well and it also returns nothing. It's like the jQuery snippet doesn't even pass the variable on to the php file?

    Hi I have three images being used to indicate an application icon state and I'm attempting to use css to do this. No problem with the original or hover states: #myDIV { background-image: url(icons/homeBlack.png); } #myDIV:hover { background-image: url(icons/homeWhite.png); } but I need to do two other things: 1) when the item is clicked it should use the third image $("#myDIV").click(function(event){ // change this button $(this).css("background-image", "url(icons/homeBlue.png)"); }); 2) if it is clicked again it should not apply the third image again because it's already applied - so it needs to check if it has been applied My questions are: 1) simply am I missing a css trick somewhere or is Jquery the best way to do this? 2) can I check which background-image is in place and how? I can't seem to find anything in JQuery that would allow me to determine which image is "currently" in place. Thanks in advance for any help.

  • how can I get jquery.sIFR plugin to display sIFR-alternate text for print?

    I'm struggling with this. I've used the jquery sIFR plugin as opposed to sIFR it prevented conflicts with other jquery I am using on my pages. It works fine in its prime function: replacing html text with Flash. However, the .sIFR-alternate class is given an inline style of 'opacity: 0' which persists when flashblock is on. So alternate text does not appear. Neither does it appear when printng the page (yes I have included styles for sIFR-print). I've tried replacing the opacity:0 inline style with display: none but this causes height issues with the output flash. Any one else had this or have any ideas?

    I have a situation where I'm wrapping an image with a span and I want to remove all the CSS from the image and apply it to the span. Is there a way to do this with JQuery? JQuery: $(img).wrap('<span />'); Style Sheet: img { border: 5px solid red; padding: 10px; … } I would like do to do this with out editing the HTML or CSS. For example adding a class to the image would not work very well in my situation. I need a way to truly remove the CSS from one element and place it on another.

    I am using tinymce. It works great. But i want the feature in tinymce where user can upload the images from local box/or from public websites. I am using tomcat ,jsps and core java.I found couple of free third party libraries like ibrowser ,imanager,jbimages etc but all of them using PHP which looks like does not fit in my existing project (i dont know PHP but i tried to integrate one of these in my existing project they don't work and gives some weird error.) Really i am not sure how to have this feature in tinymce(if some other editor support it with jsps i can try that)?
