• After each command tmux prints: ps1_update: command not found

  On Linux Ubuntu 11.04, after each command (cd, ls, vim...) successful or not, tmux prints out as a last line ps1_update: command not found. Is there any config option I am missing? • phpMyAdmin setup issues

  I am trying to follow the tutorial here to setup the user and pass. It says there that "this section is only applicable if your MySQL server is running with --skip-show-database". First question is, how do I check if MySQl server is running with --skip-show-database? Is there any way I can access phpMyAdmin SQL query window without logging in? Otherwise I'd have to execute this SQL from command line. I am also getting this: Cannot load mcrypt extension. Please check your PHP configuration. I have added mcrypt.so to php.ini and doing the following command proves that I have it. I have searched for a concise tutorial that covers setting up a DNS with a nameserver that hosts (my) or the site. I am fully aware that this is not recommended and am using this for my learning purposes. Getting to the question, due to the lack of information in tutorials I looked at (nothing about rfc 1918 and no example of swapping these with ISP IP) is my router modification going to help me as it does not seem to be. I have also tried as recommended using my ISP IP instead of the values I posted. My site never propagated to my nameserver. What could be causing this? I have run dig thejarbar.org @88.89.190.171 and get an authorative response. Can anyone assist me with the final steps I may be missing here?

• Why is Git telling me "Your branch is ahead of 'origin/master' by 11 commits." and how do I get it t

  I'm a Git newbie. I recently moved a Rails project from Subversion to Git. I followed the tutorial here: http://www.simplisticcomplexity.com/2008/03/05/cleanly-migrate-your-subversion-repository-to-a-git-repository/ I am also using unfuddle.com to store my code. I make changes on my Mac laptop on the train to/from work and then push them to unfuddle when I have a network connection using the following command: git push unfuddle master I use Capistrano for deployments and pull code from the unfuddle repository using the master branch. Lately I've noticed the following message when I run "git status" on my laptop: # On branch master # Your branch is ahead of 'origin/master' by 11 commits. # nothing to commit (working directory clean) And I'm confused as to why. I thought my laptop was the origin... but don't know if either the fact that I originally pulled from Subversion or push to Unfuddle is what's causing the message to show up. How can I: Find out where Git thinks 'origin/master' is? If it's somewhere else, how do I turn my laptop into the 'origin/master'? Get this message to go away. It makes me think Git is unhappy about something. My mac is running Git version 1.6.0.1. Then I believe I checked out a fresh copy from unfuddle to the geekfor directory. • Using FFmpeg in c#?

  So i know its a fairly big challenge but i want to write a basic movie player/converter in c# using the FFmpeg library. However the first obstacle i need to overcome is wrapping the FFmpeg library in c#. I downloaded ffmpeg but couldn't compile it on windows, so i downloaded a precompiled version for me. Ok awesome. Then i started looking for c# wrappers. I have looked around and have found a few wrappers such as SharpFFmpeg (http://sourceforge.net/projects/sharpffmpeg/) and ffmpeg-sharp (http://code.google.com/p/ffmpeg-sharp/). First of all i wanted to use ffmpeg-sharp as its LGPL and SharpFFmpeg is GPL. However it had quite a few compile errors. Turns out it was written for the mono compiler, i tried compiling it with mon but couldn't figure out how. I then started to manually fix the compiler errors myself, but came across a few scary ones and thought i'd better leave those alone. So i gave up on ffmpeg-sharp. Then i looked at SharpFFmpeg and it looks like what i want, all the functions P/Invoked for me. However its GPL? Both the AVCodec.cs and AVFormat.cs files look like ports of avcodec.c and avformat.c which i reckon i could port myself? Then not have to worry about licencing. But i wan't to get this right before i go ahead and start coding. Should I: Write my own c++ library for interacting with ffmpeg, then have my c# program talk to the c++ library in order to play/convert videos etc. OR Port avcodec.h and avformat.h (is that all i need?) to c# by using a whole lot of DllImports and write it entirely in c#? First of all consider that i'm not great at c++ as i rarely use it but i know enough to get around. The reason i'm thinking #1 might be the better option is that most FFmpeg tutorials are in c++ and i'd also have more control over memory management that if i was to do it in c#. What do you think? Also would you happen to have any usefull links (perhaps a tutorial) for using FFmpeg? EDIT: spelling mistakes

• Can't create a fullscreen WPF popup

  Using WPF .NET 4.0 in VS2010 RTM: I can't create a fullscreen WPF popup. If I create a popup that is sized 50% width and 100% height everything works fine, but if I try to create a "full screen" popup sized to 100% width and height it ends up displaying at 100% width and 75% height... the bottom is truncated. Note: The width and height are actually being expressed in pixels in code, I'm using percent to make the situation a little more understandable... It "feels" like there is some sort of limit preventing the area of a popup from exceeding ~75% of the total area of the screen. • WPF storyboard animation issue when using VisualBrush

  Hey guys, I was playing around with storyboards, a flipping animation, and visual brushes. I have encountered an issue though. Below is the xaml and code-behind of a small sample I quickly put together to try to demonstrate the problem. When you first start the app, you are presented with a red square and two buttons. If you click the "Flip" button, the red square will "flip" over and a blue one will appear. In reality, all that is happening is that the scale of the width of the StackPanel that the red square is in is being decreased until it reaches zero and then the StackPanel where a blue square is, whose width is initially scaled to zero, has its width increased. If you click the "Flip" button a few times, the animation looks ok and smooth. Now, if you hit the "Reflection" button, a reflection of the red/blue buttons is added to their respective StackPanels. Hitting the "Flip" button now will still cause the flip animation but it is no longer a smooth animation. The StackPanels width often does not shrink to zero. The width shrinks somewhat but then just stops before being completely invisible. Then the other StackPanel appears as usual. The only thing that changed was adding the reflection, which is just a VisualBrush. Below is the code. Does anyone have any idea why the animations are different between the two cases (stalling in the second case)? } } } } UPDATE: I have been testing this some more to try to find out what is causing the issue I am seeing and I believe I found what is causing the issue. Below I have pasted new xaml and code-behind. The new sample below is very similar to the original sample, with a few minor modifications. The xaml basically consists of two stack panels, each containing two borders. The second border in each stack panel is a visual brush (a reflection of the border above it). Now, when I click the "Flip" button, one stack panel gets its ScaleX reduced to zero, while the second stack panel, whose initial ScaleX is zero, gets its ScaleX increased to 1. This animation gives the illusion of flipping. There are also two textblocks which display the scale factor of each stack panel. I added those to try to diagnose my issue. The issue is (as described in the oringal post) that the flipping animation is not smooth. Every time I hit the flip button, the animation starts but whenever the ScaleX factor gets to around .14 to .16, the animation looks like it stalls and the stack panels never have there ScaleX reduced to zero, so they never totally disappear. Now, the strange thing is that if I change the Width/Height properties of the "frontBorder" and "backBorder" borders defined below to use explict values instead of Auto, such as Width=105 and Height=75 (to match the button in the border) everything works fine. The animation stutters the first two or three times I run it but after that the flips are smooth and flawless. (BTW, when an animation is run for the first time, is there something going on in the background, some sort of initialization, that causes it to be a little slow the first time?) Is it possible that the Auto Width/Height of the borders are causing the issue? I can reproduce it everytime but I am not sure why Auto Width/Height would be a problem. Below is the sample.   I just finished the Netbeans introduction to Hibernate tutorial ( http://netbeans.org/kb/docs/web/hibernate-webapp.html#01 ) and I am getting the following error: "This page calls for XML namespace declared with prefix br but no taglibrary exists" Now, I have seen a similar question somewhere else: http://forums.sun.com/thread.jspa?threadID=5430327 but the answer is not listed there. Or, if it is, then I am clearly missing it -- line one of my index.xhtml file reads "http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml". It also does not explain why, when I reload localhost:8080, the message disappears. • C# MP3 Player using winmm.dll

  I'm trying to bash together a (very) rough MP3 player during my lunch hour, and so far I've got it to play the files, and I'm working on a way of building a list of filenames to enable random songs, but I think I've just hit a snag. Is there a way of knowing when the currently playing MP3 has finished? An event or some such? As it stands I don't think I'd be able to have playlists etc unless this was possible due to it stopping after every playback. • Best ASP.NET E-Commerce Framework (aspDotNetStoreFront, AbleCommerce, BVCommerce, MediaChase,...)

  I need a full-featured asp.net E-Commerce solution for a project. It needs to be easily extensible as I need to extend it to integrate with a custom Flash based personalization engine. It should also have a great administrative back-end that handles inventory tracking, report, labels, shipping, ... so that the client can really use it as the basis for their business. I've used quite a few different E-Commerce systems including OSCommerce, Zen Cart, Catalook, and eTailer. While I was impressed with Zen Cart and eTailer, this project is big enough that I want to try a more serious, commercial offering. I'm particularly interested in thoughts on aspdotnetstorefront, BVCommerce, AbleCommerce, and MediaChase. [UPDATE] I've done quite a bit of evaluation since I posted this question and will give some of my findings below: BVCommerce - The price point is nice, the product seems fairly well regarded, and I've heard good things about customizing/extending it, it just doesn't seem like it's going to meet my needs as an Top Tier ECommerce solution. After viewing the tutorial videos, the Admin interface just seems too basic and outdated. aspDotNetStorefront - The integration with DotNetNuke was it's biggest selling point for me but after reading peoples opinions, it's integration seems quite weak. It's sounds like there's a significant learning curve and the architecture just doesn't sound like it's as clean as it should be. AbleCommerce - After a rather thorough evaluation, I have selected AbleCommerce for at least my next project. The Admin interface is beautiful and has a nice list of features. The E-Commerce portion of the user side is very well done, highly skin-able (using Master Pages and a couple other techniques), and the checkout workflow has all the features I need while still being very clean. Source to the API can be bought for $500 but you generally won't need it. There are some 3rd party modules available but there's not currently a large market for these. The biggest glaring weakness of AbleCommerce I've found is their CMS capabilities are very limited and not at all well suited for a non-technical user to make most site content updates. But I have a good solution for that that I plan adapting into AbleCommerce. They will automatically generate a site for you to play with to your heart's content for 30 days. It is defniitely worth checking out.

• Why does Sharepoint 2010 Web Reference work, but Service Reference does not

  Sharepoint is setup to use NTLM authentication. When I reference http://myserver/Sites/Ops/_vti_bin/Lists.asmx?WSDL as a Web Reference, I can call the methods and get valid responses. When I reference the same url as a Service Reference, the server throws an exception when calling methods. My account is admin on the Sharepoint Farm.   I have a working controller for another stored procedure in the database, but I am trying to test another. • Revisiting .NET, but what should I focus on?

  After about a two-year hiatus, I'm brushing up on my .NET skills to find a .NET job (my previous two positions have very little development, or development using legacy technologies, so apart from a few very minor apps I have not touched .NET in close to two years). I'm aware of things like ASP.NET MVC, and I have previously read on things like NHibernate and DI/IOC, albeit I have yet to use them apart from very trivial "Hello World" type applications. I have a subscription to Rob Conery's Tekpub website and occasionally watch these videos when I have free time. My concern is this: I don't live in a very technical area. I would be surprised if any but the most tech-savvy companies have heard of, let alone use, ASP.NET MVC, NHibernate (or even LINQ/EF), or know about IoC. I would be willing to bet a large sum of money that 95% of the possible jobs I could obtain will use the following: Visual Source Safe, if any VCS at all ASP.NET 2.0 Webforms (3.5 if lucky) Raw ADO.NET on top of a very thin implementation of the Gateway pattern Stored Procedures in the database for most CRUD operations Gratuitous use of code-behind, with a Service layer if I'm lucky If I were extremely lucky, I might find a shop that has heard of ORMs and either uses one, or has wrote their own data abstraction. Also if I were lucky, the company would be using Model-View-Presenter. In light of this I'm not sure what I should focus on learning. Personally, I would prefer to be using the latest stuff - ASP.NET MVC, NHibernate, jQuery, WCF etc. Reality says I should go back to the basics, since it looks like most potential opportunities aren't going to be anywhere near the cutting edge, or anywhere close to it. And, as much as I would like to find a position and start to show the other developers the benefits, in my past experience this has usually resulted in my being fired for "not being a team player" and doing things the bad old way. So, I am curious how you would approach a situation like this? What should I focus on, in order to A) Reaquaint myself with .NET, and B) Prepare myself to obtain a .NET job again that is more than likely going to use techniques that I and most other knowledgeable developers will scoff at?

I am new to c# (since I am a Delphi developer) anyway I was able to create a simple CLR stored procedures by following a tutorial. My task is to move a file from the client file system to the server file system (the server can be accessed using remote IP, so I cannot use a shared folder as destination, this is why I need a CLR stored procedure). So I plan to: 1) store from Delphi the file in a varbinary(max) column of a temporary table 2) call the CLR stored procedure to create a file at the desired path using the data contained in the varbinary(max) field Imagine I need to move C:\MyFile.pdf to Z:\MyFile.pdf, where C: is a harddrive on local system and Z: is an harddrive on the server. I provide the code below (not working) that someone can modify to make it work? Here I suppose to have a table called MyTable with two fields: ID (int) and DATA (varbinary(max)). Please note it doesn't make a difference if the table is a real temporary table or just a table where I temporarly store the data. I would appreciate if some exception handling code is there (so that I can manage an "impossible to save file" exception). I would like to be able to write a new file or overwrite the file if already existing. • jBASE 4.1 Database Noobster Questions

  I am a software developer with devlopment experience in C#, C++ .Net alongwith SQL Server 2005/08, Oracle and mysql. But somehow i dont get jBASE to work at Windows XP SP3 machine. My goal is setup user accounts, create database on a JBASE ainstallation, authenticate and backup/restore few table via a C++ program. And i dont need to do it with builtin backup/restore tools of jBASE. I am able to install jBASe 4.1 aling with all its accessories on my WINXPSP3 machine. I was able to run the jSlimserver and TEMENOUS server along with licnesing server. I was able to add the license key as well. But after that what i was supposed to do? i have no idea about it. The docs and online help doesnt answer a simple question of how to create a database! The google search results from the jbase site all go to the 404 Pages! Can a jBASE expert guide to the following steps: Create a jBASE database. Create users Authenticate via those users Connect to database Create tables and insert data. Connect via a C++ or C# program to connect to jBASE DB and backup/restore tables. I know that this is too much too ask but i dont get to get the JBASE system. I cant get it to work on my System somehow. Btw, jdc and jexloree doesnt seem to do anything. I have checked that enironmental variables for jBASE are setup correctly and i have verified them. There are no extra JRE or JDK installations on my system. Besides all that, only licensing client, slim server and temenous server seem to run and listen for connections and no other execuatable ever seems to work. A simple tutorial to achieve the objective will be highly appreciated. Also if anyone can point out the mistake that i have done or anything i might need to check, then please do so.   Hello I'm trying to start with autoconf / automake for a new project. To get started, I'm reading "Using GNU Autotools" and trying to build the Hello-World-Tutorial. The required files from page 96 (real Page=105 because it's a LaTeX-Presentation) configure.ac, Makefile.am and src/Makefile.am look exactly as stated in the document. After that I tried: $ autoreconf --install configure.ac:2: option `-Wall' not recognized autoreconf: automake failed with exit status: 1 Well, it seems that automake doesn't like the second line: AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE([-Wall -Werror foreign]) Therefore I executed: $ autoreconf -v --install autoreconf: Entering directory `.' autoreconf: configure.ac: not using Gettext autoreconf: running: aclocal autoreconf: configure.ac: tracing autoreconf: configure.ac: not using Libtool autoreconf: running: /usr/bin/autoconf autoreconf: running: /usr/bin/autoheader autoreconf: running: automake --add-missing --copy --no-force configure.ac:2: option `-Wall' not recognized autoreconf: automake failed with exit status: 1 You can see easily that autoconf runs automake --add-missing --copy --no-force which I repeated with the verbose-option. • Lambda Expression to be used in Select() query

  Hi, I am trying to build a lambda expression, containing two assignments (as shown further down), that I can then pass to a Queryable.Select() method. I am trying to pass a string variable into a method and then use that variable to build up the lambda expression so that I can use it in a LINQ Select query. My reasoning behind it is that I have a SQL Server datasource with many column names, I am creating a charting application that will allow the user to select, say by typing in the column name, the actual column of data they want to view in the y-axis of my chart, with the x-axis always being the DateTime. Therefore, they can essentially choose what data they chart against the DateTime value (it’s a data warehouse type app). I have, for example, a class to store the retrieved data in, and hence use as the chart source of: public class AnalysisChartSource { public DateTime Invoicedate { get; set; } public Decimal yValue { get; set; } } I have (purely experimentaly) built an expression tree for the Where clause using the String value and that works fine: public void GetData(String yAxis) { using (DataClasses1DataContext db = new DataClasses1DataContext()) { var data = this.FunctionOne().AsQueryable<AnalysisChartSource>(); //just to get some temp data in.... • Android stream to Wowza

  I feel very confused about Android streaming to wowza. I am doing a video conference using rtmp cross-platform, but Android doesn't eat RTMP. Therefore I need to find another way to do it. Upstreaming I found a new open-source app called spydroid-ipcamera. It is using rtp, sending udp packets to computer, and opens it in vlc using the following sdp v=0 s=Unnamed m=video 5006 RTP/AVP 96 a=rtpmap:96 H264/90000 a=fmtp:96 packetization-mode=1;profile-level-id=420016;sprop-parameter-sets=Z0IAFukBQHsg,aM4BDyA=; But it can't work. Then I follow wowza tutorial and stream to it and then play again in VLC. That works! I wrote it in http://code.google.com/p/spydroid-ipcamera/issues/detail?id=2 However when I want to add audio in the packet, it fails to work. I am streaming H.264/AAC with Mp4 Second I don't understand sdp. So how can I make video conference upstreaming part using this apps. Android ----(UDP Port:5006)----> PC (SDP file) and then Wowza read the SDP file ------> VLC I think in this way the system cannot handle more than 1 client. sdp can only hold 1 port, any idea or actually it wont' work? Also Wowza need to set the stream before we stream it, so does it mean that I should not follow this way to do it? Sorry my English is poor, I hope you guys understand.

• How to override PHP configuration when running in CGI mode

  There are some tutorials out there telling me how to override PHP configuration when it is running in CGI mode. But I'm still confused because lots of them assume that the server is running on Linux. While I need to do that also in Windows. My hosting is indeed using Linux but my local development computer is using Windows XP with Xampp 1.7.3. So I need to do that in my local computer first, then I want to change the configuration on hosting server. The PHP in my hosting server is already run as CGI while in my local computer still run as Apache module. At this point, the processes that I understand are: Change PHP to work in CGI mode. I did this by commenting these two line in "httpd-xampp.conf": # LoadFile "C:/xampp/php/php5ts.dll" # LoadModule php5_module modules/php5apache2_2.dll Create "cgi-bin" directory in DocumentRoot. My DocumentRoot is in "D:\www\" (I'm using apache with virtual host). So it is now "D:\www\cgi-bin". Change the default "cgi-bin" directory settings from "C:/xampp/cgi-bin/" to "D:\www\cgi-bin": ScriptAlias /cgi-bin/ "D:/www/cgi-bin/" <Directory "D:\www\cgi-bin"> Options MultiViews Indexes SymLinksIfOwnerMatch Includes ExecCGI AllowOverride All Allow from All </Directory> At this point, my PHP is now running as CGI. I checked this with phpinfo(). It tells me that Server API is now CGI/FastCGI. Now I want to override php configuration. I copied 'php.ini' file to "D:\www\cgi-bin" and modify upload_max_filesize setting from 128M to 10M. Create 'php.cgi' file in "D:\www\cgi-bin" and put these code inside the file: #!/bin/sh /usr/local/cpanel/cgi-sys/php5 -c /home/user/public_html/cgi-bin/ That's it. I'm stuck at this point. All of tutorials tell me to create 'php.cgi' file and put shell code inside the file. How to do the 6th step on Windows? I know the next step is to create handler in .htaccess file to load that 'php.cgi'. And also, because I will also need to change PHP configuration on my hosting server (Linux), is the 6th step above right? Some tutorial tells to insert these line instead of above: #!/bin/sh export PHPRC=/site/ini/1 exec /cgi-bin/php5.cgi I'm sorry if my question is not clear.
