  • sku code as description in Google Analytics

    - by dreagan
In the Google Analytics ecommerce tracing script you must provide for every item and SKU code. I have this code for every product I'm selling and up until now I have always provided it in the _addItem method. But when reviewing that data in the ecommerce module of Google Analytics, I have no real, no readable data about my SKU sales. I know what product has been sold, due to the product name I provide. But when clicking through to the SKU-level, I know nothing more, since all I can see there are SKU codes. Is it possible and wise to replace the SKU code with the following template? "product-name colour-name size-name" This way, it should still be a unique field, but more readable afterwards.

  • should i take Exam 70-515 or should i wait for Exam 70-480 ? [closed]

    - by Filip
As it states on Microsoft site exam 70-515 is scheduled to retire July 31, 2013. His successor is suppose to be exam 70-480 in my understanding. I know most of the stuff in exam 70-515 but it will take me like one mount to read the book from Microsoft Press Resource Center and get ready for the exam, also i will be paying for the exam not the company i work for. So i think it is better to start reading books and forums that concentrate on how and for what will be exam 70-480 then paying for something that will not be valued for ~ 1 year from now. Whats your thoughts/suggestions ?

  • Uploading a file automatically for speed test?

    - by Abhi
I am building a Web UI for a device for internet connection and one of the requirements in it is a speed test. I know the basic concept of how speed test works. A file is downloaded for a limited time then the same file is uploaded again and the speed is tracked at regular intervals. Downloading the file is not an issue, but how am I supposed to upload the file without the client knowing that the file is getting uploaded? I've read through a lot of documentation, but I'm still not able to get the answer to how I will upload the file from clients machine without asking him to select the file.

  • Jump handling and gravity

    - by sprawl
I'm new to game development and am looking for some help on improving my jump handling for a simple side scrolling game I've made. I would like to make the jump last longer if the key is held down for the full length of the jump, otherwise if the key is tapped, make the jump not as long. Currently, how I'm handling the jumping is the following: Player.prototype.jump = function () { // Player pressed jump key if (this.isJumping === true) { // Set sprite to jump state this.settings.slice = 250; if (this.isFalling === true) { // Player let go of jump key, increase rate of fall this.settings.y -= this.velocity; this.velocity -= this.settings.gravity * 2; } else { // Player is holding down jump key this.settings.y -= this.velocity; this.velocity -= this.settings.gravity; } } if (this.settings.y >= 240) { // Player is on the ground this.isJumping = false; this.isFalling = false; this.velocity = this.settings.maxVelocity; this.settings.y = 240; } } I'm setting isJumping on keydown and isFalling on keyup. While it works okay for simple use, I'm looking for a better way handle jumping and gravity. It's a bit buggy if the gravity is increased (which is why I had to put the last y setting in the last if condition in there) on keyup, so I'd like to know a better way to do it. Where are some resources I could look at that would help me better understand how to handle jumping and gravity? What's a better approach to handling this? Like I said, I'm new to game development so I could be doing it completely wrong. Any help would be appreciated.

  • Mock RequireJS define dependencies with config.map

    - by Aligned
Originally posted on: http://geekswithblogs.net/Aligned/archive/2014/08/18/mock-requirejs-define-dependencies-with-config.map.aspxI had a module dependency, that I’m pulling down with RequireJS that I needed to use and write tests against. In this case, I don’t care about the actual implementation of the module (it’s simple enough that I’m just avoiding some AJAX calls). EDIT: make sure you look at the bottom example after the edit before using the config.map approach. I found that there is an easier way. I did not want to change the constructor of the consumer as I had a chain of changes that would have to be made and that would have been to invasive for this task. I found a question on StackOverflow with a short, but helpful answer from “Artem Oboturov”. We can use the config.map from RequireJs to achieve this. Here is some code: A module example (“usefulModule” in Common/Modules/usefulModule.js): define([], function() { "use strict"; var testMethod = function() { ... }; // add more functionality of the module return { testMethod; } }); A consumer of usefulModule example: define([ "Commmon/Modules/usefulModule" ], function(usefulModule) { "use strict"; var consumerModule = function(){ var self = this; // add functionality of the module } }); Using config.map in the html of the test runner page (and in your Karma config –> I’m still trying to figure this out): map: {'*': { // replace usefulModule with a mock 'Common/Modules/usefulModule': '/Tests/Specs/Common/usefulModuleMock.js' } } With the new mapping, Require will load usefulModuleMock.js from Tests/Specs/Common instead of the real implementation. Some of the answers on StackOverflow mentioned Squire.js, which looked interesting, but I wasn’t ready to introduce a new library at this time. That’s all you need to be able to mock a depency in RequireJS. However, there are many good cases when you should pass it in through the constructor instead of this approach.   EDIT: After all that, here’s another, probably better way: The consumer class, updated: define([ "Commmon/Modules/usefulModule" ], function(UsefulModule) { "use strict"; var consumerModule = function(){ var self = this; self.usefulModule = new UsefulModule(); // add functionality of the module } }); Jasmine test: define([ "consumerModule", "/UnitTests/Specs/Common/Mocks/usefulModuleMock.js" ], function(consumerModule, UsefulModuleMock){ describe("when mocking out the module", function(){ it("should probably just override the property", function(){ var consumer = new consumerModule(); consumer.usefulModule = new UsefulModuleMock(); }); }); });   Thanks for letting me think out loud :-).

  • How to learn programming in Kindergarten?

    - by Kinder
Last time I asked for peer review on a new language called KinderScript, which its Code Division Multiple Access succinct style looked like white noise that saturated two police reviewer's narrow band. The question has only 1 hour life with 38 views shortly after the shouting of shut-up-leave-now. Ok, That's totally off topic. That is not the question. I'm asking a peer review on the design of KinderScript [1], within the context of an intriguing: "How to learn programming in kindergarten?" [1] http://code.google.com/p/ac-me/downloads/detail?name=kinder.pdf&can=2&q= Thanks for any feedback. No police please. I choose this forum to ask because here has not only many professional but also many new leaners. Both views are appreciated.

  • Building non (jsp/freemarker) template based website [on hold]

    - by Ismail Marmoush
If my web app is supposed to work in one page, something like asana.com, and I wanted to make the whole website free of templates, meaning I would serve data and make js/mobile app call them, or even let other developers create new interfaces for it. So is it acceptable to have such a design for such a problem ? or you think I would eventually have use jsps/freemarker for a certain case. I found something when I started asking the right questions, here is it wiki: Single Page Application

  • Asked to make a 2d platformer [on hold]

    - by Fendorio
I've been tasked with creating a simple 2D platformer top be put on a webpage. The game is pretty much a simple Super Mario type game. I've been playing around with C# and C++ now for a couple years, so I'm aware that Unity offers a route to making a web game but for such a simplistic project i'm afraid that using unity would be overkill... i.e. slow, nobody wants to install the web player for a game with < 5 mins playtime. Html5 canvas/JS seems to jump out at me over flash, as that seems to be being pushed out. Any suggestions on a route to take would be greatly appreciated

  • Where does jQuery fit-in with frameworks like JavaScriptMVC, BackboneJS, SproutCore and Knockout?

    - by Prisoner ZERO
I have been happily using JQuery for the last 2 years and have been quite sucessful creating some really cool functionality with it...so I am very comfortable with it. I also beleive the future of the web will continue on the current client-side path. However... The next challenge seems to be coming in the form of various controller frameworks: KnockoutJS, BackboneJS, SproutCore, JavaScriptMVC (the list goes on). Additonally, there are some great AMD Loader tools for use like RequireJS or LabJS etc. However, jQuery now has define and then capabilities baked-in. It's getting harder-and-harder to keep track of it all... And now, my task seems to be to evaluate/decide-on a strategic-direction for using some form of either an MVC or MVVM framework client-side...but I have so many questions. Where does JQuery fit-in with the various controller-frameworks mentioned above? Is JQuery used alongside each or do some of them have their own 'JQuery-styled version' baked-in? Are tools like RequireJS still needed if you implement one of the various controller-frameworks mentioned above? Does the define and then capabilities baked-into JQuery now supercede the AMD Loader mentioned above? Which one seems most modular? (see notes below) NOTES: One thing I don't want in any future-framework is the requirement of having to take-in vast amounts of functionality that I don't use. Meaning, I would rather use a framework that is truly modular. For example, to use jQuery UI you have to take-in a lot other core libraries that you might not actually use. I will be experimenting with each one, but some REAL feedback would be great. I've seen some 'similar' questions, but none have really answered the above skew. Thanks in advance!

  • Rotate a vector by given degrees (errors when value over 90)

    - by Ivan
    I created a function to rotate a vector by a given number of degrees. It seems to work fine when given values in the range -90 to +90. Beyond this, the amount of rotation decreases, i.e., I think objects are rotating the same amount for 80 and 100 degrees. I think this diagram might be a clue to my problem, but I don't quite understand what it's showing. Must I use a different trig function depending on the radians value? The programming examples I've been able to find look similar to mine (not varying the trig functions). Vector2D.prototype.rotate = function(angleDegrees) { var radians = angleDegrees * (Math.PI / 180); var ca = Math.cos(radians); var sa = Math.sin(radians); var rx = this.x*ca - this.y*sa; var ry = this.x*sa + this.y*ca; this.x = rx; this.y = ry; };

  • Cancelling Route Navigation in AngularJS Controllers

    - by dwahlin
If you’re new to AngularJS check out my AngularJS in 60-ish Minutes video tutorial or download the free eBook. Also check out The AngularJS Magazine for up-to-date information on using AngularJS to build Single Page Applications (SPAs). Routing provides a nice way to associate views with controllers in AngularJS using a minimal amount of code. While a user is normally able to navigate directly to a specific route, there may be times when a user triggers a route change before they’ve finalized an important action such as saving data. In these types of situations you may want to cancel the route navigation and ask the user if they’d like to finish what they were doing so that their data isn’t lost. In this post I’ll talk about a technique that can be used to accomplish this type of routing task.   The $locationChangeStart Event When route navigation occurs in an AngularJS application a few events are raised. One is named $locationChangeStart and the other is named $routeChangeStart (there are other events as well). At the current time (version 1.2) the $routeChangeStart doesn’t provide a way to cancel route navigation, however, the $locationChangeStart event can be used to cancel navigation. If you dig into the AngularJS core script you’ll find the following code that shows how the $locationChangeStart event is raised as the $browser object’s onUrlChange() function is invoked:   $browser.onUrlChange(function (newUrl) { if ($location.absUrl() != newUrl) { if ($rootScope.$broadcast('$locationChangeStart', newUrl, $location.absUrl()).defaultPrevented) { $browser.url($location.absUrl()); return; } $rootScope.$evalAsync(function () { var oldUrl = $location.absUrl(); $location.$$parse(newUrl); afterLocationChange(oldUrl); }); if (!$rootScope.$$phase) $rootScope.$digest(); } }); .csharpcode, .csharpcode pre { font-size: small; color: black; font-family: consolas, "Courier New", courier, monospace; background-color: #ffffff; /*white-space: pre;*/ } .csharpcode pre { margin: 0em; } .csharpcode .rem { color: #008000; } .csharpcode .kwrd { color: #0000ff; } .csharpcode .str { color: #006080; } .csharpcode .op { color: #0000c0; } .csharpcode .preproc { color: #cc6633; } .csharpcode .asp { background-color: #ffff00; } .csharpcode .html { color: #800000; } .csharpcode .attr { color: #ff0000; } .csharpcode .alt { background-color: #f4f4f4; width: 100%; margin: 0em; } .csharpcode .lnum { color: #606060; } The key part of the code is the call to $broadcast. This call broadcasts the $locationChangeStart event to all child scopes so that they can be notified before a location change is made. To handle the $locationChangeStart event you can use the $rootScope.on() function. For this example I’ve added a call to $on() into a function that is called immediately after the controller is invoked:   function init() { //initialize data here.. //Make sure they're warned if they made a change but didn't save it //Call to $on returns a "deregistration" function that can be called to //remove the listener (see routeChange() for an example of using it) onRouteChangeOff = $rootScope.$on('$locationChangeStart', routeChange); } This code listens for the $locationChangeStart event and calls routeChange() when it occurs. The value returned from calling $on is a “deregistration” function that can be called to detach from the event. In this case the deregistration function is named onRouteChangeOff (it’s accessible throughout the controller). You’ll see how the onRouteChangeOff function is used in just a moment.   Cancelling Route Navigation The routeChange() callback triggered by the $locationChangeStart event displays a modal dialog similar to the following to prompt the user:     Here’s the code for routeChange(): function routeChange(event, newUrl) { //Navigate to newUrl if the form isn't dirty if (!$scope.editForm.$dirty) return; var modalOptions = { closeButtonText: 'Cancel', actionButtonText: 'Ignore Changes', headerText: 'Unsaved Changes', bodyText: 'You have unsaved changes. Leave the page?' }; modalService.showModal({}, modalOptions).then(function (result) { if (result === 'ok') { onRouteChangeOff(); //Stop listening for location changes $location.path(newUrl); //Go to page they're interested in } }); //prevent navigation by default since we'll handle it //once the user selects a dialog option event.preventDefault(); return; } .csharpcode, .csharpcode pre { font-size: small; color: black; font-family: consolas, "Courier New", courier, monospace; background-color: #ffffff; /*white-space: pre;*/ } .csharpcode pre { margin: 0em; } .csharpcode .rem { color: #008000; } .csharpcode .kwrd { color: #0000ff; } .csharpcode .str { color: #006080; } .csharpcode .op { color: #0000c0; } .csharpcode .preproc { color: #cc6633; } .csharpcode .asp { background-color: #ffff00; } .csharpcode .html { color: #800000; } .csharpcode .attr { color: #ff0000; } .csharpcode .alt { background-color: #f4f4f4; width: 100%; margin: 0em; } .csharpcode .lnum { color: #606060; } Looking at the parameters of routeChange() you can see that it accepts an event object and the new route that the user is trying to navigate to. The event object is used to prevent navigation since we need to prompt the user before leaving the current view. Notice the call to event.preventDefault() at the end of the function. The modal dialog is shown by calling modalService.showModal() (see my previous post for more information about the custom modalService that acts as a wrapper around Angular UI Bootstrap’s $modal service). If the user selects “Ignore Changes” then their changes will be discarded and the application will navigate to the route they intended to go to originally. This is done by first detaching from the $locationChangeStart event by calling onRouteChangeOff() (recall that this is the function returned from the call to $on()) so that we don’t get stuck in a never ending cycle where the dialog continues to display when they click the “Ignore Changes” button. A call is then made to $location.path(newUrl) to handle navigating to the target view. If the user cancels the operation they’ll stay on the current view. Conclusion The key to canceling routes is understanding how to work with the $locationChangeStart event and cancelling it so that route navigation doesn’t occur. I’m hoping that in the future the same type of task can be done using the $routeChangeStart event but for now this code gets the job done. You can see this code in action in the Customer Manager application available on Github (specifically the customerEdit view). Learn more about the application here.

  • Setting the values of a struct array from JS to GLSL

    - by mikidelux
I've been trying to make a structure that will contain all the lights of my WebGL app, and I'm having troubles setting up it's values from JS. The structure is as follows: struct Light { vec4 position; vec4 ambient; vec4 diffuse; vec4 specular; vec3 spotDirection; float spotCutOff; float constantAttenuation; float linearAttenuation; float quadraticAttenuation; float spotExponent; float spotLightCosCutOff; }; uniform Light lights[numLights]; After testing LOTS of things I made it work but I'm not happy with the code I wrote: program.uniform.lights = []; program.uniform.lights.push({ position: "", diffuse: "", specular: "", ambient: "", spotDirection: "", spotCutOff: "", constantAttenuation: "", linearAttenuation: "", quadraticAttenuation: "", spotExponent: "", spotLightCosCutOff: "" }); program.uniform.lights[0].position = gl.getUniformLocation(program, "lights[0].position"); program.uniform.lights[0].diffuse = gl.getUniformLocation(program, "lights[0].diffuse"); program.uniform.lights[0].specular = gl.getUniformLocation(program, "lights[0].specular"); program.uniform.lights[0].ambient = gl.getUniformLocation(program, "lights[0].ambient"); ... and so on I'm sorry for making you look at this code, I know it's horrible but I can't find a better way. Is there a standard or recommended way of doing this properly? Can anyone enlighten me?

  • sorting dynamic table created by form inputs [migrated]

    - by mille
    i am having problems with sorting can someone help to sort this table not just by its form entry id but onclick with some other columns i tried a lot of plugins but cant get anything to work and i dont know what to do i am new at this i sorry for my english thanks. here is the js: var Animals ={ index: window.localStorage.getItem("Animals:index"), $table: document.getElementById("animals-table"), $form: document.getElementById("animals-form"), $button_save: document.getElementById("animals-save"), $button_discard: document.getElementById("animals-discard"), init: function() { if (!Animals.index) { window.localStorage.setItem("Animals:index", Animals.index = 1); } Animals.$form.reset(); Animals.$button_discard.addEventListener("click", function(event) { Animals.$form.reset(); Animals.$form.id_entry.value = 0; }, true); Animals.$form.addEventListener("submit", function(event) { var entry = { id: parseInt(this.id_entry.value), animal_id:this.animal_id.value, animal_name: this.animal_name.value, animal_type: this.animal_type.value, bday: this.bday.value, animal_sex: this.animal_sex.value, mother_name: this.mother_name.value, farm_name: this.farm_name.value, money: this.money.value, weight: this.weight.value, purchase_partner: this.purchase_partner.value }; if (entry.id === 0) { Animals.storeAdd(entry); Animals.tableAdd(entry); } else { // edit Animals.storeEdit(entry); Animals.tableEdit(entry); } this.reset(); this.id_entry.value = 0; event.preventDefault(); }, true); if (window.localStorage.length - 1) { var animals_list = [], i, key; for (i = 0; i < window.localStorage.length; i++) { key = window.localStorage.key(i); if (/Animals:\d+/.test(key)) { animals_list.push(JSON.parse(window.localStorage.getItem(key))); } } if (animals_list.length) { animals_list.sort(function(a, b) {return a.id < b.id ? -1 : (a.id > b.id ? 1 : 0);}) .forEach(Animals.tableAdd);} Animals.$table.addEventListener("click", function(event) { var op = event.target.getAttribute("data-op"); if (/edit|remove/.test(op)) { var entry = JSON.parse(window.localStorage.getItem("Animals:"+ event.target.getAttribute("data- id"))); if (op == "edit") { Animals.$form.id_entry.value = entry.id; Animals.$form.animal_id.value = entry.animal_id; Animals.$form.animal_name.value = entry.animal_name; Animals.$form.animal_type.value = entry.animal_type; Animals.$form.bday.value = entry.bday; Animals.$form.animal_sex.value = entry.animal_sex; Animals.$form.mother_name.value = entry.mother_name; Animals.$form.farm_name.value = entry.farm_name; Animals.$form.money.value = entry.money; Animals.$form.weight.value = entry.weight; Animals.$form.purchase_partner.value = entry.purchase_partner; } else if (op == "remove") { if (confirm('Are you sure you want to remove this animal from your list?' )) { Animals.storeRemove(entry); Animals.tableRemove(entry); } } event.preventDefault(); } }, true); }, storeAdd: function(entry) { entry.id = Animals.index; window.localStorage.setItem("Animals:index", ++Animals.index); window.localStorage.setItem("Animals:"+ entry.id, JSON.stringify(entry)); }, storeEdit: function(entry) { window.localStorage.setItem("Animals:"+ entry.id, JSON.stringify(entry)); }, storeRemove: function(entry) { window.localStorage.removeItem("Animals:"+ entry.id); }, tableAdd: function(entry) { var $tr = document.createElement("tr"), $td, key; for (key in entry) { if (entry.hasOwnProperty(key)) { $td = document.createElement("td"); $td.appendChild(document.createTextNode(entry[key])); $tr.appendChild($td); } } $td = document.createElement("td"); $td.innerHTML = '<a data-op="edit" data-id="'+ entry.id +'">Edit</a> | <a data-op="remove" data-id="'+ entry.id +'">Remove</a>'; $tr.appendChild($td); $tr.setAttribute("id", "entry-"+ entry.id); Animals.$table.appendChild($tr); }, tableEdit: function(entry) { var $tr = document.getElementById("entry-"+ entry.id), $td, key; $tr.innerHTML = ""; for (key in entry) { if (entry.hasOwnProperty(key)) { $td = document.createElement("td"); $td.appendChild(document.createTextNode(entry[key])); $tr.appendChild($td); } } $td = document.createElement("td"); $td.innerHTML = '<a data-op="edit" data-id="'+ entry.id +'">Edit</a> | <a data-op="remove" data-id="'+ entry.id +'">Remove</a>'; $tr.appendChild($td); }, tableRemove: function(entry) { Animals.$table.removeChild(document.getElementById("entry-"+ entry.id)); } }; Animals.init();

  • How to handle shoot instructions, in a multiplayer TD

    - by Martin Elvar Jensen
I'm currently working on a Multiplayer Tower Defense game, using ImpactJS & Node. I seek some clarification about how to handle projectiles from towers, let me explain. So the server is running the master game, and the clients just follow the instruction from the server. Lets say there is about 20 towers on the stage, all needs instructions for which creeps to shoot at. Now lets say each towers fires twice in a second, that's 40 shots each second, (worst case scenario) which is 40 request per second to each client, would't this casue alot of stress to the server, saying that we have 50 games running the same time. So what i am really asking, is this method inefficient, and is there a smarter way to handle all these instructions. Thank you.

In the topic I will illustrate how to pass array of objects to WebService and how to deal with it in your WebService.   Suppose we have this javascript code :   <script language="javascript" type="text/javascript"> var people = new Array(); function person(playerID, playerName, playerPPD) { this.PlayerID = playerID; this.PlayerName = playerName; this.PlayerPPD = parseFloat(playerPPD); } function saveSignup() { addSomeSampleInfo(); WebService.SaveSignups(people, SucceededCallback); } function SucceededCallback(result, eventArgs) { var RsltElem = document.getElementById("divStatusMessage"); RsltElem.innerHTML = result; } function OnError(error) { alert("Service Error: " + error.get_message()); } function addSomeSampleInfo() { people = new Array(); people[people.length++] = new person(123, "Person 1 Name", 10); people[people.length++] = new person(234, "Person 2 Name", 20); people[people.length++] = new person(345, "Person 3 Name", 10.5); } </script> .csharpcode, .csharpcode pre { font-size: small; color: black; font-family: consolas, "Courier New", courier, monospace; background-color: #ffffff; /*white-space: pre;*/ } .csharpcode pre { margin: 0em; } .csharpcode .rem { color: #008000; } .csharpcode .kwrd { color: #0000ff; } .csharpcode .str { color: #006080; } .csharpcode .op { color: #0000c0; } .csharpcode .preproc { color: #cc6633; } .csharpcode .asp { background-color: #ffff00; } .csharpcode .html { color: #800000; } .csharpcode .attr { color: #ff0000; } .csharpcode .alt { background-color: #f4f4f4; width: 100%; margin: 0em; } .csharpcode .lnum { color: #606060; } .csharpcode, .csharpcode pre { font-size: small; color: black; font-family: consolas, "Courier New", courier, monospace; background-color: #ffffff; /*white-space: pre;*/ } .csharpcode pre { margin: 0em; } .csharpcode .rem { color: #008000; } .csharpcode .kwrd { color: #0000ff; } .csharpcode .str { color: #006080; } .csharpcode .op { color: #0000c0; } .csharpcode .preproc { color: #cc6633; } .csharpcode .asp { background-color: #ffff00; } .csharpcode .html { color: #800000; } .csharpcode .attr { color: #ff0000; } .csharpcode .alt { background-color: #f4f4f4; width: 100%; margin: 0em; } .csharpcode .lnum { color: #606060; }   .csharpcode, .csharpcode pre { font-size: small; color: black; font-family: consolas, "Courier New", courier, monospace; background-color: #ffffff; /*white-space: pre;*/ } .csharpcode pre { margin: 0em; } .csharpcode .rem { color: #008000; } .csharpcode .kwrd { color: #0000ff; } .csharpcode .str { color: #006080; } .csharpcode .op { color: #0000c0; } .csharpcode .preproc { color: #cc6633; } .csharpcode .asp { background-color: #ffff00; } .csharpcode .html { color: #800000; } .csharpcode .attr { color: #ff0000; } .csharpcode .alt { background-color: #f4f4f4; width: 100%; margin: 0em; } .csharpcode .lnum { color: #606060; } poeple :is the array that we want to send to the WebService. person :The function –constructor- that we are using to create object to our array. SucceededCallback : This is the callback function invoked if the Web service succeeded. OnError : this is the Error callback function so any errors that occur when the Web Service is called will trigger this function. saveSignup : This function used to call the WebSercie Method (SaveSignups), the first parameter that we pass to the WebService and the second is the name of the callback function.   Here is the body of the Page : <body> <form id="form1" runat="server"> <asp:ScriptManager ID="ScriptManager1" runat="server"> <Services> <asp:ServiceReference Path="WebService.asmx" /> </Services> </asp:ScriptManager> <input type="button" id="btn1" onclick="saveSignup()" value="Click" /> <div id="divStatusMessage"> </div> </form> </body> .csharpcode, .csharpcode pre { font-size: small; color: black; font-family: consolas, "Courier New", courier, monospace; background-color: #ffffff; /*white-space: pre;*/ } .csharpcode pre { margin: 0em; } .csharpcode .rem { color: #008000; } .csharpcode .kwrd { color: #0000ff; } .csharpcode .str { color: #006080; } .csharpcode .op { color: #0000c0; } .csharpcode .preproc { color: #cc6633; } .csharpcode .asp { background-color: #ffff00; } .csharpcode .html { color: #800000; } .csharpcode .attr { color: #ff0000; } .csharpcode .alt { background-color: #f4f4f4; width: 100%; margin: 0em; } .csharpcode .lnum { color: #606060; }     Then main thing is the ServiceReference and it’s path "WebService.asmx” , this is the Web Service that we are using in this example.     A web service will be used to receive the javascript array and handle it in our code : using System; using System.Web; using System.Web.Services; using System.Xml; using System.Web.Services.Protocols; using System.Web.Script.Services; using System.Data.SqlClient; using System.Collections.Generic; [WebService(Namespace = "http://tempuri.org/")] [WebServiceBinding(ConformsTo = WsiProfiles.BasicProfile1_1)] [ScriptService] public class WebService : System.Web.Services.WebService { [WebMethod] public string SaveSignups(object [] values) { string strOutput=""; string PlayerID="", PlayerName="", PlayerPPD=""; foreach (object value in values) { Dictionary<string, object> dicValues = new Dictionary<string, object>(); dicValues = (Dictionary<string, object>)value; PlayerID = dicValues["PlayerID"].ToString(); PlayerName = dicValues["PlayerName"].ToString(); PlayerPPD = dicValues["PlayerPPD"].ToString(); strOutput += "PlayerID = " + PlayerID + ", PlayerName=" + PlayerName + ",PlayerPPD= " + PlayerPPD +"<br>"; } return strOutput; } } .csharpcode, .csharpcode pre { font-size: small; color: black; font-family: consolas, "Courier New", courier, monospace; background-color: #ffffff; /*white-space: pre;*/ } .csharpcode pre { margin: 0em; } .csharpcode .rem { color: #008000; } .csharpcode .kwrd { color: #0000ff; } .csharpcode .str { color: #006080; } .csharpcode .op { color: #0000c0; } .csharpcode .preproc { color: #cc6633; } .csharpcode .asp { background-color: #ffff00; } .csharpcode .html { color: #800000; } .csharpcode .attr { color: #ff0000; } .csharpcode .alt { background-color: #f4f4f4; width: 100%; margin: 0em; } .csharpcode .lnum { color: #606060; } The first thing I implement System.Collections.Generic Namespace, we need it to use the Dictionary Class. you can find in this code that I pass the javascript objects to array of object called values, then we need to deal with every separate Object and explicit it to Dictionary<string, object> . The Dictionary Represents a collection of keys and values Dictionary<TKey, TValue> TKey : The type of the keys in the dictionary TValue : The type of the values in the dictionary. For more information about Dictionary check this link : http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/xfhwa508(VS.80).aspx   Now we can get the value for every element because we have mapping from a set of keys to a set of values, the keys of this example is :  PlayerID ,PlayerName,PlayerPPD, this created from the original object person.    Ultimately, this Web method return the values as string, but the main idea of this method to show you how to deal with array of object and convert it to  Dictionary<string, object> object , and get the values of this Dictionary.   Hope this helps,

  • What is the most performant CSS property for transitioning an element?

    - by Ian Kuca
I'm wondering whether there is a performance difference between using different CSS properties to translate an element. Some properties fit different situations differently. You can translate an element with following properties: transform, top/left/right/bottom and margin-top/left/right/bottom In the case where you do not utilize the transition CSS property for the translation but use some form of a timer (setTimeout, requestAnimationFrame or setImmediate) or raw events, which is the most performant–which is going to make for higher FPS rates?

  • Google Closure Compiler - what does the name mean?

    - by mikez302
I am curious about the Google Closure Compiler. Why did they name it that? Does it have anything to do with lexical closures? EDIT: I tried researching it in the FAQ and documentation, as well as doing Google searches such as "closure compiler name". I couldn't find anything definite, hence the reason I am asking. I don't think I will get a profoundly helpful answer but I was hoping that I could at least satisfy my curiosity. I am not trying to solve a specific problem. I am just curious.

  • How do I mashup Google Maps with geolocated photos from one or more social networks?

    - by PureCognition
I'm working on a proof of concept for a project, and I need to pin random photos to a Google Map. These photos can come from another social network, but need to be non-porn. I've done some research so far, Google's Image Search API is deprecated. So, one has to use the Custom Search API. A lot of the images aren't photos, and I'm not sure how well it handles geolocation yet. Twitter seems a little more well suited, except for the fact that people can post pictures of pretty much anything. I was also going to look into the API's for other networks such as Flickr, Picasa, Pinterest and Instagram. I know there are some aggregate services out there that might have done some of this mash-up work for me as well. If there is anyone out there that has a handle on social APIs and where I should look for this type of solution, I would really appreciate the help. Also, in cases where server-side implementation matters, I'm a .NET developer by experience.

  • Changing balls direction in Pong

    - by hustlerinc
    I'm making a Pong game to get started with game-developement but I've run into a problem that i can't figure out. When trying to change the balls direction it doesn't change. This is the relevant code: function moveBall(){ this.speed = 2.5; this.direction = 2; if(this.direction == 1){ ball.X +=this.speed; } else if(this.direction == 2){ ball.X -=this.speed; } } function collision(){ if(ball.X == 500){ moveBall.direction = 2; } if(ball.X == 300){ moveBall.direction = 1; } } Why doesn't it work? I've tried many different ways, and none of them seem to work. The moveBall.direction changes though, since it alerts the new direction once it reaches the defined ball.X position. If someone could help me I would deeply appreciate it. I've included a JSFiddle link. http://jsfiddle.net/hustlerinc/y4wp3/

  • Staggered Isometric Map: Calculate map coordinates for point on screen

    - by Chris
I know there are already a lot of resources about this, but I haven't found one that matches my coordinate system and I'm having massive trouble adjusting any of those solutions to my needs. What I learned is that the best way to do this is to use a transformation matrix. Implementing that is no problem, but I don't know in which way I have to transform the coordinate space. Here's an image that shows my coordinate system: How do I transform a point on screen to this coordinate system?

  • Some Adsense domain's ads are causing document.write() statements that remove the html from the page

    - by er1234
All that is output on the page is the domain name of the advertiser, for example 'www.solar-aid.org'. The rest of the content is stripped, I believe because of a document.write() statement. I'd like to know if this is a common issue or something wrong with our setup. There are three domains causing the issue, which we've blocked from Adsense as a result. solar-aid.org kiva.org grameenfoundation.org Given the type of organizations I think they may be within the default group of 'public service ads' within the Backup Ads setting. If the issue doesn't completely resolve itself soon (one customer of ours complained today, even though I blocked them 5+ days ago), I'll disable public service ads and select the 'fill space with a solid color' option.

  • SVG images grow and create scrollbars when on the server

    - by zuko
Okay so I embedded some SVG images into my page and opened it locally on Chrome and it looked fine. I upload the same file to the server and look at the page online and the SVG images have grown by maybe 5-10% and are surrounded by scroll bars like they are overflowing. I think it probably has to do with my lack of knowledge on how SVG and Embed work. What's really puzzling me though, is that it works fine locally. (I have cache disabled.) Help? Thanks. Edit: code HTML: <embed type="image/svg+xml" src="content/web-logo.svg"/> There's no CSS on the image. I'm not sure if I was just wrong before or if I changed something I'm not aware of, but it doesn't appear to be actually changing size anymore. It just decides to stuff it into a scrollbox. pic: https://www.dropbox.com/s/wt1aufi7nl1fpyi/svg-problem.png
