• NSUserDefaults and default language used for I18N

  I have searched around a lot for this and found some answers that sounded quite like what I wanted but never worked. I simply need to have my iPhone app load NIBs and Localizable.strings that I decide (through user selection) rather than the ones that are established through the global iPhone/iPad settings. General consensus seems to be that this line [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] setObject:[NSArray arrayWithObject:@"ro"] forKey:@"AppleLanguages"]; would do the trick (in this specific case, load the NIBs and Localizable.strings in ro.lproj) but I have not had such luck. It keeps on looking for the files in en.lproj or whatever language I chose in the Settings app. I have then tried adding this line [[NSUserDefaults standardUserDefaults] setObject:[NSArray arrayWithObject:@"ro_RO"] forKey:@"AppleLocale"]; and to my great surprise, it worked! ...only once :-( then back to the same issue. Has anyone got any idea how to solve this issue? The aforementioned code was added at the very start of applicationDidFinishLaunching, which is before any NIBs or strings files should be loaded.

• Exception "Illegal attempt to associate a collection with two open sessions" when saving object

  I am using CastleProject ActiveRecord and I use lazy load feature of this ORM. In order to make lazy load work, it is required to create SessionScope. I do this in Program.cs: public static SessionScope sessionScope; private static void InitializeActiveRecord() { ActiveRecordStarter.Initialize(); sessionScope = new SessionScope(); } This works fine for loading, however, when I try to save my objects, I get an exception saying "Illegal attempt to associate a collection with two open sessions". I guess this is due to the fact that I created one session myself. How to avoid this exception?

  So for this is what I've got: $(document).ready(function () { $("#div p").load("/update/temp.php"); function addOne() { var number = parseInt($("#div p").html()); return number + 1; } setInterval(function () { $("#div p").text(addOne()); }, 1000); setInterval(function () { $("#geupdate p").load("/update/temp.php");} ,10000); }); So this grabs a a UNIX timestamp from temp.php and puts into into #div p, and then adds 1 to it every second, and then every 10 seconds it will check the original file to keep it up to speed. My problem is that I need to format this UNIX timestamp into a format such as "1 day 3 hours 56 minutes and 3 seconds ago", while also doing all the incrementation and ajax calls. I'm not very experienced with jquery/javascript, so I might be missing something basic.

• Code in Global.asax prevents webpage from loading

  I've made a static class to hold a number of configuration values (and also swap these values out in unit tests). If I initialise it in the Global.asax, the code runs correctly but the page doesn't load at all, and trying to navigate to a specific page fails. I can't initialise the values in a constructor or inline on the field declarations, because I need to be able to swap the values out in unit tests before the web.config is interrogated. Basically, putting the one line "ConfigClass.SetValues()" in the Global.asax prevents the app from loading correctly (although, as I say, it runs the code fine) and removing it again makes the app load properly - but without the class values initialised. As an aside, I'm sure I had this working correctly and being initialised in the Global.asax yesterday. I'm positive I didn't take any action to change or break it... Does anyone have advice on how I might track down what's going on here? Was I mistaken that it worked before (always possible) and that I need to go back and redesign something?

• How to Work Around Limitations in Generic Type Constraints in C#?

  Okay I'm looking for some input, I'm pretty sure this is not currently supported in .NET 3.5 but here goes. I want to require a generic type passed into my class to have a constructor like this: new(IDictionary<string,object>) so the class would look like this public MyClass<T> where T : new(IDictionary<string,object>) { T CreateObject(IDictionary<string,object> values) { return new T(values); } } But the compiler doesn't support this, it doesn't really know what I'm asking. Some of you might ask, why do you want to do this? Well I'm working on a pet project of an ORM so I get values from the DB and then create the object and load the values. I thought it would be cleaner to allow the object just create itself with the values I give it. As far as I can tell I have two options: 1) Use reflection(which I'm trying to avoid) to grab the PropertyInfo[] array and then use that to load the values. 2) require T to support an interface like so: public interface ILoadValues { void LoadValues(IDictionary values); } and then do this public MyClass<T> where T:new(),ILoadValues { T CreateObject(IDictionary<string,object> values) { T obj = new T(); obj.LoadValues(values); return obj; } } The problem I have with the interface I guess is philosophical, I don't really want to expose a public method for people to load the values. Using the constructor the idea was that if I had an object like this namespace DataSource.Data { public class User { protected internal User(IDictionary<string,object> values) { //Initialize } } } As long as the MyClass<T> was in the same assembly the constructor would be available. I personally think that the Type constraint in my opinion should ask (Do I have access to this constructor? I do, great!) Anyways any input is welcome.

• How to run a .exe with dll in different location

  I am working in C# and implementing Plugin Management feature to our application. I look through dll and exe to load up plugins that are in a specific folder say Plugins. These plugin applications have their own folder when they are installed and I will copy over the plugin application exe/dll to the Plugins folder. However, there are some plugin applications that requires other dlls to run, but I want to minimize the duplication. Is there a way that I can just copy over the .exe to the Plugins folder and have the other dependent dll files locate in other folder? How would I load the the plugin in c# if the .exe and .dll is not in the same location? Thanks.

• GMap in iframe gets off-center

  I have a Google Map (API 2) that used to work fine as a standalone page. However, when I load the map page within an iframe (with Thickbox), the map gets off-center: normally it's centered over Germany and in the iframe it centers on Iran, instead. How to make the map center correctly? My guesses: The problem can result from the iframe loading time. I guess, that the script calculates window size basing on the iframe size when it's still loading.   How does one stream files, html or custom AJAX responses from web parts? Our current quick-and-very-dirty solution is to make the web part call the current page with certain query parameters, which the web part checks and instead of performing normal load it writes the required things to output and calls response end. This sounds bad since SharePoint might load other web parts and execute their code before reaching our web part. The web part is configured with data source settings which means the streaming context must be specific to the web part so it can acquire the correct data source settings.

• Images to video - converting to IplImage makes video blue

  I want to create a video from images using opencv. The strange problem is that if i will write image (bmp) to disk and then load (cv.LoadImage) it it renders fine, but when i try to load image from StringIO and convert it to IplImage, it turns video to blue. • Embed external images for use in HTML canvas?

  I'm using JavaScript to load an image into my Canvas element in Firefox. This works fine for local images, but throws a security exception for external images. Is there any way to avoid this security exception, one that does not involve my server having to act as proxy to load the image locally (because that would stress my server)? • Can we you the attached properties in C# class library?

  Hi I have implemented the Observer Pattern with lazy load. The class that requests the data from the database is a singleton class. Now I am able to load the data from one database (located in one datacenter) very easily. But I need to get the data from other data centers too and display on the same UI. I can somehow pass the address of second data center and fetch the data from there also. But once I will get the data from second data center, it will be added to earlier list only. So later it will be thought for me to distinguish between the data. So I thought of attaching a property with the result set, so that while displaying the output I can show the data for both the data centers separately but on the same UI. I thought of attached property as an option where I can attach the data center name with the list of the data obtained. How is it possible to do in C#? Thanks Manas

  I am rebuilding an ecom site where the product data is stored in a multidimensional JS array that gets loaded on page load. This data is constantly being accessed with JS due to the nature of the site, to update prices based on user selections. There are many options that affect final price. From a programming standpoint, a DB table is much easier to maintain and update than are JS arrays, and since I am porting the site over to PHP and MYSQL, I have been considering moving these arrays into tables. So, would it be better to populate an array from the DB on load so that the pricing data is always available to the JS, or stay with hard coded JS files? I considered getting data via ajax as needed, but since this site has to constantly update pricing with user interaction, I have pretty much ruled that out. How would you handle it?

  I'm interested in different algorithms people use to visualise millions of particles in a box. I know you can use Cloud-In-Cell, adaptive mesh, Kernel smoothing, nearest grid point methods etc to reduce the load in memory but there is very little documentation on how to do these things online. i.e. I have array with: x,y,z 1,2,3 4,5,6 6,7,8 xi,yi,zi for i = 100 million for example. I don't want a package like Mayavi/Paraview to do it, I want to code this myself then load the decomposed matrix into Mayavi (rather than on-the-fly rendering) My poor 8Gb Macbook explodes if I try and use the particle positions. Any tutorials would be appreciated.

  Hi all - when I look up the syntax for .data(), it gives examples like this: $('body').data('foo', 52); I am doing AJAX loads and I was wondering if it is possible to store the incoming html using .data() so once the content is loaded, I would not need to do another AJAX load if the same link is clicked again - I would check to see if the .data key is empty. So it skips the very next row and loads the rows only after the very first, so only 9. I tried to write here only the important part of the code, so i skipped some echo part etc. Any idea?

• Post Loading ads from Google Admanager

  I have changed code around to basically load an add the bottom of the page in a hidden div and attached an onload event handler that called document.getElementById(xxx).appendChild() to take the hidden ad and move it into the right spot in my page. This works GREAT.. however when the ad is a text ad it AFTER i move the ad there is nothing in the rendered Iframe. I did tests to see what it looks like before i move it and sure enough the text links load in the IFRAME but the second i do the appendChild call to move the div that contains the ad i seem to loose the contents of the Iframe. • Loading a DB table into nested dictionaries in Python

  Hi, I have a table in MySql DB which I want to load it to a dictionary in python. the table columns is as follows: id,url,tag,tagCount tagCount is the number of times that a tag has been repeated for a certain url. So in that case I need a nested dictionary, in other words a dictionary of dictionary, to load this table. • Wavefront obj loader iphone materials problem

  Hi! I use Bill Duney wavefront obj loader. I'm new in opengles and it was really helpful. unfortunately... I exported a revit file to dwg and then open it with blender/google sketchUp and then to wavefront obj. Next, add my files to your loader and got strange results. The project load correctly vertex and normals but does a strange results with materials (I use only material, without textures). The one file is loaded with some materials on different faces the other, doesn't load materials but after a click makes the model green. If you have a minute and could help me out, please. • Saving XML in UTF-8 with MSXML

  I'm trying to load a simple Xml file (encoded in UTF-8): <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <Test/> And save it with MSXML in vbscript: Set xmlDoc = CreateObject("MSXML2.DOMDocument.6.0") xmlDoc.Load("C:\test.xml") xmlDoc.Save "C:\test.xml" The problem is, MSXML saves file in ANSI instead of UTF-8 (despite the original file being encoded in UTF-8). The MSDN docs for MSXML says that save() will write the file in whatever encoding the XML is defined in but this is clearly not working at least on my machine. How can MSXML save in UTF-8?
