• How to check If a Tel: area code is correct using jquery?

  Hy I need to check if the given phone area code is correct. i created a input field, user can insert a tel area code like 0044 oder 0090 and so on. I restricted the input field to 4 chars. I need to check after the 4 chars are entered if the area code is correct. What it should do. After entering 4 number, the script should check the following things. Does the entered number equals something like "00{number 2 digit only}" if it doesnt alert("please enter correct tel areacode"); I hope i could explain my problem clear. How can i do it with javascript or jquery?

• Is it valid to have more than one question mark in a URL?

  I came across the following URL today: http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/blogs/inmarin/detail??blogid=122&entry_id=64497 Notice the doubled question mark at the beginning of the query string: ??blogid=122&entry_id=64497 My browser didn't seem to have any trouble with it, and running a quick bookmarklet: javascript:alert(document.location.search); just gave me the query string shown above. Is this a valid URL? The reason I'm being so pedantic (assuming that I am) is because I need to parse URLs like this for query parameters, and supporting doubled question marks would require some changes to my code. Obviously if they're in the wild, I'll need to support them; I'm mainly curious if it's my fault for not adhering to URL standards exactly, or if it's in fact a non-standard URL.

• How to access fields in JSON object by index

  I know this isn't the best way to do it, but I have no other choice :( I have to access the items in JSONObject by their index. The standard way to access objects is to just wirte this[objectName] or this.objectName. I also found a method to get all the fields inside a json object: (for (var key in p) { if (p.hasOwnProperty(key)) { alert(key + " -> " + p[key]); } } (Soruce : Loop through Json object). However there is no way of accessing the JSONfields directly by a index. The only way I see right now, is to create an array, with the function above, get the fieldname by index and then get the value by fieldname. As far as I see it, the p (in our case the JSON file must be an iteratable array to, or else the foreach loop wouldn't work. How can I access this array directly? Or is it some kind of unsorted list?   let say I have a parent element which has so many nested child elements inside of itself: <div id="p"> <div id="c1"> <div id="c2"></div> <div id="c3"></div> </div id="c4"> <div id="c5"></div> </div> </div> I've already bind a click event on the parent: $('#p').bind('click', function() { alert($(this).attr('id')); }); Because the event is assigned to the parent element, I always see the parent id, however, I'm wondering if there is any possible way to find out which of this child elements has been clicked? I also can't assign any event to the child elements or remove the event listener from parent div.

• Problem with access to control properties in Multibox

  I used multibox-component to create lightbox-similar div. But I faced problem. I placed textbox with id ‘tbx_position’ in that div. I entered some symbols in textbox and then tried to read value via javascript-function (it had to alert document.getElementById(‘tbx_position’).value). Every time that value was empty. There is example of it. Furthermore, if I place in the div asp:Button, server OnClick-eventhandler doesn’t catch fire. Is any idea, what’s reason? Thanks.

• Using jQuery to find keywords in string

  In php, I have used preg_match_all() to find keywords (using the format %keyword%) in a string, which works wonderfully and returns an array of all found keywords. What I would like to do, is do the same thing using jQuery or javascript. I have tried using the filter() function, and it kind of works. But I think I am missing something. How can I find ALL instances of the keyword in a string, using a regex? Here is what I have worked out so far: $("[id^='editableContent-']").filter(function() { alert($(this).html().match(/\%(.*?)\%/)); }); Any suggestions are welcome!

  All right so I am doing a javascript code for a login type form and it will lead you to a new page. Hence I am looking for a solution to sanitize the CSS while still allowing as much CSS functionality as possible for my users.   I'm trying to get data from Geobytes. One of the templates returns JSON and I need to cross-domain access it.   I am trying to get a list of values within a div that I will format later using the .each() method.   We've identified that full browser caches are the cause of a problem on our extranet. It only affects a small number of our users, but we'd like to alert them to the problem and give them some guidance on how to fix the problem for themselves. We'd like to use a similar system to the one which GMail uses. When it detects that your browser's cache is full, it shows a warning message telling users that their cache is full and that it may cause problems with GMail, along with a link to a Gmail Help page on clearing your browser's cache. Does anyone know if there any resources out there, or examples of how to use JavaScript to detect that the browser's cache is full? Thanks.

  I have a searching system that splits the keyword into chunks and searches for it in a string like this: var regexp_school = new RegExp("(?=.*" + split_keywords[0] + ")(?=.*" + split_keywords[1] + ")(?=.*" + split_keywords[2] + ").*", "i"); I would like to modify this so that so that I would only search for it in the beginning of the words. For example if the string is: "Bbe be eb ebb beb" And the keyword is: "be eb" Then I want only these to hit "be ebb eb" In other words I want to combine the above regexp with this one: var regexp_school = new RegExp("^" + split_keywords[0], "i"); But I'm not sure how the syntax would look like. I'm also using the split fuction to split the keywords, but I dont want to set a length since I dont know how many words there are in the keyword string. split_keywords = school_keyword.split(" ", 3); If I leave the 3 out, will it have dynamic lenght or just lenght of 1? I tried doing a alert(split_keywords.lenght); But didnt get a desired response

• "Intercepting" user input into text box and removing it

  I have a text box that I would like to do some validation on. At the moment I have this code: function updateChanger() { // Validate input var likeMessage = validateInput($("#like").val()); alert(likeMessage); } function validateInput(input) { input = input.replace(/[^a-zA-Z0-9:\(\/\)\s\.,!~]/g, ""); return input; } This successfully trims out unwanted characters in the likeMessage variable, but the character still gets entered into the text box. I would like to stop that from happening. I know it will have something to do with $("#like").val() but the only thing I can think of is just chopping off the end character from the text box value, would this suffice? Thanks for any help!

• Callback for When jqGrid Finishes Reloading?

  Hi, I am using the jqGrid plug-in and at one point I need to refresh the grid and set the selected row to match the record that I am showing in detail on another section of the page. I have the following code but it does not work: $("#AllActions").trigger("reloadGrid").setSelection(selectedRow); The selectedRow parameter comes from an event handler that gets called when the data is changed and the grid needs to be updated. I'm pretty sure that the problem is that the grid is not loaded when the selection is being set, because if I put a call to alert() between the calls to trigger() and setSelection(), it works.
