    I have an attribute in my AR:B that is not serializeable. o = Discussion.find(6) Marshal.dump(o) TypeError: no marshal_dump is defined for class Proc from (irb):10:in `dump' I know the culprit and what I want is to set this variable to nil before any serialization takes place. I can do this but I'm stuck with the proper way to override marshal_dump def marshal_dump @problem = nil # what is the right return here? end Or is there is way to tell Ruby or AR not to serialize an object?

For example, like this: type my_type = int; // or string, or Foo, or any other type void* data = ...; my_type* a = (my_type*) data; I know that 99.9% of the time there's a better way to do what you want without resorting to casting void pointers, but I'm curious if C++ allows this sort of thing.

I've added the framework and included the header file but when I try to define my first MCPConnection variable it says "MCPConnection undeclared". Is anyone successfully using MCPKit on leopard ? Or is there another framework that people use to access MySQL ?

    I want to send the below data to default.ctp, I want to display menus in all the pages, I'm using Auth, The problem is if I'm logged in I get the Menus correctly, but if I logout, I'm getting error saying variable'$topMenu' not found. The MenuController can be accessed only if logged in. $this->loadModel('Menu'); $this->set('topMenu',$this->Menu->find('all')); Any help on how to solve this?

I am wondering if there is a easy way to use emacs that when I highlight a variable name I can go straight to where it is declared? Out team would appreciate your guidance on: (1) Is there a way to implement this Web portal-based platform on these Linux servers without customizing the host name, domain name and IP address for each individual instance? (2) Is there a way to create some variables using JavaScript for host name and domain name and call them from the different implementations? (3) Can these JavaScript modules be made portable and re-usable object modules for different environments and instances?     Given a PDF, how can one get the layout mode of a PDF (or relative width/height) using a PHP lib or linux command line tool? Using http://www.tecnick.com/public/code/cp%5Fdpage.php?aiocp%5Fdp=tcpdf which can set this variable on new PDFs, but for existing pdfs from adobe. Thought of converting pdfs to ps, or using gs in some other way - like converting it to an image first, and getting the width and height of that. Is this the best way?

I seem to remember a nice tool where I could drag its pointer over the GUI of my running application and get lots of info about what was pointed at - handle, size, text, parent, children, etc IIRC, if the exe include debug info I could also get the actual variable name as used in the source.
